Actually managed to go for a swim today for the first time since becoming pregnant! Knackered now tho (and I had a biscuit after wards which probably undid my attempted food work)

smellsofelderberries · 17/05/2016 19:30

Fuzzy, that is a small gap! Tell me to bugger off, but was it planned that way? I am already thinking about baby #2 as I have found a small gap much easier (when nannying) than even 2 years. Completely prepared to change my mind once we have this one though! But, I think we will probably go for 3 and not sure how my body would handle 3 pregnancies within 3 years (18 months being a good gap I think). I am not planning on going back on birth control (aside from barrier protection for a few months) postpartum.

Beelze that is so interesting. HONY at doing a series of posts in a children's cancer hospital at the moment, and one of the senior doctors said the longer he works in the cancer field, the more amazed he is by a healthy kid, as there are so many things that can go wrong in every cell. It reminded me so much of getting pregnant. Once you know the exact science of it, it's amazing people can ever get pregnant at all!

Went for a walk this evening and have just eaten a massive bowl of salad for dinner... feeling very pleased after 13 weeks of almost zero exercise and terrible food choices!

FuzzyOwl · 17/05/2016 20:46

smells completely planned and would have been a smaller age gap if it hadn't taken us four cycles to conceive. We also think we would like a third and, partly because of our ages, will be aiming for as small an age gap as possible again. As well as our age, my working situation comes into it and makes smaller age gaps much more convenient for us.

But smells it is worth mentioning that DD is an abnormal sleeper - guaranteed for 13 hours per night, every night and has yet to notice any of her teeth come through. Everyone keeps telling me that most babies aren't like her so if we had had a different child or the second one shatters my illusions of motherhood, my answer above would be very different. Grin

All being well I'll have 19 months between my two, and didn't have a period between the two pregnancies so couldn't have had any shorter a gap than that!!

needanewjob · 17/05/2016 21:11

copper well done! How much better do you feel as soon as the energy comes back? I'm like a new person

Fedupithink · 17/05/2016 21:17

Wow! You are both heroes with such small gaps! My DH keeps talking about a second and all I can think is "let's just see how this one works out in practice"

Littlegrey did you hear from the hospital today?

tiredmumrighthere · 17/05/2016 21:19

Talking of age gaps, there is 10 months between my two eldest, my daughter was born in jan and my son came 10 months later in Nov so both 2002 babies, then 23 months later came my other daughter so I had 3 under 3 Shock then there is a 9 and a half year age gap between child 3 and 4, then with this baby and my 23 month old there will be 2 and a half year gap, so I've had both small and big age gaps and i found the 3 under 3 easier than starting again this time round Confused

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 17/05/2016 21:24

No nothing today fedup. And my DD is a really good 13 month old which Makes it easier to imagine coping with 2! No doubt #2 will be a nightmare! Confused

Fedupithink · 17/05/2016 21:32

Fingers crossed for some news for you tomorrow then Littlegrey

Tiredmum so this will be your fifth? Have I read that right? Wow!!

tiredmumrighthere · 17/05/2016 21:47

Yes 5th lol bit of a pro at it now Confused

Beelzebubble · 17/05/2016 21:48

There'll be 14 years between mine lol :D

coppergrey · 17/05/2016 21:50

Feels great, fedup! Still getting bouts of tiredness in the afternoon, but it's 9.50pm and I'm still up and about which is a huge improvement. Hooray for 13 weeks!

tiredmumrighthere · 17/05/2016 22:03

Oh wow Beelze how exciting x

Spottyladybird · 18/05/2016 09:38

Definite baby wiggling feelings today. Am 15 weeks tomorrow. I don't remember feeling this until 18 weeks last time?
Is it usual to feel it earlier in second pregnancies?

Thurlow · 18/05/2016 09:43

Morning all, how are people feeling today?

Fuzzy, did you have your mw appt yesterday? Any news on the potential elcs?

Getting frustrated by the good days and bad days here - Monday I threw up nearly everything, yesterday morning I had a rare hurl before even leaving the house, but the other days I feel so much better?

