I've just phoned the Dr surgery, and I have to see the GP to be referred to the midwife.
He is in for a shock, only last week he referred us for investigative testing as it was taking me/us a while to get pregnant!

I'm a bit confused with how pregnant I am, can anyone help please (it's my first, so this is all very new).
My first day of the last period was 12th June, so I think I am 4+1?

Also, I'd become become lax with the TTC vitamins, is there anything I should be taking now?

LakeOfDreams · 11/07/2016 13:33

www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/due-date-calculator.aspx

About 4 weeks I think would make you due 19th March but they will confirm this at your 12 week scan sometimes dates move a bit

I was seen by the GP this morning. Although have to call the midwife myself so all seemed a bit pointless!!

Sparrowlegs248 · 11/07/2016 13:59

It's just folic acid that's a necessity at this stage. I take folic acid plus vit D as I'm still bf and you need vit d after 12 weeks anyway.

NameChange30 · 11/07/2016 14:13

Alaskan Yes that's right you are 4+1 according to the standard calculation, which assumes your menstrual cycle is 28 days and you ovulated on day 14. However, if you have been tracking your cycles and know that they are longer or shorter than 28 days, you could calculate it more accurately. If you were tracking ovulation and know when you ovulated you could count even more accurately. But as Lake said it will be adjusted at your 12 week scan anyway.

FXSkip · 11/07/2016 16:49

Hi guys, I've been lurking here for a while as I'm a bit in limbo really! Here's my deal, if anyone feels like helping me get my head around this! LMP was 18th May, BFP 30th June, 3 +ves with a CBD saying 3+ weeks. Prior cycles ranged from 28-39 (making average 32 days). So I went for an early scan on 10th July, thinking I was 7 weeks, and they saw a sac that was consistent with 5 week pg, not 7. So, by LMP I am 7 weeks, but if I conceived on 5th June then its 5 weeks - is that right??

NameChange30 · 11/07/2016 17:36

Hi FXSkip. Hmm that's confusing. Did they give any possible explanation at the scan? And do you have another scan booked in sometime soon?

Jjspoon · 11/07/2016 18:19

fxskip if you're 5 weeks then I think you conceived more like on 19th June? If they know conception date then they add 2 weeks to that so if you conceived 5th June you decide be 7 weeks? So 19th June sounds more likely :). Like namechange said did they book you in again?

I conceived around 15th June so am 5weeks+5

FXSkip · 11/07/2016 19:38

Thanks, I just didn't think it would have been possible to ovulate nearly 5 weeks into my cycle!!! Bodies are weird, I've got a scan in 2 weeks so I'll find out if it's progressing then Confused this is 100x worse than TTC!

ClearlyOpaque · 11/07/2016 19:48

Hi everyone! I got my BFP last Thursday, but it's taken me until now to read through this thread! You're a chatty bunch, I like it!

I think I'm the oldest here, I'll be 41 in a couple of weeks. I never thought I wanted children, so I'm a bit amazed that I've got a 13 month old and another one (hopefully) on the way!

Is anyone else finding it really hard not to get all carried away? Keep having to remind myself that it's early days. We're both so excited and thrilled, it's taken us a good 6 months to conceive, which was a shock after I fell in the first month with our son. We've got to find a house to buy (we're in a temporary rented placed at the mo) and husband needs to find a job, as he's a stay at home dad. Time for him to get back out there and earn the cash while I take some time out!

One poster asked what to wear in this early stage... I've just bought a pair of harem pants, which I think will be my new best friend, even if my husband seems less than impressed with them! A trick which helped me out last time was to use a hair band to lengthen the waist on my jeans. Worked a treat for those early weeks. I'm still in elasticated jeans this time so no need for that!

Jjspoon · 11/07/2016 20:36

fxskip I think it's difficult for them to judge the age before about 6/7 weeks so it could be bit further on than that but I'd think you'll need another scan in another week or so and hopefully they'll be able to tell better then? Is there a reason you had an early scan?

Welcome clearly :). I'm equally swinging between trying not to get too excited as still early days whilst browsing baby things online and feeling really scared and weird that I don't feel pregnant as I have hardly any of the usual/common symptoms. I have some lovely loose linen trousers from next that I'm currently living in as I'm so hot and bloated.

neonrainbow · 11/07/2016 20:51

Welcome new pregnant people :)

MonkeyPoozzled76 · 11/07/2016 21:03

Well I think I may be starting to get a few symptoms over the last few days, shooting pains in the boobs and missed lunch today and ended up feeling quite sick. Terribly moody today too. I got the rage over DH leaving the hoover out again.

Welcome to all the newcomers. clearly, I'm hot on your heels as just knocking on the door of 40 and currently 5 weeks with number one. Any tips on anything age related I might need to know, most of my friends had kids 10 years ago and I'm not looking forward to having the term 'geriatric mother' emblazened all over my notes! I still don't feel like a grown up myself

FXSkip · 11/07/2016 21:36

Thanks jjspoon that's very reassuring. I just went for the scan because it was available to me and l wanted to know what was going on but I'm none the wiser so didn't really work out! I'm going back in 2 weeks unless something happens before then so hoping it's all fine! I guess I've just heard about Mc happening at 5 weeks and then not finding out for ages but I suppose I'll have that worry the entire time anyway!

