Pink, you're going to a wedding on a day after your due date?? You are a brave, brave woman! Think I'd be bloody exhausted and fed up. Hope you find a lovely dress for it!

LisaTheSimpson · 04/08/2016 21:58

Just come back from our breastfeeding NCT class. Have to say, I was really impressed and feel a lot more knowledgeable. I thought the woman teaching the class was really good, and she was very conscientious to pick out our individual worries/concerns or questions we had about it.

I know others have said they've had sessions where teachers have been too pushy on breastfeeding. I didn't think that was the case tonight, but then all of our group feels very strongly about giving it a go (if we'd have someone who wasn't fussed about it I appreciate it might have been different).

How others have had good advice and information about feeding too (breast or formula).

LisaTheSimpson · 04/08/2016 21:59
  • 'Hope others', not 'how others', sorry Hmm
Pinklily1 · 04/08/2016 22:04

That's the plan Lisa, it's one of my closest friends. I'm well aware it might not happen though if baby has other ideas! Smile

PotatosMum · 04/08/2016 22:17

Danni yay! For being on leave now Grin

Aww Bunch I know how you feel regarding the slow walking. I literally hobble everywhere now and tomorrow will probably be the last time I drive as I just don't feel safe anymore let alone comfortable.

Hmm not sure about the eggplant dish, I'm not a fan of them Confused I think I'll start on the pineapple from tomorrow though Smile

OH and I are currently curled up on a mattress on the floor of a very empty flat. Practically everything is gone and we've cleaned and got what little is left ready to go. I keep waiting to feel sad about leaving but I think I'm just too focused on wanting to get the move done.

I found out today that OHs exW actually drove to our new house yesterday with her OH and his kids to have a look and OHs dad did the same today and was apparently peering in through the window to get a look at it. Am I the only one who finds this really odd? Who goes to look at someone's new house uninvited before they even own it?! Of course OHs dad will be welcome round any time he likes but I still find it a bit stalkerish of all of them. exW is obviously never welcome at our house and I will be very angry if she is ever allowed through the door.

Hospital was ok, my blood pressure is back to normal ... Funny that!!! And Potato was apparently very chilled and happy as far as the monitor was concerned. They're still a little concerned about the sparkly lights I get in my vision occasionally but not enough to want to follow up and they informed me that my iron levels would be fantastic if I wasn't pregnant, as I am they're unbelievably brilliant Grin I'll just go to the head of the class in that department.

LisaTheSimpson · 04/08/2016 22:24

No, that is definitely odd, Potato. I don't understand why people feel the need to do that.

However, saying that, we knew people who did that to our house before we moved in (they actually contacted us to say they'd had a look and could see 'stuff' inside and we should make sure the seller removed it - he was a hoarding pain in the arse). We found it really weird then, and just figured they were very nosey Hmm.....

IndiX · 04/08/2016 22:31

Potato id find that very weird and tbh probably be a bit pissed off! Hope the move goes well tomorrowGrin great news about your blood pressure btw.

May the massage was on my side, tbh I'd prefer it lying on my front but they won't allow it. She did a mix of treatments; back, leg, chest massage, Stretch mark belly mask (I don't know what she put on my belly but it felt nice, especially when she rubbed it off with a warm flannel) and a scalp massage and facial. A friend found the deal on groupon or one of those voucher websites. So maybe have a look on there for a good deal?

PotatosMum · 04/08/2016 22:59

Thanks Lisa and Indi I honestly wasn't sure whether I was being a bit weird about the house thing so it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who finds it odd and is a bit miffed.
OHs dad was doing the, they have this in that room etc. Thing and I was just mortified that he'd been snooping on them like that. They should be allowed privacy to pack up their home and move however much of a pain in our asses they've been.

Nothing major planned for the next 5 weeks pink just nesting and lots of resting.
My baby shower this sat, so lots of baby clothes washing next week, also have an after childbirth care class and breastfeeding class next Tuesday. I just take each week as it comes, need to up my birthing ball bouncing and start raspberry leaf tea soon too

PotatosMum · 05/08/2016 06:06

Morning ladies, how are you all today?

