Thread #7 - TTC#1 Grads - Third Trimester Special

PotatosMum · 01/06/2016 12:38

It's time for another TTC#1 grads thread, with an ever increasing population of new arrivals, old hands and veterans we're moving thick and fast.

The first TTC#1 veterans are waddling their way into the third trimester this thread, with the promise of maternity leave to come, getting them through the day.

No subject is taboo, no TMI is too much, bump pictures, baby scans and photos of cute baby stuff are encouraged.

All are welcome so take your place on team blue, pink or vanilla for another TTC#1 grads thread!

Congrats on the third trimester, Potato!

And whoop whoop for 30 weeks, Bunch! They both feel like such milestones.

Miley, I'm the same! Almost 23 weeks over here and I still feel newly pregnant, like I'm not properly pregnant yet. I see other women walking around with what I think are 'proper' big bumps (compared to me, at least), and I don't feel like I'm one of them. Very weird!

Hope everyone has lovely weekend plans x

LisaTheSimpson · 04/06/2016 09:31

Bunch, I remember you saying you had quite a high bed.

Is the Gulliver more appropriate for high beds?

(Just taking notes as we also have a high bed and I never thought about it until your earlier post)

Pinklily1 · 04/06/2016 09:41

Congratulations on 28 weeks Potato and 30 weeks Bunch! 30 weeks seems kind of scary!

I've not been particularly hot, other than once or twice over the last week. I am in the North East though where it is dull, grey and miserable at the minute Hmm

BunchOfBobs · 04/06/2016 10:15

Lisa I found this blog post which gave me the idea as I couldn't find a bedside crib high enough.

fromheretomaternityeventually.wordpress.com/2012/06/13/how-we-converted-out-cot-into-a-co-sleeper/

The cot is high enough for our bed and if the top setting of the mattress isn't high enough we can just drill another set of holes. It's a complete McGyver job going. Fingers crossed it all goes to plan.

I've got my first lot of terry nappies, wipes and Muslins in the machine pre washing ready for dyeing eek. I have a monochrome addiction for all clothes for Pip but all fluff/nappy related is super colourful.

Mileymoocow · 04/06/2016 10:53

pink I'm not sure what my excuse is Blush Northumberland is hardly a sunny county.

bunch I can't wait to see your little man dressed up! You have some amazing things for him

Planeteer · 04/06/2016 10:56

Sorry for being a bit AWOL. Congrats on the milestones, ladies. Before long these threads are going to be a mix of antenatal and post natal - so exciting!!!

Bunch that haul looks mega! Internet shopping props to you! I'm scouring EBay for a Snuzpod at the moment. Figure a second hand frame and a new mattress (and possibly a Sleepyhead) might be the way forward.

Now, I know we don't do babydust or anything of that ilk, but if I could have some househunting dust, or property unicorns, or a snifter or magic pregnancy friendly gin, that would be great! Another packed day of viewings today, in a different town. Really hoping for a winner....the timescale is getting to me!

Hope you've all got lovely weekends planned.

DrWhy · 04/06/2016 13:01

Hi folks, just popping in to wave a quick hello. After an insane few weeks of shifting furniture about in the house thanks to the floor sanding and getting the garden up and running we are on holiday this week and I've finally pinched DH's data connection to MN.
We are in Crete and people here are much more forward asking about the bump and of course I'm wearing much fewer layers so everyone has been asking how many months, boy or girl and making predictions - I even get given extra bits of food I restaurants for the baby! It's fun actually and starting to make me feel properly pregnant, which I'm quite enjoying. I might actually summon up the effort to start seriously shopping for baby bits when I get back.
I've also discovered that both one of my best friends and my SIL are also pregnant this week. V excited about the best friend, SIL is nice enough but we only see her once or twice a year so doesn't make that much difference - might mean we get less excited visits from the in-laws but that's fine - I'm sure my mum and sister will more than make up for it.
On the home front the good news is that I might have a buyer for my flat, way under asking price but better than no buyer - bad news is next set of redundancies have been announced and I'll be competing for my job again at at months pregnant - DH also competing for his job, grim.
I hope all is going well for folks, everyone is blooming and shopping!

mayago · 04/06/2016 17:00

Yikes Dr. Hope everything goes well with the job and house situation!

