New thread because the old one's about to hit the 1000 posts mark.

Moss, it probably wasn't a good moment, he is up to his neck in tax demands and he hates parting with money and he hates paper work too. He needs to sort through his plastic bag filing system and fill in forms
He has told me he likes Jamil or Jamilla and Iqbal. But i have unfortunate associations for Jamil and Iqbal doesn't have a soft enough sound for my likings...sigh.

Piffle · 05/02/2007 15:02

boo are you taking plenty of iron supplement as after 30 wks your iron levels take a dive
Mine went from a massively healthy 14 to 10.5 in 3 weeks of no diet change
So I am on two sachets of Spatone (the only iron supplement you need - health food shops/chemists)
And my count is back up to 12 in 4 wks

Had my blood tests for cholestasis just an hour ago. I had it with dd, but luckily my levels although elveated did not increase so I did not need induction or massive intervention - the itching started much earlier with dd as well.

Results should be in for Thursday on one test and 7 days for the others.
Fingers crossed

Rosy the only Jamil I know temps for us in the purchase ledger department of QVC. He's very good though!

('Cos obviously that's a great reason for naming your lo after him )

Piffle good luck for your test results!

Rosylily · 05/02/2007 15:24

LaidbackinEngland · 05/02/2007 15:49

Rosy - how about 'Amilla' - we have a Sri Lankan friend with this name - like Jamil or Jamilla but softer... we call him "Amilla the thriller" but honestly that is just because he is a really good surfer

Piffle - hope you stop itching soon.

foxabout2pop · 05/02/2007 15:50

Rosy - I reckon you should praise DS1 for his imagination!!!

AmieR · 05/02/2007 15:51

Moss - sorry bout your MS, I still get it on days my morning routine is thrown out. odd isn't it.

Lunar - I may be able to make wednesday, 11:30 isn't it? I'm kinda doing minimal work at the moment. I can't make thursday evening as its antenatal class at the hospital. Sorry.

AmieR · 05/02/2007 15:55

I've just remembered why I want to sainsburys!

My dad and his wife are coming for tea!

LunarSea · 05/02/2007 15:56

Amie - yes 11:30. I tend to forget about classes, etc - they just assume that 2nd time round you know it all anyway.

Rosylily · 05/02/2007 16:01

Fox ds1 is 15 so I think I'll praise him for his ability to play/argue on the same level as a four year old!!

Laidback Amilla is nice and haven't come across it, any meanings? Sabri is on my list too but no positive response from the grump!

divastrop · 05/02/2007 16:20

rosy-would you like to swap him for my ds2?on the way back from picking up the older 2 he walked up to a year 6 boy(ds2 is 3.5)and pushed him in the road, and he has just told dd1 to f**k off!
PLEASE let this one be a girl....

i dont know if there is anything up with dp,or im just being paranoid.i just get the feeling hes only still with me cos im pregnant,he'd rather play his computer game and chat to the people on there than spend any time with me

divastrop · 05/02/2007 16:33

i had to cut that message short.

amie-sounds like you have full-blown pregnancy brain.ive got to the stage of going into shops, with a list, staring at the list and still not being able to figure out what i'm in there for.i keep randomly bursting into tears as well, its horrible.

morocco · 05/02/2007 16:51

fingers crossed piffle. it must be horrible being so itchy. do they give you anything that makes the itching better or do you just have to wait it out?
sorry the ms is back, moss
how's the dizziness now, boo?

very good news about my breech baby. I spent all weekend upside down, doing shoulder stands, down stairs on hands and knees facing forward, every thing ever recommended and today I went to the surestart mw dropin and she's back to head down and 'hopefully' is also quite settled there. am very very chuffed. it was also good talking to the mw about it though cos they were really supportive of nat birth for breech babies and assured me they have the experience to cope etc. so if she does shift back I feel so much more confident about going there to give birth
hurrah

muppetisacat · 05/02/2007 17:09

Morocco that babe has turned but slightly too!!!

Didn't know you were meant to go down stairs FORWARDS on hands and knees... I've been doing in backwards. Christ though, if I try and do it forwards I may well fall to my death!!! How the hell did you crawl forwards down the stairs and keep your balance???

35+3

sexkittyinwaiting · 05/02/2007 17:13

Morocco, that's really good news either way

Diva, I've not known a woman being preg enough of a pull to keep many many men at home if they want to go. If he wanted to go he'd probably go, preg or not. He's s there because he wants to be. I think he sounds like a very admirable person and you both seem like to need to hug each other more
Sory, that sounded a bit bossy , but remeber that when you're low that you will always look for a negative outcome no matter whether everything points to positive, if that makes sense.

3rdtriMOSSter · 05/02/2007 17:17

Ah Diva I hope things are okay with you and your dp, and that you are just being paranoid (not that I would wish paranoia on you, but it's better than it being true, isyswim). Have you told him how you feel?

Foxy when do you find out for deffo about the pay rise?

Morocco congrats on baby turning, but I'm with Muppet on this - how on earth did you go downstairs on hands and knees, forward?!

