A home for all of us enjoying the surreality of the first trimester. We're sick as dogs, exhausted to the core, our boobs hurt, we've developed superhuman senses of smell and we're shirking all alcoholic bevvies with a variety of lame excuses...

...we're preggers and over the moon! Join us if you're due in February 2017 and fancy wisdom for the weirdness, support for any sadness, and a safe place where you can get excited about what the future holds, before you go public!

Third thread already (we're a chatty bunch!) Second thread here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/2662110-Due-in-February-2017-thread-2?

itslittlek I'm constantly thirsty about every other day. It seems to proceed extreme breast pain for some reason. I just keep drinking pints of ice water.

scary sorry the pregnancy has wreaked such havoc on your body. Glad to hear you are on the mend though.

BohemianRaspberry · 06/07/2016 18:00

Hi sparrow! I'm 7+3 so we may be due date buddies Smile

I am so sorry mcbaby xxx

Sienna9522 · 06/07/2016 18:18

So sorry McBaby Flowers take care.

Had my scan today, measuring 7+1, so a day behind what I thought I was. We was told it looks like a good viable pregnancy. It measures 10.47mm and HB is 154. I am slightly worried though, I was told I have a corpus luteal cyst on my right ovary. Not quite sure how this might affect the pregnancy.

GinIsIn · 06/07/2016 18:19

Just had to excuse myself from a meeting in case I was sick. Well this is a new low! SadEnvy

Evergreen17 · 06/07/2016 18:23

I dont understand any of these codes people are using EMCS, CNL, VBAC, ELCS Sad
Can we keep it simple for the first timers? Sad

Itslittlek · 06/07/2016 18:36

Emergency C Section....Vaginal Birth After C Section....Elective C Section.... don't know about the other one.... :)

SkyLucy · 06/07/2016 18:48

Oh MrsM I'm with you! Feel absolutely dreadful today, and had to tell a second person at work because I kept running out of a training session to retch/grab biscuits! This too shall pass.....right?!

Thanks so much to everyone for the booking appt info, I'm quite looking forward to it!

As to birth, agh! I'm veering between C-section and water birth...I know they're poles apart! I'm a weird combo of "too scared to push" and "hippy vegan water baby". Interested to see which side of me prevails!

sienna the corpus luteal cyst is where you ovulated from. It's normal and will go away.

Sienna9522 · 06/07/2016 19:13

Ahh thanks Gumboots

MarjorySunshineDust · 06/07/2016 19:16

I planned to have a water birth with dd but when my waters broke labour took a couple of days to get going so they weren't keen to let me in the water. Then when things really got going they were a bit worried about dd heart rate so stayed on the ward instead. I actually ended up giving birth flat on my back on the bed with an episiotomy which horrified me beforehand, but it was honestly fine. The worst part was having quite a big haemorrhage afterwards and needing monitoring. I'm not worried about labour but hope I don't haemorrhage again as that was scary.

gumbootsandjandals · 06/07/2016 19:17

So, we've put off telling family about the pregnancy because my husband has left his job (a sort of voluntary redundancy if you will) and we didn't want to bombard them with news.

DH told his dad about the redundancy last week, then admitted to the pregnancy on Sunday. He has been sworn to secrecy (but obvs can tell MIL).

Anyway, forgetting that a lot of news can be hard to take in at once, I rang my dad this morning (my parents live abroad btw) to wish him well for his surgery, and to specifically tell him he was going to be a grandad again. My parents are coming over in Dec but we've had to tell them they may not be able to stay with us. We don't want to go into full details why so I thought I should tell dad about DH's redundancy, and the fact he's looking for new jobs and we might move. I then added "and I'm pregnant so it makes things even more complicated". He said "of yes". I guess he was wondering if he heard me correctly. He didn't say anything else about the baby ie offer congrats. Anyway, have just had a message from mum saying they're shocked to hear about the redundancy. No mention of baby. So I've just replied that I'm pregnant and feeling sick.

What a way to break the news. Not my finest moment(s)!

In other news I was getting worried I hadn't heard from a MW so after about 10 attempts finally got through to be told I have been allocated and my MW is on annual leave but back on Fri so I should hear from her then. I will be 10 weeks. A bit annoyed it's so late but shouldn't be surprised. With DC2 I had my booking appt at 13+ weeks, a week after my scan.

