tipboov my feet went up a size in my first pregnancy and stayed that way ever since!! Hope they don't increase more of they will be massive

Chookchick · 21/07/2016 11:00

tipboov my Gran's feet went up to a size ten in her first pregnancy and she always warned me the same might happen to me must be why I've put off having babies I'm already a large size 8 :( Thankfully no sudden sprouting here yet...

weechops · 21/07/2016 11:58

tipboov my feet got bigger when I was pregnant with baby #2 and have stayed a size bigger ever since. One pregnancy symptom no one tells you about 😂

TipBoov · 21/07/2016 13:10

Oh no! I was hoping the foot increase was temporary! What will I do with all my lovely shoes Blush

Grapefruit8 · 21/07/2016 13:31

Lovely bump Bristol you look really well!!

Londonmamabychance · 21/07/2016 14:45

my feet grew half a size in last pregnancy and has stayed that way! hoping they won't grow more this time. However, those of you who have bigger feet now, could just be the heat, my feet were woollen in the crazy heat on Tuesday, but today back to normal.

Re. names, I think people (and the child) end up liking whatever name they get. Unless it's something seriously whacky like Paprika or Chili or Swowy or whatever! My DD is called Nora, a name that's fairly common in my country, and I thought it would work well here as it can also be pronounced in English (and I love it's meaning which is light and honour, and its roots in both Arabic and Latin) but several people have been a bit rude and mentioned it's an old ladies name! At first I got quite hurt, but then decided not to give a toss, I love the name and it suits her and it's international. There will always be someone who doesn't like the name for whatever reason, or some culture or language where it's seen as dated or wrong. A friend of mine called her daughter Viola, and my other friend who's French thought it was awful because 'viole' is raped in French. Can't please everybody!

billabye · 21/07/2016 16:43

Had my scan today. All is well and it's another girl do team pink for us. Grin I was sure it was a boy, but then I was last time! I have an anterior placenta, which I suspected as I've felt very little movement Sad

bumbleclat · 21/07/2016 16:43

I just went to lie down at 2pm and have only just woken up!
Hoping I haven't got GD Confused as it was after a massive lunch ..

Popskipiekin · 21/07/2016 16:52

London Nora is a lovely name! It does sound slightly older English, but all those names are coming back. DH's grandma was Honor, nn Nora and we'd love to use that somewhere in a name if baby is a girl, but I suspect (scan next Thurs!!! aaaaah so excited) that we will be team blue again. Grin

BristolLFR · 21/07/2016 16:53

I thought my shoes were tight! Assumed it was the heat, but they're no better first thing in the morning.

Am a bridesmaid next Sunday and have the shoes already sorted, might have to take spares for once the photos are done as they're quite uncomfy now!

lilydaisyrose · 21/07/2016 17:52

20w scan today and all measurements, organs etc all fine! Yahoo!

can't remember if i already posted or not, baby doctor and thyroid doctor on monday discovered that my thyroid is borderline again as it was before i started ivf treatment so my medication has been doubled to help sort this out, blood test again in 2 weeks and consultant again in 3 weeks, but at least i'm being closely monitored

BristolLFR · 21/07/2016 19:13

Oh wow, what a fab picture lily, can't wait to see ours next weds!

Even though I've got quite a bump now, I still can't comprehend that something 6 inches crown to rump is inside me, will be fab to see it, the 12w scan feels a lifetime ago now

BristolLFR · 21/07/2016 19:13

It's good that they've caught it going, and as you say, at least you're being monitored closely now

firawla · 21/07/2016 19:28

london Nora is a lovely name! That's our choice for this dd - although might spell it Noora to be more like the arabic spelling (still not decided) . I have a granny called Noreen so I like that its similar to that too, I have heard people say it's an old lady name but I don't care!

lily great scan pic! Good news all is going well!

going I hope the thyroid won't cause too many problems! It's good they caught it

Our 20 week scan is coming up in a week and a bit. Did anyone go to theirs by themself? Dh already came to the 12 week and a private one at 16 weeks to see the gender, so was thinking to go on my own this time as then I can leave the kids with him at home. But I know partners normally come - do you think it will seem like 'not the done thing?'

Azure83 · 21/07/2016 19:58

firawla i don't know if it's different if it's not your first baby but I was very glad DH could get out of work and come with me. Assuming everything goes well and we won't be doing any more private scans, this is the last chance to 'see' the baby before it's born. Feels too special to miss!

Newbie199 · 21/07/2016 20:05

Hello!
I am quite new to pregnancy and mumsnet. Got my first scan done and everything looks good, but been getting these headaches quite often. Any of you having any headaches? Any suggestions?

Nojo82 · 21/07/2016 20:13

My 20 week scan seems like a lifetime away. Not until 9th Aug. Getting impatient.

IslandLife · 21/07/2016 20:28

Newbie - I had headaches every day for a few weeks in my 1st trimester...I tried to drink lots of water and took the odd paracetamol, and it's a good excuse to nap Smile

Got my scan tomorrow morning! Can't wait to find out whether baby is pink or blue Grin

nightcap · 21/07/2016 20:29

Hi newbie - I've had the headaches too, usually not severe but nearly every day. No useful advice really, I think mine weren't helped by dehydration so lots of water is probably a good idea. I took paracetamol if it got too bad but tried to save that for when I really needed it. Getting less of them now (19 weeks) so hopefully they reduce or stop for you soon...

nightcap · 21/07/2016 20:31

Also I had the odd cup of tea, just in case they were partly down to lack of caffeine! Not really sure if it helped though.

goinggrey1978 · 21/07/2016 20:41

thanks everyone, its no wonder i've been tired and sleeping up to 12 hours a night and having a nap for up to 2 hours once i get back from work as well!! just glad its the last day of term tomorrow!!

TipBoov · 21/07/2016 20:46

nojo me too! Mine is next Friday, I'll be 21+3, but it was the only time they could book both scan and consultant appt for the same day.

I'm still feeling really tired - is anyone else the same? I napped for two hours this morning and sill felt groggy all day.

I had a birth debrief with the supervisor of midwives last week, to go over the birth I had with DS1. Everything turned out OK, but I was in labour for 26+ hours and a few things happened that I didn't really understand, so it was good to go through the notes and have things explained. I'm considering a home birth this time, or a hospital birth but with as little intervention as possible as I think having constant monitoring last time was counterproductive.

SouthDownsSunshine · 21/07/2016 20:56

firwala from my experience at 20 week scan, I'd recommend taking dh.

Lovewatchingrainfall · 21/07/2016 21:06

Firawla my husband has not come to any of my scans but with 100% at the 20w scan. You might need him there if they tell you something is wrong and for support.
