Thank you for all the sympathy everyone - it's much appreciated (if not quite in the tradition of Mumsnet). I saw the GP this morning. He told me I sounded remarkably self aware and had given him a good summary of the pros and cons Hmm nice to know but not that useful. He also told me to stay off google! His view was that he would prescribe the ADs now if I felt I wanted them but that if I could cope a couple more weeks we still had plenty of time to get me stable on them before the baby arrived if necessary. so I've declined for now.
If I can hang on until I get the job outcome that would help. I have this constant nagging suck fear in the pit of my stomach at the moment.

Anyway, back to baby stuff. Potato I also have a fibroid but I think it's a bit smaller than yours and positioned well out of the way. They are also concerned about me bleeding so they will let me use the midwife unit but only at the hospital, not at home or the small maternity hospital. Try not to worry too much about it (easier said than done I know) they may ask you to have a cannula in from fairly early on just in case, so they can connect it up and get blood into you in seconds if they need to. One of my friends had this done and did bleed pretty severely but didn't actually need to be given more blood, she said it wasn't as annoying as she expected. You are definitely in the right place and they'll have trained staff on hand to sort things out if needed. In my case there is an 'emergency blood loss procedure' where they get the consultant over from to the midwife unit without even having to move me. Ask the midwife the questions - not Google!

Feef that's a lovely scan Smile

MrsNew I can't imagine getting any bigger right now and I'm 3 weeks behind you!

PotatosMum · 22/07/2016 16:51

Dr yep, I think my fibroid is bigger. My consultant has said that there's no way they will let me labour anywhere other than the hospital. I'll definitely have a cannular straight away and they'll be giving me drugs automatically straight after delivery to make my uterus contract.
They're really worried that because of the size of my fibroid my uterus won't contract properly, afterwards so I'll just keep bleeding (joy). With any luck they're wrong and it will be fine but they described me as very high risk. (Normal risk is about 6%)

They're also worried that if I go into labour before Potato is really low my uterus won't contract properly and I'll have to have a section, which they don't want to do in case they cause a bleed by hitting my fibroid.

But, on the bright side I'm not actually worried at all. I find it far more worrying not knowing the risks and possible actions. Once I know what I'm up against and what to expect in different circumstances I'm usually happy to just say oh well, and get on with it. I also like to prepare OH as he doesn't like hospitals and gets scared of people he cares about being ill. So I want him to know what to expect so he doesn't panic either. Smile

Sorry to hear your struggling Dr. How soon will you find out the job situation?

Lovely scan Feefs, and pleased all was well. Was this an extra scan?

Potato, I may have asked this before so sorry if so, but will they be wanting to remove the fibroid at some point after baby arrives, it can they just leave it?

Today I feel fat, frumpy and generally yuk. Not sure why. And I think I'm starting to waddle Hmm

Has anyone who is going to breastfeed bought any nursing tops? I'm getting some pj's for hospital and am tempted by some from Mothercare which are dark bottoms and then a nursing top.

Has anyone got any nice weekend plans?

PotatosMum · 22/07/2016 18:05

Pink they're going to leave it as they're a bugger to remove so unless they're causing a problem they just don't. With any luck it should degenerate over time and disappear on its own.

No exciting plans here. OH has flu and is very pathetic and we have DSD from Sunday afternoon... DSS decided that he didn't want to be trapped in the flat with the walking dead and a boring pregnant lady when he could be out with his mates so he's staying home with his mums boyfriend.

LillianFullStop · 22/07/2016 18:18

Co5mo and potato my next scan is not until end of Aug at 31w but I'm considering getting one earlier at 28w so I can book in for midwife-led birth.

pink I hope your cold has eased up!

lovely scan feefs your LO could not look anymore perfect!

sorry you're having a rough time drwhy - i hope you get some good news re:job. not long too go though I can't wait to hear the first birth announcements from you potato, bunch, new and pink leading the charge! has anyone heard from mor lately?

Had my GTT today and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting - first was by a cheery lady that did the BT like a pro - second lot after 2 hours hurt more by a student/trainee so that was cringeworthy as there was a lot of fumbling and she seemed as nervous as I was! At least she got the vein first go. The 400ml of drink was hard to take as it was fizzy and room temperature so i struggled to drink it all quickly as i kept having to burp the whole time!! i'd have taken cold and flat any day. bunch and potato they told me 48 hours to get the results so i should have it in time for my midwife appointment on Tue - i hope i get the all clear so I can celebrate with a tub of ice cream!

ordered the pram and it is coming tomorrow so very excited about that! we went with the BabyZen Yoyo (only 6kg!) I do love the look of the SilverCross Wayfarer, iCandy Peach and Bugaboo Bee but as I'm quite short and wimpy I would struggle to lift those around the tube.

