Thanks for the kind words all. I think I'm just embarrassed at having lost it so much, I cry when unwell at the best of times but pregnancy has taken it to a whole new level! elle current specialty is pretty chilled but there is a bit of standing on the ward round, I've just come from 6 months of being entirely clinic based so any standing is a shock! Thankfully no more changes for me, I'm starting mat leave at 35 weeks but with annual leave will be more like 33 weeks. What about you?

miley when you mentioned all the BHs I thought oooh maybe she'll go early (no idea if there is a correlation medically!).

Glad bridesmaiding went well soda.

I've had a lovely day, dh took me for lunch in London at one of my favourite restaurants, we had a little potter around and then he surprised me by taking me to buy a scarf I've been lusting after for months....the sales assistant was fab and really fussed over me helping me to choose and I just felt so much more like my old self, I shall wear the scarf from now on to offset the maternity frump! The pain has settled a lot too so hopefully will be ok for the week ahead....onwards and upwards!

Hi all - just catching up on thread as I've been out most of the weekend with friends in town visiting.

Congrats potato! Arya is gorgeous and I love the name!! Your birth experience sounds ideal and well deserved after the fibroid, house issues and the risk of pre-eclampsia. So happy for you to be able to go home so soon as well. Hope you're enjoying your newborn cuddles and falling in love with your LO.

thanks for sharing your birth story new - for all of us mums in waiting every bit of detail and information we can get is like gold. Especially admired how you made your own informed decisions during the birth.

bunch sorry to hear about the stitches and that they are still a problem. Hope the next round of antibiotics do the trick and that they don't bother Atticus too much. Glad to see you've been out and about though - baby Atticus looks so comfy all snuggled up with you!

32w for me this week and only 6 weeks left until ML. Time is going slow and fast at the same time it's so weird. No sign of any BH here either - but getting period pains.

PotatosMum · 22/08/2016 03:47

Hey all, feeling a lot more human for a few minutes. Arya's a different baby tonight. She went down at 8 and has so far woken at 12 and 2:30 fed well, had a nappy change and passed into a food coma! Perfect!!!

The motion sensor is binatone not belkin (getting confused) and I really recommend it for peace of mind. It's very easy to set up and use even when you're sleep deprived. I did look at the Angel care one but turning it on and off required you to follow a procedure and when you're exhausted its just too easy to forget. With this one you press a button and a blue light flashes every time it senses a breath or movement. which means you don't sit staring at your baby trying to see if their breathing
By the way, babies are often noisy when they sleep! They huff, grunt, grisle, wiggle, you name it they do it until they're deep asleep Smile

I know they tell you not to put anything in with your baby when they're sleeping but if your not co-sleeping you might find that folding your worn T-shirt from the day up and placing it under your baby's head will really help them settle.

When you have your baby I really recommend getting out for a very short walk ASAP. I just nipped into ASDA yesterday for bread and pain killers. I was very tired after but I felt so good about myself and it got the first baby outing out of the way without it mattering if we forgot stuff etc.

I can't remember if I said but I've now been put on tablets for high blood pressure. It's not ideal but I'm not surprised considering all the rubbish I ate while pregnant. That urge to eat and eat rubbish completely disappeared as soon as Arya was born though, which is great. I'm now eating healthier than I have in years.

For those soon to be mums, your first midwife appointment after they will chat to you about safe sleeping, check baby's cord stump, ask about feeding and pooping then take your blood pressure, temperature, feel your tummy and if you've had stitches they'll check those. She'll have a quick chat and deal with anything that arises then leave you to it.
Also, regarding bleeding. It isn't necessarily horrific. Mine has been the same as a heavy period and is already easing off. I've changed from the uncomfortable maternity pads to just extra long night time normal pads and they're doing the trick with no problem.

Ok, I think that's the extent of my parenting knowledge for today. Pink, Shelb I hope things get moving for you soon Grin everyone else hope you're doing well Smile

Here's a photo of Arya in her new bouncy chair, bouncy chairs are great, they can make the difference between eating your dinner and just poking it while trying to comfort a baby Confused

Morning!

Note the time - I slept through till 5.25!!!

Thanks for notes potato, really helpful and you sound like you're doing brilliantly!!! Ayra is gorgeous.

Woke to braxton hicks today but eaten something and they seem to be fading.

X

PotatosMum · 22/08/2016 07:34

Shelb so looking forward to coming on here and seeing you've gone into labour (you too Pink)

It's pretty hard to find time to post and read posts at the moment but if I come across anything I think worked well or came in handy I'll try to post about it Smile

Have a good day everyone Smile

PS everything smells of formula milk Hmm

Brilliant shelb! Glad you managed a decent sleep.

Thanks for the advice potato I'm baby brained though so will probably ask the same question a few times over I'm really loving these lovely baby photos though Grin

Ugh. Back to work today. I'm so ready for maternity leave - I could definitely do with another couple of hours in bed. 4 weeks to go...

leoniethelioness · 22/08/2016 07:52

Good morning! Feeling less grumpy this morning. DH is off today so we're going to visit our nephew and go out for lunch! Looking forward to baby cuddles later. 👶👶👶

Hope our three mums are all doing well and that anyone nearing the end isn't feeling too uncomfortable. 34+5 today and counting down the days until Wednesday's scan. I just want to know he is OK!

