New thread because the old one's about to hit the 1000 posts mark.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Rosylily · 05/02/2007 11:02

Piffle no wonder you are fed up! And I think moaning is allowed! Hope your homebirth isn't ruled out.

Moss there was a free baby name book with Prima baby mag. It says Ishmael means 'God hears' and also means 'outcast'. Bertram is in there and it says 'From the old German, 'bright raven' the bird owned by the norse god Odin.

Anyway I still need to research names more and discuss with dh once the baby arrives. There are lots of other names I quite like.

3rdtriMOSSter · 05/02/2007 11:22

Rosy I think if you like the name and it has one meaning that is nice, you shouldn't rule it out.

Now I didn't know Bertram was Norse, I thought it was Old English, the Raven bit is interesting... the area of St Helens we're in is called Ravenhead!

Piffle sorry you're feeling itchy and horrible, I hope you still manage to get the home birth you want. Fingers crossed for your appointment.

foxabout2pop · 05/02/2007 11:25

Rosy - I love the name Ismael (sp?) its really nice. Most people wouldn't know what it meant anyway would they. You can always make up a meaning

Bethoo - LOl at your bra (sorry!!). I thought my underwear was sad!!

My hospital gave me a page of drawings of labour positions for an active birth and one of the really does look like a woman giving a B* job - I reckon all that kneeling must be aquite good for labour LOL!!!

bethoo · 05/02/2007 11:30

Rosy - do not get me started on names! i have already chosen for my son though i also like Saul!

bethoo · 05/02/2007 11:32

Rosy and Foxy - i originally was going to call my boy Ismael or Isiaiah but my boyf at the time kept saying 'God botherer'. so Hayden it is for now! but do not know about middle names! my son will have the initials HH so cannot put many letters in between!

Piffle · 05/02/2007 11:38

yep burning itching
just had a bath and it stung all the places where I have broken the skin.
I've also got no appetite and feel queasy, so feeling just grotty
Names arghhh
I think we're Finn here

foxabout2pop · 05/02/2007 11:43

Love the name Finn Piffle or Finnbar

Bethoo - Middle name has to begin with an A then doesn't it?

YankeeFish · 05/02/2007 11:50

For Foxy - sorry it took so long, been meaning to do it: and it appears that I am quite opinionated. I have never heard of most of them, so maybe that is my bias.

Anyone else getting numb in their hands? My BP is fine - but I do have some swelling in hands and feet - so maybe that is cause of numbness - but none of my books talk about it?

Piffle, love the name Finn - but we can't use it as friends of ours had it for their dog that passed.

A woman in my NCT Bumps n Babes group just named her baby boy - born last week - 13 days late (ouch) Finlay. I think that is nice too.

BTW - I don't think that I have had any BH yet - is that normal? Maybe I just don't know what they are?

kiwibella · 05/02/2007 12:44

I love all the names you are mentioning! Isn't it funny to think that these little people will have their own very, very shortly.

Lots of pins and needles here, Yankee... but not actual numbness. Hope it sorts itself out for your.

Fingers crossed for you and your bloods Piffle. The itching must be annoying... and as for that lack of sleep .

Mossy, love your idea of nesting. I think I am really good at that one .

Hope everyone is ok today . Take care

kiwibella · 05/02/2007 12:47

Fox... I love Miro (it could be that it is so close to Milo - which is a fav ). Do any of the meanings have special significance to you and dh?? I've been put right off Monti after whoever mentioned the cricket . I'm not for association.

Piffle · 05/02/2007 12:53

WE dare not tell MIL about the name Finn (or even the gender ) as she has a friend of a friends uncle cousins, sisters' niece's once removed child called Finn who was a ne'erdo well and she is not keen on the name
So we'll conveniently forget that and name him first then tell her

We also loved Seamus or Shay for short but Shay rhymes with Gay (ds 13 warned us) and also Seamus is the butt of too many irish duffer jokes...
It's a minefield I swear

divastrop · 05/02/2007 12:55

piffle-sorry to hear youre feeling itchy and horrible.finn is a nic ename,my dd1 wanted to call ds2 that(well, finn stiff?!).

yankee-my fingers have been swollen for a week-one of the reasons i was worried about the headache.my hands keep going numb as well.its very starnge cos the only time ive had that before was when my bp was high, but its fine atm.

bethoo-semen contains prostaglandins, which are the hormones the pessaries they use to induce labour contain(well,a synthetic version).i knew sex was supposed to soften and thin the cervix ready for labour, but apparantly the prostaglandins are absorbed 10 times more effectivley through the gut

not that it matters now cos im sure dp just wants to be friends....

hello everyone else.