DrWhy · 22/07/2016 18:22

Potato That sounds very much like the situation my friend was in, I think here the cutoff for fibroid size is 6cm to go to the midwife led unit, hers was substantially larger - mine just sneaks under! As I said, she bled heavily but not enough to need them to give her extra.
It sounds like they have a good plan and you are pretty calm about it all so that's definitely the best way. You know you'll get good care if you need it.
My friend did say that the place was awash with blood though (she's being very open!) it seems a little goes a long way, her husband was a bit freaked out and he's one of the most calm and practical men I know. So definitely best to prepare your DP that it will look much worse than it is!
Pink I should find out about job sometime in the week after next.
How far along are you now, I'm determined not to waddle but I know it will be inevitable once he engages. He already has his head wedged in my pelvis, which isn't the most comfy but at least means he kicks my stomach rather than my ribs!

Mileymoocow · 22/07/2016 19:13

Has anyone seen that episode of Southpark where Stans dad has the world record poo? Yeah, pretty sure I would have just beaten him! I will try not to go 4 days without a toilet visit again Blush baby seems to appreciate all that extra room, however, as I'm being kicked to a pulp now. Anyway, off to Asda to stock up on dried apricots to try to prevent having to birth a turd again.

feef what a lovely scan!!! How gorgeous ❤

LisaTheSimpson · 22/07/2016 20:20

Good evening everyone! I'm back after a week in the South of France and will catch up soon.

Hope everything is going well for everyone! x

Feefeefs · 22/07/2016 20:44

20 week scan pink. Thanks for all the lovely comments!
Have a neck full of swollen lymph nodes now though after yesterday's whooping cough Sad don't think it's anything to worry about as happened before after a flu vaccine but still uncomfortable

BunchOfBobs · 22/07/2016 20:52

Hi all,

Dr so sorry to hear you're having such an awful time of it. Flowers for you.

Lovely scan feefs

Potato glad they don't want to see you again. Step away from Dr Google!! Glad you're so calm about it all.

Miley that did make me giggle. Apricots sound a great way to go.

I'm not feeling right today. I've been out with DH from 1 until 6pm, waddling round some shops and doing the food shop. I've felt sick most of the day and now feel really woozy/spacey, still queasy and just odd. I've not felt like this at all and I do not like it. Anyone else had it?

Newmrs22 · 22/07/2016 21:13

bunch I've had that a few times. I have no idea what it is. I assumed low Blood pressure.

miley that made me chuckle Grin

PotatosMum · 23/07/2016 07:31

Morning ladies, how are you all today?

I'm now 35 weeks with a lop eared rabbit Shock and I'm officially in my 9th month! Excited and scared witless at the same time Confused only 5 weeks to go!

Lillian yay for buying pram Grin it's one of the most exciting purchases and it's fun to put together Smile

Dr my fibroid fluctuates between 10cm and 12cm so just a bit bigger Wink I'm sure it will be fine. I've just got to get my midwife to give me some iron tablets and we'll see what happens.

Miley I felt exactly the same last week, I actually couldn't believe that much poop could come out of one person Shock enjoy being a bit lighter Wink

Lisa hope you enjoyed your holiday Smile

Bunch it sounds like you had a blood pressure wobble although it could alternatively have been blood sugar. The joys of pregnancy!

Going to try and do some packing today while OH naps the day away, he really has been horribly poorly, I just hope I don't get it!

OP posts:
LisaTheSimpson · 23/07/2016 07:45

35 weeks, Potato!? Wow!

Hope everything is going well and your fibroid isn't being too troublesome.

DrWhy · 23/07/2016 07:56

feefs hopefully just a reaction to the jab indeed. If they are still enlarged for longer than it took to settle last time then it might be worth letting the midwife know.

Bunch yep, indeed sounds like low blood pressure or low blood sugar. If it happens again I'd try a large glass of vaguely sugary drink - that should bring both back up. I know I don't drink enough and it really doesn't help my blood pressure.

