Manically busy at work so will catch up on posts properly later, but what have people been taking for colds? I feel dreadful, sore throat, snotty and sore sinuses. Just want to curl up in bed Sad

Sorry for the all about me post but any tips would be very gratefully received!

IrregularCommentary · 21/07/2016 14:45

Pink - sounds very much like what I had. Honey and lemon in hot water, paracetamol, I did have the odd strepsil. Also, vicks vapo rub was a lifesaver at night. Horrible stuff, but get it on your chest when you go to bed and it makes a massive difference in allowing you some sleep as it does clear your sinuses quite well.

Hope you feel better soon x

BunchOfBobs · 21/07/2016 15:19

Jesus potato what a horrible day for you. What knobs. I hope the estate agent complete everything for you and your vendors and then all their clients fook off elsewhere. Glad your growth scan went well. Eek re close to delivery. I can't believe how fast it's all going now.

I used paracetamol pink though not as often as prior to pregnancy. Also lots of fluids. Not what you want in the heat.

Hydro was fun, so so amazing to finally exert some effort exercise wise. I'm shattered now and about to go into my osteopath appointment. Probably not wise having both on the same day but nothing I can do, both are Thursday's only.

Sodasoda · 21/07/2016 15:34

Sorry you've had such a stressful day potato
*
Pink* - paracetamol is fine so you could take lemsip / day nurse etc but ibuprofen is out. Hope you feel better.

Anyone suffering from swollen hands? I'm worrying about my rings - they're really tight at the moment and I really don't want to have to keep them off Sad

Mothercare cot bed and changing table were delivered today. Can't wait to get them put up so the room starts to look like a nursery instead of a dumping ground!

PotatosMum · 21/07/2016 16:46

Pink I just used paracetamol I'm afraid.

Bunch glad you had a good time at hydro.

On the screen when I had my scan it had a revised EDD of 22nd Aug. They've obviously decided it's not a big enough change to warrant revising it but it's a pretty big change to me!

Soda I had to take my rings off a couple of months ago due to swollen hands. I'm hoping they go back to size soon after Potato's born so that I can put them back on... And get a new one with a sparkly diamond Wink

It's now looking like we will move on the 5th. Our buyers are ready and we're expecting our sellers to agree. So, we've got 2 weeks to pack and find a removal company. Exciting/scary!

OP posts:
BunchOfBobs · 21/07/2016 16:58

So exciting Potato.
*
Soda* my rings have been off weeks due to swelling. I find my knuckles really ache in the evening because of it.

I'm so tired after hydro and osteo. Is it too late for a nap?

PotatosMum · 21/07/2016 17:28

Bunch it is never too late for a nap!!!

OP posts:
ElleSarcasmo · 21/07/2016 17:39

Potato I can't believe the vendors would be so callous to mess you around like that to try and get a few hundred quid out of you! That's outrageous. Glad it's all sorted-fingers crossed for smooth sailing and moving in on time!

Miley your work colleague is unbelievably rude too! The scan pictures are gorgeous.

Lauren your niece is adorable!

Soda I've already had my rings resized once. I'm hoping my fingers don't get any fatter as I don't want to stop wearing them.

Pink hope you feel better soon.

Hope you feel more comfortable after hydro and osteopath Bunch.

Has anyone else got wider? I was trying on some of my maternity clothes earlier (trying to work out what goes with what) and my rib cage and back just look really wide and sturdy! I think my bra size has changed so my bra isn't fitting brilliantly which probably doesn't help but still!

Sodasoda · 21/07/2016 17:59

This was not the news I wanted re rings ladies!!

Ooh that's only a month away potato! What was your EDD before?

Elle - yes, definitely wider! I was a 32 cm measurement for bras and at my last measurement I was a 36. Would probably be more like a 38 now but really don't want to buy new bras *again!

Miley* - that's a pretty rude response! You'd think with her being pregnant too she'd be a bit more sensitive!

Had a very relaxed working from home day. I haven't done a lot at all. I would feel guilty but I've been so busy at work recently I figure I deserve it!

Pinklily1 · 21/07/2016 18:38

Thanks for the tips re cold stuff ladies. Just having a bath with eucalyptus bubble bath, and then plan on a hot water with honey and lemon and an early night. Such a wild life Hmm

Soda, on a positive ring note - mine still fits. My fingers did swell on Monday and Tuesday when it was really hot, but otherwise have been fine. If i thought they were going to swell and stay big I'd take my ring off though, the thought of it getting stuck stresses me out.

Brilliant picture Miley. The lady at work sounds like a bitch. Ignore her.

