PotatosMum · 01/06/2016 12:38

It's time for another TTC#1 grads thread, with an ever increasing population of new arrivals, old hands and veterans we're moving thick and fast.

The first TTC#1 veterans are waddling their way into the third trimester this thread, with the promise of maternity leave to come, getting them through the day.

No subject is taboo, no TMI is too much, bump pictures, baby scans and photos of cute baby stuff are encouraged.

All are welcome so take your place on team blue, pink or vanilla for another TTC#1 grads thread!

Oh no Potato please make sure you sit down in the 2 hour wait somewhere as I know I react badly to not having eaten and would hate to know you've taken a dizzy spell or something when upright. Take a book.

Indeed it has become an obstacle course. Last night was me learning how to get out of bed and manoeuvre around the cot/ first time on this side of the bed- so that was fun with middle of the night wees.

I know what you mean re heavy was Potato. I think my ligaments are being pulled either side of my bump as its really sore. Like round ligament pain but all the time. Plus in the left hand side of my groin it's really sore.
I've had BH for a while now but sometimes they wake me up. Really uncomfortable aren't they?!
I had the most hideous calf cramp at 5am. DH had to grab my foot and stretch out my calf as I couldn't reach and was wailing. I'm hobbling around now as calf is so sore.

Pregnancy is the weirdest thing ever!!

Sorry Danni but you've got 4 weeks on me so don't worry. Single figures is rather terrifying though. 9+6 eeek!!

leoniethelioness · 05/06/2016 10:58

I don't think they do a diabetes test in my area unless your BMI is 30ish or above...? Not sure if it's maybe different in England.

Pinklily1 · 05/06/2016 12:14

Canters, congratulations on a little boy!! That should even Team Pink and Team Blue out a bit!

You don't get the diabetes test here either unless you have a certain BMI. I'm in NE England. I think it varies quite a lot though. Clearly cost cutting in this region!

For pregnancy books, I've got The Day to Day Pregnancy Guide. It has a page for each day of pregnancy, then sections on labour and caring for baby etc. I really like it as each day I read the page that's relevant. I also bought one called The Bump Class by Marina Fogle, who is married to that Ben Fogle guy from tv. That one is pretty rubbish to be honest and was over £15 so I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

We got a Motorola video baby monitor. Our friends have one and it seems good so we thought we'd go with that.

For baby names, OH and I had told a few people the options fairly early on, and then decided that we were actually going to keep it secret. Just found out he's now told his parents and they have expressed a very firm preference for one, which is also OH's favourite but not mine. I'm a bit annoyed but think it's irrational pregnancy hormones as my parents know the options so I suppose it's only fair to tell his. But we told my parents before deciding to keep it secret Hmm

I've just been told that I'm not allowed to go to two of my spinning classes a week now - instructor said she won't let me go from 28 weeks onwards (so Tuesday) "in the interests of the baby". I'm pretty sure the baby's interests would be better served by me being active Angry I'm not impressed at all. There's still other spin classes I can go to with other instructors, but it's really frustrating.

We've got our hospital tour tomorrow night - I'm a bit scared as I think it will make it more real!

Bunch, we aren't doing reusable nappies but I really need to catch up with you on the muslins etc! I think we only have 5 so far!

BunchOfBobs · 05/06/2016 13:40

So I ran out of prescribed unbranded gaviscon this morning. Forgot to request a repeat on Friday so off I waddle to get some from Morrisons. All good, can get the same stuff for £3.60 rather than the £10 gaviscon charges. Woman then asks if I'm pregnant?! I just look at my bump, look at her and respond "erm very". I mean I look pregnant surely?!

leoniethelioness · 05/06/2016 15:14

Great bump, Bunch! You definitely look pregnant.

I've been looking at changing bags online. I don't know how to choose one! Wah.

Nevlet · 05/06/2016 15:51

Canters congrats on team blue! Rally random but just noticed the Essex thread in antenatal... Umm snap on location! Parents/friends still there I am living in Frinton now. Small world!!

PotatosMum · 05/06/2016 16:22

Lisa the book I'm reading is called First time parent by Lucy Atkins. I would definitely recommend it. It gets straight to the point without all the baby dust crap. It doesn't preach and often acknowledges that while it's giving you advice on what should work in such and such situation, it doesn't mean it will. It also expects you to be a human being who will occasionally wants to throttle your baby (no matter her much you love said baby). It's just really down to earth and reassuringly normal.