Congratulations on the milestones Potato and Bunch

9 week foetuses look a bit like aliens; or at least mine does! Can't wait until the next scan when s/he will look a little more human Smile

Planet will some house elf toenail clippings do? They must be lucky Confused how did the house hunt go?

Dr glad you're enjoying the holiday. Good news on the flat buyer. Sucky that you and OH are at risk at work though Sad I shall keep my fingers crossed for you.

May glad the scan went well. He looks like he's just starting to turn people shape Smile

PotatosMum · 04/06/2016 20:00

Oops! Posted too soon.

OH and I were running around half the day looking for five very specific things then we were going to go food shopping... We found none of these things so nipped into the pub to recover with a cold drink which resulted in us deciding sod the shopping, buying a massive share platter and several beers for OH, which in turn resulted in us coming home and napping the afternoon away.
I feel we may have failed at today and now I have a headache as punishment for being a lazy bum Confused

Pinklily1 · 04/06/2016 20:22

Lovely scan picture May.

Sorry to hear about the possible redundancies Dr. Fingers crossed for your both. Hope you also have a wonderful holiday.

A word of warning - when you are desperate for a treat, don't buy Ben and Jerry's new scrumpulicious caramel ice cream with a caramel core. It's god awful. Now I have to sit and eat blueberries whilst OH has beer and cookies Hmm

Feefeefs · 04/06/2016 20:30

No blankets for me either bunch ! Fan on all night too, has been 20 + for about a week here in Glasgow people don't know what to do with themselves.

No terrified DH here he had about 3 weeks of it at the start but now happy. I've been the terrified one now for the past week!

Also DH is convinced that I've got the " pregnancy glow" now!! Ha ha I'm not convinced! Must just be the new foundation.

Small glass is fine nev.

Sorry about your mum potatoes hope things go well for her.

Enjoy your holiday indi!

BunchOfBobs · 04/06/2016 21:51

Thanks Miley I fear I may have got a bit carried away though.

Planet I'm sending you all the dust you're wishing for.

Hi Dr hope you're having a lovely time. Sorry to hear about the redundancies, the industry sucks. I hope you and DH are safe.

Lovely scan May.

The cot is up but needs some tweaking. We need to raise it and fill the gap between the mattress and edge of cot where we've pushed the two together. So it won't be finished until next week.

I've been dying my terries and Muslins today, so chuffed with how it's turning out Smile

I hope everyone has had a nice Saturday.

shelbTa · 05/06/2016 05:45

Morning,

That's right, 5.45 and im awake! Anyone else having freakishly vivid dreams?

Lovely scan may.

Pink - were you being serious about the ice cream or it was it amazing??

Bunch - your dyed yellow towels are ace!

X

leoniethelioness · 05/06/2016 07:34

shelb - That's far too early for a Sunday!

Pinklily1 · 05/06/2016 07:51

Morning ladies

I've been awake since 6am. I can't seem to lie in these days. I suppose it's good preparation for when baby comes.

We bought a baby monitor and a chair for nursing yesterday, so a bit more progress.

bunch, how many muslins etc do you have?! There seems to be loads! The dyed yellow stuff looks great.

Shelb, I was serious. The ice cream was awful. Really sickly and the 'core' was gritty and cinnamon flavoured. I hate cinnamon Angry I wasn't happy last night!

leoniethelioness · 05/06/2016 08:12

That's exciting, pink. Which monitor did you buy?

Woken up feeling a bit fed up at not feeling movement yet. It's still only occasional and like gas bubbles at close to 24 weeks.

