Thread #7 - TTC#1 Grads - Third Trimester Special

PotatosMum · 01/06/2016 12:38

It's time for another TTC#1 grads thread, with an ever increasing population of new arrivals, old hands and veterans we're moving thick and fast.

The first TTC#1 veterans are waddling their way into the third trimester this thread, with the promise of maternity leave to come, getting them through the day.

No subject is taboo, no TMI is too much, bump pictures, baby scans and photos of cute baby stuff are encouraged.

All are welcome so take your place on team blue, pink or vanilla for another TTC#1 grads thread!

Congrats On the baby boy Lara!!! Team blue must be catching up now.

Glad everyone's 28 week appointments are going well, I have mine next week.

So anyone feel as though time is flying by? Exciting but also scary.

PotatosMum · 08/06/2016 17:23

Bunch thanks for confirming the many midwife appointments are normal Smile

Planet aww, glad your little pancake is making himself known Smile

Lara congrats on team blue! It does make it a bit real when you realise it's a actual human being in there!
Good luck for the second viewing, I hope it goes well and you get an offer.

Danni good luck for your 20 week scan Smile time is dragging a bit for me but I'm a bit preoccupied and getting very heavy and uncomfortable Confused

So, update on the worlds slowest mortgage application. The address looks like it will be accepted (woohoo!) but we need the ex-w to sign a letter for us about something else. Luckily she has agreed so hopefully next week we should have an answer. Exhausted!!!!! Confused

Eek Potato that's AMAZING news!!

Also looks like Teams Pink and Blue are even now.

Planeteer · 08/06/2016 17:31

Yaaaaaaaay Potato!!!!

Mileymoocow · 08/06/2016 17:42

Ok, most importantly!!! potato that's incredible, I'm still keeping everything crossed for you but I have a good feeling all will be well!!!

Eeek it's a 50:50 split! Wonder what it'll end up being.

Just been shopping and H&M have hareem pants in at the moment which have an incredibly comfortable waistband with loads of room. I got a medium and they're brilliant, I think I'm going to live in them. I also got some of their medium leggings which will definitely do for a couple of months, 3 long line vests and 2 basic t shirts. Spent £50 and definitely worth it. Just in case anyone is after cheap basics for day to day but don't want to shell out on maternity wear Grin

Danni89 · 08/06/2016 18:00

I've past 20 weeks potatoe, got my 28 weeks next week! Good news about your mortgage!!

PotatosMum · 08/06/2016 18:10

Gah! Sorry Danni it's so hard to keep track of where everyone is!

No celebrating about the mortgage yet. We haven't got confirmation that the address problem has been solved just a vague, yep, looks ok and they could still come up with something else but at least they're still looking at it.
Also, my sale appears to have stalled thanks to the housing association. So we have issues on both sides. Still I'm sending off the contracts on our purchase at the end of the week so that we can get everything drawn up ready for when I will not say if everything lines up.

Congratulations, Potato

Welcome to team blue, Lara! 💙💙💙💙💙 I'm having a boy too and it was a nice surprise as well even though, like you, I hadn't thought much about it. DH is one of three boys and both his mum and dad have a brother each so it was probably inevitable. And we couldn't agree on a boys' name but had a girls' name sorted from day one... Looking forward to being a mum of a little boy now - there's some nice clothes out there but I think less than there are for girls. Very excited to meet him.

Two babies born this week to colleagues! One of them is in my team and he sent around a photo of his baby girl born earlier today. She looks exactly like him! Apparently his older two girls do as well!

Last day in work is currently planned as 8 September... Three months to go!!!! 😮👍

Soda I'm ashamed that I've not booked my refresher lessons yet... Putting me to shame. DH keeps offering to take me out but I feel nervous (similar situation to you - passed years ago, never drove). We even bought an automatic to make life easier for me... Please make me do it by the end of the month so baby and I can go on adventures. I just want to drive a few miles to the next neighbourhood where there's lots of baby groups and a leisure centre, and then to where he'll go to nursery, for now.

leoniethelioness · 08/06/2016 18:18

Miley Also been to H and M this week. I bought a two pack of black and white T shirts, some leggings, and a black and white tribal sort of design T shirt. I was impressed by how much they has in store - might go back for some shorts if the weather continues.

Pinklily1 · 08/06/2016 19:13

Congratulations on Team Blue Lara! I think that, even though we all know its going to be either a boy or girl, actually getting confirmation is strange. We are super excited to be having a girl, but it does take some time to get used to!

Good luck for the scans later in the week ladies.

For midwife appointments, I had 28 weeks, then 32 weeks, then every 2 weeks after that until baby comes. I really feel like time is flying by now. I had a bit of an "eek" moment this morning when I realised I have 11 weeks and six days to go (if she's on time), and only 9 weeks of work left Shock

Potato, fingers and toes and everything else crossed for your mortgage application.

H&M seem to stock a decent amount of maternity in store, which makes a change from most other shops!

Has anyone bought a cover up shawl thing for breastfeeding? If so, where from?

