Here's the new thread, for bumps and babies before we all graduate together!

Sample comment from DP today: "life would be a whole let better around here if you did less (baby) holding and got on with the things you are supposed to be doing" (ie tidying up)
Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!
Meanwhile, an epic speed walk to the midwife clinic later with the bloody inlaws in tow raging all the way LO has gained all but 60g of her birth weight back, yay!!

GunShotResidue · 20/05/2016 16:40

cant yay for baby's weight gain! Wow to your DPs comment though, holding baby is what you're supposed to be doing! I hope you give him hell for that.

DH had taken DD to martial arts, so I'm on the sofa under a blanket watching crap TV. The midwife this morning told me to rest, so I am! Having a sweep next Thursday and Saturday if need be, then will discuss induction then if he's being stubborn. Glad to have a plan but hoping he'll be born this weekend!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 20/05/2016 16:51

I know, right Gunshot? He's not a total idiot but he does quite a good impression of one at times. I think he's also pissed off with his parents being here and not being our and about much. Am pretty ready for him to go back to work TBH though a bit sad that we have had precisely 3 nights of his whole paternity leave home alone!

OP posts:
GunShotResidue · 20/05/2016 18:25

I think if DH came home now and told me I should do more housework and spend less time playing with 2 year old DD I'd probably kill him (I'm a sahm and do pretty much all the housework but DD always comes first)!

I hope you manage to enjoy the rest of his paternity leave though.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 20/05/2016 18:33

Let's just say it's early days for him as a dad, I think he'll settle into it soon enough...

OP posts:
ODog · 20/05/2016 19:42

Don't worry cant. MY DH has been twatish annoying today too. Desuperstar to take DS to soft play this morning and then spent half the time on the phone to his mum (who has met DS once and has zero interest in our lives) which left me following DS about (difficult when sore stitches prevent any actual climbing) whist simultaneously breastfeeding. Then wanted to go to my parents to have a beer with my dad to wet the babies head. We left far too late for DS and he was hungry and tired, DD needed feeding so I was driving home try to sing old McDonald to distract toddler and soothe DD while he was on the bloody phone again to his brother about his wedding.

He's all confused as to why I'm annoyed now!

Icecappedpinetrees · 20/05/2016 20:45

Where are their heads at? Honestly...I'll add mine...

DH is good through the night. He gets the nappy changing kit and warm water if I poke him, I do all the breast feeding and burping and waking up to check him and settle him. But I like it like that, I'd rather one of us slept so was able for our toddler the next day!

But today... He's been out in that garage measuring and labelling bits of wood (he's going to build a climbing frame) and has taken three trips to the construction shop which is about half an hours drive away to buy cement for the posts. Piffle piffling around with instructions and screws and charging his drill ready for tomorrow's big build with his dad. Meaning yes, I'll have MIL all day Confused

Meanwhile our white floor (yes yes a big mistake!) is covered in food (despite me hoovering yesterday!) I despise Cheerios, there's nothing cheery about them, every day my toddler insists on having a bowl and every day he doesn't eat them and they end up scattered across the floor.

Icecappedpinetrees · 20/05/2016 20:49

Can I just add to what ODog said - baby one - breastfeeding meant sitting down with water, remote control, iPad and a snack cake or biscuits

Baby two - so far I've breastfed walking around the house, making toast for toddler, in the garden, while bathing toddler, in the car etc etc etc Poor baby must think it's meals on wheels.

frozensmoothie · 20/05/2016 20:53

Welcome newcomers! Hope everyone else doesn't have too long to wait now

Were still in hospital waiting for the jaundice to clear up. I'm feeling a bit better now after hearing all the women in my bay struggling with breastfeeding. One poor woman's baby screams day and night as she is so hungry. I think she might be finally getting help. I'm still struggling but I think it's getting easier so persevering with the combined feeding at the moment. That makes me feel better parsnip formula does just seen so much easier especially as you know exactly how much she's getting, I'm never sure whether she's getting enough with the breast!

Really hoping we can get discharged tomorrow!

frozensmoothie · 20/05/2016 20:56

Oops on phone and didn't mean to double post!

ParsnipSoup · 20/05/2016 21:09

Frozen it's true that you can measure formula which makes people feel better, but on the other hand you have to sterilise and make up bottles so swings and roundabouts. If you're happy combination feeding then carry on, I know loads of people who do really well with a mixture of both. If you get fed up of the two at a later point you just know she's getting enough breastmilk by wet nappies and weight gain (although it's normal to lose up to 10% in your first 5 days).

I can't quite believe how rubbish some of the new Dads are being! Getting worried about what my DP will say after baby is born now. Thankfully there will be no housework comments because he appears to be blind to mess.

It feels like baby has crawled back under my ribs and I can't breathe again. MIL coming to stay for the weekend tomorrow, so actually hoping I don't go into labour until at least Monday so I can have some chilled out family time.

Pikz · 21/05/2016 03:58

Icecap that made me laugh. I too am meals on wheels... I can feed and build brio at the same time Grin

Icecappedpinetrees · 21/05/2016 07:06

It's official...my baby will only sleep in my bed next to me. I tried and tried and tried to put him back in the 'next to you' cot (apparently it's not as "next to me" as he would like) until 3am. I gave up and brought him in and be slept 3-5am then a poonami. A wonderful night Hmm

Everythinggettingbigger · 21/05/2016 08:45

Oh no Ice don't say that I had high hopes for my next to me which I set up yesterday....DS1 would only sleep on my chest so thought this was the answer!