Bunch OH has now offered to drop me off at hospital and pick me up after tomorrow Smile (I think his boss is sympathetic as his wife gave birth a couple of weeks ago) I shall be taking a book and parking myself in the waiting room for the two hours.

Ditto with the constant ligament pain and both my groins hurt as if I've pulled a muscle. I've also noticed that after managing to avoid cellulite my whole life in the past couple of weeks I appear to have developed huge amounts of the stuff Sad very irritating!

Fantastic bump photo... I'd say it was a pretty fair bet that everyone can't tell you're upduffed now Wink
I'm quite liking the fact that since wearing jeans everyone seems a lot more confident acknowledging I'm pregnant... While I was wearing dresses I think they were I bit worried I might just have got very fat Confused

Leonie here they are the same with the diabetes tests for BMI 30 and I was under when they checked but as I have a family history of diabetes they have to do the test anyway.

Pink what model Motorola did you get? I'm looking at getting a Motorola one along with the Motorola movement sensor.
It sounds frustrating that you can't go to one spinning class but can go to another. I would assume it's to do with individual insurance but you would think there would be a blanket agreement on it. have no idea how you manage it when I'm out of breath walking around a shop!

Went out and got a few more bits for baby today Grin got the missing baby hats, OH chose a little outfit for Potato, got some BIG pants, some huge nighties for hospital that I don't mind throwing out after if they look like props from a Nightmare on Elm street and I've got a hold-all.
I think I'm just about ready so I'll pack most of it ready and then I'll just have to add things like my book, charger and snacks Smile

Nev I lived in Wivenhoe for just under a year - not too far from Frinton?

You sound so organised, Potato!

Sodasoda · 05/06/2016 16:47

Hi everyone,

Hope you've all had good weekends. I've been in Northumberland for family weekend away. Just arrived back into kings cross in my winter coat, winter boots and jumper and it was like arriving to a holiday destination - it's boiling!!

Got home to find my sleepyhead had been delivered so that's exciting Smile

Everyone is so organised! We're gradually getting more and more bits and have ordered our curtains and blackout blinds for the nursery. Have gone for lots of safari animals to keep it gender neutral.

bunch you look fab and definitely pregnant!

potato I think fitted things definitely flatter bump more like jeans or belted / wrap dressss and tops. When I wear something baggy I just look a bit fat! I also have a lot of ligament pain around my groin and cellulite all over my bum. Delightful.

I'm unsure about forking out on a pricey baby monitor. We live in a 2 bed flat so pretty sure we'll be able to hear baby wherever we are! But it'll be useful for visiting relatives.

Great news on boy canters! And congrats on scan may.

Thanks for all advice on baby books, think I'll definitely be investing!

BunchOfBobs · 05/06/2016 16:48

Glad to hear it Potato! Oh ditto with the cellulite. My thighs and arse oh my!!

Thanks re bump comments. I did laugh when she asked if I was pregnant.

Re books, I've read an as yet unpublished book about taking care of babies, I'm currently reading the mumsnet guide to babies and I've read a variety of pregnancy books. I have a breastfeeding one to read and my current hypnobirthing book.

BunchOfBobs · 05/06/2016 16:50

Oh and the heat is kicking my arse today. I'm wandering round the house with all curtains shut wearing the mustard top in my photo and my knickers. I'm on my third ice lolly and may just go climb in the fridge.

LisaTheSimpson · 05/06/2016 18:15

Thanks Potato, for the book recommendations. I've ordered it onto my Kindle and will get reading Grin

Soda, we have not bought ONE single thing yet, so you are definitely more organised than me! We are making our list this weekend and getting our arses into gear.

Have people sorted out car seats yet? If so, is there anyone whose car doesn't have the fittings for an Isofix? Our car seems to be too old to have the right fittings, so I'm trying to find out what else we can do. It's very confusing!

LisaTheSimpson · 05/06/2016 18:16

Bunch, definitely get in the fridge! Or make a fridge/freezer tent, like this!

Thread #7 - TTC#1 Grads - Third Trimester Special
BunchOfBobs · 05/06/2016 18:41

Lisa that is genius!! I very well may be sleeping in a similar set up. That or drag the fan down from the loft.....

Re car seats you can fit them using the seat belt technique. All car seats have this set up. Isofix is not law so don't be worrying about that. Saves you a lot on not needing the base too.

