I know there's already a thread up for early Jan babies but couldn't see one for the rest of Jan (probably as I'm jumping the gun a bit here!).

This is my first proper pregnancy and I'm a planner by nature so I need some kind of place to talk about this so I don't drive my DP mad!

Bit about me:
I'm 28
This is baby number one
EDD 6th Jan.

Anyone else want to join me?

Hello, can I join in? I'm due no. 2 on 20th January.

MagpieCursedTea · 21/05/2016 17:00

Congratulations soundsystem!

redstrawberries101 · 21/05/2016 18:38

Anyone experiencing lower backache?

MagpieCursedTea · 21/05/2016 19:03

Yes, I had lower backache quite a bit early on and it still comes and goes. I also get pain down my bum into my leg. Googling scared me (I really need to stay away from Google) but I think it's all just part of the changes happening.

CarrotVan · 21/05/2016 19:13

Ive had another blood test and am now at 1590 (4+4) with an ultrasound tomorrow morning to check placement

redstrawberries101 · 21/05/2016 19:17

That's good carrot van, wishing yoy all the best!

Jodie1982 · 21/05/2016 19:36

Struggling to stay awake by 730pm. Once my older 2 children are in bed i'm curling up in bed, can't wait!!

BuffaloCustardbath · 21/05/2016 19:40

Congratulations soundsystem.
Good luck Carrot, I'll be checking in to hear about your little bean.

Blondie87 · 21/05/2016 19:47

I hope everything goes well carrot.

Yes Jodie- I fell asleep for two hours on the sofa this afternoon! DH was fantastic and looked our little boy. I'm wiped!

MagpieCursedTea · 21/05/2016 19:49

I also had a long afternoon nap today whilst DH distracted DS. They even tidied the living room!

FrakIsBack · 21/05/2016 21:03

I am totally not shopping. I mean I have 3 prams, a group 0 carseat plus an ERF that does group 0, a 123 and a high backed booster. I have about 2 bottles (we BF for a looooong time here) and sterilise the old fashioned way. My Ameda lactaline pump is going strong. The snuzpod lasts forever so DD will be into a big girl bed by the time we actually need a cot. I have one of each so clotheswise we're sorted (unless it's a boy, in which case he'll only have vests and sleepsuits or summer clothes, because DS was born in the tropics). Baby bjorn bouncer still going strong. Slings a-plenty (I run a sling library) and enough cloth nappies to do twins.

But then there are new, pretty wraps. And new cloth nappies. Oh who was I kidding when I said that everything I bought for #1 would be enough for #2 and that everything we have for #2 will be enough for #3. I'm sure there's stuff out there I don't even know I want yet!

As for lower backache, yep that's kicking in already here too :( along with the general early pregnancy absolutely knackeredness. No sickness yet, but touch wood I'll escape it this time as well. I only had a couple of bouts of nausea in my previous pregnancies.

Magpie if you're going for a Medela pump don't get the mini or the swing, they're open system and after about 6 months they look disgusting inside the motor...

MagpieCursedTea · 21/05/2016 21:10

I'd heard milk can get into the system. Our children's centre sell discounted swings though and it seems like a popular pump. Do you have any recommendations for better ones?

Jodie1982 · 21/05/2016 21:14

Mmmmmmm i'm in my favourite place, BED!!! Not looking forward to the full on night time peeing later on in pregnancy lol

Turnertime14 · 21/05/2016 21:28

Looking at today's comments there is so much to buy! (This is my 1st so I have nothing!) I'm currently more concerned with napping - staying awake a whole day is really hard!!

Extrapepperoni · 21/05/2016 23:10

Hi all! Just been catching up on 24 pages of posts!

Baby #1 for me - I'm 33 and 5+2 today - which puts my due date at 19th Jan! Got my BFP last Friday - bit of a surprise as we have been trying but thought the BD timing was off this cycle... especially because I got a BFN on Thursday morning and hence went on a big night out with work on Thursday night Confused - hopefully all will be well, staying on the straight and narrow now that I know!!