If it makes anyone feel better DP is pretty useless already and DS2 isn't even here yet! He actually let me sit up in bed near in tears from pain rubbing my own back while he played on his phone!! That bloody phone!!!

Was convinced last night was the night, all the signs, vomiting, diahrroea (sorry tmi) lots of discharge, dull ache in my back legs and bum and Bump and some pretty strong pains.......once again it fizzled out to nothing!! And I feel absolutely fine this morning! Bump went very low instead of baby being wedged under my ribs! Getting really frustrated now!

Sorry to hear everyone is having such trouble BF, I'm really worried as I don't really have any home support, DP would prefer me to FF just so MIL can feed the baby as well (yes seriously) and all he keeps saying is "you might not even be able to" as I've had breast augmentation surgery! (Nipples were removed and re attached during so lots of severed nerve endibgs)

How are the newborn cuddles going?

Hope you can enjoy yours now the French ILs have gone home and the rests of DPs paternity! Can't believe we have 2 week old babies on the thread already!

Pikz · 21/05/2016 09:15

Ice cap the sleepyhead worked for us inside the next to me! Honestly such pampered children Wink

Everything did you not just punch him?

Maybe the severed nerve endings will help as it will be less painful?

Feeding has taken a lot of perseverance on my side but think we are getting there now. I also express a bottle a day so his bedtime feed DH gives him so that he will easily take a bottle

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 21/05/2016 11:10

We used the sleepyhead inside the bedside crib last night for the first time and it was a success!! She slept all night apart from feeds so that was a 2nd good night in a row especially the bit when I asked DP to do her nappy and he swore about it then she weed on everything
The inlaws left this morning, a mercifully brief visit though DP is in a stinking mood and left with all of his mum's mad advice about putting the baby down instead of holding her when she is crying. Hopefully it wears off soon!! Can't believe she is 2 weeks old today!

OP posts:
GunShotResidue · 21/05/2016 11:17

DH is surgically attached to his phone. I've told him he won't be whilst on paternity!

Glad to here some babies are sleeping and feeding better! I hope it continues.

I've just bought a whole pineapple to eat. I'd really like to give birth this weekend!

ParsnipSoup · 21/05/2016 12:04

Hurrah for sleeping cant. Hopefully DH forgets the advice about just leaving the baby when she cries. Surely it's nicer for everyone to just have a cuddle.

Everything I hate it when people say "you might not be able to", I'd rather everyone was just 100% supportive while I'm considering it/trying it and then if I decide not to that people just accept that too. I don't like negativity to start with. Fingers crossed for it working out for you, I have a friend who had breast augmentation and then managed to breastfeed for months, although strangely only out of one boob, but it worked for her!

Gunshot you are brave, if I ate a whole pineapple I'd be on the loo for a week.

I'm having a bit of a mad panic. I haven't seen one of my cats all day. I can't find her anywhere in the house, and they only go in the back garden when I'm there. I'm worried she's snuck out with DP this morning (through the front door near a main road) but I can't see her down the street and she is definitely daft enough to want to play with cars. Feel even worse as the lady I got her from 3 years ago is Facebook ranting about an owner of a cat from 2 litters after my cat, who has been letting the cat out and then he got run over. I wish I had a cat GPS tracking system.

GrouchyKiwi · 21/05/2016 12:25

Sorry about all the useless DPs. Mine has been trained into submission over a few years so he's doing OK at the moment, despite being the biggest faffer known to mankind. It took him an hour to get ready just to go to the gardening centre this morning, during which time I lost all the energy I had.

Cant Glad your ILs are on their way home. Hopefully your DP will quickly forget the nonsense. Newborn babies NEED the cuddles and snuggles.

Everything You have much more forbearance than I. I'd have punched DH if he made such comments.

Gunshot I want this baby out now too. Thanks for the reminder about pineapple; DH has now added it to the shopping list!

Parsnip Hope your cat turns up soon. Flowers

I'm having loads of ligament pain around the bump at the moment. It's hideous. I'm currently sitting here with two hot water bottles.

ODog · 21/05/2016 12:43

So glad to hear about other DPs/DHs being stuck to phones and generally a bit useless. Makes me feel less like poking him in the eye when he just refused to get me food as the cricket is on (he's already a bit put to not be playing today!)

Just had 5 day weigh in with the midwife and DD has gained 5oz so I'm pretty chuffed with that and it makes up for the fact that my boobs are huge and my nipples are bleeding!

Fingers crossed for lots of baby evictions this weekend!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 21/05/2016 13:14

Am currently pushing LO round our car park as she doesn't like to sleep in the pram but seems to like the bumps...plus DP has decided since yesterday that I'm not allowed to use my phone near her so it's my only chance to check in here! Hope you find your cat parsnip and glad to hear all DPs are similarly useless at times, I sometimes think it's just mine! Hoping for evictions this weekend for the May bumps Smile

Ps DP's phoneban for me has coincided with his breaking last night....usually it's him glued to his phone all the time!

OP posts:
GunShotResidue · 21/05/2016 15:10

I've eaten the whole pineapple. My lip is bleeding and my tongue feels very strange. Slightly worried about how much sugar I might have had, but I'll let you know if it brings anything on!

GrouchyKiwi · 21/05/2016 16:12

Heh Gunshot. Hope it was worth it!

I take back what I said about my DH being good. I asked him to mow the lawns - last night and had to re-ask a few times today - and he has managed to leave it just long enough for heavy rain to fall. The grass is so long in some places that it's dying. It's meant to rain more tomorrow and then he'll be back at work (unless the baby comes). And I can't do it myself because of the SPD. Angry
