Evening everyone,

Congratulations new! Lovely news, can't wait to hear all about your new little baby boy.

Will have to properly catch up tomorrow, I'm currently feeling sorry for myself with a sore back and ankle. Grabbing a hot chocolate then getting in to bed.

Hope you're all well x

Mileymoocow · 18/08/2016 21:04

ni that's what my mum used to tell me! 😂

irregular haha, I guess all Capricorns then?

soda that dress is lovely! Looks so much more flattering than mine was. Also, thank you (and everyone else as well) she's an absolute peach, I love her! I'm definitely so much more impatient to meet my little one now though.

potato glad you're sorted. Luckily never had to deal with fleas but my mum's cat had them when he disappeared for a couple of days and she had a nightmare as she was allergic to their bites! Not pleasant

IrregularCommentary · 18/08/2016 21:05

Not posted much as have been having a major background grump about still being fucking pregnant. The second trimester "glow" has well and truly gone and I just feel huge and emotional and farty and tired and my back hurts... etc! I don't want her to come early (33weeks today) as I want her fully cooked, but bloody hell another 7 weeks feels like a really fucking long time.

Miley - hope you feel better soon lovely, keep sat down on the chocolate hobnobs couch and listen to your OH about taking it easy.

Potato - fingers crossed it's not pre eclampsia, I hope she comes soon for you as well, you sound pretty fed up too (with a few weeks more reason than me as well!)

New - Congratulations! So glad to hear your news. Hope you're doing well.

Bunch - hope the muscle is ok, doesn't sound like much fun. I'm sure Atticus makes it all worth it though, he's just adorable.

Co5mo - Hope everything goes well with your scans, must be worrying even if a lay problem is unlikely. Try and enjoy extra peeking at baby at least Smile

I'm sure I've missed loads of people out, am reading every day and keeping up to date but I always forget half of what I meant to say as soon as I start typing!

Mileymoocow · 18/08/2016 21:07

indi sorry you're suffering too. We have a huffy couch set up here for those of us with a bad back if you'd like to join? Worked my way through half a packet of hob nobs and now have banana milkshake and some milka chocolate.

What are people's thoughts on taking infants abroad? What would you consider too young? My dad wants to book a villa for next September (11 months old) but 1) I really don't want to tempt fate by booking it before baby is even here and 2) not sure I'd enjoy the holiday with a child that may be toddling/teething and also may be too hot?!

Danni89 · 18/08/2016 21:27

miley I think the holiday will be fine, apparently it's good to get a holiday in before they start walking about too much... I'm hoping we can fit a little holiday in before heading back to work full time

IrregularCommentary · 18/08/2016 21:32

My friends took their 8 month old to Menorca last month Miley and had a great time. I think they're easier when they're a bit younger - once they're proper toddlers they're harder to supervise!

LillianFullStop · 18/08/2016 21:46

sorry to those on the huffy couch Cake Cake

miley I think I would wait until at least they have had their immunisations at 3 months - the recycled air on a plane freaks me out with random people coughing etc. 11 months is definitely doable - I agree with danni friends have said traveling with babies is easier than with a toddler as they sleep more, need less entertainment/stimulation and less likely to want to walk up and down the aisles.

I am planning a long haul flight at 6 months to bring LO to visit family and to go to a wedding (I'm a bridesmaid). I wish I hadn't gone around telling family that i was coming to visit them as now no one has planned to come and visit or give us a hand for when LO is born. I'm a bit sore about it actually!! I'm sure DH and I will be fine on our own but a lot of my friends have their parents or in laws coming in the first 3 months to give them a hand even with just cooking and tidying. DH only has 2 weeks off so I'm hoping LO is easy going and my physical recovery isn't too horrendous. Starting to FREAK OUT over the potential state of my foof after childbirth and have found myself shopping for postnatal care stuff more than baby stuff the last week Confused

shelb the cramps sound promising!!

So I've decided to buy a couple of reusable nappies to try - went with a couple of the Tots Bots Bamboozle Stretch and now looking for a wrap - bunch do you recommend the Motherease Rikki? Hope you're healing has sped up Flowers

PotatosMum · 18/08/2016 22:34

Pink I'm taken the water retention below my belly button as a good thing as it means it's not all fat!!! Grin but swelling, plus high blood pressure, plus sparkly lights in front of my eyes, plus protein in my urine when together are not good Confused

Shelb I know what you mean about reading stuff into every little thing.

