Feeling like im needing to vent girls before i kick some co workers in the face.

Dinner time comes around and they all ask whether were going to find out what we are having at our scan next week.. So i said yes we both want to know so we can buy things for the nursery etc..
'why do you want to find out it'l spoil the surprise' .. if i had a girl id be devastated'
I just lost it and said youve just fuckin (sorry for swearing) asked if we wanted to find out and because ive said yes you have a problem with it. You get what your given.. to which the same one who said shed be devastated if she had a girl said 'well why does it matter what your having then why do you need to find out' to which i replied 'your so f*kin ungrateful theres people who cant have kids or who struggle to conceive and your there moaning that if you had a girl youd be devastated, its up to us whether we not we want to find out not you, and FYI you all wont be finding out what were having anyway' and stormed off.

Am i being unreasonable that i just blew my top off - i think a part of me thinks yes but then again i hate it when people ask you something and if its something tehy dont agree with they belittle your opinion.

And breathe..

Apart from that v happy about everyone elses' scan glad everything is ok!! :)

Minispringroll · 25/07/2016 16:58

Had my scan this afternoon and we are joining team blue. Grin It was bloody obvious, too. Name is most likely going to be Joshua (would have been Lena, if it had been a girl).
All healthy and ok so far, which is great, but he kept getting into the most annoying positions and the sonographer found it quite difficult at times to get decent pictures. Got there in the end.

I've felt movement for a few weeks now, although he stayed very quiet when it was warmer last week and I was beginning to get a little worried.

IslandLife · 25/07/2016 17:03

Fuck 'em!! Idiots! My MIL did the same when I told her we were finding out the sex. I think all her other grandchildren had been surprises. I considered leaving it to be a surprise but I literally couldn't wait that long to find out. Now all I can think about is buying girly clothes and nursery stuff, I'm so excited and fed up arguing with DP over names Hmm

cnchapmanxx · 25/07/2016 17:11

haha islandlife that made me laugh haha totallly agree! i understand why people want it as a surprise its just not for everyone! Eek im the absolute same.. its so nice to say Baby boy or Baby Girl instead of it! :D

minispringroll congrats lovely!! how did you know did you have any instincts it was a boy?

Minispringroll · 25/07/2016 17:23

cnchap It was obvious to see on the screen before the sonographer even asked whether we wanted to find out. Grin

I know some other people don't want to find out. However, that's their personal choice...and I'm making mine. I gave DH the choice, but he also wanted to know. It's rude to try and make someone else feel guilty about what they have chosen.

Bella1985 · 25/07/2016 18:28

cnchapman you're not unreasonable, that was a pretty silly thing for them to say. I've noticed similar patterns with many baby topics at work- are you giving the baby a common name? If you say yes, someone disagrees and says its much better to be unique, if you say no, they say it would be awful to have a name people can't pronounce/stands out blah blah... ! It's your choice, I guess we have to accept that they feel the need to give their two pennies worth and then we can just ignore them!! Smile

SouthDownsSunshine · 25/07/2016 18:38

Chapman I've found work colleagues to be idiots generally - they should say nothing. I've had 'can I call you fatty now/Oooh I'm slimmer than you now...' plus lots of comparisons with their wives pregnancies.

We had our harmony test and an extra scan this afternoon. And we found out we're team pink! So 2 daughters for us :)

NotAClue82 · 25/07/2016 19:21

Yikes those colleagues sound a bit horrible!

Hope the Harmony went well South, is it a long wait for the results?