3rdtriMOSSter · 05/02/2007 13:01

Ah sorry Kiwibella! It was me who mentioned the cricket. Monty was our second choice of boy's name, and possibly because we were watching so much cricket at the time we were deciding. Well, dh's surname is "West" so we couldn't really have had Freddie!!

Piffle I think Finn is a lovely name.

My ms has come back over the last couple of days and I'm sitting quiet (sorry if tmi) trying to keep my dinner down.

Also I think my terrace with the fairies is definitely going through. Today I was talking to a candidate about a vacancy in a shipping company. It was only on the third time of describing it that I realised I'd been saying "sh*tting company". I kid you not.

Oh and last night there was a fella on the telly with a huge moustache and try hard as I could I just couldn't think of the word for it! "Dh you have to see this fella's erm, like a beard, on his face, under his nose, facial hair, arrrrgh what's the word!!?"

Yep, think those homebuyer surveys are gonna come back just fine.

3rdtriMOSSter · 05/02/2007 13:05

Ah Diva what's up with your dp, why does he just want to be friends? Are you okay?

Piffle · 05/02/2007 13:08

Diva is your DP jst being funny about your pregnancy or is it something more?
Hope you're ok....

Diva, hope all is well????

Piffle, sorry you are all itchy. I got very itchy towards the end of second preg. It drove me mental. Hope the blood tests come out ok. OC is a pretty rare thing to get.
I like the name fin too

Rosy I think it's a lovely name. Surely it doesn't really matter what it means. I've never taken any notice myself.

Theblonde, hope you are managing to cope with the flu

I'm so very tired i can barely concentrate or keep up with you talkers. Hope everyone's feeling ok though

The itching sounds horrendous.

Diva - I hope things with DP get easier for you.

Today I spent an hour in Sainsbury's and came out with one bag! I just had no idea what I went there for... I also felt like crying lots. Tried to get a grip and ended up buying a lemon cheesecake.

Kitty - Glad your belly seems to be getting bigger.. hope mine follows suit!

Really feeling like I can't wait to give birth now.. feeling pretty fed up at the moment.

Rosylily · 05/02/2007 14:36

Diva- It's not long now, you'll soon be yourself again.

I'm awful at the moment, if I have to walk too far I get a constant contraction and the buggy becomes my zimmer frame! My brain has turned to soup and the rest of my body has fed it to the baby. I have gone really thick and my clever sister is annoying me because she's so clever. humph. And people walking fast annoy me because I am bitter and twisted with jealousy!

I love all the names too, they sound great. I sent a txt with lists of boys and girls names I like and dh (the grumpy poo) said he didn't like any of them!

LunarSea · 05/02/2007 14:37

Are you still working Amie? I'm going to hopefully sneak a couple of hours off on Wednesday morning and do the Aquanatal then instead of Thursday as am planning to go to the Sutton Coldfield meetup Thursday night (I need someone to talk to - very quiet around here with dh and ds away). If you want a night out on Thursday I could pick you up if you want to tag along.

OP posts:
Rosylily · 05/02/2007 14:41

Booboo, I think that might be low blood pressure, my friend had that and I did too abit. I think you just have to rest and take it easy and its quite common and not as ominous as high blood pressure. I think...though brain mush, could be wrong.

3rdtriMOSSter · 05/02/2007 14:48

Booboo could it be your blood pressure? I felt really faint and dizzy a few months back. I nearly passed out on the train so the guard took me to a walk-in centre where they tested my blood pressure and apparently it was really low. It's not bad in the same way high bp can be, but it just means you have to be careful when getting up, and that sort of thing.

Rosy has your very helpful dh come up with any names he likes? I would love a real zimmer frame atm! I get half way through the park and I have to stop for a rest. This is half way through what should be a ten minute walk, btw!

Amie enjoy your cheesecake! I am as my ms has come back and now the thought of milky-based stuff (inc. choc) makes me feel sick.

3rdtriMOSSter · 05/02/2007 14:53

Sorry X-posts Rosy re: bp!

bethoo · 05/02/2007 14:57

Diva - i get you now reference the blow job bringing on labour! that is one of the few things that i could not bring myself to do unless it was chocolate flavoured!
all those who have swollen feet and hands, might be a good idea to call mw as isn't that a symptom of odema or pre-clampsia or something. do not want to scare anyone but may be worth looking into it.
my whole stomach feels so tight today and been getting cramps, bh i suppose!
Lemon cheesecake sounds good right about now!
well only 4 more working days to go til go on leave and my parents get me my pram. yippee!