GinIsIn · 06/07/2016 19:18

Sky - it's horrific, isn't it?! Being sick at work is pretty much my worst nightmare. I swear work think I'm crazy because I'm spending a good 40% of the work day hiding in the loos trying not to throw up!

Evergreen17 · 06/07/2016 19:47

Thanks Itslittle Smile

Evergreen17 · 06/07/2016 19:50

Gumsboots I am sure your dad didnt hear you!!! Grin

gumbootsandjandals · 06/07/2016 19:55

Ha, mum's just replied saying dad didn't say anything...and congratulations...

ButtonTum · 06/07/2016 20:01

Haha gum, classic dad move Smile

GinandJazzHands · 06/07/2016 20:54

Oh gum bless your poor dad he probably just didn't take it in; I can imagine your mum having a go at him lol! Been off work a day and a half with ms; really want to go back in tomorrow but similarly terrified of vomming in front of everyone! Thanks for the reassurance re everyone's previous birth stories; good to hear even the ones on the awful side haven't put anyone off. I like the idea of a birth plan being more of a 'well let's see what happens' kind of an affair.

Hazandduck · 06/07/2016 21:44

I am in so much shock I went for dinner with my best friend tonight and told her about the baby. She was over the moon, then said that is so strange I'm late and have just bought a pregnancy test....her last period was about 6 weeks ago....putting her in the February due bracket!!! I am just bursting with excitement!!! Sorry I had to share with you all, may have to convince her to join our chat! My other best friend told me she was pregnant and then asked when my last period was and said you're late and made me do a test. It is like a chain between our friends! I'm so delighted. X

GinandJazzHands · 06/07/2016 22:19

Oh haz that's lovely. I've got a good friend who is two months further along than me (sadly two others have mc'd) but not told anyone yet; really looking forward to telling her! Great that you've close friends to share it all with :)

CeeCeeEnnEss · 06/07/2016 22:25

Aww haz that's lovely! One of my work friends is about 4 months ahead of me but it's still nice, can't wait to tell her we'll be mat leave buddies all being well.

I'm paranoid this week as I have a lot fewer symptoms. I'm 9 weeks according to my early scan, is that normal?

Scarydinosaurs · 06/07/2016 22:34

Haz that's so lovely!

Cee your symptoms may be tailing off now- you might be one of those lovely lucky ones that only has mild morning sickness, and now you get into the second trimester you'll get this lovely rush of energy and realise now how tired you were before!

Ever- I have no idea about half the codes most of the time and try and decode it from the context! I've never heard of that second one!

Gum- your dad!! I can only guess he didn't hear you??

Gin- that's so nice you have a friend to go through it all with you! It's so nice to have a bit of RL company for when things get tough!

Hazandduck · 06/07/2016 22:43

Ah thanks everyone it is amazing. It does scare me that miscarriage can happen to either me or my friend but we can at least support one another and tell each other every little worry. I'm so happy for her. ceecee I think they say symptoms can drop off at 8-9 weeks, some people have no symptoms really and have completely healthy pregnancies. And sometimes symptoms come and go! Enjoy it haha. My poor friend was decidedly green over dinner. She kept asking me "do you feel kind of hollow after you eat anything" and other random questions and I said yes to everything and she just looked more and more shocked as she has been experiencing it all bless her! I had heard people go off chocolate which is my life but I am craving it! Thank the Lord! X

GinandJazzHands · 06/07/2016 22:47

ceecee yes don't worry a lot of women notice their symptoms get a lot better from 9 weeks or so apparently. Here's to getting that healthy glow. I've been told I look knackered, sad, and under the weather this week by three different people; ho hum!

Itslittlek · 07/07/2016 06:55

When I was around 9 weeks I thought that symptoms he gone and I've just had a few of the worst days bite me back after thinking the worst was over! I think your body just keeps changing, gets used to the hormones and then more come and it can't cope again! I wouldn't worry xx

Evergreen17 · 07/07/2016 07:24

Ceecee I am 8 + 1 and this week I started going off food
Sad

OH bought my favourite fish but I can't stomach it Sad and I had banana cake and bread with philadelphia

Sad

But until now I just had the sore boobs and the exhaustion.

Everyone is different. 4 weeks for my scan!!!!

I am hoping symptoms start to fade and I get more energy as I approach the second trimester