ItsMagicYouKnow · 11/07/2016 21:41

FXSkip Could it be possible you had one anovulatory cycle and then one normal one? Don't really know how that would work bleeding-wise, but it might explain your dates? I'm 5 weeks tomorrow with an LMP of 7 June, must have conceived around the 21st. BFP 3 July. The only thing that makes me wonder is the CBD saying +3 weeks at that point. Perhaps you just have really high HCG levels? Also, like Jjspoon said, the margin for error is quite large early on, so only the next scan will tell. In fact, during my last pregnancy, I had a scan at 8 weeks (having tracked ov) and was told it was more like 6. 12-week scan got me back on my original dates more or less. Fx it's the same for you!

For those wondering about 1st trimester clothes, last time I wore my regular jeans long into the 2nd trimester with the help of a "belly band" (can't remember what they are actually called, tubes of fabric that bridge the gap between jeans and T-shirt), but then got told off by the MW for wearing tight clothing and polyester pants Blush! I can't wait for the moment I can whip the old maternity jeans out again, I wore them for ages after giving birth last time because they were so comfy!

Lizziedoll · 12/07/2016 05:25

Hi everyone, my name is Lizzie, I'm 29 and expecting my first child in March 2017! I found out I was pregnant on Thursday and although this was planned I had real problems with shock/anxiety this weekend, however these feelings have now mostly subsided and I'm starting to feel really excited! Looking to make friends and go through this journey with other mums to be. Congrats everyone Flowers

ItsMagicYouKnow · 12/07/2016 07:18

Hi Lizzie, congrats!

Don't worry about having mixed feelings to start with (or any point in your pregnancy for that matter), it's completely normal with such a big life shift over the horizon! Don't forget those pesky hormones will be having their effect too! Smile

This is my second, so I had a whole different set of doubts!

Dustycorners · 12/07/2016 07:38

Hi new ladies and congratulations!

I think my nausea arrived yesterday (5+4). I really need to try to resist the beige carbs as I don't want to pile on weight very early like I did last time.

charlybs · 12/07/2016 08:13

Hi everyone!

I took a test yesterday on a total whim (been TTC since March but I kept doing ovulation kits at the wrong time so had no idea!) and it came back positive!

Did another 2 tests after including a clear blue (so I now know my baby's future likes and dislikes haha) and yep, I'm pregnant!

DH can't believe it, I think he's still in shock Shock

ClearlyOpaque · 12/07/2016 08:18

Congrats to the new BFPs!

The roller coaster of anxiety and excitement doesn't even stop when they arrive, I found with my first. I'm trying to go with my emotions a bit more this time, rather than worry that I'm losing my mind, which happened a few times last time!

Monkey - no advice about being an "oldie", other than don't think about it! Some people say the tiredness is harder to deal with "at our age", but I didn't have a baby in my 20's, so I've got no idea if I'd have been more tired or less.... I was lucky in that my NCT group were all in their 30's, so I didn't feel quite so old.

charlybs · 12/07/2016 08:31

Sorry to ask a question after just introducing myself - I can't get an initial Drs appointment to tell them I'm pregnant for a month - 8th August. Is this an issue? I'll be almost 9 weeks by then, and about to go on my 3 week honeymoon to SE Asia, ha!

PrincessIrene · 12/07/2016 08:46

Morning everyone. BFP here this morning!! Now in turmoil, we weren't trying and had said we were quite happy with the DCs we have. Confused

NameChange30 · 12/07/2016 09:16

Hello and congrats to the newbies!

charlybs 9 weeks is too late, can you call and ask for an emergency appointment or if you can book directly with the midwife? I was told they usually do the first midwife appointment at 8 weeks and they also need to register you with the hospital to get booked in for a scan - you'll need one pretty much straight after you get back from honeymoon, I reckon!

ChoChang · 12/07/2016 09:18

Morning all. Very very tentatively jumping aboard. BFP this morning and in total shock. After 2x chemical pregnancies then no luck in conceiving for over 2 years, we did our first round of IVF in March this year. This ended up being a missed miscarriage and I had surgery to remove the pregnancy at the beginning of May. We dtd only once in June after my af came back and now I'm sitting here with a bfp. Naturally, after all this time and all that trying, after dtd only once! I have been having some brown spotting since af was due a few days ago but it seems to be stopping now. Feeling massively crampy as though af is going to arrive any minute though so I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much.

charlybs · 12/07/2016 09:27

Thanks @namechange30 that's so helpful!
Smile

Zenzie · 12/07/2016 10:12

ChoChang welcome! I'm in a similar position to you (2+ years ttc and ivf, though no losses - sounds like that must have been tough for you.) If you're after another helpful thread, there's one on the pregnancy board called pregnancy after infertility (or similar). Lots of people who understand show you feel.
