Congrats Leonie, and to your sister.

Thanks Miley, also second here for the ball for helping with back. I found it nice to be on the ball but leaning onto the kitchen table IYSWIM to help stretch it out.
I was also a bit of a ball bouncer but a swayer during labour.

leoniethelioness · 16/08/2016 08:33

I've managed to avoid backache but I have got coccyx and pelvic pain. The ball helps a lot with coccyx pain but sometimes makes my hips sore. I tend to lie on my side as it helps the most with my pain although it can be achy and uncomfortable after a while. The ball does seem to help - I tend to just bounce up and down.

Can't wait to meet baby Isaac tonight - he looks so cute!

PotatosMum · 16/08/2016 09:07

Leonie congrats on being an auntie Grin glad your sister and baby are doing well Smile

Shelb UTI is Sucky, but hopefully the midwife will give you some antibiotics to clear it right up.

Miley sorry you've got an infection but really antibiotics won't do baby any harm. I think we've all had to have at least one course of them.

No advice for the back pain here, I just grin and bare it Confused

I've just had a spurt of energy and de-spidered the house again probably 20 of the buggers but mostly teeny ones. I think the previous owners never hoovered before they decided to sell as there are just so many bugs in the house. I don't know how the lived in it!
Oh, and I emptied the Hoover outside, not one spider left alive so I think the trick is to leave the Hoover on for a few minutes after sucking them up so that they're pummelled/shredded. Grin
Also, if you ever have one of the buggers hiding in a crack that you can't get to, fly spray works just as well on spiders, although I only use it in emergencies as even I think it's a bit cruel.

Morning all.

Really struggling to keep up with the thread, so sorry if I keep missing loads.

New if you're reading this we're all rooting for you!

Congrats leonie! Hope your Dsis is feeling ok.

Lisa another v positive vote for Quinn, I think it works for a boy or a girl, and is one of those names that would suit a whole range of personalities.

Potato hope mini spud listens to instructions and stays put long enough for the TV and Internet to get sorted. I've totally missed your house move, congrats on it being done and dusted! Are you starting to feel settled there?

Bunch that pic alone is enough to make me want to buy a Sleepyhead! You should send it to them to use as an advert!! Atticus looks totally adorable, not surprised you're completely smitten!

Miley feel better soon! Lots of medicinal ice lollies to go with the antibiotics!

Not much to report here. Still no exchange date on the house and am
beginning to resign myself to a move either at 37+ weeks, or else with a newborn. Going to try and pin solicitors down again today to chivvy things along. All a bit stressful to be honest!

Who's next to start mat leave? I've got 5 weeks left at work and it cannot go quickly enough!!

Feefeefs · 16/08/2016 09:23

Ugh I know potato! She said it was actually fine and she said very calm(!) on account of all the drugs!! Haven't asked which drugs exactly!!
That British Gas issue sounds very frustrating.

I don't think too much of a worry long term may but he had some respiratory difficulties and now has an infection. He was born Saturday nights and she only got to hold him yesterday morning for the first time so obviously still not ideal!

Good luck with the new kitchen Lisa.

15kg bunch!!! That's insane!

Hope you're not too worried co5mo. Bonus on the free 4d tho!!

Congratulations on your new nephew leonie!! Very exciting.

PotatosMum · 16/08/2016 09:25

Planet yep, the actual move went perfectly, the house is lovely despite the spider issue and we already feel right at home. Potato's on orders to stay put until Friday afternoon as OH is covering his bosses holiday and as he's applying for a promotion he doesn't want to leave them in the lurch if possible. I'm using this as an excuse to sit on the sofa and do nothing Grin

I hope you get in your house soon. Moving at 27 weeks was really hard but not impossible. Just keep nagging solicitors. Does your estate agent have a sales progressor you can get on the case too?

Morning ladies,

Congratulations Leonie, so glad your sister and Isaac are doing well. I bet you're so excited for baby snuggles.

Miley sorry you're not well. I'm the same about anti biotics but if it's an infection it's probably best. Get lots of lolly ices in too! For back ache I've been using a hot water bottle when my sciatica gets really bad. I haven't bought a birthing ball yet.

Bunch that weight loss is amazing!! How much did you put on in total? I haven't weighed myself in a couple of weeks, I don't know whether I want to either..Confused Atticus looks so stylish aswell, what a cutie!

