I'm also not bothered about routine - I found with DS that it was better for me to follow his lead, and eventually we fell into a routine of sorts.

I'm a bit of a pram addict, and although we already have three, I can't help but look! We have a baby jogger city mini lite, which lives in the car and is brilliant for in town - really light and easy to fold. I don't think I would have liked it from birth though, as it's only forward facing. We also have a bugaboo buffalo, which we use for walking - it's amazing but very big and heavy, abut like a tank. My mum has an armadillo flip, which has been good but it's been recalled so we don't know whether to take advantage of their offer to trade it in. I really like the look of the baby jogger city premier. Having used quite a few pushchairs now, I think it's really important to really think about what's important to you, and how you'll use it.

I'm 24+2 now, and seeing the midwife tomorrow. I still haven't heard from physio, so have to chase that up - by the end of the day I can't walk and getting up is very painful.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Hi ladies
Just checking back in as it's been a while. I'm 25+2 now and feeling mostly ok but definitely going through a growth spurt and struggling to get any kind of sleep at night what with just getting comfortable and then needing a wee, baby having a disco or dropping off then waking up feeling like my eyes are as dry as the desert!
Picked our pram but not bought it yet we are going with the icandy peach. Got NCT booked for end of August.
Can any other already mummies offer advice on furniture sets? I like the look of the mamas and papas sets and they have some good deals on right now with their sale but the reviews seem to be quite a mixed bag in terms of quality. Does anyone have any experience with m+p furniture? Would mothercare sets be any better? X

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 07/07/2016 21:26

We bought a second hand mamas and papas furniture set from my cousin. It was quite old, but had only been used for one baby, but the drawers stick, the wardrobe wobbles, and one of the slats in the cot broke. The quality may have improved since then though. I am glad we bought second hand though, as DS refused to sleep in the cot and was in a bed before he turned one. This time I think we're going to get the ikea stuva furniture - it's quite reasonable and I won't mind so much if the cot never gets used.

Kariana · 07/07/2016 22:06

My only experience with Mamas and Papas furniture is that my friend has a set for her baby and loves it. The quality seems good and it looks nice. We bough a set for half price in the sale last week but it's not being delivered till later. We'd looked at loads from various places and the one we bought was the only one my dh and I agreed on!

EvangelineP · 08/07/2016 02:27

Hello! I'm 24 weeks today. Has anyone done the NCT refresher course just to meet new mums? DS1 will be in school next September so would like to do baby groups etc with this one.

Kariana · 08/07/2016 07:31

I think I've missed my chance at the NCT classes. The area I'm moving to doesn't seem to have much going on and the first class info I can find is for January due dates. Earlier ones seem to be full Confused

April241 · 08/07/2016 07:57

Hi all, just catching up on the last week. Thanks for the congrats Smile. 24 weeks today so 3 weeks till i'm in the third trimester but i'm over the moon i've got to 24, another milestone complete!!

Afreshstartplease Yep first babies, don't know the sexes so we're just buying all neutral things and trying to think of at least 4 names and a few back ups! So exciting Grin

EnoughAlready999 Pregnancy has been really tough some days and fine others, my first trimester was just exhaustion, nausea and vomiting and lots of abdominal pain. Second has been easier in terms of n&v which stopped about 19/20 weeks but i've had left hip pain, heartburn and breathlessness...never ends haha! My bump is pretty big, my friend sent me a picture of her 36 week singleton bump and I swear we're the same size haha!

Afreshstartplease Can you get a tubigrip for your pain? I've had one since 19 weeks and it really does help brilliantly, I wear it for work and on my days off I find i'm not as sore.

Weight gain - 19.4lbs on so far, wahhh!

Antenatal classes - i've decided against going to any, the mw said they're not very good for twinnies but I can try get a place on one in the hospital i'll be giving birth in as they're more twin/multiple specific. I'm not one for group chats and things though, i'd rather just muddle through and figure everything out myself, OH is the same so think we'll give them a miss.