Potato, what a stressful day house wise! But sound like good news in the end Smile Glad the scan went well too. 5.5lbs sounds good!

Is anyone having cravings? I am a little bit obsessed with Cheerios at the minute Smile

Bunch, glad you enjoyed the hydrotherapy etc. What did it involve?

Newmrs22 · 21/07/2016 19:06

miley the scan photos are adorable!
potato sounds like a stressful day! They suck. But yay if you manage to move in 2 weeks!

I had a growth scan today. Baby has gone from 11th to 62nd percentile in 4 weeks Hmm the sonograher was a bit Shock and said its nothing to worry about but to come back if the midwife says I'm measuring big next time... She looked back at old scans and said she thinks some of the old ones were slightly wrong because the baby wasn't in optimal position. I bloody hope so. If it goes up at that rate in the next 4 weeks I'll be having a Guiness World Record baby

Pinklily1 · 21/07/2016 19:38

That's quite an increase New! Good that she wasn't concerned though. How many weeks are you now?

Did they tell you the percentiles? The graph in my maternity notes is crap and so small you can hardly read it!

Feefeefs · 21/07/2016 20:48

Glad you've had more kicking soda! How your arm? Mine is unexpectedly sore! DH making fun of me!

Ooft miley some people need to learn to keep they're mouth shut!! Ended up in there with the GP for 25mins she was lovely but spent 10 mins actually looking for the vaccine so I guess I can understand now how she was running late!

For gods sake potatoe some people are really out to grab every penny are they! Hope you're feeling better now. Glad the growth scan went well.

PotatosMum · 21/07/2016 21:45

Soda my EDD was 27th not sure I'm so much excited as scared by it being brought forward.

Elle yep wider here. I've always had quite a wide rib cage so I've given up and just started wearing stretchy bras now.

Pink no cravings here really although cheese sandwiches are a near daily occurrence and I want baked beans with all me cooked food so err... Ok maybe I do have cravings Wink

New lol, I'm sure baby size will be fine. I'm not convinced this size thing is an exact science as they seem to get it wrong a lot.

OP posts:
AudreyBradshaw · 21/07/2016 21:59

I'm basically a barrel with legs. Rotund is how I would describe myself. Dh keeps singing 'bellys gonna get ya' at me.

Right, for catching up. ..

Mileymoocow · 21/07/2016 22:17

pink hope you feel better soon. As for cravings - I'm obsessed with milk but nothing really other than that! My sweet tooth seems to have calmed down now at least!

Thanks ladies, I've taken to pretty much ignoring everyone who thinks rude comments are acceptable these days. Dunno if I'm more sensitive or people are just twats when you're pregnant...

new echoing others here - sure baby won't be a record size! Hopefully you'll get an answer off sonographer

Sodasoda · 21/07/2016 23:35

Hope you feel better pink

No particular cravings here - just a much stronger sweet tooth than normal!

When I had my scan on Monday baby was estimated at 4lbs 5oz which is slightly above average. They measured the head as over 95th percentile which definitely freaked me out!

Feef - yes, stingy injection and achey arm for sure!

DrWhy · 22/07/2016 02:59

Hi folks
Back again, I'm so rubbish at checking in here! Been up for 2 hours with heartbur having gone to bed at 9.30 because I was so tired! Sad
Potato I'm so pleased your house is all on track, even if it was a rather stressful day. I think after moving in April we finally have just one box left to deal with - I hope your unpacking is more efficient than ours! We were trying to consolidate two households so that make it rather more tricky - dropped off a packed solid car load of stuff at the charity shop on Saturday. My flat sale all completed last Friday OK but I'm still waiting for the money to arrive because apparently they paid with something called a guaranteed cheque' which takes yonks to clear. Will chase it tomorrow.
I wouldn't stress too much about your due date coming forward too much, the chances of Potato actually arriving spot on the due date are less than 5% anyway! My inner geek found a great website with statistics!

Miley your scan is gorgeous Smile we had a 4D scan done at about 30 weeks as DH couldn't make it to the 20 or 28 week scans. He looks like a troll in half of ours and somewhat chubby in the rest!
I get exactly the same comments about my size, but then I am measuring big so I try to just laugh it off. There is another lady in the office who is 3 weeks ahead of me and I think people subconsciously compare us. We are probably the same size now but she is about 4 inches shorter and would have been 3 dress sizes smaller pre-preg so it's not that surprising!

New and Soda I wouldn't panic too much about the growth scan, I get the distinct impression that they are pretty unreliable!

