New thread - the one where we stop being pregnant and become new mamas! So close to the end. Exciting!

Congratulations fizzy! Hopefully she's with you full time ASAP, a good opportunity to get some sleep in for now though

mrszumba uh I feel the opposite! I keep seeing pregnant women everywhere that are huge and I used to think "she's obviously a lot further along than me" but at 37+3 there's not really a lot of room for anyone to be that far ahead of me anymore. I feel like my bumps just really low down so she's slipped into where you can't really see her anymore.

So leaky today aswell! I have to keep going to the toilet just to wipe, thin white watery discharge. Any ideas why this might be anyone? Or just another a attractive trait of pregnancy I have to put up with!

strandedabroad · 24/07/2016 13:19

Christine I've had the same for weeks. Spent a small fortune in pantyliners!!

Colabottle10 · 24/07/2016 16:16

Hi all,

36+5 here, due 16th August, unknown

It's all been a bit stressful here really. I've had 2 episodes of reduced fatal movement, though when on the CTG all is fine. Consultant appointment this week picked up on the 2 episodes, so started talking about induction....gave me the 2 days steroid injections (which hurt but got rid of my pelvic pain completely).

Sent me for a growth scan. After being on the 50th centile all along, baby had shot up to 95th centile after a month. Sent me for a second GTT (first at 24 weeks was negative).

Fasting bloods came back normal, but 2 hourly bloods slightly high at 8.3, so I'm now having to monitor my bloods over the weekend. Fasting bloods still fine and 2 hourly are in the 7s so still a bit high.

Consultant appoint on Monday, I'm really hoping they book me in for an induction. I'm in bloody agony. SPD has ramped up up and any form of lying down is agony so I'm hardly sleeping. My sickness is back in overdrive, I'm on Cyclizine for that (been on it all the way through). Iron tablets as iron was low at 28 weeks (though back up to normal now), omeprazole for awful reflux (had all the way through) and daily clexane injections since 26 weeks.

It's all starting to get a bit much if I'm honest.

mumof2xox · 24/07/2016 16:43

Hello everyone I'm just place marking!

I'm due on August 6th any due date buddies?

last week & a few days to go! SmileSmile

Belager · 24/07/2016 17:52

Just a quick hello to all the newbies! Can't believe how soon August now is!
Big hugs to anyone that's still suffering.
DbroIL came round to see Ashley today, he's a personal trainer and asked me when I'm going to start losing my belly. Furious isn't the word!

Also (TMI) managed first poo since birth... Fucking hell.

Biscuitswithtea · 24/07/2016 18:20

Oh gawds, yes, first & a few more after that poo post delivery is a grim experience! May I suggest holding a pad to your bits? It does help...

As for your 'dear' BIL, Belager, well fiddlededee. What a daft thing to say!

Welcome newbies. There were a few of us due on 6th August (myself included) but I think at least two of those babies have come early! I've lost track...

Christinedonna · 24/07/2016 18:29

Oh Lordy. Spent the day blitzing the house, moving rooms around etc and now majorly suffering with belly and back ache. Probably just from over doing it as opposed to it meaning anything but ouch! OH is also going to get a punch in the face if he so much as breaths wrong for the rest of the day..

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 24/07/2016 19:07

Congratulations fizzy hope she isn't in SCBU for long.
Welcome to the newbies! Nice to see people still joining the thread.

cola I know you've posted on and off through the pregnancy and I'm really sorry you are having such a rough time. Small comfort but not that long to go, have you spoken to your midwife at all? Or tried some relaxation tracks to help feel a bit more in control?

sophia I'm jealous that things are moving along for you. I think I would probably stay home but that's maybe just me - would you be able to come home if it ramped up? I've had no real twinges at all apart from increased braxton hicks but I've been having them for ages.

Roselau · 24/07/2016 19:13

Hello!
Just popping on here for the first time. Due Aug 26 with second little girl - my first is 2.5 years old.

Hope everyone is feeling ok! Congrats on the early babies

Roselau · 24/07/2016 19:16

I forgot to say I live in Canada! I was pregnant with my first one when I was living in the UK and that's when I discovered mumsnet.

BerylMeeps · 24/07/2016 20:14

How's it going guys?!

Just been to see my friend in hospital (see earlier post!) and they are doing so much better, weight put on and on solid foods, they hope they're being moved to psych ward soon to get things moving as the ward they are on is tedious apparently! Very chatty today so I'm happy, such an improvement. They are V excited about imminent lumpybumps arrival too.

One week to go! I'm terrified but accepting now, so fingers crossed! Good luck to all the ladies showing signs! 🍰🍰🍷🍷!!

