Oh and grapefruit I'd pronounce it an nay us if I'd just read it. But like the French pronunciation better. Maybe? I like them both actually! Gorgeous girls name x

peanutbutter2409 · 18/07/2016 07:44

Chicken pox! Morning all - my colleague's son has come down with chicken pox. I had it as a child but is there any risk to me or my bump? Should I get a blood test or something?

Bella1985 · 18/07/2016 08:13

peanutbutter you're fine if you've already had it as a child, it's pregnant women than haven't had it before that are at risk. I just double checked on the nhs website before giving poor advice, and they say the same. this is the link: www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/2591.aspx?CategoryID=54 Smile

SouthDownsSunshine · 18/07/2016 08:35

Thanks all for the support.

You can ask the midwives to run a test for you re. Chicken pox. I had to do this a month ago as I came into contact and my mum couldn't remember if I had it. They just ran a test and within 24 hours we had confirmation that I was already immune.

ElodieS · 18/07/2016 08:49

Southdowns, I'm so sorry to hear your news, it's frightening being told anything like that. As many have said, never worry about updating here if you want to, you'll find lots of support, but equally don't feel pushed into doing so if you'd rather not. Either way, do take good care and look after yourself, I hope you get lots of love and support as well as the excellent medical care.

We've got French-ish names for both DTs and looking for another for this LO. Anais is definitely French, but I'd pronounce it A-nay-s, personally. I really like it actually! We've got a Leonore (usually Leo) and an Anouk so far and really struggling if this one is a girl too. We're probably decided on Matheo (Theo) for a boy but I really like Luca too.

Hope everyone had fun sunshine-y weekends - we went to the seaside on Saturday and I got the bump/flabby belly out on the beach without a care in the world. I've lost all sense of dignity by now. Smile

SolomanDaisy · 18/07/2016 08:51

I'd pronounce it a-nay, based on the old ad for the perfume!

Grapefruit8 · 18/07/2016 09:34

ElodieS yes I love Luca as well! That's on our list for a boy

Grapefruit8 · 18/07/2016 09:35

And thanks all for your pronounciations, I think it would be A-nay definitely

IslandLife · 18/07/2016 09:49

Good morning ladies...relatively new to MN and due in Dec so this seemed the logical place to start. Hope you don't mind me butting in Smile

Hannahcarp27 · 18/07/2016 09:57

How many of you are yet to feel movement? It's my first so I really have no idea what I'm looking out for. I can't tell if things are just wind or normal tummy feelings. I'm 18 wk 1 today so hoping for some movement soon!!

IslandLife · 18/07/2016 10:12

Hannah I'm 19 weeks today with my first and haven't felt anything yet! I had a couple of worry days, but from what I've read I think it's normal. I've got my scan on Friday and I'm literally counting down the hours!

ElectraJane84 · 18/07/2016 10:45

hannah and island I'm 20 weeks today scan Friday too and I've not felt a THING! They did mention anterior placenta at gender scan but will ask more Friday! It's a bit rubbish but have friends who've been the same, usually you just feel them a little later on, but one of my friends says she only felt her little girl about 5 times in her whole pregnancy!

HannahJH · 18/07/2016 11:10

Hannah and Electra your posts are music to my ears (eyes?!?) !! I have my 20 week scan a week today and I'm not sure if I have felt anything!! At around 16 weeks, and on and off since then, I thought I might have felt vibrations/slight movements but they are so rare that they could just be normal stomach movements that I am just willing to be baby!! I am 19 +1 today and starting to feel nervey that I should feel more!!!

It feels like EVERYONE can feel movements except me!! xx

stripeyorangesocks71 · 18/07/2016 12:12

I'm the same with not feeling anything significant. (18w1d). Last week I had lots of fluttering and feelings of being tickled from the inside, and a feeling of my whole stomach/tummy area churning but nothing really like kicks or anything from baby. This week there seems to be nothing so far. Scan in 2 weeks... Cannot wait, wish it was today instead!!

