Another one craving savoury foods here! I can't stand the idea of chocolate and for weeks I couldn't handle anything sweet at all. It's easing off a bit now and I can have some sweet stuff but I don't really enjoy it so I'm not bothering.

Everyone tells me I'm having a girl though, very strange!

I'm off for a reassurance scan this afternoon so I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed that all is well! We had one at 8+1 weeks and baby was measuring 7+2 so I'm hoping that I just ovulated late and that things have stayed on track since. I'm really paranoid because I've had 3 MCs before this and I feel like I'm expecting bad news every day. Eek! If all has gone well, I should be measuring 9+3 today so I guess we'll see!!

NameChange30 · 21/08/2016 10:02

MrsMushrooms Best of luck for your scan today!

Does anyone know if Senokot is safe to take in pregnancy? There's nothing on the packet and no information leaflet inside...

OP posts:
Carolann8584 · 21/08/2016 13:36

Senokot doesn't have any info but it can make you dehydrated so make sure you drink a lot xx

NameChange30 · 21/08/2016 13:41

Thanks Carol... I have noticed that it's well past the expiry date so I've decide not to take it - I'll pop into a pharmacy if I get chance, and ask their advice before buying a fresh packet! Failing that I'll just eat a load of prunes or something (although I hate the bloody things!)

Namechange I don't think senokot is recommended in pregnancy but you can buy lactulose over the counter really cheaply and that's safe in pregnancy. In fact it's the first thing a gp would prescribe but before you get your exemption certificate, it's cheaper just to buy it. Possibly don't tell the pharmacist your preg though as they might then insist you have a prescription

DaisyBank82 · 21/08/2016 14:06

Name good idea to check with the pharmacist. Although I had (sorry if tmi!) thrush last time when I was pregnant and they wouldn't sell me anything for it as many products aren't licensed for pregnancy even the big standard stuff is exactly what the doctor would have prescribed to me! My midwife told me next time to just get my husband to buy it for me and not mention pregnancy.

Gardencentregroupie · 21/08/2016 14:42

Good luck mrsmushroom

On facebook everyone I know seems to be having a mega glam weekend, I'm stuck at home feeling exhausted and incredibly queasy with a splitting headache, wiping up snot and drool and poop from a teething toddler with a heavy cold and bad tummy. Joys!

This morning I was desperate for a roast chicken dinner; just been to tesco and the meat aisle has totally repulsed me! Couldn't see roast chicken far enough away now.

namechange lactulose is good stuff but fair warning, it may make you windy (and the wind may be a bit smelly) as it gears up Blush

I craved swizzel's double lollies all through pregnancy with my second son. so nope, I don't think sweet = girl works.

so far with this pregnancy I spent 3 weeks eating HUGE amounts of greek yoghurt (about 500g a day)

oops, sorry for double post

charlybs · 21/08/2016 14:58

Cinnamal thanks - Cambodia is awesome. It's our last night tonight then heading over to Malaysian Borneo. I just bought the biggest elephant trousers for travelling in - they'll definitely last me through pregnancy. And all for $4! Hehe

Dustycorners · 21/08/2016 15:37

Name I second everything Happy and Daisy said about senokot and lactulose. I used to send my dh to buy lactulose or laxido over the counter when I couldn't get a GP appointment for a prescription (though they are of course free on prescription when preg). Get some down you if you're suffering!

Splitting headache here and feeling v sick Sad Sorry you're feeling shit too Garden.

MrsMushrooms · 21/08/2016 16:01

Thanks for all your good wishes - the scan went fine! Healthy baby with a beating heart, measuring correctly and wriggling like mad :)

SuperDuperJezebel · 21/08/2016 16:05

Amazing news MrsM!

We have just left part 1 of the Cursed Child, my head started banging, and I nearly fell asleep towards the end! Feeling really queasy today, waiting for DH who is in the longest queue ever at Five Guys, if he doesn't hurry up I'm going to start nibbling the table!

MrsMushrooms · 21/08/2016 16:14

ooo, how was Part 1?? I've read the book but we're not going to see the play until January. I'm hoping it's better than the book, tbh!!

Happygojo86 · 21/08/2016 16:17

Charly I got the most amazing purple elephant trousers in Vietnam. SIL 'borrowed' them and despite asking numerous times she says she 'will look for them, but doesn't know where they are' Angry. I didn't get them back for my last pregnancy but I am going to either demand she either looks for them or buys me a new pair.... I bet to buy them here will cost a lot more than I paid but it's the principal!

NameChange30 · 21/08/2016 16:23

MrsMushrooms Yay for good news at your scan! Smile

Thanks all for the constipation medication advice (oh the glamour! Grin) Didn't have the time or energy to go to a pharmacy today... if I'm not feeling better by the morning I'll try and get a telephone appointment with a GP. Then I can be a cheapskate and get something free on prescription Smile

Happygojo86 · 21/08/2016 16:37

Name change, do you have your maternity exemption already! Mine took ages last time, and it's JUST ran out. Until you have it you will have to pay (unless you have another reason to get free prescriptions) I had to pay for a prescription last week. £8.40!

alphabook · 21/08/2016 16:38

Great news Mrs!

MrsMushrooms · 21/08/2016 16:44

Thanks all! Feeling a bit jammy here in Scotland with our free prescriptions but when I was in England I used to buy those 3-monthly cards - maybe worth looking into for unlimited free pregnancy meds until your exception kicks in?
