It's all getting closer (panic, panic)

Moss brilliant news about your friend

No snow here but its freezing!

It's dds 4th birthday today so she has a trillion bobbles and clips in her hair and took a nutfree cake baked by Grandma into nursery. Party later and I'm not remotely prepared! (what's new)

Kitty I was told dd was small and I worried sick about it, she was 7 lbs 9oz and perfectly fine. I am sure there's nothing to worry about! (eat more fish ) Remember you cook 'em slow and your baby will get nice and fat at the end!

LunarSea · 25/01/2007 09:43

Spoke to a friend yesterday who has just had her 2nd (her first is only 2 weeks younger then mine). This one was a full 2lbs heavier than the first. Am panicing now that if that happens to me this one will be over 11lbs Ouch!

morocco · 25/01/2007 11:05

hi everyone
good to hear your news callie,I'm glad you're getting snuggles with jordie, he sounds so cute.
I'm doing fine but very very busy with other non baby stuff so it's all a bit of a whirl. last night I had a mad panic and have to get my act together for when this baby comes - eg actually buy some clothes, a cot mattress etc etc. We got given a pram with clip on car seat which is cool but extremely orange and I have a newborn sling lent to me as well. It's areally cosy, 'freedom' sling but my friends baby hated it so we'll see how dd does with it.
my mum might not be able to make it for before the birth now (she was going to rent a house nearby) so I'm madly trying to organise a doula and thinking of anyone who could babysit the kids. We don't know many people I could ask to come over in the middle of the night.
Panic!
Luckily, good news is my mum is fine and cancer has not spread to lymph nodes. Hurrah!
Also I feel much better. diagnosed anaemic a few weeks ago and the iron tablets have really perked me up. no 'side effects' either iykwim
love to all

sexkittyinwaiting · 25/01/2007 11:19

That's great news about your mum morocco, you must be SO relieved.

Lunar, all mine have been bigger than the last (so far), but the largest leap was 1lb. Mostly it's been about 1/2 lb. It wouldn't suprise me if this one is actually much smaller than the last. I know of people whose second children are smaller at birth than the first. You can't really tell

muppetisacat · 25/01/2007 11:22

Morocco - what a relief for you and your mum... nice to get some good news!

Eids - do c-sections really only take about half an hour? How can they do it that quickly?

bethoo · 25/01/2007 11:33

morning all. bloody freezing down here!
having a shit day but must think on it positively!
getting excited to meet my baby.
starting to think about letting go off dp as must prioritise myself and the baby over his whimsical needs. he is still looking for a job and i have always been supportive even if i did disagree with him at times. but at least we are on talking terms. miss the sex though! possibly more than actually missing him! feeling so sex starved and doubt i will pull now i have a football under my shirt though i was chatted up at the kebab van last night (my coat hides it well!). i was too naive to notice though! Damm.
still not got anything and must get stuff for my labour bag.
does anyone have pains in their tummy in the morning? i do not know if it could be braxton hicks or something else!
got a house inspection o ntuesday so off this afternoon to start mad dash around the house! think i will hitthe garden and bathroom today! woke up this morning with no cold water in the taps upstairs and the toilet with no water so hopefully it will be back on this afternoon. or i will have to not take iron tablets tonight!!!! one extreme to the other with them!

Rosylily · 25/01/2007 11:42

Morocco I'm delighted to hear that about your mum, brilliant.

My first was 9lbs 2, next 7lbs 9, next 8lbs 2, I'm presuming this one will be a bit bigger but don't know.....

Booboobedoo · 25/01/2007 11:49

Hi girls.

Great news Morocco! So very glad to hear your Mum is ok .

Having a bit of a mare with work. The woman I though I'd found to cover my maternity leave left a message last night to say she 'can't commit the time', so here I am - 5 and a half weeks off my due date - with no-one to teach my kids! It's my school so - if I don't get anyone suitable to cover for me - could end up losing the whole thing. Shit.

Been making frantic phone-calls all morning, and have a few tenuous leads. Fingers crossed.

