Ds came 13 days late I'm sort of assuming it'll happen again will be unprepared if it's early!!

Afreshstartplease · 28/07/2016 11:18

What pushchair are you getting Beth

I've had mine about a month and not even played with it yet! Amazed!

Just started cleaning the bathroom and then all of a sudden got sharp pain around and above my belly button, the area is really hard and hurts when I touch it or when I move. Ouch. Having a five min sit down to see if it stops

My NHS classes don't start til September - feels late!

We've ordered our pushchair but it's living at the shop til September - although I do have the isofix base here! I'm wondering what to do with it as there's superstitions about having it in the house before the baby, but we don't have family nearby to look after it for us in the meantime and I don't really want to leave it with a friend (partly because I don't want to have to go get it from them / have them drop it off when he arrives). wondering whether to just keep it here and be practical!

Afreshstartplease · 28/07/2016 12:05

OK baby moved and pain gone, no idea what he was doing in there but hopefully it was as uncomfortable for him as it was for me and he doesn't do it again!,

Anyone have any idea if the fact that dc1 arrived early means that dc2 is more likely to arrive early? DS was born at 37+5. It'd be nice if this one's the same!

Afreshstartplease · 28/07/2016 12:53

Mine were born

5 days early
11 days early
3 days early.

Good luck with the exam schnitzel, try not worry about the baby being effected by stress levels, lots of women go through super stressful events or lead really stressful lives and their babies are totally fine.

Taffeta I got my GD diagnosis almost 2 weeks ago, I've found that so far I can easily control my sugar levels with diet but it's a pain having to remember to take your blood an hour after every meal and blood sugar levels are likely to become more difficult to control as pregnancy progresses. Looking at the silver lining, it's forced me to reevaluate my diet and stop shovelling sugar filled junk into my mouth so I know that now my baby is definitely getting a lot more nutritious food. You'll get extra growth scans at around 31,35 & 38 weeks.

My midwife measured my bump at 26+6 but then at my next midwife appointment at 28+6 the midwife said that should have been the first measurement and that they'd disregard the first measurement. My 28 weeks measurement came up on the fifth percentile so I'm hoping it'll stay there, especially with my GD.

Age: 32
First child
Due date: 7th October
Sex: boy

Blueskygirl30 · 28/07/2016 13:34

^ I meant fiftieth percentile!

TaffetaMuttonfudge · 28/07/2016 13:45

Thanks Blue, I'm waiting for the GD midwife to call me to see how bad it is and set a plan. Have bought a low GI book for advice, and doesn't seem too onerous. Hate needles though, so I'm stressing!

EnoughAlready999 · 28/07/2016 13:54

Better to eat some nutritious, higher fat food than sugary crap. It affects the development of the baby's brain.

obsessedlex · 28/07/2016 14:01

HI Everyone
I was on this thread way back in the early days but haven't really been back since those terrifying early days - so hello again Grin
Age: 39
DC - 7yr old DD and this is my second (had a miscarriage in December Sad)
Due Date 12th October
Sex - another DD
Maternity Leave - not really having any - we have our own business with one other in the office so I will work as long as physically possible and then return with Bubba to do what needs to be done! Very envious of you all having a countdown to finishing !
Haven't really considered classes ignorantly assuming that I'll remember from 7 yrs ago - I'll just go with it! There are no classes offered by our area NHS even for 1st time mums which is appalling really.

Have a happy day everybody xx

EnoughAlready999 · 28/07/2016 14:13

Think you're the most similar to me ObsessedLex -

Age 34
One DD aged 10
Girl due Oct 16th
Not worked since Aug 2013 Blush

Figgygal · 28/07/2016 14:42

I asked the midwife last week about whether second babies tend to come early and she said that the best indicator is what happened with your first as DS was doubly late I'm not holding out much hope

Afreshstartplease · 28/07/2016 14:48

Personally I'm trying to keep thinking of baby being due date, that way if it is early it's a bonus.

When DC3 wasn't born by the time DC2 had been I was so fucking depressed because I'd got in a mind frame that it would be earlier!

