Bonkers, I feel exactly like you. I did have IVF and these are much wanted babies, but I am finding pregnancy hard and uncomfortable and I am shit scared about what comes next! Flowers

TipBoov · 30/08/2016 23:41

I hear ya bonkers! This is an IVF pregnancy and I sway between thinking what a miracle it is to be pregnant with a baby we actually conceived 5 years ago (frozen embryo), to hating how tired and achy I am all the bloody time. It doesn't help that I know that this is the easy part for the next few years!!

Don't feel guilty about not enjoying every second of pregnancy, it's not easy so be kind to yourself! Flowers

SolomanDaisy · 31/08/2016 07:05

Haha, I swing between thinking I can't wait to not be pregnant and thinking I'd like to wait quite a long time before having the massive life explosion of a baby!

StubbleTurnips · 31/08/2016 08:10

You're not alone bonkers it's well documented that I hate pregnancy. It doesn't suit me at all. After Turnip2 I will not be doing it again. Having HG last time was actually a breeze compared to this.

Not long to go.

goinggrey1978 · 31/08/2016 08:17

Thisisbonkers, I have an ivf baby on board too, 3 years of fertility investigations and treatment, I'm also a single parent by choice as well, and I've actually managed to do all with a massive amount of help from family and friends, it's beena really positive experience so far so good, I've been very lucky to have all the help and support I've needed medically and also emotionally throughout this whole process, my brother has been a massive amount of support to me and I don't think he actually realises how supportive he has been, as the only family member that knew for a very long time, also several key very close friends have been there for the numerous appointments as well and still are there whenever I need to talk!!

Thisisbonkers · 31/08/2016 08:21

Thank you Flowers I feel a bit better about not loving it. I don't think being sleep deprived helps! Soon be over then the fun can really start Grin

ElodieS · 31/08/2016 09:24

We all have flu jabs ‘round here, so will definitely be getting that and have booked in for the whooping cough vaccine next week.

Towards the end of my last pregnancy I could definitely feel the difference in movements of each DT and true to form when they arrived DT1 was (and still is!) a wriggly monster with loads of energy she isn’t always sure what to do with and DT2 is very calm, poised and purposeful. So far this one is somewhere in the middle, so we shall see! After all the Olympics excitement, I’ve got dreams of harbouring the next Simone Biles! Wink

Sorry to hear you’re feeling tired Bristol, hopefully once the UTI clears up you’ll have a bit more energy.

Bella I got the results a couple of days later by phone too, but I think they’d probably call you sooner if it was positive. I’d go ahead and have a lovely evening but just try to eat sensibly as we all are throughout pregnancy, obviously.

Bonkers, please don’t worry about not feeling ‘pregnancy love’; I’ve never had that feeling either to be honest. The first time was much too angsty and this time I just feel really busy with other things so I’m less focussed on being pregnant and ‘bonding’ with the baby IYSWIM. I think that feeling is actually quite illusive really… it’s a bizarre, worrying and uncomfortable process!

Grapefruit8 · 31/08/2016 09:29

Bella I got my results by phone about 48 hours after so hopefully you should be able to go out and enjoy your meal! Ladies how do I join the facebook group please?

Bella1985 · 31/08/2016 09:33

thisisbonkers I don't think you're alone in your feelings, there are so many things in pregnancy that are never documented on tv and films and I think this feeling of not enjoying it and being scared of birth etc is one of them. I'm not too bad at the moment, but I've got huge over the last week and the realisation that my due date is in another 4 MONTHS is scary as sh*t - how can it be that I have another 4 months still left to go?! And I'm only going to get bigger and more uncomfortable over the next 4 months....Confused

Glad you're feeling better this morning but don't feel bad about whatever you're feeling. I'm chuffed to bits that I'm pregnant but by god does it mess with our bodies and hormones! rant away on here, we're going through it with you. Maybe some are loving every second not met one of these lucky unicorns some have complications already and others are scared to death, whichever stage we're at, MN is the best support network I've ever come across and I'm glad to have it. Star

Bella1985 · 31/08/2016 09:36

Thanks for the response on the gtt test firawla, elodie and grapefruit Smile

weechops · 31/08/2016 09:50

bonkers it's totally normal to not "feel the love' Smile With my first baby I think I was in some state of shock for around the first oh 7 months! Dh was way more excited and proactive than I was, buying the moses basket and stuff. I remember having a total meltdown in Mamas and Papas trying to choose a bedroom set and wondering if the baby would like hedgehog curtains ffs! As for the actual birth, it is scary because it's a totally new experience, and not one you can really prepare yourself for. Just remember though that the midwives are all there to help and they've seen it all before.

Don't anyone hate me please, but I'm really loving this pregnancy! I'm so so lucky that I don't get ill (just sciatica/spd and anaemia later on lol) I adore feeling all her little kicks and movements and I love my bump. Don't love my flabby arms and double chin quite so much, but hey ho, I always look like a whale during pregnancy Grin

Nojo82 · 31/08/2016 10:07

My arm is really sore after whooping cough jab yesterday. But hey all worth it..

When are people planning on going of on ml. I work in a nursing home so on my feet all day. Was hoping to go at 34 weeks but lately thinking I'll prob not get that far..I'm struggling as it is..