Not excited at all but have I mentioned I'm moving today???!!!! GrinGrinGrin

OP posts:
leoniethelioness · 05/08/2016 07:07

All well and good here. Had a deal assessment at work yesterday so trying new things to ease what I've decided is sacroiliac joint pain. Hopefully my GP will be able to help on Monday. I thought it was a bit better yesterday but then got up after sitting down a while at home and nope, just as bad.

Little sis has a growth scan today as she's measuring 42 weeks when she's not quite 39 weeks. Please cross your fingers that my little niece or nephew is OK.

Good luck with the move, Potato.

Can someone talk to me about bottles? I'm planning to breastfeed but what do I need to buy just in case? And do you think I need a pump right away? I find this all very confusing.

DH at a job interview this morning. As I mentioned before, he's being kept on but he applied for this job when he was at risk so he thought he'd go for it anyway. I'll be in turmoil if he likes it and is offered it as it's 120 ish miles away (but quite close to his parents). The pay could be £17000 more than he is on (although more likely to be £7000 more) which he says would mean I have more freedom to work part time after baby. We will have to cross these bridges in time, I think... I'm getting ahead of myself. Excited for him but a bit stressed about the future...

Early finish today as colleague's last day in work so we're going out for a late lunch and then drinks to celebrate. Let's see how many stamina holds up. 🎉🎉

leoniethelioness · 05/08/2016 07:08

Deal should say desk! D'oh!

BunchOfBobs · 05/08/2016 07:42

Potato glad to hear you're all okay on the preeclampsia front. Woohoo on your iron levels, another one here being complemented on them.
Definitely stalkerish. Very weird.
You must be so excited for today, I am for you Grin.
*
Pink* I'm 38+6 eek. Tomorrow first internal and a check to see if my cervix is doing anything. If it's favourable they may do a sweep. If there's nothing and it's firmly clamped shut at least I can then get in the mindset I've got another 2-3 weeks.

Leonie sounds like she's measuring the exact same as me. I'm just brewing a beast. No surprises there for me though. I'm sure all is well.

BunchOfBobs · 05/08/2016 07:42

Oops bold fail.

Pinklily1 · 05/08/2016 08:41

Hope all is ok with your sisters scan Leonie.

Good luck today Potato! I'm not surprised you are excited - it's been a long time coming for you.

Bunch, holy cow on being 38+6 Shock Hopefully your cervix will be favourable Grin

Re bottles, we bought the Tommee Tippee complete starter set. I'm aiming to combination feed, so some breast and some formula. I'm waiting until after baby is born to buy a breast pump though, just to see if she takes to breastfeeding first. Our NCT teacher said you can start pumping straight away but recommended you wait a week or so after baby is born if possible, just to let your milk come in properly.

I'm feeling a bit fed up today, am so ready for baby to arrive. Had a crap nights sleep, partly due to hip pain and partly due to baby doing the Macarena all night, and now I'm sweating like a pig. Also got a silly busy day coming up at work, not ideal for a Friday.

Has anyone bought protector mats to put on the bed under sheets? I was reading that they were great for post birth in case there is any leakage when we are bleeding, so I might get some.

BunchOfBobs · 05/08/2016 08:47

Pink I have, I've had it on for the last month or so. It's to protect the mattress from my waters aswell. It's really good, You wouldn't know it was waterproof, no rustling or sweating from it.

Newmrs22 · 05/08/2016 08:55

Morning all! Happy moving day Potato I'm so excited for you.

Pink hope today isn't too stressful. How long until mat leave?

Leonie I'm sure it's nothing to worry about with your sister. I always find the measurements off. It doesn't make sense to me that everyone should measure a certain size because everyone's body is different! And babies are different sizes.

I've had some period pain this morning. Went for a longish walk last night so wondered if I'd set something off, but it's continuous, not contraction-like so I'm assuming it's nothing and just another joy of late pregnancy!

Sodasoda · 05/08/2016 09:02

Hi everyone!

Great news about the house potato happy moving day!

Bunch glad you're both ok, hope baby makes an appearance soon! Well done to you and potato re iron! Apparently my iron levels are still very low despite my horrid iron tablets!