BunchOfBobs · 05/06/2016 08:16

Thanks Shelb. I've got my blue stuff done now too and today is orange and green Grin

Pink ALOT! I have 13 swaddle sized (120x120cm) and then 23 good quality 70x70cm sized for first few nappies and then go on to normal use and 6 naff quality which will be used to wipe up sick etc as aren't absorbent enough to use as nappies. Mine are a mix of Cuski, Aden and Anais, Muslinz and Faye and Lou.

Shame about the ice cream. I'm not keen on any of the core ones atall. The B&J peanut butter cup one (not a core one) is EPIC!

PotatosMum · 05/06/2016 09:00

Morning ladies, how are you all today?

Pink i really want ice cream now... I shall avoid the caramel one though. Why did they have to ruin it?! Sad

Which baby monitor did you get? I'm planning to get one of the sound and video ones and I think I've decided which but it's so complicated!

Bunch I can't believe how organised you are, putting the cot up already! Shock I'm not going to even be able to start preparing Potatoes stuff and putting furniture together until we move.

Shelb yep to the vivid dreams. They're every night now Confused

Finally got back into reading my baby book last night, it's a first time parent one and I really like it as it isn't preachy and is realistic.
Last nights chapters were on sleep routines, feeding and the many reasons that your baby will cry at you for hours for no reason... Apparently the latter is very normal and anyone who says it isn't is lying. Confused

Diabetes test tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to it. Has anyone already had it? What should I expect?

Canters15 · 05/06/2016 09:11

Didnt get to pop on yesterday but had my scan.....I'm having a baby boy!! Exactly what i thought! It's funny because I always imagined myself as a mother to girls but starting to feel very excited about the future. The scan was great, we even got a bit of 4D, will definitely go back for a proper 4D later in the pregnancy.

BunchOfBobs · 05/06/2016 09:23

Woohoo Canters welcome to team blue!!

Potato I had it really early due to a spike of sugar in my urine. Expect to be hungry, and the drink is vile, really thick and sweet. It's two hours between the tests and I was told specifically to rest in this period. Don't be walking home from the Drs as you will feel like crap having not eaten yet and I know yours is a mission of a walk is it not? What time is your test? I managed to get my first for 8.15 so I was only not eating until 10.30 ish.

I've got 3 cots up now it's mental. The one in the nursery he won't need properly until Feb, but it's a good place to put him when I'm getting his clothes out in the morning. The bedside cot went up last night and the crib in the living room is up. All in an effort to get us and the dog used to it. Our high chair is from 6 months use and we've had up it in the kitchen for 8 weeks already. DH has finally stopped stubbing his toe on it so I think that was a good reason to have it up so early.

I've got my baby monitor too. The Angel care sound and movement. I didn't want the video as I know I'll stare at it constantly.

Feefeefs · 05/06/2016 09:38

Congratulations canters!!

I really need to get a baby book which one do people recommend?

Danni89 · 05/06/2016 09:50

Welcome to team blue canters!

bunch your organisation is giving me major anxiety... But I guess your are in a single number countdown. Need to get my arse in gear... We did order the nursery set the other day though Grin

PotatosMum · 05/06/2016 10:00

Canters congrats on team blue!!! Grin

Bunch that diabetes test sounds annoying. Mine is first thing in the morning but going home for 2 hours won't be an option as I'm having it done at the hospital, I'll have to drive and it can easily take an hour to get into the car park on Monday morning Sad
There is a costa at the hospital though so as soon as the test is done I can get something to eat. Smile

Sounds like your house has already turned into a baby obstacle course!

Need to get dressed and go do stuff but these days even that feels like a massive effort. I feel so bloody heavy, my back hurts and the muscles on the inside of my legs feel as if they've been pulled.
Oh and braxton hicks appear to have arrived and for me (or at least I had some bad ones) they seem quite unpleasant. Feels like that contracting sensation when you have stomach flu. Not painful but very uncomfortable. At one point I did wonder if it was early labour as they were quite frequent and weren't going awayConfused