Canters Good luck this week. Good idea finishing quite early. I've been off since just before 33 weeks with my PGP and it's helped a lot - despite my frustrations and limitations and woe-is-me moments!

ElleSarcasmo · 22/08/2016 08:39

Thanks Soda, glad to know it's not just me! Thankfully it's minimal for now at least.

Potato thanks for the info about the monitor, I'll check that one out. Does it have a video as well? So confusing with all the choice!

Thanks for sharing about the bleeding Potato, that doesn't sound as bad as I'd feared.

Canters hope it goes well today. I'm planning to finish at 36 weeks (including annual leave etc) but will probably have to stop operating before that. They have said it's not a problem if I need to finish earlier, cut hours etc-I'm lucky that they've been really supportive.

Yay for the 'lie in' Shelb!
Leonie good luck for the scan this week.

IndiX · 22/08/2016 08:45

Morning ladies,

Hope you all had a nice weekend.

Thanks for the advice potato, I love hearing any tips and tricks you new Mum's have. I may put bouncy chair on the To Buy list along with a sleepyhead. Arya is just gorgeous and I'm glad she's sleeping and feeding well.

Bunch I hope you're doing ok and the antibiotics have started to help. Hopefully they don't affect Atticus too much.

Canters I'm sure everyone at work will be fine and you are totally entitled to have a cry when you're feeling shit. Hope you have a better day today. Glad that DH treated you, a new accessory always cheers me up tooSmile

Miley hope work goes ok, not long left! Grin

New I think I forgot to post but Jacob is so cute and I love the name. Hope you're doing well.

So this morning I have an appointment with the consultant to confirm I want to go ahead with the elective c section. I think I'll also get a date!!Grin I'm so excited to have an actual birth date for Beanie.
I had a bit of a meltdown last night, just a general whinge about being bored of being pregnant now, I want to feel back to my normal self even though I'll probably never feel back to my old self again, worried about if we have done the right thing etc. I think it was just hormones and tiredness tbh but I am getting bored of being pregnant. I should be grateful my pregnancy has gone so smoothly, which I am, but it's just bloody long and I'm starting to feel uncomfy. Anyway, I'm sure seeing the consultant will cheer me up, hopefully she books me in for 39w on the dot so I'll only have 6 weeks left!

Hope you all have a good day xx

BunchOfBobs · 22/08/2016 09:07

Morning all,

Had a very woe is me day yesterday hence no posting. The healed part of my stitches have started to degrade now too. I'm probably going to be referred to hospital for a review today to check the infection hasn't gone deeper. It's been delightfully drowning for the last 24 hours.

Re: baby monitors/motion pads we have the Angelcare and there's no procedure to turning it off an on in the night. Just a switch on the night light unit. If you forget to turn it off before taking baby out you get a one beep warning before the alarm kicks off. Inevitably we always have this one beep warning. Though it could be a different model you read about Potato?
Glad to hear Arya had a better night for you. Atticus like to wake up every 2 hours and feed for up to half hour including nappy changes. So I'm awake every 1.5 hours, feeling remarkably fine with it too.

We're going to register him at the GP today and try make an appointment to register his birth. That'll be the extent of my outings as I need to stay home and air my froo Hmm

I hope everyone who is uncomfortable has a better day and things ramp up for you both soon Pink and Shelb.

Pinklily1 · 22/08/2016 09:30

Morning all

Potato, Arya is gorgeous. Thanks for the tips too. It's reassuring to hear that the bleeding isn't too hideous.

bunch, I hope they check you out and all is ok, or can be rectified easily. It's exciting that you are going to register Atticus today Smile

Indi, I think it's natural to start feeling fed up. I've enjoyed pregnancy so far (apart from the awful sickness at the beginning), but if I'm honest I just want baby to be here now.

I've woken up feeling really sick this morning. I hope it's not a bug as I don't want to be poorly in the run up to birth Hmm

Pinklily1 · 22/08/2016 09:30

And yeah for the lie in Shelb, even if it was only until 5.30am!

Mileymoocow · 22/08/2016 09:35

indi with elective c sections what will happen if you go into labour early? I've always wondered!

bunch glad atticus is feeding well! Hopefully your hospital appointment will bring good news for you!

shelbTa · 22/08/2016 09:37

Morning

Thanks ladies.

Aww bunch, virtual hug. I guess the only upside of hospital is they will once and for all see what's going on? And if you need IV antibiotics that shit will hammer any infection.

Good luck with elective appointment indi.

Pink - I'm legit going to go buy two pineapples today and some double cream to go with.