Pink yes to mattress protecting sheets. I just bought a pack of huge horrid looking things from mothercare and will put them on bed closer to due date. Also for car on way to hospital and afterwards etc. I feel your pain re work. I'm working til 38+2. My boss told me to work from home today as my feet were so fat and sore yesterday so gladly taking her up on that!

Miley what's your bridesmaid dress like? I'm being bridesmaid too at 36 weeks! Shock I've got a wedding the weekend after too. I chose my own dress - pink I got it from Tiffany Rose, you're right, lovely things on there. I was lucky to be able to choose and it works well with the other bridesmaid dresses as they are full pink and mine has pink flowers. It's this one - http://www.tiffanyrose.com/maternity/clothing/BSDGJ/Bardot-Maternity-Shift-Dress-Grand-Jardin.html I think my main worry is being able to fit my feet in high heeled bridesmaid shoes!

Re feeding bottles I've got a tommee tippee starter set like pink. Will hopefully breastfeed but won't get pump until I see whether I can or not.

Indi you're looking fab, hope your grandad is ok.

So relieved it's Friday!!

Waves to everyone else Smile

Sodasoda · 05/08/2016 09:03

New I'm getting period pains on and off too. Is this a normal thing later in? Are these Braxton hicks or something else? I'm 34+2 today.

Newmrs22 · 05/08/2016 09:10

Soda I have no idea! I'm not sure if Ive had braxton hicks. I get a weird tight sensation but I thought that was baby sticking a foot in my diaphragm until someone said it's probably BH. Midwife says some people don't notice BH at all though.

PotatosMum · 05/08/2016 09:20

Bunch eek! First internal exam. That's just a bit scary Shock

Pink I'm right there with you on the crap sleep, nighttime baby dancing and sweating in a very unladylike fashion today. Luckily OH is refusing to let me do much (I was allowed to hover and tape boxes) so mostly sitting around on my pregnancy ball.

I've got a waterproof sheet on my bed just in case my waters go. I'm planning to keep it there until the bleeding reduces a bit.

All but ready to go now, just packing bits in the car then dropping mine off at FILs and going to hand in the keys. Still not feeling sad about the flat yet Confused

RE pregnancy balls, has anyone else noticed having a bit of a bounce is very good for helping with the pooping Blush

OP posts:
IndiX · 05/08/2016 11:34

Bunch good luck for the internal exam. I've got the admit the though does make me cringe slightly and make me want to cross my legs very tightlyConfused

Potato yay for move in day!

Pink sorry you're feeling crap. At least it's Friday and you can relax this weekend. I'm with you on the sweating though, I find myself having hot flushes quite often through out the day.

Leonie I'm sure your little niece or nephew will be fine, as others have said the growth measurements aren't very accurate.

Hope everyone is doing ok today, DH has no work on until Monday so I'm going to head the gym now and then think we'll be finishing off the nursery today. It's my favourite room in the house now, I just love walking in and seeing what little touches I can add. Hope you all have a good Friday Smile

AudreyBradshaw · 05/08/2016 13:34

Good luck for today potato and bunch

Dh woke me up at 4:30. So I shouted at him quietly for two hours. Then cried, then fell asleep again, then my Dad rang to drop some bits off. I'm exhausted. And he's spark out. 90% sure it's because I had McDonald's yesterday and the salt/sugar/msg makes me insane and not sleep well.

BunchOfBobs · 05/08/2016 15:30

It's tomorrow for me Audrey but thanks Smile,

I'm currently making the sauce for the Scalinis recipe. I am intent on getting Pip out this weekend. Tonight is Eggplant Parmesan, fresh pineapple, walking the dog through the woods and I swear if DH doesn't jump me I'll kill him. Apparently he's scared of hurting me.... But 3 more weeks of me
Being in pain is apparently fine.

Are you in potato?

Pinklily1 · 05/08/2016 16:43

I think he owes it to you Bunch, he got you into this situation in the first place!! Maybe have a curry afterwards too Grin

We haven't DTD recently but I will be very insistent on it nearer due date!
