Since we only have about 15 posts remaining I thought I'd make up the new one.

Lots of babies have arrived already but still plenty of us pregnant too. Here's to our June 2016 babies Smile

I just had a massive sweep from my midwife to see if we can kick things off before Friday- I'm 2-3cm already which is a good sign! It wasn't too uncomfortable, presumably because I'm slightly on my way already.
39+3 here, they don't normally sweep before 40w, but given they might be inducing at 40w... MW also was more pragmatic re homebirth- if things are well underway, and my BP hasn't gone mad then she's not going to chase me out of the house. So we shall see.

ILovePies · 06/06/2016 16:58

Fingers crossed you get your home birth grubby

Got a call back from midwife, she didn't seem too worried. Said if i get anymore nosebleeds to contact them again & headache is most likely down to hot weather. Hopefully it'll have just been a one off!

I hope you're all doing ok in the heat!!

Hi all, just getting a chance to update now. My pains continued all day Saturday, really ramped up in the evening. Arrived in hospital and checked at 11pm, told I was effaced and soft (not sure the exact terms) but not dilated. Now, I could have actually fallen off the exam table after the day of regular contractions building and how I felt right then. She said it doesn't mean much as it could kick off fast as a lot of work done, I live quite a way from the hospital so i said I need something as I'm so tired as TENs has done as much as it can and she admitted me to the early labour ward (relieved!) but they wouldn't give me pethadine as the baby wasn't moving enough. At 1.30 they did finally it is wonderful stuff, however I shocked everyone then as within an 1.5hour of contractions in the dark ward thinking I must be mad but I feel like I should be about to have this baby! Wanted to push. And I was, waters burst I pressed the bell, baby born 14 minutes later. Here he is...

GrubbyWindows · 06/06/2016 17:47

cartooner that's great- congratulations!! So glad the MW listened to you- you know your body! He's gorge!

dollydaydream84 · 06/06/2016 18:00

Will keep my fingers crossed for your home birth grubby was your mw able to check how dilated you were without doing a sweep? I might ask mine on Friday to check but I don't want a sweep if cervix still closed.

Congrats cartooner sounds like when my mum had me, they examined her she wasn't anywhere near fully dilated, midwife walked out, mum got an urge to push and dad wouldn't ring the bell as he said "the midwife said you weren't ready" so she had to do it herself, sure enough I was on my way, surprised everyone! He's gorgeous huge congrats!

Glad you are ok pies

Glad Rishi had his TT snipped nehagarg good luck with the rest of your BF journey xx

I have slept half the afternoon and then woke up and was really sick. Have been sick throughout but only in the morning so felt really shaken up by it. Still feel really sick now and very bloated. Rest of the house had a bug last week so I'm hoping it's not that :( had a tiny bit of potato to see how that goes down. Feeling dehydrated already! Was pretty much doing well with pregnancy until I hit 37 weeks! Felt dreadful since! Hope all are well

iamdivergent · 06/06/2016 18:06

MagicDucky · 06/06/2016 19:19

Congratulations cartooner what a wee cutie!

Hope you're feeling better soon dolly.

Was at the MW today and she says baby is back to back. FX he/she turns soon!

ILovePies · 06/06/2016 19:29

Congratulations cartooner! He's gorgeous!
Bless him clarish kids do come out with some funny things sometimes!
Thanks dolly, hope you feel better soon. Could be a mixture of sleeping & the heat. Hope you haven't caught the bug!
Oh no magic hope bubba turns. Apparently rocking back wards & forwards on your hands & knees is supposed to help!

dollydaydream84 · 06/06/2016 20:24

Thanks all. Haven't eaten anything else but it's stayed down so not a bug I don't think. Really bad back ache like period pain now. Seems unlikely that it's the start of something given I was 2 weeks late
Last time but I won't completely rule it out.probably just iron tablets making me feel wretched!

cautiousoptimist1 · 06/06/2016 20:28

Congratulations cartooner, he's a sweetie.

Lots of babies now!

clarish how cute of your 10 year old, so lovely that he cares. It's a shame you miss his awards evening though.

Sorry you're feeling so ill dolly, hope it's a sign of things starting for you.

My BH are getting a bit more painful tonight and can feel them in my lower back for the first time too. Baby is definitely feeling lower with more movement and pressure in my pelvis but bump doesn't seem to have dropped (unless I just can't tell!).

GrubbyWindows · 06/06/2016 20:31

Oooh dolly some people do chuck up in labour, maybe maybe... But v glad it's not looking like a bug, that would be extra grim!
Not sure if MW would have checked dilation without sweeping- you can always ask? She found my cervix right away, and told me the dilation before starting stirring about, so should be possible?

dollydaydream84 · 06/06/2016 20:45

Thanks grubby. Will ask her if I make it to Friday! I threw up in labour last time but that was mid way through due to the painkillers I think Grin hubby looking very nervous on the couch every time I sigh!

LouLou030783 · 06/06/2016 20:59

Congrats cartooner hope u feel better soon dolly x

cautiousoptimist1 · 07/06/2016 04:02

I really don't know if things are getting started or not here. I thought it was BH but have been having regular tightenings since 12:45, moved into spare room at 1am and not managed any sleep. I've been sick and had diarrhoea (sorry!). Trying to time them as though they are contractions but no real pattern yet but I can't sleep through them. I feel stupid not knowing if this is it!

MindfulBear · 07/06/2016 06:45

Morning cautious
How you doing?
It might be the start of things or it could be false labour. However sounds like your body is clearing out so fx!!!! (Could still be a few days tho...,)
Might be worth trying to go for a long walk this morning. Sometimes that can help a baby get into the right position to properly kick things off.
Otherwise a nice warm bath/shower (lie on your side is best, rather than on your back), some relaxing music, a hot water bottle & some pain killers can give you enough relief to grab some proper sleep.

Don't forget to remain hydrated & to eat. You don't want to be dehydrated and you need the energy for labour.

Hope you feel better soon.

cautiousoptimist1 · 07/06/2016 07:15

Thanks mindful, still the same. I've been timing since 3:30 and they're between 5 and 12 minutes apart. Sounds daft but don't know whether to send DH to work, he works an hour away but it could still be hours/days yet!

cautiousoptimist1 · 07/06/2016 07:16

Oh and I really wish I had a hot water bottle for the back pain but we don't have one, might beg a neighbour!

dollydaydream84 · 07/06/2016 08:00

Cautious that does sound like its getting quite regular. I wouldn't send him in to work just in case!! Good luck xxx

As for me I was sick again last night and then felt absolutely fine. All pains and aches went away. So glad I didn't ring maternity ward! Very odd though it's not like a bug as I've only been sick twice and kept water down. We'll see how a piece of toast goes down this morning. Thanks for all the kind words, I was actually starting to worry that I was in labour! ShockHmm

BabySocks · 07/06/2016 08:02

I would send him to work, he will have time to get to you if it all kicks off and you want all the time possible afterwards. I remember having the same conundrum numerous times though!

BabySocks · 07/06/2016 08:03

Ha ha seems dolly and I cross posted opposite thoughts :)

ILovePies · 07/06/2016 08:20

I would send him to work too! He will have plenty of time to get back, once they start to regulate (if they do) then call him back! Hope things get properly starting for you lovely & it's not a false start!

Glad you feel better dolly it must be a relief for you!!

Happy due date spock! I don't think there's any other of my due date buddies who have made it to today!?
Caught the kids cold :( sore throat, bunged up nose & pounding headache!! Sad
