Morning all,

I haven't caught up with the thread but just wanted to introduce you all to Atticus Harry born yesterday at 21.42 weighing 8lb 12.
It was an epically long day and he ended up being forceps born due to showing signs of distress followed by a PPH from me. We're both doing well and in for obs for 24 hours as it was 18 hours waters breaking to delivery.

After the trip to hospital Monday 4am for bloody show we had a day at home of fun contractions as you know. That night at 11.45pm is my waters went with an almighty pop and I had back to back 2 mins apart epic contractions.
We went in tk discover I was only 2cm dilated and as midge more effaced.
We stayed in due to the distance and got check 4 hours later woohoo active labour. So I'd had by now 25hours of latent phase labour.

Off to the pool room and a few hours later discovered I wasn't progressing as fast as they wanted and Pip was on the squiff. Back to back labour had been my delight as to yet and I'd done it on 4 paracetamol. They wanted to use induction drip so epidural was the next step- shattered was an understatement. It worked for maybe 3 surges then failed in one side.
I then went on the gas and air- I love to do things backwards.
I got to fully dilated and was breathing baby down for an hour when he started to show signs of distress so they whipped him out with the salad tongs.
None of this was traumatic or scary. It was all amazing. Hypnobirthing helped me cope with it all and I did 34 hours of contracting on paracetamol- which by the way suprisingly does take the edge off.'. I'm chuffed.
He had an amazing first feed but now won't feed and just sleeps on me..... I still haven't slept but he's making the most gorgeous noises.

Sorry for the long post.

Well done bunch you are superwoman and way to ring in the first thread baby. Enjoy your baby cuddles and much earned rest Smile

BunchOfBobs · 10/08/2016 05:40

Thanks ladies, sorry I left you all hanging so long.
Just managed to hand express 0.5ml for little man and now finding my nethers coming back to life and the catheter quite uncomfortable so I'm finding it hard to try sleep.
Think I'll manage it when DH gets in at 9. He's making the cutest hiccups and grunts. Babies are loud when they sleep!!

Co5mo · 10/08/2016 06:00

Ahh. Welcome to the world Atticus. Congratulations Bunch. Lovely news to wake up to. X

leoniethelioness · 10/08/2016 06:02

Congratulations, Bunch! Please tell me your hypno books and CD recommendations when you get the chance.

Welcome to the world, Atticus. You are so gorgeous! 💕

leoniethelioness · 10/08/2016 06:04

Also, Bunch - you are one strong and amazing lady!

Mileymoocow · 10/08/2016 06:05

bunch congratulations he is absolutely perfect! You should be so proud of yourself, well done!!!!!! I love his name, really suits it! Enjoy your cuddles ❤ thanks for updating us.

Newmrs22 · 10/08/2016 06:28

Bunch congratulations he is perfect-impressive size! Strapping little lad Grin

Thanks for giving the details. You've made it sound a lot less scary if things end up not going quite to plan. V reassuring and I hope to be so calm. Hope you get a bit more sleep!

BunchOfBobs · 10/08/2016 06:31

Thanks everyone.
Still can't sleep, every time he makes a noise I'm staring at him, then when he doesn't I'm staring at himGrin
Wish I had brought sore throat sweets with me though, gas and air really does ravage your throat.

Apparently I was off my tits on the stuff. I told DH I had the head of a unicorn then apparently kept counting backwards from 3 saying "3,2,1 that's love".
I have no recollection of this hah! It was during pushing though so not suprising.

BunchOfBobs · 10/08/2016 06:41

Leonie I used the hypnobirthing book (and a course based on) by Marie Mongan. The rainbow relaxation cd and 25 ways to awaken your birth power.
I cons highly recommend it. The breathing techniques are what got me through it though if I ever hear myself hum again it'll be too soon.

Mileymoocow · 10/08/2016 07:07

I don't blame you bunch he's so amazingly gorgeous! Throat sweets are a brilliant idea, I'll add them to my list instead of cough medicine. I still can't believe he's here! We finally have the first of many to come.

Gas and air sounds like fun! Hahahahahaha

LisaTheSimpson · 10/08/2016 07:13

Oh Bunch, what wonderful news!!! Many congratulations, you amazing woman!

Atticus looks adorable, and it's such a great name. I'm so glad you're all doing well and hope you get to go home soon x

Pinklily1 · 10/08/2016 07:25

Congratulations Bunch, and to your OH too! Such wonderful news. Atticus is gorgeous Smile It sounds like you coped amazingly with the delivery even with the forceps (salad tongs made me chuckle!!).

The throat sweets are a good tip too, I'm going to get some for my hospital bag.

Hopefully feeding will get better and you and Atticus can get home soon Flowers How is he sleeping so far?
