Soooooo, I am in hospital after having contractions all afternoon. 28 weeks tomorrow so I've been given steroid injections (which hurt like an absolute bitch!) and stuff to stop the contractions. Things do seem to be slowing down now, and my cervix is still closed, so hopefully baby will stay put.

We bought lots of stuff from m&p too, and then used our voucher to buy some more bits. But now we have another £15 voucher! Ironically I was shopping for baby stuff this afternoon when I started contracting, marks and Spencer have some lovely baby girl stuff.

LisaTheSimpson · 05/08/2016 22:30

Oh wow, Knit, hope you're ok! Must have been scary, but glad you're in the right place for it.

Fingers crossed it all stays closed up there and baby cooks a little longer! x

April241 · 05/08/2016 22:31

northern yeah I regretted walking as soon as I'd started, my car currently needs fixed but my OH was going to wait and take me home before he started work, I said to him just to go to work so he didn't need to stay back late. Should have accepted his offer :-P

knit oh no! Hope everything turns out okay, are they keeping you in a while?

IKnitSoIDontKill · 05/08/2016 22:37

They're keeping me in at least until tomorrow, with the hope that I will have an uneventful night and things will have stopped by morning. I'm a doctor, which is good in a way as I know what's going on and why, but also not great when I know all of the stuff that could go wrong. And I HATE being in hospital as a patient.

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 05/08/2016 22:49

Oh no knit - I hope everything's ok. At least you're in the right place.

Afreshstartplease · 06/08/2016 08:56

How are you this morning knit?

OP posts:
ChatterNatterer · 06/08/2016 09:08

knit hope things have settled down this morning and you can go home Flowers

Afreshstartplease · 06/08/2016 09:15

We are stumped for a boys name does anyone want to inspire me?

OP posts:
SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 06/08/2016 09:29

Fresh we're stumped for girls names! If this baby had been a boy he would probably have been Gruffydd- Gruff for short. The only two girls names we agree on are Anwen and Nia, but I'm not sure. I'm hoping I'll know when I meet her!

How are you this morning knit?

Kariana · 06/08/2016 10:05

Hope everything is ok this morning knit that must have been scary. Hope it's all stopped overnight.

Anyone else got a stitch like pain in their rib cage. It's all over the front of the lower right of my ribs and it hurts so much I can hardly sit down comfortably. Was awful trying to get to sleep last night.

BlueberryMuffin85 · 06/08/2016 10:47

Hope you're doing ok this morning knit
Shock newmum hope your bruises are fading, that's awful!

I have absolutely no idea on boys names..really need to start having a proper think! Think we have our girls names don't know why girls seem so much easier!

obsessedlex · 06/08/2016 11:06

Morning all - knit hope you are ok?
What has everyone gone for in the way of change bags? I thought I'd cracked it and bought the marlow bag from jem +bea in grey camo print but now we've chosen the cyber cloud q car seat in butterflies which is green camo with butterflies on its just not going to work!!! Too much going on - so I'm going to have to send it back. Sorry about the third world problem!! Xx

Afreshstartplease · 06/08/2016 11:07

I got a matching one with my pram so I'll be using that!

OP posts:
obsessedlex · 06/08/2016 11:08

Oh and is anyone else suffering from horrible aching arm from the whooping cough vaccine? I had it on Thursday and it's getting worse!! Way worse than my anti d injection with the massive needle that I was anticipating giving me grief!!

obsessedlex · 06/08/2016 11:11

Oh did you fresh -there is a matching one available but it's loads of money and messenger style which I didn't really want.

Newmum90 · 06/08/2016 11:21

Knit sending you and baby lots of best wishes. Please keep us updated. I had literally the same injections this time last week and everything has stopped for me now so fingers crossed you'll be the same! Are you fairly organised for if baby does arrive early?

Re: changing bags, i didnt have a clue what to get but found one i liked that didnt look too feminine (as im hoping OH will take a turn to carry it) on ebay so went for that! It was barely used.

I havent sorted out a car seat yet and honestly havent a clue where to start. Ice got an icandy pram and would like something that can fit on to that straight out of the car. Can any experienced mummies advise what i need?

Afreshstartplease · 06/08/2016 11:53

Mine was included in the price with the pram and carseat, £422. Had similar bag for dd and found it fine used daily until she was nearly 2. and I like the matchyness

Afreshstartplease · 06/08/2016 11:55

Had my wc on Tues and arm is just starting to feel better

I now cannot lie on my back at all, the pain this causes is horrendous but don't have back pain unless I lie on it!

Had a quick look on mothercares checklist earlier and have the vast majority of the baby things on it, need to stock up on some bits for me for after birth and then there's just a couple of bits I would like that aren't necessities but would be nice e.g. a baby swing

Newmum we have a maxi cosi pebble and the family fix isofix base (which can also be used with tree next stage car seat). It definitely fits on our pram, and I'm sure it'll fit on an icandy too, though you might need adapters. We've found it to be fine, though it is quite heavy, so I wouldn't want to carry it far, though it's fine to carry to/from the house and lift in and out of the car.

IKnitSoIDontKill · 06/08/2016 14:00

Thanks for the happy thoughts, baby is still in and I am getting very bored. Still contracting but they are much improved now- last night they were every 3 minutes and serious 'breathe through the pain and crush dh's hand' contractions. Now they're just annoying. Hopefully the nifedipine is working. They're keeping me in for a few days though, and I'll likely be on bedrest so no more work for me. We had a holiday booked for this week too, which I now can't go on. Sad
I've had antenatal depression through this pregnancy, so have felt a little weird about it, but the last few weeks I was just starting to feel better and it was all feeling more real. Now it's a bit too real.

We are pretty organised for baby, although like fresh I still have a few things to get for myself. We already had a lot of things from dd which helps. If she's born now she won't be home for a while anyway, so we should have time to get sorted.

Afreshstartplease · 06/08/2016 14:06

Glad to hear baby is staying put knit

Time to put your feet up and online shop for those last bits I say!

Oh my goodness, I am such pain. Bump hurting all over. Hope I'm not the next to go into early labour. DP did upset me earlier so I'm worried that might have triggered something.
Right leg painful too and noticed I have loads more thread veins on my lower leg.

Afreshstartplease · 06/08/2016 20:42

Bad case of fanny daggers whenever I walk tonight

Don't have thread veins but all my leg veins are now visible through my skin which is attractive!

My bumps been pretty tender last couple of weeks I think we have entered the big growth part of pregnancy now though and it's likely all stretching pains

ChatterNatterer · 06/08/2016 20:45

Ach enough hope not ;(

fresh our baby would have been Zachary if we were having a boy :)

Re pram bags - we got a Uppababy Vista - and they do it in umpteen colours but the pram bags are in about 4 colours, of which our pram colour isn't one - so we have to go for black, I didn't want a black one! Still need to order that!

Re car seats, I have a bad back so we have gone for one that stays in the car - cybex sirona, couple of friends have had them and say good things - should last til she's 4 we hope.

Back from a BBQ and made the mistake of sitting the whole time in the sun, I have bad T shirt lines but also feel out of sorts so think i will have an early night - I worship the sun normally but since being pregnant I can't take it as much!