Potato Err yes, just a bit bigger! Sounds a lot more like my friends situation. She had some other risk factors too and was monitored closely throughout. The end result was a natural birth with no c-section or emergency stuff needed and a lovely little girl who was just slightly on the small side from space being restricted but has more than made up for it now! Not that you need more positive stories, you are clearly doing great.

Mileymoocow · 23/07/2016 09:22

bunch just to echo others - definitely sounds like low blood pressure/sugar levels. It's exactly how I feel if I don't eat every couple of hours. Try to rest a little more today and hopefully you'll feel better.

I have my whooping cough vaccine next week and am dreading it! Sounds as if it hurts and has some awful side effects Sad 29 weeks today here and apparently I'm going Pokemon hunting with my niece!

DrWhy · 23/07/2016 09:44

Milley I just had a slightly sore arm, spent the rest of the day unpacking boxes. It's also the tiniest needle I've ever seen! So you might be absolutely fine.

Newmrs22 · 23/07/2016 09:56

Miley I honestly didn't feel the whooping cough vaccine. Next day had a slightly stiff arm, but the injection itself was fine and I'm a massive wimp!

PotatosMum · 23/07/2016 10:33

Lisa 35 weeks is kinda scary. When I was 5 weeks pregnant I'd only just found out and now I'm expecting a tiny human in only a couple of weeks Shock

Fibroid is just sitting around being fibroidy now. Fingers crossed it'll stay quiet now Smile

Dr glad your friend did well and her baby has thrived. I don't think I need to worry about Potato being on the small side. She seems quite happy to push, kick and poke things out of her way lol

Miley vaccine stings a bit (like the flu jab) but I didn't get any other side effects other than a bruised arm so you might be lucky Smile
Yay for Pokemon hunting lol

OH has decided that we need to go outside today. I think he has cabin fever after being cooped up in bed so long... I think I may be getting his cold Sad

OP posts:
Feefeefs · 23/07/2016 10:39

Sorry for worrying you miley. I barely felt the actual injection and it was over in seconds. I've reacted to various injections over the years usually the flu one and still nothing bad enough to stop me getting it every year (work in healthcare). I used to be very needle phobic and managed to knock that fear by repeatedly donating blood. The whooping cough needle was teeny!

Co5mo · 23/07/2016 13:08

I've got my whooping cough next week. Remember having one a while back when I needed a tetanus so not worried about that but has anyone had an anti d yet? Pretty certain their going to give me it in one go so much bigger volume than the whooping cough.

LisaTheSimpson · 23/07/2016 14:50

I haven't been offered the whooping cough jab and I don't think it's been mentioned at all.

Is it something I need to ask for? Or perhaps it's a regional thing?

I'll be 30 weeks on Monday.

PotatosMum · 23/07/2016 15:02

Lisa I was told you should have it soon after your 20 week scan as it gives the baby immunity between birth and their vaccination so I would ask if I were you.

So, after being a bit smug to myself last week that I had got through my pregnancy without having a cold, guess who has developed a stinker at just about the worse time possible Hmm

OP posts:
Mileymoocow · 23/07/2016 15:09

I'm not afraid to admit I'm a pansy when it comes to needles anyway! But thanks ladies for the reassurance!

lisa I thought everyone got it. I booked it separately after my midwife asked if I'd had it. It used to be recommended after 28 weeks but now I think it's any time after 20.

Ok so T3 ladies cast your mind back to the early days of T2 - I remember some of you were like me with regard to napping during the day. I've just woken up on the settee after a 2 hour nap for the second day in a row and am back to being absolutely shattered! Is this normal or am I just a lazy cow?

Mileymoocow · 23/07/2016 15:10

Oh potato! Not you, too! Sad hope you shake it off soon.

Mileymoocow · 23/07/2016 15:20

Where's bunch at?! 37 weeks today for her I think which is bloody awesome. I think from now I'm going to be concerned you later stage ladies have gone into labour if we don't have a roll call every morning haha!

My soon to be SILs brother and his wife had their little miracle baby yesterday after 4 years of trying, failing and having to go through several courses of IVF. I cried when I'd heard she'd delivered safe and sound. 6lb 9oz of absolute pure gorgeousness ❤ which means I'm now 4th in line to have our baby now, I knew 8 people ahead of us at 1 point so thats utterly bloody terrifying. My cousin is due a week on Monday, OHs best friends baby is due middle of September and my friend is due exactly a week before us on 1st October. I think it's time to start panicking!
