Morning

Miley - glad you're feeling better.

Potato - to be honest, it was a trainee midwife who examined me. The baby has never felt so low so I'm questioning whether she got it right. Nevertheless I'm hammering the bouncing ball today to try and get her back down! No more symptoms apart from insomnia and nausea!!!

X

Sodasoda · 17/08/2016 08:46

Morning everyone,

Home today Sad

36 weeks today and Ovia is telling me that lack of hunger could be happening now. No, no it is not! Got 36 week growth scan this afternoon, looking forward to seeing baby again.

Leonie yes to leg cramps! DH made a deal with me that I have to shout 'ow leg ' in bed as he was jumping out of bed thinking it was baby! I guess it must be slightly unnerving having your heavily pregnant wife wailing ow in the night! Grin

Potato hoping for baby appearance this weekend for you.

Shelb how annoying about the midwife.

Miley glad you're feeling better.

leoniethelioness · 17/08/2016 09:20

Hope baby is growing well, Soda!

Danni89 · 17/08/2016 09:42

Morning everyone

Glad you had a nice break soda and hope the scan goes well

Glad you're feeling better miley

Hope new is doing ok

OH is off work today, so we're off to Mothercare/next to get last bits and bobs

Hope everyone has a good day x

HepKestrel · 17/08/2016 10:12

Thanks Potato, you are into the home stretch then? Good luck tomorrow !
hormones and tiredness are not a good combination! working from home/bed today.

sodaleonie i'll add leg cramps to the unexpected list of things i might have to forward to. Confused

Work is so quiet as many people are off at the moment. so i can easily hide at home without being noticed.

my unromantic OH is being really good, automatically took over "litter tray duties" and looking at healthy food options, and not fussing over me too much IYKWIM. He also (with no prompting from me), said he would discuss with work about transferring so he travels less), i said he should wait till 1st scan......

But, he is a bit clueless...

when i told him i finally had a bfp, his second question was whether it was a boy or a girl ! Hmm

Does anyone know a good pregnancy/baby book for dads? He might need it !

LillianFullStop · 17/08/2016 10:14

Ah yes to the leg cramps too since 22 weeks - I much prefer getting them in the eve before bed rather than being rudely awoken by them. I'd be in agony DH will say - "you should eat more salt" I don't bloody need salt I need help - help me! help me! It's horrid!!! Yoga teacher says to stretch with toes pointing upwards instead of downwards to relieve it.

Glad you're feeling better miley but boo to going back to work.

soda one legged squats WTF?! I wouldn't be able to do those at the best of times let alone with a T3 bump! madness!

leonie horrid about the bed bugs!!! do you have a sleep sack you can use? I'm allergic to bed bug bites (they swell and blister and take months to heal after) and I used a very thin silk one on a camping trip as a lining between my skin and any questionable beds or sleeping bags I had to use. Quite good I avoided most bites it goes all the way up to cover your head and ears.

LisaTheSimpson · 17/08/2016 10:42

Hep - I've had a few people recommend Commando Dad to me as being good for fathers (both during pregnancy and with newborns and children).

Haven't bought it myself as DH prefers to internet everything, but it's got really good reviews.

Pinklily1 · 17/08/2016 10:47

Morning all!

Hep, I bought my OH the Haynes Manual to being a dad. It's funny but also quite informative.

Just had my 38 week midwife appointment. Baby is almost fully engaged - only 1/5th of head still above the pelvis. She said baby is also in an ideal position for birth (left lateral apparently..?!) and she doesn't think I'll make it as far as 40 weeks. I'm booked in for a sweep at 40+1 though just in case and at that appointment they will then book me in for an induction to take place 7 days after due date, in case it's needed. Standard procedure here apparently.

I asked about period pain Potato and Shelb and the midwife said its a good sign as it shows the cervix is softening in preparation for labour.

Hope everyone else's appointments over the next few days go well.

AudreyBradshaw · 17/08/2016 10:49

Wtf is a one legged squat ovia? Is that like a lunge?! Because that's how I have to pick things up, either a lunge or a curtsey! Or I just decide to leave it there!

Hope new is ok! And all other labour waiters!

