Everyone keeps telling me that when you have a craving there's usually something you need in the food that you fancy, Eg chocolate craving you might need calcium from the dairy. Not sure how true this is! I was a big coffee drinker and now I just don't fancy it in the same way at all!

NameChange30 · 18/08/2016 17:35

I must have a big calcium deficiency then Grin

I'm getting impatient about my scan date too particularly as I'm having my booking in appointment a bit later than they usually do in this area (will be just over 10 weeks). There should really only be 2 or 3 weeks between the appointment and scan.

Mummymulb16 · 18/08/2016 18:26

I want coke too why am I craving something I normally wouldn't drink Hmm

Mummytobe83 · 18/08/2016 18:57

Hello ladies, this metallic taste in my mouth is driving me crazy!! I just can't get rid of it so end up eating loads sweet stuff which doesn't help:(((

Someone please help! Xx

LRDtheFeministDragon · 18/08/2016 19:10

mummytobe, I wanted to have something useful (because DP is complaining about the exact same thing), but she says the only thing is mint humbugs and, in any case, you can't eat those all day.

I hope it goes away for you soon!

DP's got her first midwife appointment tomorrow, and I guess it's daft to be excited but I am. We've got a meal out tomorrow, too - does anyone have recommendations for decent maternity trousers (not jeans)? I went into Mothercare and H&M, Debenhams and Next today, and nothing that was vaguely non-revolting and formal enough. She's got jeans from Jojo-whatsit which are nice, but I'd love to find somewhere cheaper for a pair of trousers.

NameChange30 · 18/08/2016 19:12

LRD I think there's a much better choice of maternity clothes if you look online. The high street shops have maternity ranges but don't have much (if anything) in their stores.
Personally I'm loving leggings with dresses and tunics but I don't know if that's your DP's style.

OP posts:
MrsMushrooms · 18/08/2016 19:24

Yeah, I can't find anything in the shops - online seems much better! Still a small selection but much better. I'm managing in leggings and long tops / dresses for now but even with those the elastic band is getting a little uncomfortable

Gardencentregroupie · 18/08/2016 19:31

Asos has a massive maternity range online and do next day delivery. H&M and George at Asda also have a good range of maternity clothes on a budget online, though I found h&m's delivery to be shit, and if Asda online is like their groceries I would expect black maternity jeans to be substituted for black tights girls age 7 Grin

The headaches are brutal here too. Nothing is helping. DH told me to take today off work sick and he would look after me; he's come down with a mega dose of man flu so I've had myself, DD and him to look after. I'd have had a more restful day if I'd gone to fucking work. (Disclaimer - he is genuinely ill, he looks like utter shit and even has 'sick person' smell)

LRDtheFeministDragon · 18/08/2016 19:51

Ah, darn!

I thought online would be better, but it's tomorrow and we left it too late (I think even for ASOS, though I'll remember to look there another time - thanks!). DP would still fit in my dresses, but since she's usually in jeans and shirts she's struggling a bit more.

garden - oh, no. Sad Hope you feel better soon, and that your household recovers asap too!

NameChange30 · 18/08/2016 19:53

Some online shops do next day delivery if you order by a certain time, maybe even 9pm if you're lucky. You'd probably have to pay for it though!

OP posts:
Gardencentregroupie · 18/08/2016 19:54

Oh Next does next day delivery until 9pm I think, and they have a reasonable maternity range

Mummytobe83 · 18/08/2016 19:54

LRD thank you, I will give them a try. Bless her it's the worse thing! I have a UTI and doctor has given me some antibiotics I wonder if that has contributed to the taste. :((

I had my first MW appointment on Monday and they took bloods to test me for all the horrible diseases and I am now convinced that I must have HIV or syphilis etc I am a hypochondriac at the best of times. Sad
I am also convinced something is wrong with the baby!:(

Am I going crazy?? X

LRDtheFeministDragon · 18/08/2016 19:57

Oh, no, I did that too! Grin

We had to have bloods taken (and the bastards took extra blood they didn't need from me, as they can't get their minds around the fact DP's the birth mum not me, so I was extra irritated). I spent the whole week positive I would have HIV/syphilis/whatever. Despite the fact I have had the most boring, safe sex life ever!

garden - oh, thanks! Will look. Must admit I've just now had a quick look at ASOS and I can't see DP in any of them. She looks like a dog dressed in cat clothing in anything girly, so it's a struggle.

Happygojo86 · 18/08/2016 20:00

LRD i got some awesome maternity trousers off amazon last time. I had to take them up but I am a short arse! Other places that are good online are asda and asos and new look. H&m are ok but a bit tight on sizing with jeans especially, ok if you are a skinny Minnie (I am NOT a skinny Minnie Grin). I actually got some nice stuff from peacocks last time too

LRDtheFeministDragon · 18/08/2016 20:03

Ooh, thank you! I will look. Hadn't even thought of Amazon. Will bear in mind about H&M sizing.

NameChange30 · 18/08/2016 20:03

What about Gap? I haven't looked at their maternity range (!) but I get my jeans and lots of trousers from there. And I'm not a girly dresser.

OP posts:
NameChange30 · 18/08/2016 20:04

I meant to say (yet!) not (!)

Congrats newbies! There's a link to a spreadsheet down the thread if you want to add your details.

I normally have the worlds biggest sweet tooth but I'm craving savoury (decided I HAD to have Yorkshire puddings for dinner tonight!) Apparently that's a sign I'm having a boy! (Been googling old wives tales!)

Mummytobe83 · 18/08/2016 20:32

LRD you have no idea how much better I feel now! Thank you. I don't know how I will cope with my inner crazy for the next 7 monthsConfused xx

CatalinaFuckingWineMixer · 18/08/2016 20:43

mummy 7 months will just be the start I fear... I reckon this worry about every little thing is going to last for at least the next 18 years , if not longer! I'm 26, married and have my own house and my dad still asks if I need anything every time I go round 😂

SecretScaryFriend · 18/08/2016 20:56

I found New Look stuff was pretty cheap and ok. Some has lasted alright and I just got it out for this one as I'm starting to feel the squeeeeze in my normal stuff.
I might crack out the under bumps in a week or two. The over bumps won't stay up for a couple more months on me due to my funny bum/hip shape!

Dustycorners · 18/08/2016 21:04

Another one with permanent metallic mouth and drinking gallons of Pepsi max, something I rarely touch outside of pregnancy. And frequent headaches (probably not unrelated to the fizzy drinks). Ugh.

Mummytobe83 · 18/08/2016 21:05

I always just assumed my parents were exaggerating but reality has slapped me in the face. Lol x

Happygojo86 · 18/08/2016 21:09

I could never get on with under the bump stuff! I got out my cropped mat jeans today, I figured I wouldn't get much wear of them being preg over the winter so I thought I'd get them out. So comfortable!
