Ooo twins! Congrats cockles and welcome Smile
My movements feel like swooshing, I recognise it from my other pregnancies, can't believe it's taken until almost 19 weeks to feel movement this time, especially as she's my 5th Shock

CocklesandMussels · 20/06/2016 16:53

I'm getting some distinct kicks now, right at the bottom of my bump, and to either side. Nothing in the middle but I have one anterior and one fundal (top) placenta, so I guess that makes sense. Up until last week it was definitely more swooshing than kicking!

needanewjob · 20/06/2016 17:56

Ahhh twins! I secretly hoped for twins this time round but wasn't to be. I keep dropping hints to my husband about another child after this one but he is remaining very noncommittal 😜

smellsofelderberries · 20/06/2016 18:13

Welcome Cockles, you will have your hands full!

My little one has been going mad this afternoon, I'm definitely starting to notice a pattern. I'll feel movements between 9 and midday, then he'll go quiet for a few hours then at about 4 he'll start going mad again until about 8ish. I'm still just having the rolling sensations, but yesterday felt two small kicks from the outside. Unfortunately DH didn't get in quick enough to feel it too but I'm crossing fingers it'll be soon. I think he's going to get very excited and emotional when he can feel the kicking too!

Spottyladybird · 20/06/2016 18:36

I feel more distinct kicks when I'm doing stories at bedtime for DD, quite sweet- I like this story too mummy!!

Last night had kicks at 4am, followed by heartburn and the first time I reached for the gaviscon in the night!!

I need some help ladies- I've got a wedding in a few weeks, will need a maternity dress to wear as I have a biggish bump already. The wedding is quite casual (in a field) and I'll have DD aged 3 to run after too. Has anyone seen anything? I'm a size 8, growing boobs, big bump!

Fedupithink · 20/06/2016 19:09

Hi Spotty I've had heartburn too this week, so bad I had to prop myself up with pillows in bed last night for hours. Thankfully pharmacy have said Rennies are safe so I bought 2 packets!

Ive got a wedding in mid-July and have ordered the Carbury dress in both coral and black from Isabella Oliver. It's a plain jersey dress with a v-neck which can be dressed up for the wedding but I wanted something I could wear normally afterwards too so it's quite plain but also doubles as a nursing dress. It should have been £109 but was £54 in the sale - worth checking out the sale section!

coppergrey · 20/06/2016 19:25

Interesting to hear about all the different movements! I'm 18w tomorrow so hopefully over the next few weeks it'll become more pronounced with more of a pattern. I REALLY don't like this in between stage where it feels like nothing's happening and it's still ages till the scan!

Spotty, I've also got a wedding in July and have bought this - www.asos.com/ASOS-Maternity/ASOS-Maternity-Pink-and-Grey-Iris-Soft-Midi-Swing-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=6600496&cid=5813&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=204&sort=-1&clr=Multi&totalstyles=1156&gridsize=3. I've tried LOADS of ASOS maternity occasionwear dresses and none have been very nice but this one is the exception - it's so comfy and flattering and I love the pattern.

freerangeeggs · 20/06/2016 20:40

Thanks everyone for the comments on vaccinations. I spoke to the gynaecologist about it and he said sure, I can get it, but over here you get prescriptions for vaccines and have to pick them up from the pharmacy. The pharmacy didn't have it in stock so I've to trek to the other side of the city... might just wait until I'm back in the UK over the summer, though I'm not registered with a doctor there Hmm

I'm feeling some movements now (right now!) and DH felt it the other night too, which he was quite excited about. I think he's been a bit jealous Grin It's making me feel quite sick though - does anyone else get this? Not morning sickness - it's more like car sickness when I feel the baby moving? I get waves of it all day.

Lovely dress coppergrey

Is anyone else feeling really apprehensive? People are excited and everyone has been lovely (lots of offers of clothes and so on) but they keep talking about having a baby as if we're going to prison. This wasn't a planned pregnancy anyway and I'm still not 100% sure I'm ready for it so the jokey comments are making me nervous. DH is so positive and it's rubbing off on me, but I was quite happy with my life before and I'm scared by how much it's going to change.

Canters15 · 20/06/2016 21:41

Lovely dress copper! I really enjoy fashion normally and am struggling with how shite so much maternity wear is. Good to know nice things can be found.

free my baby was planned and I still don't feel ready. We tried cos it was theoretically a good time, then the months of negative tests made me really want it, then I got a positive and started crapping myself. I'm trying to remind myself of the good aspects of having kids, and that there are a lot of acopic drama queens in the world and it can't be all bad or no one would ever have a second. It's scary stuff though.

doubletrouble41 · 20/06/2016 21:50

Hi there, was expecting to be in the December 16 club but discovered I'm carrying twins, so most likely looking at November. Anyone else having/had twins? Is it normal to be completely terrified...? x

tiredmumrighthere · 20/06/2016 22:18

Welcome double Smile wow more twins, your the second person today to join with twins!! Congrats!!