Was supposed to meet Dolly today too. Sorry Dolly!

On another subject, why has no-one's back increased in size as much as mine? I've gone from a 32 to a 40 back. That's not normal, surely?

Boo, sorry to hear about the work situation, that's very stressful. Fingers crossed for you.
I've got very "fat back" atm and I know that pregnancy pushes my ribs out, so that would increase back size.

Muppet the actually cutting the baby out takes about 5 mins, before that you have to be got ready with spinal blocks etc , the stitching back up takes about 40 mins, but you don't really notice the time since you're all loved up with your new baby.

bethoo · 25/01/2007 12:03

booboo - we are all different. i am sure your increase in back size is normal. mine has increased and will probably increase when milk comes in. you are probably early.
Morrocco - great news about your mum, must be a huge relief.

bethoo · 25/01/2007 12:04

i thought c sections took 15 minutes from start to finish! how naive of me! must be all those american baby shows i watch, must relise it is notreal time etc what with the editing etc!

muppetisacat · 25/01/2007 12:15

Thanks for that Kitty. Did you actually get to hold your baby quite soon after? Did you feel any of the stitching up either?

AmieR · 25/01/2007 12:16

Hope we're all well!

Morocco - that's awesome news! I'm so pleased for you and your mum and the rest of your family.

Callie - so nice to hear baout Jordi's progress

Boo - I hope you get that sorted, sounds very stressful for you!

Eids - congrats on your date! Is it weird knowing when you're going to meet your LO, or does it make things a whole lot easier for you?

Severe lack of sleep is getting to me now. My eyes feel like sand everytime I blink.. My bathroom is where I seem to spend most of the hours between midnight and 6am! Can sleep soundly after 6am! WEIRD! but not useful when you have to be up shortly after that.

3rdTriMossTer · 25/01/2007 12:26

Morocco great news about your Mum that must be a relief for you.

Booboo sorry about your lack of replacement, I wish you the best of luck, I'm sure those leads will come to something!

Better go really busy in work today!!

YankeeFish · 25/01/2007 12:29

Bethoo - at about 30 weeks, I had muscle cramps across my stomach -not braxton hicks, as they lasted all day and were just like muscle cramps that I used to get when I ran a lot. My midwife said it was just the muscles in my stomach stretching. I had it back for a couple days (kept me up at night, very uncomfortable) but only feel them slightly, everyonce and a while now.

Booboo/Bethoo - all - how much bigger can I expect my chest to get once milk comes in? I have already gained 2 cup sizes - and am worried about getting some bigger nursing bras. I know it will all depend, so maybe I should just wait and send Mom out to buy.

Sunny here in Norwich now - all snow is melting .

LunarSea · 25/01/2007 12:31

Amie - are you going to Aquanatal tonight?

foxabout2pop · 25/01/2007 12:33

Aime I spent most of my time going for a pee last night too feel knackered today as a result and also overslep this monring (fell alseep at 5am, then alarm went off at 6am)

Boo - I'm sure you'll find a teacher...[fingers crossed for you]

Morocco - that's fantastic news about your Mum, you must be so relieved.

Kitty - has the Naseptin stared to work yet? I've noticed DS's skin and nose seemed to be clearing a bit this morning. I asked the GP why DS keeps getting impetigo and he said that children with dry skin get it; which is spooky as DS has very dry skin, which we have to moisturise so it doesn't end up like sandpaper.

Is your car seat a stage 1? We need to buy a new stage 2, as DD's is all torn now - one that will last to age 3/4.

I went to an ante natal class last night about "coping strategies" which was excellent. Learnt some new positions and actually leanrt what do do with a birthing ball LOL!

Has anyone ordered their TENS machine yet? Is it a month ahead they need to be ordered? (Can't remember). We hired them with DS and DD but strangley I've found one in our attic...wonder if I just forgot to send it back??

foxabout2pop · 25/01/2007 12:35

Yankee - I bought me nursing bras about this stage wwith both previous pregnancies. As long as you don't get a really tight one should be OK for some slight growth. When the milk comes in the boobies get huge and hard, but then settle down again after about three days to a more normal size.