I had a 28 week growth scan that put him at bang on the middle of the % which surprised me rather as our family on both sides historically has big babies. I'm measuring big with the midwife but apparently not huge and some of that will be the fibroid. I've got another growth scan next week at 34 weeks so will see what they say there. I'll be delighted if he really is average but with DH, his sister, my sister and I all coming in at over 8.5lb and my sister up at 11lb7oz, I think my chances of a 7lb something baby are minimal!

Going to have a quick stress now. Selection panels for jobs were on Monday and we will here on 1st August if we've got one. Despite being reassured by my management for ages that they were really keen to keep me I then started getting distinctly panicked vibes from my boss and his boss late last week when they saw the final selection of applicants... They were asking me if is applied for anything else - they know darn well I haven't and why! In part because they kept assuring me if get this one back! My well meaning but hopeless line manager called me today to see if I had any news yet because he was worried about me Confused when I told him no he tried to pot a positive spin on it and end up telling me I have nothing to worry about...

The stress of the possible redundancy along with grief over losing dad and the stress of house buying, selling, moving, DH being away etc is now being compounded by total lack of sleep (hence the 3am Mumsnettinb) and I'm having regular meltdowns about stupid stuff. The thought of having an actual baby terrifies me and I'm starting to think I have made a huge mistake. Not even slightly looking forward to his arrival, scared of sleepless nights and stressed about choosing a name and getting the house sorted. I confessed all this to the midwife in a rather tearful state. I have a history of depression and she wants me to see the GP tomorrow about starting ADs as apparently the stress hormones are worse for the baby than the drugs and she wants me to be stable on them before his arrival in case of PND. I've done some research and there is a risk of them causing serious lung problems for the baby (although fairly rare) so I'm not sure I shouldn't just hang on in there until I at least know about the job. On the other hand I've been depressed before and I've been in stressful situations before and it feels much more like the former - but then that could be hormones... Argh!

Anyway, sorry for the rant, I always seem to end up loaning here, I think it just helps to have somewhere to vent.

I'll try to post something more positive next time. Going to try another attempt at sleeping now although baby is wide awake and kicking so we'll see how that goes!

DrWhy · 22/07/2016 03:02

Argh! Sorry for all the typos and the huge post! I smashed the screen on my phone by dropping it trying to juggle notes, car keys, specimen pot and phone on the way out of the midwife appointment - it makes it really hard to read on!

Mileymoocow · 22/07/2016 07:40

dr I think typos are the least of your worries. Please do vent to us, it sounds like you're having a really terrible time. Fingers crossed all is ok with your job though - no wonder you're having meltdowns Flowers definitely have a thorough chat with your GP and express your concern. I think anyone would be stressed in your situation Sad soon you'll have a bouncing baba to keep your mind occupied and I'm sure, like all of us here, you'll be a fantastic mother! Smile

ElleSarcasmo · 22/07/2016 08:40

DrWhy that sounds really stressful. Hope it all gets resolved and you get to keep your job.

Thanks Soda Potato and Audrey, good to know I'm not alone! Barrel on legs is a pretty accurate description of me too let's ignore my cankles on hot days

Newmrs22 · 22/07/2016 09:35

dr sorry to hear about your stressful time. Hope it's resolved soon. Speaking to the GP might be helpful, maybe they can get you some one to talk things over with if you don't want to take anything just now.

Pink I'm 36 weeks, so I guess even if it grows pretty quickly now, it can't get THAT big, there's not much more time! yes she told me the percentiles, it's really hard to see on the graph they give.

Hope everyone has a lovely Friday!

Feefeefs · 22/07/2016 11:30

Sorry to hear you're having such a stressful time Dr I hope the GP is helpful. It sounds like you've a lot going on.

Scan photo attached from today all well

Thread #9 - TTC#1 grads thread - it's the final countdown
PotatosMum · 22/07/2016 13:34

Dr sounds like you're having a really stressful time so it's no wonder you're frazzled. Also, I think it's normal to panic about the baby when you start getting close to delivery. I had a wobble last week and I still feel quite worried.

Feef lovely scan Smile

Had my consultant appointment today. They are quite happy and don't want to see me now until I go into labour.
They want my midwife to monitor whether the baby's head is fully engaged or not and if it isn't by 39 weeks they want to see me again as I may need a section because they're worried the fibroid will prevent my uterus from contracting properly. They're also really worried that I'm going to haemorrhage. Slightly freaked out about that but I'll be in the best place... Off to consult dr Google Confused

OP posts:
Newmrs22 · 22/07/2016 15:24

feef that's lovely!

potato it's good they don't want to see you again. Don't google! You'll be terrified by things that are really unlikely to happen!

I feel like baby's head has moved further down. It's uncomfortable!