Longtimelistener · 24/07/2016 20:23

Cola So sorry you're having such an awful time of it at the moment. I hope you get some good news at tomorrow's appointment.

Belager Can't believe your brother in law..I'd have been livid!
I missed out on the whole first poo thing last time - they accidentally prescribed me double the recommended dose of lactulose for the first few days. That was fun Hmm

Well, I've just asked what time I should arrange for OH to be here tomorrow, only to be told I'm in the diary for an induction on Tuesday!! Turns out they're overbooked for tomorrow, so it looks like someone put me in for Tuesday and forgot to tell me. I've already finished all my books, OH is now going in to work for the day..I honestly don't mind baby cooking for an extra day, but what on earth am I going to do all day?!

Longtimelistener · 24/07/2016 20:25

Sorry Beryl I think I cross posted. So glad to hear your friend is doing better :)

GoingLoopyQuickly · 24/07/2016 20:29

Hello all, I wondered if I could join the party late? I am due 28/7 (so this thursday) with dc2. I know that is technically not August but it would be great to be around others dropping where there are only a couple of us left waiting in the July thread and everyone will seem to be passed the newborn phase by the time I finally meet my little lady.

My first (ds) came at 38+4, so this is the longest I have been pregnant and likely to be the last 🙁. I have been thinking that his timely arrival was probably due to a dodgy placenta and a couple of bleeds during the pregnancy. None of that this time, and it all seems to be going by the book.

Planning a home birth again, so fingers crossed that works out too.

On another note I saw a question here about slings and stretchies, I have seen many men in stretchies, but your dh may find it easier to use the newborn insert for the ergo. I know my dp doesn't have the patience for wrapping but is really happy with the reverse half buckle i had made for ds andche loved having a hip seat later on. Check out a local sling library and slig facebook pages for ideas and advice.

OwlinaTree · 24/07/2016 20:43

Congratulations fizzy! Hope you are able to enjoy cuddles soon.

Been round IKEA today, got lots of stuff to sort 2nd bedroom into my sons's room, was a successful trip! Rearranged our bedroom too so we could get another wardrobe in and got the Moses basket out. 2.5yo got in it straight away of course!

GruffaloPants · 24/07/2016 21:12

Hi everyone. I haven't been on since the early threads (I was Tattie). Kept meaning to return but regnant you flew in without me realising! Won't be back for long as I am getting induced tonight! I'm 36+1. Have had steroids so hoping baby won't need too much extra care. Good luck to everyone and congratulations to Fizzy.

Christinedonna · 25/07/2016 00:00

So I don't know if anyone remembers but a few weeks ago I said about how I'd started boob massaging and trying to prepare myself for breast feeding and stimulate it all working..and how a few little ducts would now and again (when squeezed) produce little pin head size amounts of colostrum..well! I haven't really been doing it lately but just squeezed a boob before I got in the shower and narrowly missed it squirting in my eye! THEY WORK

Laineypopps · 25/07/2016 00:39

Congratulations on all he lovely bundles arriving!!! Wow they are coming thick and fast!!

I'm officially full term now at 37 weeks (+4 days) but I do not feel ready for this baby to come!! With my last baby (DS now 5) I was all prepped weeks and weeks before he arrived, now I am still missing a few essentials and have literally bought a dozen sleep suits and that's about it. Ah well!! I'm on annual leave from work (schools closed so fixed holidays) but popping in a few more days to tie up loose ends. Think I'll feel better after that!

I am unbelievably and irrationally grumpy at the moment. I could also sleep forever. My poor DH and DS are totally getting it in the neck constantly. I feel so bad but can't help it! I am a joy to be around 😂😂!!

Trying to catch up on all the posts - hope your friend is doing better beryl - such a stressful thing! Congrats Coco, fizzy and hg. Hope little ones and mummies are all doing well!! Loving the names! We are struggling to decide in a name for our wee one so getting lots of inspiration here!!!

biscuits thrush is a pita with BF babies. DS had it when he was a week old and it was hard to get rid of. We ended up using nipple guards which I hated but it did limit the spread as I could bung them in steriliser. Hope it clears up soon. sophie things are sounding really promising and I hope it happens for you soon!!!

I think that we have decided on an ergo 360 carrier for baby but would like to try first. Our nearest along library is ages away so need to wait until baby is here and do a test in shops. All advice gratefully received!! My friend is gifting us her stretchy for first wee while to see how we like it.

I can't copy the birth list on my phone but I would be very grateful if the next person to update the could add me in? Please and thank you.