I'm not talking to "D"H. He's pissed me off one too many times this weekend and I've had enough. Hormones and the heat may have a huge factor to play in my current mood but for now he can get fucked.
Anyone else raging?

PotatosMum · 05/06/2016 18:45

Glad I'm not the only one who is suddenly covered in cellulite and who's groin muscles are giving up. They didn't mention this in any of the pregnancy books I read!

Lisa hope you enjoy the book Smile

OHs car has isofix mine doesn't. You can either get a non-isofix base which is a sort of isofix style thing but attaches using the seatbelt or you can fix the car seat in using only the seatbelt. I haven't really decided what I'm going to do yet. I might try fitting the car seat without a base first and seeing how happy I am with it.

Currently stuffing my face with malteasers just in case my gestational diabetes test comes back positive Confused

Thanks both!

LillianFullStop · 05/06/2016 19:17

congrats on the boy canters!!

Lovely scan may! my 9 week scan also looked like a small potato next to a big potato haha but very reassuring to see a lively heartbeat for sure!

I'm also due for a Glucose Tolerance Test because of family history. NOT looking forward to it at all. Need to book in my whooping couch vaccine to - not looking forward to that either! I hate bloody needles!!

lara quite excited for my 20w scan but am sort of burying my head in the sand that it is an anomaly scan to check for another abnormalities with baby's growth. just being optimistic that all is as it should be and looking forward to getting another glimpse of the little one! But yay to being halfway at 20w!!

Pinklily1 · 05/06/2016 19:52

With the isofix, you can also get the necessary bits added to your car if it doesn't already have them. My OH's parents have done this and it cost about £70. Means they can have an isofix base in the car. Otherwise, just fit the car seat with the seatbelt.

We've been at a BBQ today and I've been on my feet since 2pm. They are killing me now and looking a bit on the fat side Hmm I've also over indulged in burgers and sausages!

Bunch, you definitely look pregnant! Such a neat bump too.

Pinklily1 · 05/06/2016 19:53

Lilian, when is your 20 week scan?

Pinklily1 · 05/06/2016 21:22

Potato, this is the baby monitor we got:

www.mamasandpapas.com/product-motorola-mbp36s-digital-video-baby-monitor-white/8176b0000/type-i/

LillianFullStop · 05/06/2016 21:25

pink mine is this Friday Smile - I think lara has hers on Wednesday!

bunch! that bump is amazing and there is no mistaking you are pregnant how strange of them to ask - I suspect people just don't want to assume even if it is very obvious!

Planeteer · 05/06/2016 21:57

Congrats on team blue canters! Lillian I've got my scan on Friday too. Feeling similarly ostrich like re: it being an anomaly scan. Fingers crossed all is ok for both our beans, and yours too Lara, good luck for weds!

Thanks for househunting dust. Turns out the gin was what I really needed - found what was v nearly the perfect house, both got v overexcited, about to make an offer... Oh wait..in a high risk flooding zone. DH v cautious and not prepared to take the risk. Know he's probably being sensible but can't help being gutted. Hey ho, onwards and upwards.

Thanks for the book recommendation potato, will definitely check that out.

Laurenrl · 05/06/2016 23:18

Sorry been away this weekend and really behind on posts so only skim reading! But leonie* I feel exactly the same it's really getting to me that I still can't feel much at 24 weeks some days it really gets me down, I feel like im missing out on the feeling of being a mother to be and being excited and just getting the stretching pelvic pain instead!!

LillianFullStop · 05/06/2016 23:35

another scan buddy planet! Hope all our scans go well this week Smile. Good luck with the ongoing house hunt - hope you find the right one soon.

pink I hope you get to put your feet up and rest after that BBQ. Had one on Saturday and also overindulge too including ice creams Blush

PotatosMum · 06/06/2016 06:43

pink that's a similar baby monitor to the one I want but the model I want also connects to the internet so that I can access it from my phone... My only concern is that there are a lot of reviews saying the viewer battery life is dreadful Confused

Lillian, Planet, Lara good luck for the 20 w scans.

Planet sorry the house hunting didn't go as well as hoped. Maybe next weekend x

Off for my diabetes test. I'm already famished!!! Sad

I should hear some news about my mortgage and flat sale today. Although I'm not holding my breath as this does seem to be dragging on.