Lovewatchingrainfall · 18/07/2016 12:45

Currently sat on the beach enjoying the sunshine any ideas about how to get comfy. Struggle on my back to breath and can not lay on my front.

HannahJH · 18/07/2016 13:00

Finding it hard to feel sorry for you rainfall considering you are sat on the beach and I am sat in my office at work Envy. Maybe prop your head up on a rock so you are half lying/half sitting?!

So glad its not just me, must be normal if it's happened to all of us musnt it! xx

ElodieS · 18/07/2016 13:02

Welcome Island!

I've felt a few movements so far (19 weeks) but nothing significant and certainly nothing that clearly feels like a kick, I think you do usually feel them sooner second time 'round so try not to let it worry you.

rainfall, we were at the seaside on Saturday and the best way I could find was on my side with my arm bent to rest my head in my hand. I did get an achy wrist after a while but it worked for a bit. Even better would be a reclined sun bed I imagine! Enjoy!

Lovewatchingrainfall · 18/07/2016 13:25

Thank you Elodie I will try that.

Sorry Hannah I do feel sorry for you being stuck in the office. I did feel that as the British weather brought sunshine I should enjoy however it is hotter then I thought so I think I am moaning more.

I have felt a few movements but nothing much and I'm 19w tomorrow

barkingtreefrog · 18/07/2016 13:26

Hannah 19+3 and no movements here either. A couple of times I've had a fluttery feeling and thought is that it? But nothing definite or regular.
Had my 20w scan this morning and the consultant is going to see me again in two weeks and give me another scan if I'm still having no movement. I think this was more to reassure me than anything.

IslandLife · 18/07/2016 13:34

I have a (probably stupid) question about midwife appointments....I've just checked my calendar thingy that I got at my 1st appointment and between now and EDD I have to see the midwife 10 times, most I book through GP with a community midwife for ante-natal assessments and 2 are with a hospital midwife. I thought I always saw the same midwife?? Obviously this is my 1st, and I don't really feel like I've been given much info other than this calendar and being told to make sure I make my appointments. Sorry if I'm sounding a bit stupid!

SouthDownsSunshine · 18/07/2016 14:46

island it differs by area and what your needs are. IME, I book midwife appointments myself. With dd, I would book the next appointment at/immediately following each appointment.

I'm really struggling emotionally today. I tried really hard to work to distract, but just ended up in lots of tears. I've had to make various phonecalls to midwives, clinical cardiac nurse, which eats into my work focus.

I've finally got harmony booked for next Monday. It's a bit bonkers that in my situation I can have an amnio for free on the NHS, but I have to pay for the non-invasive harmony test.

LittleBear01 · 18/07/2016 14:49

Hi all,

Anyone else here from Essex? We've got a separate antenatal thread, and one of the posters has set up a Facebook group. Let me know if you'd like to join please Smile

TinySalmon · 18/07/2016 15:41

watchingtainfall is it a sand or pebble beach? If sand, dig a hole so you can plonk your belly inside when lying on your tummy.

If you're on a sun-lounger I found I could roll up towels and make a hole for my belly when lying face down. When lying face up I needed to prop myself up to half-sitting half-lying. I did this when I was in Spain.

south I can't imagine what it must be like for you Flowers I'm so sorry you're feeling upset. Agree that's a bit ridiculous the NHS can't help you out with a Harmony test given its shown there are problems with baby's heart and threat of Down's Syndrome Hmm

BristolLFR · 18/07/2016 16:26

I'm pretty sure I just felt it for the first time just now!

Do you ever get that feeling when you're lying somewhere really hot and a nerve will do a quick pulse, just as a one off? It felt kind of like that, but 3 in the space of 2 minutes on the front wall of my stomach. Wierd but awesome!

Thisisbonkers · 18/07/2016 17:44

Oh south Flowers I'm sorry you're going through that.

Welcome island Smile

I'm 20+1 and no movement yet! Anterior placenta here Angry

Anyone else struggling in today's heat? So glad I'm not having a summer baby!