Thisisbonkers · 25/07/2016 19:29

chapman I'm this Close to losing it with one of my colleagues. She has An Opinion on everything I do now. I don't know how anyone manages to have a baby without her guidance. And if she says "babba" one more time... AngryAngry FFS, she was even trying to tell me what milk I should be having in my tea this morning! I just want milk that doesn't have lumps in it love, other colleague was only letting me know the skimmed smelt ok whilst the semi didn't (he's seen my non-pregnant gag reaction to off milk... Grin)

Thisisbonkers · 25/07/2016 19:30

I hope all went as well as possible with the harmony scan south 🙅

Thisisbonkers · 25/07/2016 19:30

(That's a hug btw!)

nojo82 im having vivid dreams too this mornings was awful I dreamt I had the baby but she was really tiny and when she was born I was saying she's really tiny and they wouldn't give her any oxygen so I gave her mouth to mouth!! Talk about an anxiety dream or what!!

cnchapmanxx · 25/07/2016 20:42

mini totally agree .. I would never say to someone oh why are you not finding out? It's not up to them! But I literally was so angry haha!

bella thankyou lovely that cheered me right up! Excatly what my husband said.. Said it's people putting there 2 pence worth in and not actually thinking about what they've said! I darent even mention names so I'm not going too!

southdownsunshine that is a horrible thing to say how rude Angry I swear some people do not engage there brains before there mouths! Ah yes my wife did this, I did that.. PArenting is a learning curve it's up to you what you do! Yay so happy for you how lovely for you other DD for a sister to bond with!

thisisbonkers oh Jesus I thought the snide comments I had was bad but yours seem worse! How Patronising I don't know how you haven't had a few choice words! Sometimes I think just because you have had a child doesn't mean your Albert Einstein of Parenting! Glad it's not just me who's wanting to kick a few teeth hahah!!

Xxx

Thisisbonkers · 25/07/2016 20:50

chapman I've met her child... Nuff said Grin

bumbleclat · 25/07/2016 23:00

I had a dream that I couldn't get into my local town so I rested my stomach on a bag of skittles and rolled all the way in down the main road on said skittles packet!!

barkingtreefrog · 26/07/2016 07:20

I just had a dream where I was watching two friends try to row a kayak through the sky in my back garden.
If that doesn't count as a crazy dream I don't know what does!!! Confused

bumbleclat · 26/07/2016 09:29

barking that's hilarious! I wonder why pregnancy gives you such weird dreams?!

duxb · 26/07/2016 12:31

Chapman no wonder you blew your top - somehow pregnancy gives people what they think is a right to give you their opinion on everything and they see nothing wrong with being ridiculously rude.

Second scan to check on heart a week today so just willing that to come.

Hope all are okay X

Nojo82 · 26/07/2016 14:08

My dreams are horrible. Totally fed up with them. I'm waking with a headache every day and extremely exhausted.

Babydreaming · 26/07/2016 19:52

Weirdly I sleep better now I'm pregnant! Before I used to wake every morning around 7am even on weekends...I'm now able to sleep in for hours! my job is super busy though (I've done 75 hours this week - been working all weekend!), so it might just be that I'm more tired? I also get occasional headaches :( I also had them before pregnancy though so not sure they are related!

Lovewatchingrainfall · 26/07/2016 20:33

So I have my scan at 9:30 tomorrow and I am sooo scared. My best friend is coming to look after my toddler while my husband comes with me. I just can't stop the feeling that they will say something is wrong. Plus I keep getting panic attacks when I think I will see the same consultant that diagnosed all the problems with my toddler before she was born. (Plus the maternity hospital is at the top of a steep hill which does not help)
Any advice

SouthDownsSunshine · 26/07/2016 21:02

Hugs love. A fortnight ago I was in your position, and we found out something was seriously wrong with our baby, and we've been through 2 weeks of hell. But in the last 24 hours we've turned a corner and we can see hope, and imagine our daughter as a blessing, with a future. And the care we've received has been fantastic.

So what I'm clumsily trying to say is that even if they do find a problem, you will cope and find a way through it. And you'll get good care.

If you're not happy with seeing the and consultant as before, ask for a different one.

I hope it does go well for you tomorrow x

BristolLFR · 26/07/2016 21:07

Fingers crossed watching. I'm in the same position, but ours is 3.45 so have to wait all day. Was lucky that we were the first appointment for 12 wk scan as I was terrified after having a miscarriage first time round.

Feeling more confident as I've felt kicks, but still worried at what they might find.

Keep us posted tomorrow x

BristolLFR · 26/07/2016 21:09

So glad that you're being looked after southdown, and encouraging that there's a positive light at the end of it for you x