Hi to all the newbies & returners!
Cola I remember you from earlier threads, having a bad time then as well. Sorry to hear it sounds like it's gotten worse rather than better. At least the finish line is in sight now.
Sophia how are you getting on?? Any news??
Longtime hope you're managing to entertain yourself today. Naughty of them to move your slot without telling you!
Shan hope your little wriggler is behaving. I think an ELCS is very different than an EMCS so you will probably be fine even with your MIL there.
Beryl glad to hear your friend is doing well and that you're feeling ok about everything.
Belager I really feel you on the post-birth poo! Braved it yesterday, wasn't too bad actually but the thought was utterly terrifying. And your BIL is a fool. Ignore, ignore, ignore!

All good here. Can't believe Jack is 3 days old already! It's all going too fast, I wish I could just press pause for a little bit and steal a bit of extra time. These days are so precious. He was up from 3am - 4.30am in a 'feed-poo-nappy change-wake up' cycle, and on the one hand I could really do with the sleep, but on the other there's something lovely about having that quiet night time just me and him. (Need to remember that in 6 weeks when the sleep deprivation has really kicked in!)
Milk came in yesterday and has relentlessly continued to do so - boobs are enormous and rock hard today. Hoping they deflate a bit, not keen on this Jordan look!
Going up to see my family at the end of the week, can't wait for my mum to meet him Grin sorry for being so soppy in recent posts, but these really do feel like the very best of days ❤️

Sophia1984 · 25/07/2016 14:24

No news here alas! Actually slept without much kicking or cramps till 4.30 this morning then was wide awake. Still lots of mucus plug coming away but beginning to think that's just because I had the sweep and not because anything is progressing. Possibly feeling pessimistic as just seen friend who went to 40+16 :-(

LotsOfDots · 25/07/2016 15:09

Hi everyone, no action here yet. Having lots of Brixton hicks, and on Friday night they were waking me from sleep hourly - but didn't progress to proper contractions.

Kind of done with being pregnant now - too tiring trying to keep the older DC occupied in the school holidays. This was bad timing! I have my neighbour's teenage daughter again this afternoon though - she is doing baking with the girls at the moment and I am having a nice sit down and catching up on MN.

Baby is not allowed to arrive tomorrow due to various family commitments - after that, it can arrive any time now please thank you. DD1 was 10 days late, DD2 was 2 days late so if this one would like to follow the pattern and be 6 days early then Thursday would be fine thanks!

Sophia1984 · 25/07/2016 16:19

GlenCoco It's so nice to hear you say that about it being the very best of days - you hear so many horror stories about first few weeks being stressed and anxious and sleep-deprived. It's nice to have love and joy to look forward to as well!

MrsPMT23 · 25/07/2016 18:10

Great to hear things are going well Coco!

Nothing happening here at 38+4, convinced I'm going to be overdue.

To those who have had their LOs what would you say is the best way to spend these first few weeks of mat leave before the baby comes? Prepping for the first few weeks by cleaning/cooking frozen meals as much as I can now?

rumisyum · 25/07/2016 18:13

Hello ladies, another early baby here! Our little girl arrived this morning, after a weekend-long palaver. Bit of a dramatic entrance, but all completely fine for us both in the end. She even completely spared my perineum, kind child. Currently somewhat impatiently waiting to be released from our observation period & sent home from hospital- can't wait to be settling in at home as a family of four.

Looking forward to joining the other new mums on the graveyard feeding shifts! I have fond memories of those, but recent experience shows that where memory serves for birth & newborns may not be entirely accurate in my case! Wink

Colabottle10 · 25/07/2016 18:29

Hi all,

36+6 today.

Well had 2 consultants in my appointment today! (Neither of them the actual one I'm under but never mind...).

First one, said he was a Medical consultant - looked at my blood results from the weekend. He said they weren't bad, but what was bad was that they were irregular. He wants me on insulin. Something else to take! That's Omeprazole, Cyclizine, Clean injections, Iron tablets and now bloody insulin!

He then handed over the the Ob Gyn who said well, we might not put you on insulin, we're going to induce you between 37-38 weeks anyway.... She listened to the hb and felt baby - all fine.

So I've got an appointment tomorrow morning with the medical consultant from today to see the diabetic nurse. Apparently they will also examine me to see how my cervix is doing (I'm guessing there will be a MW there somewhere?) and I'll also get a date for induction.

I'm still confused as to what is actually happening. Ob Gyn said they need to make sure baby is low down enough to induce otherwise it will become a section....but also that if I went into labour naturally they wouldn't stop it?

It seems like many mixed messages.

I'm not sure to see Com MW until next week, but if I'm still confused, I'll either give her a call tomorrow or I'll take myself up to the Preg Ass Unit at the hospital tomorrow - I've met all the MWs there and they've all been lovely, so I'm sure they would see me.

This pregnancy has been truly shit - I've had every bloody shite thing going -thank god it's nearly over!
