Here's the new thread, for bumps and babies before we all graduate together!

Gunshot I soooo love the food diaries.

Frozen everyone is right, bf takes time and work and patience. Also have they properly checked for tongue tie? With DS1 the tongue tie that meant he wouldn't feed properly for 6 weeks til it was cut so I express fed him. Ds2 had his cut on day 2 and it's made such a difference to our bf journey. Despite everything remember that happy mummy is happy baby and therefore as long as baby is fed it doesn't matter how :)

DS2 has the most horrible cold at 2 weeks. He keeps vomiting up all the gunk :(

Everythinggettingbigger · 22/05/2016 21:19

Congratulations notso

Good luck with the wedges gun let me know how you get on!

Feeling pretty miserable tonight, I feel like I'm going vomit, so much pressure pushing into my bum and feel like he's trying to break free keep getting really sharp pains in the downstairs region! Back ache is that bad I'm giving the paracetamol another 10 mins to kick in or I'm getting the tens machine out! Lots of aches and tightenings but nothing seems to be happening!

Everythinggettingbigger · 22/05/2016 21:22

Oh Pikz I hope baby is feeling better soon! Bug hugs to you both!

frozen really hope the BF gets easier for you.....take it easy on yourself and remember that a fed baby is all that matters! Breast or bottle!

Notrobusta · 22/05/2016 23:38

Not sure what to do. Started having a show yesterday which has continued on and off today too. This evening I have been getting painful contractions (but barable). They range from every six mins to every 11 mins so still very inconsistent. I'm sure if I rang the labour ward they would say they are not consistently close enough or painful enough to go in. The trouble is my mother is the childcare for my twonolder children and she isnhalf an hour away. Not keen on getting her out of bed unnecessarily at this point. Should I just gonto bed and see what happens?

ParsnipSoup · 23/05/2016 07:21

What did you decide to do in the end not?! Has baby arrived or did it all calm down? If only labour was more predictable.

Icecappedpinetrees · 23/05/2016 07:25

Notro - hope you called for backup! How did your night go? Did it stop? I've got a feeling another wee baby is about to join us....

GunShotResidue · 23/05/2016 14:10

not I hope it turned into something and your mum got there on time!

Still no signs here. I've tried pretty much everything, I'm feeling like I'll never go into labour! I'm tired and irritable and being a rubbish mum to poor DD. My first sweep won't even be for 3 days, I think I'll go mad by then!

TristanlovesIsolde · 23/05/2016 17:25

40+5 here and had loose tummy all day. Sweep tomorrow morning so hopefully baby will be here in next few days.

not hope you have some news to share soon.

Nicky333 · 23/05/2016 17:41

I'm due today. I've had backache all last night, sharp and painful lower bump pains today, the trots (sorry!) and I'm due to be induced tomorrow.

Everythinggettingbigger · 23/05/2016 18:34

Failed attempt at a sweep again this morning as cervix is still posterior. Baby is now pretty much fully engaged though! Can't believe how many aches and pains I'm having but they haven't been doing anything I am officially fed up!

Happy due date Nicky

Tristan that sounds promising!

Outnumb3red · 23/05/2016 18:41

Hi, I'm due on Thursday. Seen my consultant today to be assessed for induction as my last baby was born before we got to the hospital.

He said I'm very favourable and gave me a sweep. I'm 4 cm dilated just now. Said I'll be very quick labour. Easy is what he said lol.

Can't get booked for an induction until Saturday. Midwife says no chance I'll take that long. Having been having either strong braxton hicks or mild contractions since then.

Waiting game commences....

GunShotResidue · 23/05/2016 18:48

That sounds very positive Outnumb3red!

I'm very jealous of all of you with things happening! I'm 40+4 today, DD was born at 40+5 but I think this one will later. They won't do a sweep here until 40+7, then a repeat at 40+9 before they'll consider an induction. Hoping to give birth before 40+7 as I have to take DD to the appointment and I'm not sure if they'll do a sweep with her there.

Outnumb3red · 23/05/2016 19:06

They don't normally induce here till you're 40+14. But I was really worried I'd have a quick labour again and not make it to hospital. So they said they'd induce me so that at least is be in the hospital when it happened. Looks like I'll be doing the mad dash again. DC2 was born in our car and delivered by me.

clashofclanswidow · 23/05/2016 20:54

Reading all these posts keeps getting me oddly excited. I'm due my S&S on Friday and I'm actually looking forward to it...I never thought I'd say that!

