Thread five for the chattiest bunch of preggers ladies you've ever had the pleasure of encountering. We're greeting the second trimester with excitement and apprehension, and lots of questions, humour, reassurance, empathy and advice.

Fourth thread here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/2684139-february-2017-thread-4-are-we-the-chattiest-bunch-or-what

Can I ask... starting to overthink things now... have you all felt stretching before/at 12 weeks?

ScottishSnowflake · 04/08/2016 10:22

As in stretching pains? Yes, got them now!

Shellbell0403 · 04/08/2016 10:26

I can't think of any that Iv had and now starting to panic!! Incase I go here and then the baby has stopped growing... bloody brain and hormones!!

MarjorySunshineDust · 04/08/2016 10:32

I'm 14 weeks today and definitely have a little bump! Second pregnancy and like twocats I'm sure I looked like this when I was about 20 weeks last time! It's really popped out the last week and I'm starting to look more pregnant rather than just fat.

ScottishSnowflake · 04/08/2016 10:33

Is this your first baby shell? Please try not to worry, some women's bodies are more elastic than others. I had cramps between 6-9 weeks and my stretching pains have only just started and I'm 13+4. Not long to go until your scan, and fx everything will be fine for you. I was almost certain that I'd dreamt the whole thing and that they wouldn't find baby, but they did. Anything you can do to distract yourself for a bit?

Witch91 · 04/08/2016 10:34

Thinking of those with scans today - fx all is fine for you all SmileFlowers

Shellbell0403 · 04/08/2016 10:35

Yeh scottish this is my first baba! DHs third...

I'm just trying to get ready... trying to work out how I'm going to manage to drink water and keep it down 🙈 xx

Evergreen17 · 04/08/2016 10:35

Nicecup that is a gorgeous scan!

Hola amigos!!!

ScottishSnowflake · 04/08/2016 10:39

Evergreen, congrats!! Smile

ScottishSnowflake · 04/08/2016 10:41

I downed a pint of water and just hoped tbh. I was as worried as you shell, evergreen has just had wonderful news so hopefully you're next Smile

LondonGirl83 · 04/08/2016 10:41

Evergreen is that your scan pic? If so congrats!

Wonder I've lost about 9 pounds since getting pregnant but I have a small bump-- I am currently 11+5. This is my first pregnancy but its fairly noticeable if I wear anything figure hugging. The bump isn't huge but its big enough that I can't wear any of my normal clothes despite losing so much weight.

I am trying to avoid buying maternity clothes. Instead I'm just buying loose / flowing dresses that hopefully I'll fit into all the way through and can wear when I'm not pregnant as well.

Shellbell0403 · 04/08/2016 10:41

Aww fab evergreen Congrats!! You feeling better now? I have taken your place!! Lol

wm3010 · 04/08/2016 10:47

I used a v pillow plus a couple of little cot bed pillows last time rather than a proper pg pillow which I thought might be too restrictive. It was a pain reorganising them if I wanted to turn over but was comfy and all came in handy later for feeding or propping baby up. Cot bed pillows are a great size.

Evergreen17 · 04/08/2016 10:50

Ash what a gorgeous bubba Smile

First pregnancy here no bump whatsoever Hmm

Heart was 160 and scanning staff was pleased with that Grin
I believe the word perfect was used a couple of times Grin

Now to wait for bloods Confused
Shell I just felt stretching in the last few days. But I have learnt that everyone is different. All the worry I have had because I had zero symptoms has at least taught me a lesson

Thanks scottish and london
Smile

twocatsandatoddler · 04/08/2016 10:51

Congrats evergreen! Must be a huge relief - hope you can relax and look forward to tomorrow now Smile

Evergreen17 · 04/08/2016 10:52

Thanks shell. You will be fine! Smile I am so exhausted from the nerves and lack of sleep

And wedding tomorrow oh gosh GrinGrin

Evergreen17 · 04/08/2016 10:54

Thanks twocats I think I am so exhausted that is not sinking in

Worst 10 weeks of my life! (Worrywise)

FriendlyGhost · 04/08/2016 11:03

Congratulations Evergreen. Now sleep and get some rest before tomorrow!
I had lots of stretching pains last time but none this time. Think I'm already stretched!
I also have a dream genie. I haven't used it yet but I remember it being really comfy.

AshOutside · 04/08/2016 11:04

Congrats Evergreen!

Good luck with the wedding!

LaceyLee · 04/08/2016 11:21

Congratulations evergreen that's great news and you can now relax and enjoy your wedding!

Thank you for the pillow tips, I will definitely get one. I didn't last time as I seemed to be sleeping fine but not now!!

I haven't really had any stretching so far. Have got a small bump but this stage last time I didn't have anything really.

hels18 · 04/08/2016 11:27

Hello all, hope you don't mind me joining. I'm actually due towards the end of January so have been on the Jan thread, but have been following the February thread too as if I'm late, my little one will be an early Feb babe. I am currently 15+3 with my first pregnancy, and have just got through a horrid bout of all day sickness which stopped me eating, and am still struggling with some headaches and tiredness.

I need to catch up a bit (the Feb thread moves so much quicker than the Jan thread!), but I have a question about NCT vs NHS classes for anyone that has done them before. As this is my first pregnancy, I would like to do classes, although not sure if the NCT ones are worth the £250... I could put that towards my new pram! I'm based in Kent and have had mixed feedback about both, but can't see what you can possibly learn in the NCT that you don't in the NHS ones.

Also, does anyone have a Joolz pram? I am in love with the design and they seem great, but want to know if they are worth the price tag.

Evergreen17 · 04/08/2016 11:27

Thanks friendly and ash
More scans from today?!Smile

FriendlyGhost · 04/08/2016 11:35

Welcome hels. I did both NCT and NHS classes last time. The NCT ones were great for making friends which is what I wanted. They're very much focused on natural birth and I didn't have that in the end so take things with a pinch of salt but what I learnt was useful. The breastfeeding class especially was great and the support from the friends I made has been and was invaluable. The nhs class (without being rude) was really catered to people who don't have a clue about basic biology. We left after an hour because it was so basic and it was clear we weren't going to learn anything.

2ManySweets · 04/08/2016 11:49

Hi Hels

As Friendly above has said its true that the NHS classes are a bit - um - obvious for some stuff but they are much more medically honest - in that they are best placed to answer questions about c-sections, inductions, failed inductions, drips to start contractions etc.

That's what I missed when I did my NCT classes and that gap cost me dear as I wound up with a failed induction and a CS and found the whole experience scary.

Want to make friends? Do NCT.
Want medical honesty? Do NHS.
Want both? Do both Wink

SBSparkles · 04/08/2016 11:50

Congrats on the scan pictures!!! SmileSmile so nice to see!!
So today I'm 14.5 and I feel sick sick sick!!! Headaches are back again today as well, I thought by now I'd have a nice little bump but it's hard to tell if there's anything there or just fat? It is harder than flab and I can't jiggle it! ( lol!) I think I'm just inpatient and want to look obviously pregnant. So I guess the next milestone is feeling the baby move? Or the Doppler at 16 weeks! I never realised pregnancy would be so nerve wracking - I thought I'd be a serene earth mother type! Not!