So far only symptoms have been twinges/cramping and sore boobs! Looking forward to staying up to date with all of you as we go through the year!

x

Ruggermonkey · 22/05/2016 01:24

Hi, can I join in? Due 12th Jan roughly, our first baby and am in total shock as been told I couldn't have children. Feel nauseous a lot of the time, and an achey lower back. Completely exhausted but also kind of wired. Looking forward to the next few months and people to share it with.

Kittykitty05 · 22/05/2016 08:14

Oh gosh where did yesterday go?! I was out at a conference from 7 till 7, got home after collecting the kids at half 8, they put themselves to bed (i hope) whilst I laid on my bed, then I just woke up just gone 8 today! Can't believe I was so wiped out, at least my two were able to sort themselves!

Turnertime14 · 22/05/2016 08:27

Congrats rugger - we're currently due date buddies!! (until dating scans anyway). Do you at least feel more rested now kitty?

Signoritawhocansway · 22/05/2016 08:45

Well, I plucked up the courage to actually POAS this morning and got a very strong positive. No more denial for me! Due date 25th January, second child after micro-preemie at 27 weeks last time. I'm feeling pretty weird about it.

MagpieCursedTea · 22/05/2016 08:52

Congratulations and welcome Rugger!

Congratulations on the positive signorita and for finding the courage to test. It's understandable that you're feeling a bit weird about it all, wishing you an uneventful pregnancy and birth!

Signoritawhocansway · 22/05/2016 09:15

Aw thanks Magpie - and for your earlier encouragement too. I am taking folic acid and vitamin D anyway. So far no real symptoms apart from slightly sore boobs and some vivid dreams.

Panicking a bit as I'm away on conference week after next then on a family holiday the week after that. Sickness kicked in around six weeks last time. I'm praying it won't be so bad this time.

CarrotVan · 22/05/2016 09:23

Magpie - I bf and expressed for a year with DS1. TBH which pump you need will depend on which one you find comfortable and how effective your breasts are at expressing. I was fine with just a very cheap Avent manual (often available in Aldi's baby events) and was expressing up to 40 oz a day (which is lots). There might be a bf support group or lactation consultant locally who you can ask for advice once the baby arrives and you've got FB established.

Extra - you'll be absolutely fine after your night out. Until the placenta takes over around 6 weeks there's no transfer of booze possible...

MagpieCursedTea · 22/05/2016 09:36

Carrot I run the local BF support group Grin I used the tommee tippee last time but I found it pretty uncomfortable. I've noticed medela seems to be most popular amongst the people I work with and as far as I know they do different sizes which is why I was considering it. I expressed for top ups last time and to build a stash. I fed DS for nearly 2.5 years but stopped expressing at around 6 months. Never managed anywhere near 40oz a day, that's some impressive expressing. I've also thought about getting a double pump but they're pretty pricey!

Signorita we recently went on holiday and I felt pretty sick through a lot of it but still managed to enjoy it. I just made sure I kept well hydrated and had regular rests. I hope your sickness stays at bay until after your conference and holiday!

Signoritawhocansway · 22/05/2016 09:50

Carrot with my little one in NICU last time, we invested in a freestyle Medela, which is a double pump. At the hospital they had Medela Symphony double pumps too. I really rate Medela. Also, with the freestyle we got a Medela Solitaire teat, which worked with our DS for feeding expressed milk. Some other teats we tried he didn't take to.

In the end, he was exclusively breastfed up until six months (and breastfed up until 13 months (we had to add in some high calorie prescription formula for his weight gain though).

Blondie87 · 22/05/2016 10:03

Congratulations Signorita, I can understand your concerns but here's to a happy and healthy 9 months.

I still don't quite believe I'm pregnant, I'm not seeming to let myself get too emotionally invested yet. I think I felt more 'pregnant' last time as I had cramps, sore boobs and nauseous whereas this time boobs are fine, I'm just tired and bloated so it feels like PMT even though period is over a week late! DH has ordered me some CBD tests as I kept flapping yesterday. I'm bang on 5 weeks so hoping to see 2-3 or 3+ when I use them. Although I blame the last CBD for my panic as I did it 4+1 and it said 1-2. I need perspective, I'm massively overthinking!!!

Congratulations extra. Try not to worry about the night out, most women don't know they are pregnant for a few weeks and drink. The risks are greater if you carried on throughout your pregnancy.