Mat leave - i've got 6 weeks left at work, will be 30 weeks when I finish and taking 3 weeks annual leave before starting mat leave at 33 weeks. I dropped a day in work using annual leave as i'm starting to struggle when i'm there - hoping I can get through the next 6 weeks, i'm determined!

Pram - we've bought our parents have bought the Bugaboo Donkey twin with the car seat attachment and two car seats, should be here the end of Aug, so looking forward to getting it!! Would really have struggled had they not helped out. I feel awful when people buy us things, never been one to ask for help.

Our nursery furniture is arriving next week and we've got enough clothes to last us the first few days. BlueberryMuffin85 we got our nursery furniture at Mothercare, they have a brilliant sale on just now.

When is everyone planning on packing their hospital bag? I'm doing mine early, probably around 30/31 weeks incase twinnies come early. Also is anyone else having an elective section? I've spoken to my mw about it who said it'll be fine to get one but not my consultant, he's a bit of a mad hatter!

Hope you're all doing well!! I can't wait to get to the third trimester!

Sheesh - long post!! I need to get online more often.

EnoughAlready999 · 08/07/2016 18:44

Why do you want a caesarean April? I know of several women who have had successful vaginally births including one who had triplets. Unless there's a medical reason, it's better for the babies to be born naturally - the bacteria they are exposed to in the birth canal is very beneficial for their immune system etc.

April241 · 08/07/2016 19:01

Hi, EnoughAlready999 it's just a personal choice Smile. I've weighed up both vaginal delivery and c section and spoken with a lot of consultants in work regarding it (i'm a theatre nurse) and for me it's something i'd prefer to do. One of my close friends has a best friend who gave birth to twin boys recently and very sadly the second twin died during birth as he was breech and the cord wrapped round his neck too tightly to be released. I know this isn't the norm and could happen in a singleton but it's definitely been playing on my mind.

I've spoken with lots of twin mums too, some with natural births who had no problems at all, some who had great difficultly and needed emergency sections, and some who had elective sections and for me there's just too much uncertainty for the second baby. If I were having one baby a section wouldn't even cross my mind, but I know me and my OH wouldn't be able to enjoy the birth as i'd be terrified twin two got into problems.

When I spoke with my mw she agreed with me based on her experiences and said she would have suggested a section had I not said so myself.

I might not get the choice for a vaginal delivery anyway depending on babies positions. They've been facing head down at my 16 week and 20 scan and based on all the movements at my 22 week appt the mw thought they were still head down although i'm very much aware they could change several times before now and when they're here.

Afreshstartplease · 08/07/2016 20:11

Preparing for twins must be crazy. And expensive.

I'll do my bag for 36 weeks, three DC already all born after 38 weeks so feel 36 is a safe bet

Where can I get a tubi grip? I bought a maternity support belt off Amazon but I can't wear it it's so uncomfortable

I have a mother care not from when I had dd 3 years ago, looking at getting a cot top changer for it, are they a universal size does anyone know? Or can anyone recommend a nice white one which doesn't cost the earth

April241 · 08/07/2016 20:25

Afreshstartplease I got a tubigrip from physio but I know you're waiting for your appt, i've seen others getting them from Amazon and one of the girls in my work got a few from her midwife at one of her appointments.

Have you read up on exercises to loosen the muscles and how to do things like get out of bed, in/out of car etc. Don't want to seem patronising at all but I didn't have a clue until I went to physio and she asked me to show her how I got out the chair/bed etc then showed me how I should actually be doing it. Has made such a difference!

Afreshstartplease · 08/07/2016 20:38

I have unfortunately had spd before (on baby 4) so yes I'm familiar with the tips and tricks of getting out of bed and the car etc. I think I'm going to need crutches TBH because my legs give way if I'm not careful after being sat down/asleep for too long

April241 · 08/07/2016 20:46

Afreshstartplease oh no! that sounds really bad Sad

Afreshstartplease · 08/07/2016 20:49

I think four pregnancies have just broken my body Sad

OP posts:
April241 · 08/07/2016 20:53

Hugs, I really hope the rest of your pregnancy is easy, that's such a shame. October isn't far...although some days it seems like years away!