Had an honest chat with my manager too about doing too much at the moment and hitting a wall. Fortunately she was very sympathetic and reminded me that I can always work from home if I need too. I feel guilty doing it (for the rest of my team) but I need to be a bit more sensible; I've been trying to carry on as if I've not been being sick 2-3 times a day for several months, which is a bit stupid.

So exciting to hear the first gender news, and a few babies starting to make themselves known!

AlbusPercival · 18/05/2016 10:01

I feel awful today

Woke up with a splitting headache, starving hungry and sick. My backhas been aching for a few days, and today my nipples are on fire.

Fun times!

MW appointment tomorrow, really hope I can hear a lovely strong hb

Beelzebubble · 18/05/2016 10:15

You poor thing, Albus :( The nipple burning sensation is horrible. Like lightening!

Fedupithink · 18/05/2016 10:22

I'm good today thanks Thurlow haven't been sick since Sunday and no nausea for a couple of weeks now. But the tiredness is insane and the bloating is so uncomfortable come the second half of the day. I slept for 9 hours last night, woke up for breakfast then napped for 3 hours!

I'm starting to eat better now too which is helping the constipation so hoping I've definitely turned a corner.

I'm jealous of those of you feeling movements already! I'm 14+4 today and nothing yet but this is my first baby. Private scan on Sunday so I'll be 15+1 and hoping to see little one wriggling around happily!

mrsdane · 18/05/2016 10:32

Fedup, we're date and situation buddies! Have you any sign of a bump yet? I've felt nothing as yet but am looking forward to having the reassurance of the odd kick.

Has anyone else found that eating loads of meat makes your stomach incredibly uncomfortable - nausea and constipation?

almondbutter · 18/05/2016 10:45

Albus you poor thing, rest up and feel better. If it raises a smile, I had to stop shaving my legs this morning to sit down in the shower and be sick. I am not sure I have ever felt less glamorous, sitting there covered in sick (Lucozade sick for added colour) and shaving foam.

really good to hear some of you getting good work support. I am on a freelance women writers' Facebook group and posted this morning about my continuing pukefest -- ladies there absolutely lovely and very helpful with the practical suggestions.

tiredmumrighthere · 18/05/2016 10:48

Spotty I've been feeling wriggly for the last 4 weeks and I'm only 14+2, the more baby's you have the more you feel the flutters early on!

Well I went to bed at 10:30 last night felt fine, was having a lovely sleep! Then my little one woke me calling "mummy" at 4:10 this morning and yep I haven't been to sleep since! I was feeding her cereal at 5:30 am with my eyes closed.
I'm dead beat today and can't nap because got someone coming to measure windows between now and 1pm Sad
She never wakes up and sleeps 7-7 but I'm guessing she's teething because yesterday she drove me mad whinging Confused

Thurlow · 18/05/2016 10:52

Poor thing, Albus, definitely back to bed if you can. Sometimes you feel better for a few days, do too much by accident, and that can make you feel worse.

Spotty, I've been feeling movement for a few weeks now, you definitely feel it earlier with 2nd and more babies, I read somewhere it's because you remember what you're feeling for?

coppergrey · 18/05/2016 10:58

I'm having a bit of a panic and just need to get it out, so please excuse me for the brain dump...

I mentioned earlier in the thread that while on holiday in San Francisco, I got bitten by a mosquito. As soon as I realised I'd been bitten I panicked about Zika and started researching. This is what I've found out:

  • Zika is not being transmitted anywhere in mainland USA. In San Francisco, the two reported cases are in women who recently returned from Brazil. All cases reported in mainland USA are travel-related.
  • The specific species of mosquito that carries the virus has not been found in San Fran or Santa Cruz (the other county we visited, where I think I was bitten), although it has been found in neighbouring counties. But again, it's just the species that's been detected and not the disease itself.
  • Zika is pretty hard to test for - it can only be detected if the patient is displaying symptoms, and 80% of those who have it never display symptoms.
  • If you have contracted Zika and are symptomless, there's no way of knowing if it will affect your baby until much later in pregnancy.

I know the chance of me having it is pretty much next-to-nothing but I can't stop thinking about it. I'm going to speak to my midwife and see what she says but I don't think there's anything that can be done to put my mind at rest, and I just need to try forget about it.

Sorry... I have no questions and there's not really anything to be said but I just wanted to get all this out! Normal service now resumes :)