Not sure about books hep although I know a few here got their dh's instruction manuals! I haven't bothered with dh, I just read out things to him, he really struggles (dyslexic and was never discovered until adulthood, taught himself to read at 18) I'm trying to get him to do an adult learning course in basic English leading to a GCSE, because I think it would really help him.

shelbTa · 17/08/2016 10:58

Eeeekkkk pink that's so exciting! You could be next! Thanks for asking about the period pain

X

leoniethelioness · 17/08/2016 11:05

Exciting news, Pink!

IndiX · 17/08/2016 11:14

Hi everyone,

I got a few more hours sleep thank god, hope you did too shelb.
*
Leonie* I've heard tonic water is the best thing for leg cramps, I sometimes drink it anyway so I feel like I'm having a G&TSmile

Miley glad you're feeling better today!

I'm 32 weeks today and I braved the scales..so far 25lbs gain which I'm quite happy about never thought I would say that considering I ate crap most of last week I thought I'd be about 2 and a half stone up by now.

Good luck for your scan soda.

I have my 32 week midwife appt this afternoon but first I need to sort the house out, washing needs to be done and I'll fit in a spin class before I hit my 3/4pm slump where I can't do anything but sleep!
Hope you all have a lovely day

LillianFullStop · 17/08/2016 11:14

hep DH picked up What to Expect When You're Expecting. I know it's probably one of the older pregnancy books but it's the latest edition and quote informative and up to date. Not too much humour and emotional stuff - mostly facts but I think that suits my DH. Goes into all details from pregnancy symptoms, baby's growth all through labour, birth interventions and recovery and even what to do with a newborn (feeding, etc)

audrey I've become quite adept at picking things up with my toes. I might be able to play the guitar with them soon. But yes if it's too big for my toes I just leave it there or ask DH! Weirdest thing is when someone drops something in front of me these days, my first instinct is to pick it up and hand it to them - but instead I just stare at the pen/toy/coins for a few seconds in confusion then just awkwardly walk away Confused

Yay to being engaged pink! We could have more thread babies in the next week or so!

LisaTheSimpson · 17/08/2016 11:39

Yay, Pink, that's so exciting!

Do you feel ready and want this baby to come soon? Or would you rather it hung around cooking a bit for a week or so?

leoniethelioness · 17/08/2016 11:50

I've just had my referral through for my antenatal physiotherapy triage appointment! Grin Happy Leonie! Smile It's a month before my due date but hopefully it'll make the last few weeks of my pregnancy more comfortable. I have a form to fill in to rate how problematic I find to do various things like dress myself, bend down, walk for more than 60 minutes (ummm when did I last do that?!), run (again?!), have a normal sex life (...), etc. and have a booklet of pregnancy exercises that I could do.

Off to see the midwife. My appointment is at 1:30, it's a mile away, but I'm going to leave in about half an hour... Blush I think it will take me 30 minutes to walk a mile (... I know Sad Sad) so I should have some time to spare. I've realised I've not drank anything but tea and coffee (decaff) all morning and need to give a urine sample so downing water as I type to make up for it! Halo

PotatosMum · 17/08/2016 12:24

Leonie yes to leg cramps. I have to remember to stretch with my heels down not my toes or I end up doubled up in pain Sad

Good luck for your midwife appointment.

Planet eek bed bugs! Can you not get an exterminator in?

Feef I can't advise packing now strongly enough if you're moving at 30+ weeks.

Shelb ah, the student ones are a bit rubbish. It was a student i had to show how to use a Doppler... And there was a student at one of my appointments who had never heard of a fibroid. If she still feels really low I wouldn't worry.

Soda good luck for your scan Smile

Pink that's amazing that baby is in such a good position, sounds like you might beat both Shelb and I to the finishing post!
Good news about the period pains. I'm tempted to get on my pregnancy ball too, I've had enough and I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to give Potato some encouragement.

Audrey your explanation of the many ways you have to pick things up made me giggle. I just don't bother any more if I'm honest. A roll of tape has been on the floor all week after I dropped it at the weekend but it's far to difficult to pick it up. I now have to do a sort wide legged squat to reach the floor now, it's not attractive!!

