Congratulations to Bunch our first graduate, graduate!!!!

All are welcome to the thread whether you've just got your BFP or your about to pop!

No TMI is TMI and no question too silly to be asked. But be warned, this thread is addictive and moves FAST!

Leonie don't get me wrong, I love DSS but there's a vast difference between the love and comfort between parent and child and step-parent and child. I'd kill anyone who hurt him but equally I don't want him to be around me when I'm completely vulnerable.

Oh and nope, he's not excited to meet his half sister. He already has a little sister and I'm pretty sure he would have been happier if I'd never had kids of my own. He's come to terms with it now but I think it will be a long time, if ever that he feels any connection with the baby. To him she's just an inconvenience.

Potato, get eating the pineapple, curry raspberry leaf tea etc. You're not far off your due date so you never know!

It's good that FIL can look after him if needs be, although I'd still be having more words with my OH if it were me. I understand that he won't want to disappoint DSS but the focus at the minute has to be on the priorities - you and baby Potato. Hopefully it will all work out

Shelb, is the sleep not getting any better? Are you getting reflux or anything or is it literally just insomnia?

I only had to get up once during the night to go to the toilet, which is unheard off. You'd think I would be grateful but it's just unnerved me Pregnancy is mind boggling

pink I feel like that if I have a dry night too! Can never just be worry-free can it. I'm doing ok this morning, just the usual tiredness from back pain and heartburn keeping me up. I did get up and start to get ready for work but got growled at to 'get back to bed now' with a threat of being locked in the house on his way to work. So I'm slobbing it up with Netflix, antibiotics, a giant fan the blowy type. Vaj type is catching up and snacks.

potato I'd be so angry if I was you! How could she not know that she was putting on to you massively! You deserve a week just the three of you to adjust and get into a routine.

bunch how are you doing today? How's Atticus doing?

My cousin is calling over with her little girl at the weekend. She is absolute perfection, I'm so wildly in love with her I'm scared that when I have my own I will actually die because my heart will explode. Emotions are fun.

Sorry you're having funny dreams and back ache canters it does mess with your mind! Dsis has been installed at our house all week by dh because of my sleep walking. Frightened the living bejeesus out of him a couple of times last week!

potato I get it completely, dss is 13 and I love him, but no way would I choose to have him there full time just after birth. I would push for him to be staying with your FIL. Unless he's going to be super helpful, it just really sounds like extra faff. If he lived with you full time already he would be going to his mum's or a friends while you were giving birth!

miley I'm pulling up a pew next to you! Hand me the chocolate! Thanks for the support guys. I eventually caved and took some co codamol and it eased it off enough so I could get back to sleep. Good thought re uti, I'll dip my wee at work tomorrow.

Potato I cant imagine having anyone staying after having just had a baby, I think you should put your foot down on this one!

Thanks ladies, I've chilled a bit now. I can't do anything about it so I'm just going to deal. DSS probably won't be in much anyway, he'll be out in the nice weather with his mates.

So, midwife appointment hasn't gone to plan. I'm being sent back to the day assessment unit for high blood pressure and protein in my urine. Once again they're checking for preeclampsia. I'm also only 3/5 engaged so will probably need to be referred back to the consultant but midwife wants the day assessment unit to sort that out. She also wants to see me again next week and said in passing that what happens next depends on how long they decide to let me go, whether I have preeclampsia or whether they decide to put me on blood pressure meds. It's all fun this morning!!!!

Oh God potato that doesn't sound good at all! Hopefully you'll get started off if you have pre eclampsia (if that's what you want of course!)

How old is DSS, Potato?

Sorry to hear about the blood pressure and protein - hopefully they will be able to rule out pre-eclampsia. Hopefully you will know more once you have been assessed. Maybe they can check again whether the head is engaged? I'll cross my fingers for you!

Poor DSis has been told that baby might have jaundice so it's looking like she might have to stay in again... She is extremely unhappy. She just wants to get home now with her little baby boy.

Bunch Have you heard anything about Tots Bots Bamboozle Stretch (Stretchies) or Charlie Banana nappies? The Nappy Lady recommended the Stretchies as one option for night-time use and Charlie Bananas for daytime use. I'm thinking of just ordering the Stretchies now - to ease us into cloth nappies - although I really, really want the Charlie Bananas because they are SO CUTE. It starts to get quite expensive upfront though... And I know he is just going to poop in them so they don't need to be pretty... Since I am expecting a decent sized baby, I think I'll be able to use the size 2 Stretchies (9 to 35 lbs) quite quickly, which will also give me time to use up the disposables I've been given.

Feeding is going amazing Pink, thanks. No sore nipples, no tender boobs. Lots of milk, little sod likes to take a mouthful and spit it all over me and there is plenty!