Cosmo sorry to hear the growth scan wasn't completely positive, I hope it is just because he takes after his mummy. At least you get to see him every few weeks Smile

So I've been a bit of a rebel and missed my first ante-natal class this morning. I really wanted a lie in tbh Blush the other 2 classes are on days that I'll be back home in Liverpool so I'm going to miss the majority of them anyway. I literally am going in to motherhood blind but I guess I have all you ladies plus my mum. I'm sure I'll be fine without having to go to a class.....I hope.

LaraG13 · 16/08/2016 09:38

bunch sorry to hear about your infection. It sounds like you are dealing with it like a trooper. Atticus is seriously adorable.

Excited to hear from new.

planet I'm going to be moving at about 35-36 weeks. Reassuring to hear it went smoothly for you potato. I'm dreading it to be honest! Just can't face the thought of all the packing and sorting when I feel so uncomfortable.

Congrats to your sister leonie. Her birth sounds much like my sister's which I was present at. I'm trying hard to erase the memory of those few days and think only positively for my own birth now.

LillianFullStop · 16/08/2016 10:32

Congrats to your DSis leonie! I'm glad she's well and sounding positive and chuffed with her new bub despite the long labour ending with forceps.

Confused at how common forceps and episiotomies are seeming at the moment when everyone says they are an exception!! scary Confused

cheering on new and those of us on their TWW (pink, potato and shelb?)!

bunch is it me or is Atticus getting cuter by the day?! I think I may get a sleepyhead in place of a Moses basket now. my (probably unrealistic) idea of Maternity Leave is spending all day on the couch with my LO binging on Netflix haha - a sleepyhead may make it a reality!

leoniethelioness · 16/08/2016 10:42

Thank you everyone! I'd love to share a photo of him but DSis is concerned about privacy. The long and short of it is that DSis' partner doesn't have a great relationship with his own dad (they have no contact and don't speak) so they want to shield their little one from appearing online as much as possible so as not to trigger any approach from him.

Bunch Can we talk about Atticus' nappies? We saw some reusable ones at our NCT class and DH is really interested in giving them a whirl. I've just filled in the Nappy Lady's questionnaire to see what's recommended but I'd love to hear how you're getting on. At the moment we're looking at a mix of cloth/disposable - cloth for overnight use, mostly.

Filling up various shopping baskets online with some baby items. DH has fetched a massive holdall down from the loft for me so I'm going to start packing it later. I tried using a carry-on suitcase and, well, it didn't work... Blush

Danni89 · 16/08/2016 11:48

Congrats to you and your dsis leonie... You're lucky you can get a bit of practice in before your lil one arrives!

leoniethelioness · 16/08/2016 11:49

Yes, delighted it's a boy so I can have a go at figuring out where to, ahem, put everything when nappy changing!

BunchOfBobs · 16/08/2016 12:21

Lillian I certainly think he is Grin

Leonie we most definitely can talk nappies. We're currently using s 2 part system. So a shaped nappy and a wrap. We're using diddy diapers as the shaped nappies and motherease rikki XS wraps. BUT our favourite are the pocket newborn nappies by tjs cloth nappies. Super cheap and so much easier to use in the night. We also have terries but DH won't brave them and I'm still yet to change a nappy as not able to be on my feet long enough. Pros and cons to this bed ridden malarkey.
On that note antibiotics seem to have kicked in, my pain is now completed manageable and I feel the urge to do more and walk more- but can't because I'm still so light headed from anemia and it would be stupid to push myself the first day I feel better.

Thinking of you new.

Mileymoocow · 16/08/2016 12:35

Thanks for the tips, just ordered a birthing ball and have been to asda for a hot water bottle and some ice lollies and cookies and cakes and biscuits Where would I be without you ladies. I did near faint in asda though, luckily my mum runs security there so after I'd been to the loos to vomit she took me over to a seat. Very embarrassing. I'm still sweating profusely and shaking like a leaf but am back in bed now.

For those who are nearing the end - when did bumps drop? I've had about 3 people tell me I've dropped and am carrying low now Hmm

bunch so glad your pain is more bearable, definitely don't push yourself! Sounds like a brilliant deal though - mummy cuddles, daddy bonds through nappy changes Grin

Canters15 · 16/08/2016 12:41

I am gobmacked at you having lost 15kg, bunch. It's made me feel a lot more chilled about my own weight gain, not that I've been on the scales for a few weeks. Bet youre thrilled. Loving atticus in his sleepyhead, I totally want one now!