Bella1985 · 31/08/2016 10:28

weechops I found you the happy pregnant lady! Glad to hear you're enjoying it Smile I'm complaining far too much to be able to say that I'm loving it. I have waves of enjoying it, followed by waves of dread/fear/feeling stupid for not being prepared for any of it, mixed in with embarrassment that my bump looks far bigger than my 22 weeks, I cringe when I tell people that I'm not due till the end of December. I'd love to snap out of it and just rock the bump, but I just can't shrug it off, never thought this would be an issue of mine either as I'm normally such a confident person. I blame the hormones! Wink

Bella1985 · 31/08/2016 10:31

nojo I'm hoping to hold off until 36 weeks. I work in an office so it won't be as strenuous on my body. Am planning on taking a couple of weeks leave (a week in october and a week in november) to try and help with the tiredeness, I may even split the leave across many weeks so that I do 3 or 4 day weeks rather than the full 5 days towards the end.

stripeyorangesocks71 · 31/08/2016 11:03

Hello everyone!

HR haven't responded to me about my ML yet (only recently notified them with MATB1 form etc) but hoping to take it from 39 weeks but with 2 weeks annual leave (at minimum) before that so I'll be 37 weeks! Lucky I have an office job and a very understanding manager.

I have my next midwife appointment next week alongside a GTT which I'm not really looking forward to. Will ask her about the whooping cough jab then. Not really had a great experience so far with my midwife but just trying to not let it stress me out.

Booked my 4D scan for when I'm 30 weeks, they recommended a scan between 28 and 32 weeks so managed to get a weekend appointment in October.

Made another quite significant baby related purchase yesterday, we got the i-gemm, i-anchor car seats and i-base. The i-base came free when purchasing the i-anchor and my other half was keen to get a seat with a handle for when Peanut is really small so that explains the i-gemm! In total I think they should have cost over £430, but with some discount and cashback I had earnt we got the lot for £193. I do love a bargain and my other half commented how much I seem to love finding deals and things which made me happy!

Is anyone else swimming during their pregnancy? I go once a week and am really enjoying it!

Bigfam · 31/08/2016 11:45

I'm terrified of giving birth this time around (and it's my 5th) I'm not intentionally trying to worry anyone but I remember, very vividly, how painful childbirth was with dd3. If it helps though, I can't remember the pain from the previous 3 being born so I'm putting it down to the fact that I was completely EXHAUSTED. We moved into the house on the 26th of january (without any furniture) and there was no carpets or anything just a bare house, so it was a rush to get the essentials before she arrived, she was due on the 2nd of feb but ended up being born just 2 days after we had moved in and hours after we had laid carpet & put beds and furniture in 😰

SolomanDaisy · 31/08/2016 12:17

I'm fine about the birth, it really wasn't that bad. But I am nervous about the idea of a c section. I feel like I know what to expect from labour, but I've never had an operation and it just seems scary!

Popskipiekin · 31/08/2016 12:24

My waters went last time with no sign of labour for 24 hours+ so I was induced - and I really wasn't prepared for the suddenness of the contractions. I'll be more than happy for another induction this time round though, now I know what it might be like. It was pretty positive all considered, even though it ended in ventouse but the doctor and whole team was fab. Kind of hoping against hope that labour might start 'properly' this time so I'll get to experience that but - any way he chooses to come out will be ok with me.

Solomon I totally sympathise and a CS is major surgery, but your surgeon is probably churning them out so will be very experienced and everyone I know - my mum included, who had 2 of them 30+ years ago and let's hope it's all come on since then! - recovered well.

bumbleclat · 31/08/2016 13:00

I was going to go on ML at 40 weeks but now thinking that is a ridiculous plan (primary teacher 30 kids, 3 year groups) and and going to have to drop the bomb shell tomorrow when I go back to school.
Hope head doesn't get annoyed i just know that this insomnia, back pain isn's going to get any better and Ill be doing me and school a disservice by hanging on.
The last day of term is my due date.
Thinking about going off at 38 weeks (hopefully giving me time to rest before labour and general exhaustion) I don't want it compounded by end of term/silly season Christmas madness exhaustion.

bumbleclat · 31/08/2016 13:02

**excuse spelling errors sausage fingers+auto correct+phone= ^

Bigfam · 31/08/2016 13:29

Definitely agree with everything you said about c section SolomanDaisy
The only operation I've ever had was for a breast abscess (nothing in comparison)
If you have to have an emergency c section, is there an option to have it under general anasthetic? I know I'd miss the birth, but that's how genuinely petrified I am of an operation that big.

ElodieS · 31/08/2016 13:35

I agree c-sections are scarier than natural births in my book. I was lucky enough to have one of each with DTs and whilst labour really hurts it was over when the baby arrived (mostly, ish) whereas the CS recovery took longer.

They definitely can give you a general anaesthetic with a section bigfam, but whether they would is another matter. It's much riskier generally and they'd ideally want you to be prepped (fasting etc) for it ahead of time. Having said that, they perform emergency surgery on people all the time so it is possible... I'm not sure you'd get the option exactly IYSWIM.

Thisisbonkers · 31/08/2016 14:11

weechops you can enjoy it for all of us!

I haven't even entertained the thought of an emcs. Ill perhaps feel a bit more prepared once I've done my baby wrangling classes and had the hospital visit. I'm hope for plan A (sneeze and baby fall out) Grin

Tinklypoo a girl at work said her daughter got a bump support and it's worked wonders. Reduced back pain.