ChatterNatterer · 28/07/2016 16:10

Glad the pain has gone fresh

My community midwife is so pants! Didn't ring up for my kidney/liver bloods after I said I got the 28 week blood results but not the extra tests the consultant ordered due to elevated BP, told me my urine had plus 1 protein but 'the stick is sensitive' and said nothing more, and when I said if my BP stays like this will it mean no induction due to BP? 'They take an overall picture'
Gee thanks!! They couldn't really tell if she was still breech, just spent most of the session on had I booked my next week's appointment and why it wasn't in my green book! And checking I had booked it on her computer system and then couldn't find it til I said its at such and such time and pointed at the screen! The interim one I had months ago and the holiday cover last week were so much better! Angry

April241 · 28/07/2016 16:13

Age: 29
First babies
Due date: 28th October but shouldn't go later than 7th October
Sex: haven't found out but my OH and I go between boy/girl and boy/boy
Maternity leave: Should have worked till 30 weeks then taken annual leave but signed off work at 25 weeks with back pain :(

I'm doing pregnancy yoga and I love it but I'm really really sore the rest of the day after it, got a new back brace from physio which I'm going to put on this week after class and see if it helps. Also planning on going swimming. We've decided against the antenatal classes, after talking to a few midwives they said we probably wouldn't get much out of them as they're more directed towards singles :(. There's a twin class at the hospital we'll be delivering in but it's about 25-30 minute drive and doesn't fit in with OH's working hours. We'll just need to wing it!

26+6 today! GIGANTIC FOOF is my main symptom just now other than back pain, I wonder somedays how I'm going to fit it into my pants.

Afreshstartplease · 28/07/2016 16:28

OMG I'm really struggling to drag my body about today , getting out of breath constantly - walking up stairs , picking things up etc

Don't remember being this unhealthy in previous pregnancies!

OP posts:
April241 · 28/07/2016 17:12

Aww Fresh you're not unhealthy at all! I get extremely breathless doing the simplest of things, you've got a bump and progesterone to contend with just now remember :)

Northern we've got our pram/car seats at home, I'm not superstitious though but my friend was really worried about having her car seat at home and had the pram delivered on her due date.

April241 · 28/07/2016 17:18

Beth do you have a Holland and Barrett near you? They do these sachets for iron and the woman told me they're really popular in pregnant ladies as they don't have the nasty side effects you get with iron tablets. Boots would maybe have them aswell actually but I've never looked for them there.

Hopelass · 28/07/2016 17:20

Hi I've not been back on the thread in ages Blush
Age: 34
Due date: 21.10.16
Baby#2 is a boy.
We already have a 2.9yo boy who was born 39+4 on 08.10.13

I really hope this one is slightly early like DS as it seemed the perfect time. I was all ready but not worked up about it and certainly not majorly fed up of waiting. I'd hate to go over due date by much but unfortunately it's not in my hands! I did take EPO and raspberry leaf tea and other stuff that I've forgotten.
Ooh clary sage oil in the bath I tried this from 39 weeks so that may have helped. Doesn't smell the nicest though. I've still got the bottle from 3 years ago Grin

Hopelass · 28/07/2016 17:25

Mat leave is starting at 37 weeks on 26th Sept but due to annual leave last day will be 8th Sept at 34 weeks. I did the same with DS and it felt the right time. Won't be going back until 19th Oct 2017 Shock

Afreshstartplease · 28/07/2016 17:54

I've been wondering if we can afford me to take full 12 months off as that plus next year's holidays could see me past DC3 starting school

Will have to do some sums at some point

OP posts:
positivity123 · 28/07/2016 17:59

I'm not superstitious either so I'm picking our pram up in a few weeks.
april it sounds like you are in a bit of pain. Hope you are OK. Are you joining g any multiple birth support groups?

Is anybody taking shared leave with their partner? I'm doing 9 months and DH is doing the last 3. I think it will help to keep our relationship more balanced as it will force me to let go a bit as I can be a bit of a control freak.

IKnitSoIDontKill · 28/07/2016 18:25

Hello all, can I join?

Age 27
Due on 29th October
It's a girl, we already have a 4 year old dd (she'll be 5 by the time dd2 is here)
Maternity leave starts at 34 weeks, although I have antenatal depression, spd and an irritable uterus so expect to be signed off before then!

I've got all the baby stuff here and set up already. My antenatal depression has come with a feeling of it all not quite being real, and awful anxiety about the baby, and having all the stuff around helps reassure me that we are really having a baby, and it will probably all be fine.

I'm in the lucky position of being the main breadwinner with a good maternity package, dh is a sahd. So we will both spend 9 months at home with the baby, before I return to work. My dd has a different dad, who was abusive and left me to do it by myself, so I'm really looking forward to having some support this time.

ChatterNatterer · 28/07/2016 19:46

Hi knit :)

Sounds like you're going to have a lovely time on at leave with DH and 2 DDs Flowers