Afreshstartplease · 08/07/2016 21:17

I'm going part time at work at the end of the month, I think this will help lots TBH then finishing completely by 32 weeks

EnoughAlready999 · 08/07/2016 21:18

Sounds like you've done your research April and that is very sad about your friend's friend's twins. One of my friend gave birth to her first naturally but the 2nd had to be emergency caesarean which must have been scary. Also painful as you'd have the usual discomfort of a SVD combined with the recovery from major surgery.

It was quite funny today: one of the dad's at school came over and seemed very awkward as he thought I was pregnant but wasn't sure. I was running the cake stall at the summer fair so I said "no, I've just had too much cake!" Haha, I don't know why he asked if it was so embarrassing for him. I told him the truth soon after anyway. I can't believe people can't tell!

JulietteL · 10/07/2016 09:09

Checking in: 27 weeks today.

I'm planning to work through to the end of September, but I'm using annual leave to go down to three days a week from mid-August.

I gave up on nursery furniture in the end: mothercare stuff has dreadful reviews (mainly for how difficult they are to assemble) and everywhere else is stupidly expensive. So we just bought a normal chest of drawers and will get a changing mat to go on top. We'll use the chicco next to you for the first six months and buy a cot later.

We're doing nct classes in September - which feels a bit late, but the only earlier ones were June!

Afreshstartplease · 10/07/2016 09:22

25+4 today

Lots of dry heaving this morning which was obviously yuck, haven't had it for a few weeks - hope it's a one off

OP posts:
Blueskygirl30 · 10/07/2016 09:39

We've gone for this cot bed set
www.preciouslittleone.com/product-information/47/11614/east-coast-langham-oak-sleigh-bed-3-piece-furniture-set/
It's for our first but we bought the set from friends of ours who've had their child in it for 4 years already and it's still sturdy and to be honest looks like it's new so I could reccomend that brand based on that.

I've booked onto the NCT course in my area but think I might all so go along to the three NHS sessions, mainly because work have decided not to give me anything to do at all throughout my pregnancy and I'm starting to get a bit bored. My NCT classes don't start until end of August.

Afresh the dry heaving on top of everything else sounds rough, I hope at least that portion of your pregnancy woes stops soon!

Enough that's funny about the man asking about being pregnant, I wouldn't ask anyone unless I was totally sure they were definitely pregnant. A shopkeeper asked me how far I had to go the other day but then asked my non-pregnant friend if she's pregnant, awkward!

Afreshstartplease · 10/07/2016 09:40

I was asked twice in public yesterday by strangers how long I had left so I must definitely be of whale status by now

OP posts:
Kariana · 10/07/2016 09:57

Despite the fact that my bump is sticking out way more than my chest (which is also quite big now for my tiny frame) no one has asked me yet! When I mention it in conversation I still get "oh I wondered but I wasn't sure". I'm either meeting super polite people or my clothes are just making me look fat!

Fresh that sounds rough, hope it's just a one off for you. I've had a bit of nausea recently too. Fingers crossed for both of us that the first trimester sickness doesn't return.

Afreshstartplease · 10/07/2016 10:20

Clearly people near me are ruder lol. It's strangers who ask me, people who know me and are aware I can be abit fiery are not asking yet lol, I think they are scared of my reaction if I wasn't actually pregnant although I quite obviously am by now. I'm also small framed usually size 8 pre pregnancy and I'm short too so there isn't anywhere for baby to go except outwards

Welcome Derek - I saw your other thread - must be a shock. I'm sure it'll all work out.

I'm 24+5, and have been having leg cramps for a couple of weeks now. I either need to stand up or pull my feet up towards my legs to get rid of them - they're really not pleasant.