YankeeFish · 25/01/2007 12:42

Thanks Foxy - I think I should be alright then, I also have some of those tank top type that will hold me over.

Anyone been exposed to Chicken Pox while pregnant? I just learned that the 14 month old we sat for last night has been tested + for chicken pox today. I have had them, so has dh - but people at work say you can get them twice.

I have mw appointment today anyway - for 34 wk check - so I will ask, but don't know if anyone has experience it.

AmieR · 25/01/2007 12:52

Lunar - I am indeed going for a splash! Just hope i can not need to get out every 15 mins for a pee!

I hope my boobies don't get too much bigger! my back hasn't changed at all but at 40 was big enough!

A sales rep just came in and was going on at me about sending my graphics for some stuff and I said well, no point sending them to me, I finish on friday (fingers crossed I can!) for maternity leave.. he looked at me and said "You're pregnant? You don't look it!"

AmieR · 25/01/2007 12:53

Can not need? LOL. Excellent use of the english language there!

divastrop · 25/01/2007 12:53

morocco-great news about your mum.i hope you can get something sorted for the birth.my mum is coming up from london the day before they induce me so i hope i dont go into labour before then or dp wont be able to be there.
i'm in a similar situation in that i have friend who i could maybe ask to pick up the kids from school and watch them for an hour or 2 but nobody i could ring at 3am or anything.

booboo-i hope you can find somebody to take care of things.

bethoo-dont worry you will have plenty of oppurtunity to pull after youve had the baby.i missed sex when i couldnt get any but now i'm too bloody tired to do anything by the time the kids have gone to bed

lunar-my 2nd was my biggest baby then they go smaller.

i took ds2 to the speech therapist this morning and she was making a follw-up appointment for him,she said'is march 15th ok?'i said 'erm,my baby's due on the 14th'and she said she didint even notice i was pregnant

33+1

divastrop · 25/01/2007 12:56

that was meant to say they got smaller

amie-just pee in the poolim sure all the kids do

sexkittyinwaiting · 25/01/2007 13:08

Well Diva and Amie, that makes me feel a bit better

Foxy naseptin was for me to kill any germs I have in my nose that I'm passing on to dd3. I haven't actually got impetigo at the mo. We all got it in 2003 when i was expecting dd2. It kept going round the family. In the end we all got some nose stuff that cleared us all up ( it wasn't naeptin though). DD3 is on oral antbiotics which she hates and spits back in my face (lovely).
Apparantly the impetigo you get on your face is slightly different to the stuff on arms and legs. DD3 has it this time on her calf. Ds1 had it first time round his nose. DD3 has ezcema and I think it gets in when she scratches the dry skin, which would fit what you've been told.

Muppet, I got to hold both my section babies within a couple of mins. They usually lift them over the screen and give you a quick look then take them to the ressusitaire and check them over, suck out mucus, check breathing etc. section babies can be a bit slower to breathe at first. Then if all is ok you get a cuddle. The problem is that you can't sit up and it is difficult to do cuddling and holding while they are stitching. I seem to remember that after a while my mun took the boys into the recovery room to wait for me to be sewn up.

sazzybee · 25/01/2007 13:23

yankee - my friend was in contact with a kid with chicken pox when she was very early and is consequently very clued up. The likelihood of any ill effects so late on is I think very slight, especially as you've already had it but if I were you I'd tell the MW anyway.

fox - that's good to know about the bra sizes. I feel a trip to Brent Cross coming on Where's good? Mothercare rather than M&S

bethoo - in my experience of being single throughout the entire pregnancy, the only men who've been interested have been peculiar 'i've never shagged a pregnant woman' types which I've found a bit offputting. So I haven't had so much as a snog. And I'm too immobile to do anything with anyone I don't know really well now!

3rdtrimosster - I would send you some snow only we've run out. Bloody cold though!