Danni89 · 08/06/2016 19:34

I do want a breast feeding cover up pink but don't know where to start with that, I also want to try a sling too.. But also confused with where to begin with that too

leoniethelioness · 08/06/2016 19:39

I've bought a Bebe au Lait one from eBay. They are £30 in the shops but tend to go for about £6 on eBay. I'm pleased with it as it means I can see the baby still and it has pockets for breast pads. Really pleased with it. It does look like an apron but there's some nice patterns available.

I'm starting maternity leave at 37+1. When is everyone else starting?

leoniethelioness · 08/06/2016 19:41

*37+2. Can't count. I'm working there day weeks from 34+5.

leoniethelioness · 08/06/2016 19:42

*Three. Wish there was an edit button. DH still at work so not eaten yet and struggling a bit... Just wolfed down some crisps. I only eat beige food these days...

shelbTa · 08/06/2016 19:44

Evening

Lovely news Lara!!!

Pink - I'm 9 weeks left at work too and having some serious 'is this really happening moments'.

Are any other T3'ers absolutely starving?!?!

X

BunchOfBobs · 08/06/2016 19:44

Pink I'm not planning on using a breast feeding cover, just doing the two top system.

Danni what kind of sling are you thinking? I've spent months researching and have 6 Hmm so I can maybe help point you where to start.

BunchOfBobs · 08/06/2016 19:46

Shelb ALL THE TIME! I ate 6 slices of malt loaf yesterday on top of my usual meals then at hypnobirthing I ate 12 biscuits. This baby is going to come out in a foil wrapper.

leoniethelioness · 08/06/2016 19:49

Bunch On baby carrying, I've been given an Ergobaby 360 and an Ergobaby Wrap. Are there any wraps that you've come across that don't need so much, well, wrapping? There is so so much fabric with the Wrap - it's insane! Teddy looked comfy in it though and DH really liked it, much more than the carrier. I'm wondering if there's more of a pull on type sling that's quick and easy to use...

Danni89 · 08/06/2016 19:57

6! Bloody hell bunch.. What ones do you have?...Think I might go to a sling library in my area to try a few out

Pinklily1 · 08/06/2016 19:58

Bunch, how does the two top approach work?!

BunchOfBobs · 08/06/2016 20:19

Leonie there's 3 basic types I've come across, wrap style, structured style and ring slings. The wrap you've obviously come across, the 360 is a structured style carrier and a ring sling is a one shoulder affair that you have to tighten and thread the fabric through the rings but not as much wrapping as such. Your local sling library is a great place to go as Danni is going to do. But I can highly recommend looking at Facebook groups, I've learned loads on there and watch you tube videos on how to use the variety of styles.
Re the ergo 360 even though it's designed so you can wear baby facing out its really not ideal to do. It's not a good position for babies developing spine. Read up on blogs etc about it.

Danni I have two stretchy wraps- a Moby and a Boba (great for newborns) a Little Frog woven wrap (newborn through to toddler but takes getting used to wrapping) a Calin Bleu gauze wrap (great for summer), and two ring slings: a Lenny lamb ring sling and a JPMBB hybrid ring sling. The ring slings we think we'll use most at the beginning as they're what are described as quick ups. The JPMBB has a slight stretch in it and is apparently good for newborns- it's the one DH picked. They're the only two I bought brand new the rest were eBay or on Facebook preloved groups. I got a bit carried away Blush

Pink you wear a vest or vest under another top, then lift the top up and best down. Voila

leoniethelioness · 08/06/2016 20:26

Yes, we'll be using the 360 with a newborn insert and baby facing us. I'll have a look at the ring slings! The Ergobaby Wrap is good but I was astonished by how much fabric there is!

Danni89 · 08/06/2016 20:30

Thanks bunch I'll have a look into those.. The two top might actually be a good shout, looks easy enough

Mileymoocow · 08/06/2016 21:23

There are so many things I didn't even know existed. runs off to research breastfeeding cover ups

Had a Nutella Krispy Kreme today. If you can, please have one 😍

On the subject of slings... I'm really keen on having one, particularly for housework etc. I'm terrified I won't wrap it properly though, so am with lauren in that I need one that doesn't need too much attention to detail. You're definiens the go-to mama bunch! So envious of how prepared and knowledgeable you are.

BunchOfBobs · 08/06/2016 21:40

Leonie yeah my wraps are about 4.6m- 5m in length, you can get bigger. Confused Ring slings are around 2m in length.

That's what I thought Danni, much easier for me than rifling for a cover, plus I'm not keen on the idea of it. I'm a bit of a gobby cow and not shy about confrontation and feel I shouldn't have to cover up. Though I won't be going out of my way to expose myself either.

Thanks Miley, though don't be, it's just a sign of how obsessive I get. DH calls me the industrious mouse a la Ricky Gervais gag.
Once I get fixated on something that's it. I had two of my slings bought whilst TTC Hmm and then there's the whole world of reusable nappies I got into and now it's umbilical cord ties. I'm not happy unless I'm researching or planning something. I just bought a baby led weaning book to prep for that. Thats what only 8 months early .....

Fecking dog just climbed into the bedside cot didn't he. Little sod.
