Since we only have about 15 posts remaining I thought I'd make up the new one.

Lots of babies have arrived already but still plenty of us pregnant too. Here's to our June 2016 babies Smile

Congratulations jellybaby! Glad things finally happened for you. Hope you're both doing well.

My labour also got going again and our baby was born at 2.30 this morning (Thursday) after nearly 24hrs of contractions. We have a boy! Zachary, 3.5kg (think it's 7lb 11?) Totally different to DD's drug free waterbirth, this time I had epidural, low blood pressure meds, oxygen, syntocin, waters broken, but it was a positive experience and he came out in only 6/7 pushes with a very small tear. Over the moon.

Grubby and iam I'm rooting for you!!

sambababy · 10/06/2016 03:20

Forgot to add a picture! Born at 38+5

Had a very crappy nap, pains are still happening and are definately getting stronger - this could be it! Coming around every 8mins or so, so don't think he is in any hurry to actually get here!

bikingintherain · 10/06/2016 07:20

Congratulations samba! He's beautiful!

Good luck divergent and grubby, I hope all the pain is productive.

I had pains last night too but only when I was lying down, it did make sleep a little elusive but think I knew it wasn't turning into anything.

dollydaydream84 · 10/06/2016 07:39

Congrats Samba!! Amazing!!!

Good luck grubby and divergent!

Good luck for the sweep clarish. I can't decide whether to ask for a sweep today. I'm interested to know if my cervix is ready or dilated. I suspect not. Off to see midwife today. What point will you be induced or sectioned? X

GrubbyWindows · 10/06/2016 07:46

Congratulations samba!!!! What a gorgeous chap!

Well, my night was eventful! 10 mins after posting I was arse in the air on the bathroom floor, trying my damndest not to push while DP paged the midwife!!!! Thank god I was with the homebirth team, there is no way I'd have made it to the hospital. The midwives literally ran in the door at 1:50- and DD was born at 1:51!!! So I did get my homebirth, just not quite as envisaged... In hospital now so I can be monitored for a day or two- slightly surreal to arrive in labour ward with a baby already on the breast. Now on the postnatal ward, hoping for some sleep, but seems pretty unlikely...
I hope everything's going super smoothly with you too divergebt!!

ILovePies · 10/06/2016 08:00

Morning all,
I'm not caught up on the thread yet but congrats to everyone with new babies.

Thank you to everyone who posted on Tuesday morning, it was indeed the start of labour (and my DH worked from home). My labour then ended up being 50 hours - contractions did not stop but went up and down in frequency but then at 8pm on Wednesday evening my waters broke at home. By 9:30, my contractions were every 3 minutes and we were on the way to hospital. Our beautiful daughter was born at 2:31 on Thursday morning (at 39+1) weighing a whopping 8lb 15 oz, I had a water birth with no pain relief and we had fantastic midwives - they really made it such a positive experience for me with aromatherapy and encouraging my DH to massage my back through contractions and keeping light and sounds low almost like they weren't there, I never knew at any point how dilated I was only that I was doing a good job. Here she is!

Cartooner · 10/06/2016 10:53

CONGRATULATIONS LADIES! I am loving all the birth stories. I hope you are busy right now divergent.

I can't keep up with the names list of babies, I am loving at the photos and loving the stories but I am one handed here with baby, so can't have the manners to list names without missing someone, sorry!

Turned a corner here with breastfeeding, I am feeling much better for it. Keep re-hashing the birth and having bad dreams I think that's just part of the early days, it went how I wanted to - experiencing my first birth without the epidural - but I do feel a bit hard done by labouring to 10cm on my own behind a curtain without it acknowledged by the staff really, no gas and air cos I wasn't ready for delivery in their view not even 1cm even though I told them I'd been having strong contractions for hours increasing in intensity, I eventually got a shot of pethadine after pretty much begging and was left alone then feeling every bit of the contractions for another two hours, the first genuine midwife support I got was when my waters went and I hit the alarm as I was ready to push. My labour notes have the entire birth down as 12 minutes! My DH was asleep in the car too, lol, no one quite believed I was ready to have this baby! I kinda feel if I was monitored a bit more I'd have been in the delivery suite and it would have been a much more supported transition. I'm sure I'll stop going over it in my mind soon, I think the fact that it became an emergency being rushed down he corridor in a wheelchair shouted at not to push as the midwife saw the cord was tight around his neck it became so fast and frightening.... but the outcome is all good of course so I'm sure I'll move to letting go of it all soon!

Torfhinn · 10/06/2016 11:19

Congratulations samba, grubby and cautious! A flurry of babies Grin

cartooner I'm sorry your birth wasn't what you hoped for. i was fairly traumatised after my first labour and thought that was normal. After this one (great experience), i look back at labour and birth with a smile on my face. I really believe the actions and attitude of the midwives go a long way to how we cope with the experience. Can you access birth afterthoughts when you are ready?

After one proper day out with my two boys, I've bought a double pushchair today! It's so big but will definitely make life easier.

I realised i never posted a pic of DS2 cos hospital internet was rubbish. So here he is (proud mummy!)

Thanks Torfhinn, he is beautiful! I love the hat too (bit of a hat maniac).

I'm not sure if I'm justified complaining about the experience it was exactly what I wanted - labour home long as poss, consider alternatives to epidural and deliver a perfect baby. All boxes ticked really. There were 12 babies born on the ward that night and only so many staff so I just didn't get the level of support I had previously. My SIL is of the view you are nearly better off left alone than having a midwife that might be distracting you or possibility irritating! Which is a point too. I just didn't find myself re-hasing the last hour, more than I did on previous births. I guess to have experienced/felt an (almost) natural birth... not sure if I can use the word natural having taken some pethadine but it was fairly awesome really and mind blowing so it's all going around my head. Hats off to women!

All worth it looking at this little bundle.