Don't know if this is "too formal" but I think this is a lovely dress and perfect for a wedding x

gorgeous dress tiredmum. I had my last baby in 1998, and I'm pleased to say maternity wear has really improved!

tiredmumrighthere · 20/06/2016 22:32

Lol double Grin wow are you saying there's a 18 years age gap?

BeedlesPineNeedles · 21/06/2016 06:32

free we tried for 5 years to get pregnant and I still occasionally Think what have we done? I still feel a bit scared and not quite ready for this! I'm sure we'll all manage just fine in the end.

CocklesandMussels · 21/06/2016 08:17

That H&M dress is gorgeous. I bought a second hand Tiffany Rose one from eBay last time, it still cost a lot! But worth looking for a special occasion.
Another set of twins, I'm glad I'm not the only one. double I'm definitely terrified but also secretly quite excited. We found out very early though so we've had abut of time to get used to it.

Devon2000 · 21/06/2016 08:34

free we have people around us that make those kind of comments but I just take it with a pinch of salt. Everyone's experience is different. Things will change but I've got friends who still do the things they did before; work trips abroad, going travelling, nights out etc. they just needed to do some extra juggling & planning. Im sure everyone gets wobbly moments, I know I've worried that it'll change my relationship with DP. If people imply you won't get out much put them top of the babysitting list so you can have a night out post baby arriving!

Can anyone give me some advice? I've got myself worked up about not sleeping on my back. I'm trying not to but keep turning onto my back in my sleep ( wake up on my back) & it's stressing me out. I'm 19 weeks tomorrow & I've no bump yet. I read that the problem is the weight of the bump pressing down so maybe I'm ok until a bump appears? Does anyone know how scientific that advice is? Am I in danger of hurting the baby if I can't stay on my side? Pillows don't seem to help as I or DP seem to push them away in night.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 21/06/2016 10:27

Feel like I've not checked in for ages. Reading along though. Off to look at some double buggies today!

doubletrouble41 · 21/06/2016 14:17

cockles its kind of reassuring that someone else is terrified! had a meltdown cry two nights ago although I am actually excited, suddenly felt a bit overwhelmed. Partly as I'm 41, and my only other child was born when I was 23! All good now. Its great to hear others stories and progress. Any other over 40 mumstobe here? Im scared folk will think Im the grandma!

doubletrouble41 · 21/06/2016 14:20

freerangeeggs My first child was unplanned and I felt very apprehensive and scared but it was great. You sound like you have a super positive partner, so it'll be great. good luck xxx

Starla268 · 21/06/2016 15:20

Devon, my midwife told me not to worry too much about the back thing. She explained that it's more of a concern when the baby gets bigger as the pressure of baby and your organs all squished up can restrict your oxygen supply but she told me that a lack of oxygen will affect you long before it affects baby and that you will wake up naturally if there is a problem and be able to reposition yourself. I think as long as you can breathe comfortably lying on your back at the moment you should be absolutely fine.

Also hi everyone! Haven't posted for ages but have been lurking!

coppergrey · 21/06/2016 17:23

I had a sleeping on my back panic a few days ago but after Googling it seems that you'll feel any effects before baby - apparently it can make you feel really dizzy as baby is pressing on a main artery. In our pregnancy yoga class the teacher asks anyone over 30w to lie on their side when we do lying on back stuff... Everyone else is fine!

Spottyladybird · 21/06/2016 17:31

Fedupithink · 21/06/2016 18:30

I'm hoping for a bit of reassurance please - I'm now 19+3 and have only felt baby move a couple of times. I am super busy most of the time so barely have time to sit down still but im feeling like I should be feeling him or her more regularly now?

This is definitely coupled with the busiest week work wise in a long time and scan anxiety creeping in again as its a week tomorrow so not feeling great Sad

smellsofelderberries · 21/06/2016 19:08

Fedup my little one was going mad yesterday and today I've barely felt him. They have lazy days just like we do. If you've felt baby at all that's a great thing. They don't have to be kickboxing for everything to be fine!

Can't believe our anomaly scan is only a week tomorrow, I'm super excited to find out what we're having! Feels like it's been forever since I've seen the little guy even though it's only a few weeks.

coppergrey · 21/06/2016 19:11

Hi Fedup, I'm a bit behind you at 18w today but I haven't felt much movement either... from everything I've read it's perfectly normal for your first so I'm not too worried.

I find I have to really tune in to be able to feel the movements at all - could you try giving yourself an hour each evening to sit and 'listen' for it? You could also try drinking something fizzy and lying on your left side - apparently that gets them moving!

If you're worried give your midwife a shout for sure.