X

Mileymoocow · 22/08/2016 09:39

Also should say indi I'm absolutely fed up too - it's not just you!! I hated every minute up until 23 weeks then sickness started calming down and I sort of enjoyed it for a little bit but now I'm just so bored of it and I'm getting really impatient. I don't understand people who say they enjoy pregnancy! I find it so difficult physically and mentally. Hmm

shelbTa · 22/08/2016 09:40

Pink - re sickness, I talked to my midwife about it and she said it can happen with hormones ramp up again. Hope you manage with it ok. X

Pinklily1 · 22/08/2016 09:46

Thanks Shelb. That's interesting to know.

I'm just psyching myself up to go shopping and will be stocking up on pineapples Smile I'm actually a bit obsessed with them at the minute, loving the sweetness of them and if they have the desired side effect, that's a bonus!

Mileymoocow · 22/08/2016 09:59

pink funny you say that, I've just had to dash to the loo at work to be sick after about half an hour of feeling nauseous. Hoping it's not a bug too. Hope you feel better soon.

IndiX · 22/08/2016 10:29

Miley yeah it's just draining, I'm trying to be as normal as possible and positive but some days i just think 'omg get this baby out'.
If I go in to labour early then I will still get my c section but it'll be classes as an emergency. Basically at the slightest niggle/contraction I have to phone the hospital to get it done ASAP as its harder once labour progresses properly. I'm hoping beanie is a good girl and stays put until her birthday!
Sorry you've just been sick, hopefully it's not a bug!

Bunch I'm sorry you're having a tough time with your stitches. I can't imagine how painful they must be and how you must just feel helpless waiting for them to heal. I really hope they get better quickly. It's completely normal to feel down, I think anyone would if they had a very sore moo!

BunchOfBobs · 22/08/2016 10:55

Indi and everyone I'm terrifying with my stitches story, the pain is actually okay now. I'm on top of it with the paracetamol and ibuprofen, It's only when I pee it's bad and I've solved that by getting in the shower every time I need to pee and using the head for a personal dilution apparatus Wink what's getting me down is its at least 4 weeks healing time apparently and they've yet to stop getting worse so that 4 week countdown hasn't even begun yet. And yesterday the iron tablets kicked my ass literally so my piles started bleeding and it just felt like one thing after another. The most annoying thing is it needs as much air time as possible which means I'm bed bound and house bound to stop the associated mess getting everywhere. I can only go out for short periods of time so that I'm not wearing pads for long. It's just cabin fever inducing and frustrating as hell.

Next check at noon... We'll see. Apparently hospital will just do a check on if the infection is deep but I'm hopeful if it needs a clean or iv antibiotics they'll do that whilst there.

Danni89 · 22/08/2016 11:14

Wow lots to catch up on, had a busy weekend of weddings and christening, hope everyone is doing well.

Feeling for you bunch, hope it gets better ASAP.

potato, Arya is just gorgeous- thanks for all the advice and tips

new Jacob is lovely, love that name

indi I know what you mean, this last trimester is a draggg, want the baby here now (37+1)

Hope the pineapple helps you two shelb/ pink

LisaTheSimpson · 22/08/2016 11:29

Ahh.. I was up from around 4am today, but couldn’t get the app to work for some reason. And now I’m bogged down in stuff at work. Anyway, some thoughts from what I’ve missed….

Soda - how on earth were you out dancing until 1am?? You have serious stamina – I’m in bed by 10, if not 9, every night.

Potato - that photo of Arya is adorable! She’s so gorgeous and snuggly. Thank you for sharing all the info about your experience and what the midwife does in the first after visit – really useful. I’ve heard someone else say a bouncy chair is really useful, so I think we’ll investigate and get one.

Miley - also ready for leave over here. I’m starting to get quite achy and tired if I stand or walk for too long (though I also get it if I sit for too long, so I really just need to keep gently mobile). Last day is 15th Sept, which both feels a very long way away, and very soon at the same time! Sorry to hear you’ve been sick again – I thought I had it bad, but at least it disappeared around 20 weeks; it’s so rubbish you’ve got it back again 

Sorry to hear about your froo-froo, Bunch, that’s such a pain. I hope they can resolve it quickly and let you back to being mobile and enjoying Atticus without all the pus and problems with the piles.

Mileymoocow · 22/08/2016 12:29

lisa my last day is 15th too - 17 working days after today and counting! I know what you mean! I'm not used to being sat at my desk for 8 hours a day it would be unsafe for me to venture much further than the office due to the nature of the products made here Hmm so I'm book checking thousands of calculations and it's a drag! Sickness has been funny for me. Constant until 23 weeks and then tapered off to almost nothing. Now we're back to 2 or 3 tines a week!

Mileymoocow · 22/08/2016 13:39

Ladies I've just been to the loo and had big lumps of jelly like snotty stuff when I wiped... quick Google has made me panic it's my show. Am I over reacting or should I be concerned?

IndiX · 22/08/2016 13:42

Back from my appt.
I have a date! Beanie's birthday will be 7th October Grin that's if all things go to plan and she doesn't come early (i'll be 39+2) or there aren't too many emergencies on that day, as then they would push my section back a day or fit me in where they could. I'm so excited! I have so much to do in the house today but I can't settle or put my mind to anything.