Have had to book some outstanding annual leave so I am now finishing work end of September, apart from three random shifts in mid October. It suddenly feels a lot closer and I can't wait!!

Mileymoocow · 16/08/2016 12:42

indi I'm just a little further on than you and was brave enough to weigh myself this morning. I've put on just over 2 stone and you still look so toned so I reckon you'll have put much less on Smile

Danni89 · 16/08/2016 13:06

So I've called round a few nurseries this morning, just to start getting prices together, not realising I had missed the boat the waiting lists are already a year long!! I can't believe it!! Has anyone else started to think about childcare??

leoniethelioness · 16/08/2016 13:09

Whaaaaaat, Danni?!?!

PotatosMum · 16/08/2016 13:14

Indi are the classes the NHS ones? If so they're not exactly the most informative classes ever and you'll learn just as much reading a baby book.

Lara I suggest you start packing ASAP. Luckily I did most of my packing just after finding out I was pregnant but I was trying to pack up the last of our stuff at 34/35 weeks and it was completely impossible. OH had to take time off work to do most of it. It's the inability to bend and how quickly you tire yourself out that does it.

Leonie from my sisters experience you want to put a flannel or something over his front when changing as they love to create fountains Hmm also, point everything down when putting nappy on or it can propel wee out of the nappy Confused

Bunch glad you're feeling better. Take it easy with the anaemia. I've been told it can take up to 6 weeks to get over.

Miley I won't find out for certain if mine has dropped until Thursday but I think it did just after 38 weeks.

Sat sewing again. I figure if walking helps bring on labour being a couch potato must discourage it... That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!!! Grin

PotatosMum · 16/08/2016 13:17

Danni we're going the child minder rout instead of nurseries. Both the DSC had child minders and they were much more flexible.

OP posts:
LillianFullStop · 16/08/2016 13:23

leonie and bunch am looking at reusable nappies for overnight too - more to avoid nappy rash from nighttime nappies and because they look so cute. Am thinking of the tots bots one.

Glad the pain has eased with the antibiotics kicking in bunch then you can enjoy the cuddles pain free!

Have bought myself a perenium bottle (you're meant to run warm water as you pee to reduce the sting) and considering a sitz bath that fits on the toilet seat (we only have a shower in our flat). Anyone found any good recipes for a wash (tea tree/lavender oil/etc) and or what to put in a padcicle? Just witch-hazel?

miley I hope you feel better - rest up and hopefully the tummy settles down. I think some ice lollies or frozen yoghurt are in order!

danni one year waiting list!? Is that in London? I need to crack on then I was hoping to be back at work after 9 months and haven't even been to see any Confused - utter madness! dont get me started on the prices either that is also utter madness!

Mileymoocow · 16/08/2016 13:34

potato sounds like a pretty solid excuse to me! Wink enjoy!

lillian tell me about it! I'm north east and parents that don't work actually get so many hours of free child care a week!!! Why do they need it more than families where both parents work?! It boils me. I think we'll be lucky enough not to need to use much, if any, childcare but if we do, I think we'll use a childminder too.

Just Googled and apparently dropping at 33 weeks doesn't necessarily mean they'll stay low, so I can stop panicking about that. Also think I've just experienced my first proper fanny dagger. Lovely!

BunchOfBobs · 16/08/2016 13:40

Lillian my padsicles have witch-hazel, 100% aloe gel and tea tree. They're lovely for about 10 mins then they warm up.

Danni89 · 16/08/2016 13:57

lillian- yes I'm in Essex/east London.. One nursery is fully booked till sept '17. General price seems to be £53 a day!
Wish I had family members that could help out, but yeah those in London should start enquiring from now

IndiX · 16/08/2016 14:06

Miley I've eaten that much crap in the last couple of weeks though so I doubt I'm much less than you. I may be brave tomorrow when I hit 32 weeks or I might leave it till next week....againHmm
Get yourself rested and enjoy your treats CakeChocolate

Yeah potato they were just the NHS ante natal classes, I'm glad you've said that they aren't much use. I felt guilty this morning missing them but I just didn't fancy it and I know I won't be making life long friends there (as we are moving next year) so would be a bit pointless. Have a lovely couch potato day!

Bunch I'm glad the antibiotics have kicked in, I would definitely rest until your anemia starts getting back to normal.

Lovely day here, just back from the gym and going to take the dogs for a walk ( with DH, I'm banned from taking them alone now after my fall) my ankle is still slightly tender but a lot better. Not feeling so sorry for myself anymoreSmile
