Thanks tinysalmon, she is definitely ready for big school Grin

19+1 here too barkingtreefrog, my bump is steadily growing but also becoming a lot firmer & when I lay down sometimes I can make out what side she is on from the shape of my stomach. I'm still amazed we're growing little people 😄

Grapefruit8 · 16/07/2016 22:13

I know this is going to sound completely ridiculous but is anyone else stressing out over names?! I know we are all roughly half way so plenty of thinking time left but I am genuinely concerned that DP and I won't be able to agree on a name. Nothing he suggests for either boy or girl seems to strike me, I just don't feel like we will ever find the right name. Please tell me this is just standard crazy hormones?!

Bella1985 · 16/07/2016 22:44

I'm not going to be much comfort grapefruit as I'm a first timer and am worried about the same thing too! I'm trying to chill out about it and hope we find something we like but so far my fave names are a big no-no for DH and his options are so hideous I'm not sure if he's joking or not! Confused

lilydaisyrose · 17/07/2016 00:17

Please try not to worry ladies. We were team green with both of ours and didn't choose a name until after birth for both, didn't even have a shortlist.

19+1 here too (well 19+2 now I guess!) - relaxing today with kids away for the weekend and after my whooping cough jab yesterday - made me feel a bit weird and a bit hot and sweaty but equally, it might all have been in my head!!

20w scan on Thursday, can't come quick enough. I am so keen to have the all clear on all the potential anomalies (fingers crossed). I have only told close family and work and a couple of friends so far - here's so many people who don't know yet - so will spread the news far and wide on Friday after the scan hopefully.

Aww, Bigfam, your daughter looks so cute and proud!

We had our 20 week scan yesterday, have to go back next week as the baby was in an awkward position and she couldn't see the stomach or get the measurements she needed of the heart. On the scan report it says stomach not visible but then later that small stomach bubble was seen- to check at next scan. Hopefully it was just the positioning but I have been googling about what could cause a small stomach bubble and getting really anxious.

Bigfam · 17/07/2016 06:58

Thanks zazie7 😊 try to stay away from Google, it will only make you feel more anxious and concentrate on the fact you'll get to see baby again at your next scan!

We are pretty much set on her name but it definitely would have been harder if we were expecting a boy. Have you tried any baby name books?

Azure83 · 17/07/2016 08:11

We are team blue and have a shortlist of names with one clear favourite. We both have phases of really liking that name and going off it a bit though. It's quite rare (a name though, not something random) which we like but it's a serious adult name, I'm worried it won't work well for a baby and nicknames/shortenings aren't great.

Scan on Wednesday! I've not felt much movement yet so can't wait to see him again!

Grapefruit8 · 17/07/2016 08:33

Ahh azure don't make me jealous, I would love to find a quite rare name. Everything I hear im just not keen on, feel as though ive heard it 100 times before. Want something different with the ability to be shortened. Middle names chosen as they are family names but that's about it!

TipBoov · 17/07/2016 08:36

Big kicks this morning, managed to grab DH's hand in time so he could feel one Grin

I think we've decided on a boy's name but it could be given a nickname which I don't like, so we'll see!

sueevone · 17/07/2016 08:47

Hi ladies
OH in a moment of lapsed judgement agreed that I can pick a first name and him second so I've held him to it! But we've pretty much picked one we both like as were team blue so hopefully it sticks.
Is anyone else getting pain in their hips in the night? I find it hurts more if I find myself asleep on my right side, I've built a pillow fort around me so that's helping :)
Also very sad to see my belly button disappearing, it's halfway gone already. But 18 weeks today so 2 weeks tomorrow to our 20 week scan.

SouthDownsSunshine · 17/07/2016 09:55

Try not to worry zazie, if they were worried they would have rescanned the same day, just sent you off for a sugary drink and jump about to encourage baby to move!

becciandbump · 17/07/2016 10:08

Has anyone else decided on car seats? Was thinking maxicosi but then both mothercare and fenwicks were really trying to sell the BeSafe saying it had better safety and better head support its a bit more expensive than maxicosi x

weechops · 17/07/2016 11:35

Hi all sorry I haven't been on much lately. Congrats on all the lovely scan pics!
I'm actually feeling quite down at the moment. I don't know if it's just because dh is away until September, and I have no emotional support really, but all the small things seem to be building up and getting me down. Sigh. Hopefully I'll snap out of it soon!
Just over 3 weeks til my 20 week scan. Yay.

Bigfam · 17/07/2016 11:41

weechops hi. I know it's not the same but you can always come here for support from us 😊 at least you have your scan to look forward to x

puppythedog · 17/07/2016 12:32

Hi all :-)
We're not worrying about a name but partly because we have a tactic. Do not tell anyone what your shortlist or name is. People will cheerfully criticise your names when not already applied to a baby and will not one the baby is called that.
We like names that can be gender neutral and have a variety of diminutives :-)

SouthDownsSunshine · 17/07/2016 12:55

Like Alexander puppy?!

Sorry to hear you're feeling down weechops. Don't hesitate in asking for help xx

becciandbump · 17/07/2016 14:22

weechops I was quite down for about 4 weeks from week 11-15 but it has passed now and im much better I found getting out yoga/swimming to help and did a bit of baby shopping to keep me focused on the positives. I am sure yours will pass too but maybe worth telling ur midwife she must see this all the time and can prob help xx

weechops · 17/07/2016 15:09

Aw thanks guys. Im usually such an upbeat person so this is draining me Smile
All 3 chops are playing lovely just now so I'm browsing cute baby clothes for the first time this pregnancy!! Staying firmly team yellow this time round Smile

bumbleclat · 17/07/2016 15:35

weechops
I too was really down from week 6-17!
When the nausea shifted and I had some time off I felt a bit better and have stayed that way. If you can, be very assertive about taking time for yourself.

I've got my 20 wk scan on 5th August it can't come soon enough, I'm desperate to know the sex/if everything's okay.

It's been a MASSIVE relief not feeling permanently sick, it's still a bit bad but nowhere near where it was.

So excited about the girls name we've chosen- still really confused about boys names :)

barkingtreefrog · 17/07/2016 16:29

Dh didn't like my first choice name, but I've gone off it now as it's too close to my grandma's name and she doesn't like her name so wouldn't be pleased anyway!!
We have a favourite at the moment and I also have a long shortlist. Our favourite is a name that's commonly pronounced two different ways though. There doesn't seem to be a 'correct' way. Would it annoy you, if you had a name that people would constantly potentially pronounce wrong?

We also have two 'joke' names that we keep referring to her as.

I think discussing names is the closest we've got to daring to believe that there will actually be a fourth time lucky and a baby at the end of this!

Weechops must be so hard doing this on your own until September, have you got support around you?

If I've got pregnancy related hip pain, do I speak to my doctor or my midwife? Confused as to who I should try to make an appointment with tomorrow

Thanks

Bigfam · 17/07/2016 16:48

barkingtreefrog bless you, just think you're nearly have way there! 😊
're pronouncing names wrong, my dd3's name Josie is pronounced jo-see apparently nearly everyone I come across thinks it's jo-zee even after I've said it slowly and clearly fil does it. Drives me nuts 😠 the baby's chosen name shouldn't be a problem though!

Bigfam · 17/07/2016 16:49

*half ....gah sometimes I hate auto correct

Thisisbonkers · 17/07/2016 16:51

We're stuck on names. Girls slightly better, but if it's a boy then he won't have a name til he starts school at this rate!

For hip pain id see doctor.

I've spent too long in the sun today. Got a blinding headache now and I'm out for dinner with friends later. Hoping some paracetamol will take the edge off.