Miley he's doing amazing thank you. Just had our Heath visitor round for the first time and she seemed to think we're doing amazing woohoo. I'm feeling good but DH thinks my wound has got worse again, yesterday midwife said just the skin was open 1cn wide and 4cm long. Today DH thinks there's a hole so that might the the muscle layer undoing too. Fun times. Sorry to scare you all.
I'm firmly with your OH and you should be in bed today!!

Leonie the tots bots bamboozle stretchies I've heard amazing things about. Supposedly great night time nappies. I've not heard much on Charlie bananas. Depending on how you feel about it there are loads of preloved groups on Facebook where you can buy them second hand and much cheaper. I'm using TJs newborn pocket nappies at the mo as Atticus is too small for the size ones little lambs and tots bots we have, remarkably. Also check out your local
Council and if they do any offers. Most offer some incentive, mine gave me £100 cash back!

Miley, Canters can I join you on the sofa? Now confined to the spare room at night so I can sleep sitting up to try and relieve hip pain which didn't help at all last night

Potato fx they rule out preeclampsia.

Soda I'm so pleased to hear your growth scan went well. It's good that the exception to the rule with the results from mine. Feel left a little in limbo atm.

Sorry to hear about Miley and Canters in pain. I'm sending lots of chocolate biscuits and nice things to your sofa.

Potato - agree with the others, the plan with your DSS does not sound fun (for anyone). Also, I feel quite sorry for him that his mum would want him to be around with you guys when mini Potato is born, as surely the house will be disruptive with crying and getting up in the night. I don't think she's really thought about him in this scenario (obviously hasn't thought about you either, but it sounds like there's quite a pattern there....).

What colour are you painting the baby room, Stardrey? Is it pretty much ready to go otherwise?

Update - Potato, so sorry to hear about the extra PE checks. Fingers crossed everything is ok and they're just being cautious.

Remind us - how far along are you now? Around 38-39 weeks?

bunch can't they do anything about it? It sounds hideous! poor you. Glad BFing is going well, I've heard nothing but horror stories from people so it's nice to hear you're coping well!

co5mo you're more than welcome. It's roomy enough to stretch out on and still not be able to get bloody comfortable plus lisa has just replenished biscuit stocks which is good, because most of the chocolate hobnobs are in my stomach.

stardry did DH do the paint run?? Eeeek exciting times decorating the nursery. I loved doing ours ❤

Oh leonie your poor Dsis I have a bit of a hospital phobia so it's my worst nightmare to be kept in longer than overnight! Hope little man is ok

Miley apparently they don't re stitch as it can cause more trauma, we need to get rid of the infection then wait for it to heal apparently. Well that was the plan when just the skin separated. Yet to see if it's the same story for muscle and even if I have muscle separation. Fingers crossed I don't. I'm doing everything I can though, showering twice a day, no soap. Air drying, Rinsing with water after peeling, sleeping with no pad or knickers on. Antibiotics and regular pain meds.

Sounds like you're doing all you can, Bunch. Hope you start to notice some improvement soon.

Miley How are you feeling now? Stupidly spent the morning online looking at work emails and cloth nappies at my computer so will invariably be spending the afternoon flat out (well, on my side) on the sofa. I can't get into season 4 of Orange is the New Black. I'm persevering but it's not happened yet.

We've got one purple wall so I just want to get some of that dulux once amd go over it in yellow. Dh hasn't even opened his eyes yet. My sis forgot her drink so I meandered to the shop and had a walk to the farm! Feel better for it! I need to get the cot from ikea. But other than the painting and the end twiddly bits I think I'm fairly organised so far! I want to do the painting while he's away for something to do!

Bollocks, just remembered I've got to phone hospital to have blood taken, should have done it last week and completely forgot! Dog wound healing well, bruising still quite epic!

Poor you bunch definetly stay rested and still.

I feel awful for you all with bad backs and sore hips! Waiting for it to kick in for me, which I'm sure will be soon! Why I want to get the baby's room sorted ASAP now!

Dsis has decided that hormonal pregnant women (me, she means) shouldn't be allowed to name children. This is probably because I rang her going "what do you think of Zeppelin!? Or Hendrix?! I think they're so cool!" And she had to talk me down because we are not rockstars or American.

I think a girl in my NCT class has a nephew called Hendrix, Audrey. I thought it was a bit out there at first but it sounded natural the more she said it! Zeppelin is a bit too adventurous for me but Zephyr is tres cool.

Audrey I absolutely love the name Hendrix and wanted to call our labrador that! Wasn't allowed, apparently a chocolate lab isn't rock n roll enough. Says who?! I think he looks cool 😂 biggest dork going also, yay for yellow nursery!

Leonie I'm doing OK thanks, my ears and throat are more itchy now than stabby razor blade pain so I'm gonna get out of bed and do some housework. I'm gonna binge watch OITNB on mat leave. Haven't seen any of it yet!

Sorry everyone! Baby boy new was born on Tuesday night! All is well with us both. He's an 8lb 5oz little monster who has been keeping me busy.