Indi good luck at the midwife. Can't believe you're still spinning!!! You must be some kind of super woman. I get winded just filling the washing machine!

Still no internet here Sad wifi box hasn't arrived so even though it's connected I can't use it. This sucks!

Also, BH have all but stopped Sad

Had another funny turn this morning and managed to pass out then vomit when i came round, so was bullied by OH to call the doctor again Hmm called doc who referred me to PAU to rule out pre eclampsia. Urine clear, blood pressure low but normal for me and hooked up to a monitor for 30 mins. All fine and apparently I feel like this due to my ear and throat infection and also because I'm severely constipated. Who would have guessed Blush managed to get them to refer me to physio for my back, though! So am hoping that will help. I also have a prescription for lactalose so bring on the poop! Baby has dropped low which I would have thought was too early but apparently is completely fine and according to my trace, I'm having a hell of a lot of BH but I can't feel them?!

hep hilarious that your OH thought a pregnancy test could tell you the gender! Grin that made me giggle.

leonie hope midwife appointment goes well! I'm with you on taking ages to walk anywhere, it's so frustrating.

pink very exciting!!! Hope that 1/5th hurries up and drops into your pelvis soon. We need more babies to coo over. So yes potato get on that ball and bounce away!

danni enjoy your last minute shopping trip! Grin slightly jealous.

indi I can't believe you're still managing spinning class! You're making me feel really bad 😂 hope midwife goes well

LisaTheSimpson · 17/08/2016 14:10

Bloody hell, Miley, that must have been scary. You poor thing.

So you passed out and vomited because of an ear and throat infection? That sounds horrible. Have they given you any medication or told you to rest more?

How are you now?

leoniethelioness · 17/08/2016 14:43

Miley Hope you're OK. Sorry to hear you feel so rough.

Back from my 34 week appointment. I've been referrer for a growth scan as I'm measuring big. The midwife didn't seem too concerned but that it was worth checking out just in case.

AudreyBradshaw · 17/08/2016 15:05

Omg miley you're having a 'mare! Sending lots of positive thoughts and love your way! You poor thing!

shelbTa · 17/08/2016 15:57

Bloody hell miley! Take it easy x

IndiX · 17/08/2016 15:57

Miley I hope you're feeling better soon! You've had a tough time, do you think the anti biotics could be making you feel crap? I know I always go a bit funny on medication as I'm not used to it. Just rest and get yourself better..and eats lots of ice cream and lolly ices for your throat Hmm

Leonie how much bigger were you measuring? I'm sure you'll be fine but they have to be cautious, if the midwife didn't seem worried then I'm sure everything will be ok. Plus you get to see baby again!

Just back from my 32 week appt, next time I see her is 36 weeks which seems scarily close to D Day! Everything was fine, measuring 1cm under but no concern, Beanie's heart beat nice and strong, blood pressure was good and apparently my iron levels are perfect.
This sounds a bit odd but I've only just realised how proud I/we should be for making our babies..no one has helped us (OH just planted the seed) and we are making a human, an actual human being! Having a very 'proud to be a woman' moment Grin

leoniethelioness · 17/08/2016 16:10

I'm measuring 36 cm at 34 weeks but it puts me way over my personalised growth chart...

Mileymoocow · 17/08/2016 16:13

lisa apparently my body is fatigued. I guess I did run round from Thursday til Sunday morning but I didn't expect that would cause infections and then this! OH isn't having any of it and is certain there's something more.

indi that's a possibility - I never take tablets so I could be having a funny reaction to them. Glad your appointment went well! I agree, women are pretty amazing. I sometimes think about how amazing it is our bodies grow a human to the right size and just know how to do it without ever having done any special training for it, then expel said human through our parts and survive the ordeal and of course just know how to look after it!

Thank you ladies for the kind messages I've had an hours sleep under the watchful eye of OH I feel pretty awful but there's not a lot I can do other than trust the doctor and midwife that nothings wrong apart fron the fact I have an ear and throat infection and I can't shit Hmm

Mileymoocow · 17/08/2016 16:15

leonie I'm sure baby will be perfect. They refer for anything +/- 2cm I think but it's usually because the way of measuring is just a best guess. Yay for seeing baby again though Grin