I've got a few cramps around my bump, still getting BH but I think they're getting stronger if not more regular. They now start on the top of my belly then travel down round to my back and TMI but down to my butt hole which they make feel weird Confused they're definitely pretty uncomfortable now although not painful.
I've also started getting that pulling sensation you get when your period is about to start. It's not constant just off and on.
Still hopeful that it might happen this weekend!

Aww Indi I hope the hot chocolate and early night make you feel better.

Irregular sorry you're finding T3 a bit poo, it's not fun or comfortable and when I was at 33 weeks I remember feeling like the next 7 weeks would last forever but they don't, they go surprisingly quickly.

Miley I'd go for the holiday, they're might be some inconvenience but I'm sure you'll have a good time.

PotatosMum · 19/08/2016 01:21

Well, I'm still awake. I'm verging on saying I'm having contractions. They are definitely stronger, located mostly in my back and every time I have one I feel like I need a poo Confused

The only reason I'm hesitant is that I want to time them getting closer together. OH is asleep and I don't want to wake him unless I have to because if this is the real thing tomorrow night be a very long day Shock

OP posts:
PotatosMum · 19/08/2016 03:06

Well I'm still awake, still getting contractions and they're much worse in severity but still pretty far apart. I'm so tired but laying down is painful and makes the contractions much worse.
At the moment they're ranging between 8 and 12 minutes apart and are so strong that I can't do anything other than brace myself, try to breath and hope they pass quickly.

This is not fun!

BunchOfBobs · 19/08/2016 03:52

Potato, take some paracetamol. Honestly it helps. Try to rest, I know that's easy to say but the no sleep utterly killed me. I did find lying down too painful too and the ball the easiest place for contractions though. Also a bath was lovely.
Very exciting though Grin

PotatosMum · 19/08/2016 04:06

Thanks Bunch

Just called the delivery ward and was told to take paracetamol and bare with it at home as long as I could, although she did say that from the sound of me I'd be heading up there before long.
OH is now awake and insisted that we get up and dressed. He also wanted us to go to the hospital there and then but we're going to wait and see if they get worse.

Absolutely no chance I'll be able to sleep... Just too painful to lie down so I'm just going to have to grin and bare it Confused

Eeekkk potato how exciting!!!!! Certainly sounding like it.

I'm up too, but Pretty sure mine are just braxton hicks as came on after a wee.

Thinking of you, Potato!

new huge congratulations 💐

Just going to catch up on everyone else now.

Sodasoda · 19/08/2016 07:02

Good luck potato! Hope all goes well xx

Mileymoocow · 19/08/2016 07:02

Yay potato I'm so so so so excited!!!!! Hope all is going well and you're already at the hospital

PotatosMum · 19/08/2016 07:24

Hello all, just back from the hospital. I had contractions all the way there, could barely walk across the car park and had a massive contraction outside the ward... The moment I stepped into the ward my contractions stopped Hmm

I'm in early labour, 2cm dilated and have been sent home to rest until contractions start up again. Midwife was laying bets on me being back this evening but if not I have to go into the day assessment unit tomorrow.

Mileymoocow · 19/08/2016 07:35

Ah potato, typical! At least you know you're on your way to the finish line. How bad is the pain? Hopefully it's manageable!

BunchOfBobs · 19/08/2016 07:37

Potato it's really common and you're out of your comfort zone. Get some sleep whilst you can, eat some slow release energy foods and flapjacks. Rest rest rest. So excited for you.
It didn't take me long to go from 2cm to 5 cm when I was contracting but I didn't sleep or eat the whole time and massively regretted it.

PotatosMum · 19/08/2016 07:46

Miley the pain at the moment is very little. Contractions seem to be thinking about starting up again but they're not in any great hurry.
The contraction pain is really hard to explain, the pain in your back is more along the lines of an ache that is so intense it takes your breath away, in your tummy it's overshadowed by your back and in your bottom it's like having stomach flu where your body is trying to poop but you can't and your muscles are so tired you can't do anything.

Bunch thanks. OH was going crazy watching me in pain so I went more for him. I'd heard going into hospital too soon can halt contractions so I didn't really want to go but I'm glad I did.
Going to get some sleep now. Hopefully back to the hospital to have Potato later Grin

Eek so exciting potato.
I found my contractions felt like really bad period pains meets I need a shit and a pee really bad and someone is squeezing my guts and bladder. I had hideous back ache too as he was partially back to back, awkward sod!
