Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh, it didn't hurt (are they meant to? Perhaps I have a very insensitive cervix!), but I was concerned it might do some mischief.

I say it's up to you, and it's not really a long time to wait if you do prefer to err on the side of caution, nothing wrong with that. I suppose the only thing I wonder about is the link between orgasms and uterine contractions, but I'm sure many women enjoy a full sex life even in the first trimester with no ill effects.

NameChange30 · 13/08/2016 21:55

alpha Check out Miriam Stoppard bras - they were recommend by someone on here (I forget who, but thank you to that person!) I've just ordered a couple from the Debenhams website. I'm a 34FF so bra shopping can be a challenge. Hoping these will do the trick!

LRD I have read from several sources that sex is safe during pregnancy. I agree that the midwife's answer was a bit shit!
I have not been in the mood AT ALL. Apparently it's common to go off sex in the first trimester, be into sex in the second trimester, and go off it again in the third semester. Makes sense really, given the nausea and exhaustion at the beginning, and the hugeness and exhaustion at the end!

Sorry MrsMushrooms for my "it's not long to wait" comment Grin
It's not long for ME, although I do consider it sometimes, and then remember I only have a limited energy supply at the moment, and have to work and look after DS etc. The fun will come!

alphabook · 13/08/2016 21:57

Haha amazing Magic! The one I have is American, there isn't a UK ovia app as far as I know.

I was a bit Hmm at the leaning against the wall as well!

I've been told that DTD during pregnancy isn't going to cause any problems to the baby, but I agree about the fact that it can cause bleeding which can be a big worry. We've been DTD about once every 2 weeks and haven't had any bleeding though.

I was told by my booking in midwife not to have a smear during pregnancy as you're at higher risk of getting an abnormal result when actually everything's fine.

ItsMagicYouKnow · 13/08/2016 21:58

Name 3rd semester?!! I didn't sign up for that! Grin

In all seriousness though, it was OH who didn't feel like it towards the end. I had to ask him very nicely at around 40 weeks in a bid to get the baby out!

alphabook · 13/08/2016 21:59

Thanks Name, I ended up ordering a few from figleaves but if they're no good I'll check it out Smile

NameChange30 · 13/08/2016 21:59

alpha Did you find some non-wired bras? Any brand suggestions for us?

OP posts:
ItsMagicYouKnow · 13/08/2016 22:03

Yes alpha, I was a bit Hmm too. FX it comes back normal, although I won't panic straight away if it doesn't. It was because I hadn't had one for a while (3 years? or more), and they're quite thorough over here.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 13/08/2016 22:03

mushrooms - roll on 12 weeks indeed! I'm sorry you're facing anxiety.

magic - oh, well, I always worry about the hurting! But glad yours doesn't.

name - I'm glad it's not just me who was confused by her answer. I think it was meant well, just it's so easy to second-guess the implications behind every casual word, I suppose.

Anyway, thanks all! Smile

alphabook · 13/08/2016 22:30

I've ordered a Figleaves Essence Perfect Support Wirefree bra in a few different sizes as I have no idea what size I am at the moment. Will report back as to whether it's any good!

greentreeseverywhere · 13/08/2016 22:40

Tmi alert but iv had bowel movement and i feel wonderful and in a much better place!
Little things in life and a rock and roll Saturday night!

charlybs · 13/08/2016 23:33

Magic just wanted to say I saw the gummy bears! OH won't want to squish me against a wall unless he wants me to puke on him Grin

NoisyLittleLion · 14/08/2016 07:55

Morning ladies

Excuse my inability to keep up with you all. My vomiting has got progressively worse and on Friday I was admitted to the early pregnancy unit for treatment.

I'm now on different medication which is so far keeping the sickness at bay but have been advised to prepare to feel like this throughout my pregnancy Confused and that it most likely is hypermesis.

neonrainbow · 14/08/2016 08:11

Oh no noisy i hope the meds start to work!!

SuperDuperJezebel · 14/08/2016 09:32

Oh Noisy poor you, I hope you're being well looked after. Feel terrible complaining about my nausea now!

alphabook · 14/08/2016 09:52

Oh no Noisy, really hope the new meds do the job for you.

WhereDoAllThePokemonGo · 14/08/2016 10:09

Sorry that you are suffering Noisy, I really hope that the meds do their trick and that you're feeling much better soon!

wornoutboots · 14/08/2016 10:09

frankly, unless he's ramming into your cervix I can't see it doing any harm at all to have sex.
Otherwise why would there be so much increased blood flow to make it more enjoyable.

I orgasm much easier when pregnant

MrsMushrooms · 14/08/2016 10:18

Aw I'm sorry, Noisy! Hope you feel better soon :)

Boots, the increased blood flow isn't there to make it more pleasurable, I think that's just a side-effect of increased blood flow to the uterus. There's no evolutionary advantage to encourage sex when you're already pregnant!

I'm pretty sure it's harmless and everything I've read seems to confirm that, but the 'cramps' you get when having an orgasm and the hormonal changes you go through during sex and orgasm haven't been thoroughly studied to see what effect they have on baby. Obviously it's not ethical to do randomised trials like that on pregnant women which is why the advice seems to be along the lines of: "it seems totally fine, but if you're worried or at high risk, hold off for 12 weeks until baby's cemented in there"

neonrainbow · 14/08/2016 10:43

I've been put off pentration because i had spotting afterwards but to be honest I've been way way too tired to think about it. Closer i get to 12 weeks the better i feel so its starting to come back Smile

ItsMagicYouKnow · 14/08/2016 11:12

That's good news neon, hoping to feel better soon too (9+5).

Oh no Noisy, I can't even begin to imagine how awful you must be feeling. Glad you're getting the right care though. Have you posted on the HG thread on the Pregnancy board? Lots of lovely, knowledgeable ladies over there.

Carolann8584 · 14/08/2016 17:07

Having spent most of the day feeling nauseous and weepy, had some plain pancakes then a nap. Woke up and cleaned all the downstairs windows inside and out! Bizarre day! Knackered again now x

tutulove1 · 14/08/2016 17:34

Is anyone else gonna have their 12 week scan soon?
Mine is a week tomorrow and I cannot wait to see the little bean.
Even on my 3rd pregnancy/child I still always wonder if there is actually a baby there! Smile