Bump has been so uncomfortable this afternoon though! I think baby has dropped very low and where she is now sitting is stretching my tummy muscles - ouch. DD1 was back to back so never had this first time!

It's hurt to do anything but sit haha so I hope she either shifts her bum a bit or she comes soon! Grin

frozensmoothie · 23/05/2016 21:04

Another slightly nightmarish day trying to establish breastfeeding. Baby just constantly wants the breast when she is awake which is most of the day and night. It's constant with no break at all. In desperation I sent DH out to buy a Media swing pump, hoping that it would help to relieve the constant baby stuck to breast 24/7. However I've only managed to pump a few tiny drops. I'm wondering if I have a supply issue and thats why she is constantly on the breast as she can't get satisfied.

Midwife came over this morning but was pretty useless with bf support. I mentioned about possible tongue tie given I'm finding the latch so hard but she said as she can stick her tongue out she doubts she has it but I can take her to the breastfeeding clinic for them to check. It's not until Friday though and not sure I can wait that long!

She has put on 100g from the weight she lost after birth so they're not worried but I am!! Feeling desperate now Sad

Outnumb3red · 23/05/2016 21:36

Aw frozen, main thing is that she is putting on weight so she is obviously getting what she needs from you.

Sorry, can't remember when baby was born - has your milk came in yet? You won't be able to express properly if it hasn't. Also, stress is counter productive, and easy as it is to say, but try to relax. You need to make sure you are eating and drinking plenty. Food in, food out. Porridge, oaty type foods are good for your milk production.

I remember when trying to establish feeding with DC1, it was hard going initially. Make sure you holding baby in a way that is comfortable to you, even if it isn't the way you were 'told' to.

This website is really helpful kellymom.com

Be gentle with yourself xx

Everythinggettingbigger · 23/05/2016 21:36

Wow outnumbered good luck your baby could be here anytime by the sounds of it!

Not sure if I've had a contraction or a very strong bh.....waiting to see if it happens again but I doubt it I'm not holding my breath!

Frozen don't stress yourself out your mental state is what's important, a fed baby is all that matters. I hope you get sorted soon Flowers

GrouchyKiwi · 24/05/2016 09:01

Our little girl was born at 4.33 this morning - on my due date. DD2 is now very helpfully unpacking my hospital bag onto my bed.

Will share birth story later.

TristanlovesIsolde · 24/05/2016 10:21

Congratulations Groucy!

Had my sweep this morning and midwife said I was 1cm dilated so hopeful that it will move things along. Just the waiting game now…

Induction booked for 30th if nothing before then.

ODog · 24/05/2016 10:38

Congratulations grouchy.

Please don't question your supply frozen. If baby is gaining weight then it's likely to be fine. My DS was very similar. Almost constant feeding with very little sleep. I don't think anyone saw his face for a few months. It's quite normal. Just exhausting and draining. I found that embracing the feeding and just setting myself up with tv, snacks, drinks etc helped rather than constantly trying to 'fix' it.

Had a scary day yesterday as we ended up back in hospital with DD as she was breathing really fast and had a temperature. They had to put a cannula in her little hand and give her a lumbar puncture but so far all tests have been clear and and she is much better already. Going to be here another night to wait on further tests but fingers crossed we will be home tomorrow.

GunShotResidue · 24/05/2016 11:25

Congratulations Grouchy!

ODog that sounds terrifying. Glad she's getting better and they're taking it seriously.

Some period type pains this morning and last night but still nothing much. Emotionally and physically exhausted dispite only being 40+5 today!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 24/05/2016 12:28

Congratulations grouchy, amazing!

Everythinggettingbigger · 24/05/2016 12:28

Congratulations Grouchy!!

Oh dear ODog that sounds a bit frightening! Glad all the tests are clear!

Gun anything else happening yet?

Due date for me today but nothing more than the back ache and pains I've been having already!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 24/05/2016 12:47

And sorry I neglected to say Odog that sounds terrifying, glad you were seen and taken seriously though.

Icecappedpinetrees · 24/05/2016 13:13

Can I second that advice about feeding. Hold the baby how you are comfy and how your baby seems relaxed. Also if you're comfy and baby seems happy don't overthink it - my boobs are small, both my babies didn't "take a good mouthful of boob" and for weeks I stressed over the position of the nose and lower lip curl and I wish I hadn't. It's a bond between you and your baby that you build your own way.

ODog - your poor wee toot, what did they think it was? How terrifying.

Grouchy - congratulations!! Looking forward to hearing all bout it Flowers