LunarSea · 05/02/2007 17:20

I tried looking up what Amilla meant - but this isn't exactly helpful!

OP posts:
LunarSea · 05/02/2007 17:33

Seeing as:

  1. I can't do any sorting out of baby things as they're stuck in the attic until dh gets back
  2. there's nobody at home so no rush to get back on time
... I've just managed an hour out of the office and have been mooching around looking at baby things, thinking that even if we can reuse a lot of what we had for ds it'd be nice to have one or two new things.

Trouble is I can't decide what size to buy. If this baby really does turn out to be "well over" 10lbs as currently predicted, I'm presumably not going to get enough (any?) use out of newborn size stuff. So shall I just get a few nice 0-3 things? At least we can be pretty sure that at some stage they'll fit - but I'd like to have something a bit more interesting than plain white babygro for those first photos - and I'm going to be stuffed if I don't get any smaller items and the predictions turn out wrong. Decisions, decisions.......

Have also been looking for something I had last time which was great in labour - a sort of spritzer spray thing with lavender in it. Really cool and refeshing - but can I find anything like that now? You guessed it - no!

Tomorrow I have to go to a different office - and within a couple of miles of it there's a huge Tesco, a T K Maxx, and a Next-to-Nothing (Next clearance shop). As there's no hurry to get home and they're all open late I get the feeling that a shopping trip might be on the agenda....

OP posts:
3rdtriMOSSter · 05/02/2007 17:59

Lunar, I have bought the bare minimum, some in first size and some in 0-3 months.

But luckily mil and her friends have been going into shopping frenzy mode in Primark and TK's and apparently we now have more clothes than we could ever possibly need for about the first eighteen months, so can't help I'm afraid, except to say, do you think that your friends / rellies will be buying stuff for you? I certainly didn't realise people would buy this much stuff for us.

LaidbackinEngland · 05/02/2007 18:04

Lunar - get spending !! DS2 was over 10lbs and couldn't get into newborn - so maybe just get 0-3 - I think they fit babies from 8lb upwards so there is some margin for error IYSWIM.

I think I am sorted - almost - tens machine arrived this am and tea tree oil for nappies. Need to wash the nappies but waiting for a sunny day . Could be waiting some time. Haven't bought any sanitary pads - usually use night time ones after giving birth - think they are better than maternity ones, which feel a bit like nappies to me. Maybe I am hoping for a blood free birth !!

I will ask Amilla what his name means - he will probably say "stud". His brothers are called Batu (said bartu) , Mahendra and Sousil. I will try and think of some names with a more arabic feel for you Rosy.....

Just got back from my LAST AFTERNOON OF TEACHING! AAAAAAHHHHHHHH..... .

Right. Going to try and remember everything I put in my earlier post that got deleted.

First, thanks for the advice re blood pressure. I had low blood pressure when I was younger and this did feel similar. It also felt like low blood sugar. Piffle: I take Pregnacare which has iron in it, and I'm eating quite a lot of red meat and dark green veg. Might get those Spatone thingies though. Thanks for the suggestion .

Morocco: congratulations on your spinning baby!

TheBlonde: hope you're feeling better.

Foxy: we're apparently 'viable' now. Are you ready? I still don't have a car seat, and haven't packed my hospital bag. Perhaps I'm in denial.

Mossy: you're lucky being given so much stuff. I've been given loads of hand-me-downs which are great, but I've got a feeling that most of my family will want to buy me something expensive and impractical that LO will wear for about 5 minutes. Good for photos I s'pose. (BTW, your 'sh*tting' story made me lol).

Lunar: I haven't bought any newborn stuff, except a few vests. I've got some hand-me-downs, but I've mostly bought stuff in 0-3 months. We can just roll everything up!

Piffle: re the broken skin, have you tried sudocreme at night? Really helps my eczema atm, as I can't use my steroid cream in pregnancy.

Diva: hope you can talk to your DP about how you're feeling .

Really sorry for those I haven't responded to. Must try harder!

foxabout2pop · 05/02/2007 19:31

Laidback - love those names of the men in your family. I find arabic mens names quite sexy - and arabic men!!

Morocco - well done for turning that baby and for managing all the acrobatics

Diva - sure DH is OK, he sounds supportive generally. Maybe he's just going through a tired and can't be arsed patch? Agree with Kitty (as usual Kitty ) - maybe you need some time together without the kids, so you can have a cuddle?

Aime - I have the same brain as you atm!!

Morocco - I said to my boss, "can the pay rise be sorted by the new financial year? I read on our company website that that is the best time for the group to arrange it...oh actually it wasn't on our website - it was another website I was looking at, called "How to get a pay rise" !"

He found that quite funny. I want it in place by 1 April, so I can get some of it in my maternity pay - although I think mat pay is worked out as an average of your earnings in last three months before you go off or something? (in which case I won't benefit till I go back to work)

never mind - any extra money is appreciated at any time!!

Thanks for the votes girls. Problem with Derhan - sounds like "Darren"
