The little sticky up part on the end (if I'm right that is!) attached photo explains the nub theory Smilexxx

Saw my midwife today, who made me cry because a)im exhausted and b)she was being really arsey with me. Anyway, one of the things she said to me was are you taking vitamin D. I said no and she really laid into me about how I should be taking it. Well, not being funny, but nobody told me I should be taking it. I took folic acid until 13 weeks like youre supposed to and had been taking it before conception, and that is all I knew about and all my first midwife told me about. Did everyone else get this memo?!

Afreshstartplease · 10/06/2016 20:09

My midwife did ask at booking app. I take a pregnancy multi vitamin when I remember and it's in that.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 10/06/2016 22:10

I don't know when the vitamin d thing came in but I know it wasn't a thing when I had my first and nobody ever mentioned it to me in pregnancies from 2010-14 although I know it was a thing by my 2013-14 pregnancy. I imagine with October babies we're quite well placed for vitamin d as the peak of sunlight is when we're 5-6 months.

Bluecarrot · 11/06/2016 12:20

I have everything from last baby (girl) and most equipment is unisex. Finding out tomorrow what sex it is, then I'll start dragging all the stored clothes out for a nosey. :)
Might even wash them while the weather is good, and have them all hanging/folded ready for baby!
Even started packing my hospital bag! ( got some ratty knickers from last time for when waters break, tena pants, laundry bag, coin purse with change, water bottle, toiletry bag/contents ( since travel size things on offer everywhere atm), little cloth nappies, wipes and wet bag, sling... Will add the sleeping gowns etc once washed.)
I might have had too much time on my hands recently....

Only thing I'll need to buy is vests/socks as didn't keep those last time, and I'll make a blanket once I know sex.

Afreshstartplease · 11/06/2016 13:11

Very organised Bluecarrot!

I am a shopaholic , I sold most of dds baby things too so need mostly new except cot and baby monitor

What size baby clothes are people buying?

Dd was 8Lb 6oz but she was a tight squeeze in next up-to one month stuff which has 10lb as the weight!

So far I've bought one pack of sleep suits in that size and the vest in up to 3 months which is I think 14lb as I'm fully prepared for this one to be 9lb or so

Afreshstartplease · 11/06/2016 13:12

Rest not vest

I haven't bought any vests actually

BadlyWrittenPoem · 11/06/2016 16:09

I think I have everything we need for the baby except a stretchy sling ( old one got a hole in it), monitor (old one died) and pillows/pillowcases (I find them helpful for feeding early on). I also need to buy some dye to dye some old white muslins a nice colour. And buy a car as the current one will be too small!

climbingcheesecake · 11/06/2016 19:37

I feel really disorganised after reading that carrot!

Should I be packing a bag already? what goes in it? I really don't know what I need at all.
Is anyone doing reusable nappies? We are thinking about it.

FuzzyOwl · 11/06/2016 21:14

Hello and welcome jojo.

I was told to take vitamin d this pregnancy during my booking in appointment but I don't remember it being mentioned last year with dd. Am currently taking pregnacare most days and enjoying lounging about in the sunshine.

We use washables cheesecake Smile We also do EC so I don't know much about the high absorbency and avoiding leaks aspect but can probably answer other questions about them. We usually buy a pack or two of disposables for the early days so that we don't have so much washing to keep up with in the initial crazy bit.

Bluecarrot · 11/06/2016 23:41

0-3m is s good bet, then if you have a small baby you can nip out to buy more stuff. I like the sleeping gowns for ease of nappy changing ( no poppers) in early days and they are fairly flexible in size.

Most people don't pack their hospital bag til they are in the last month or so, but I'm not using any of the stuff so figured I might as well throw it in the bag!
With my first I packed after my waters had gone ( 2 weeks early), second I packed 3 weeks before due date and was induced 10 days over!

We use cloth nappies. Think best option is to see if you have s local cloth nappy library or advice group. Different types suit different babies and families. I love our bumgenius for slimness, ease of use and containment but after 2.5 years of use in a large rotation some of them are leaking as elastic is rubbish. I've a few brand new ones I'll keep aside for this baby but will need to look into alternatives to top up the stash.

Afreshstartplease · 12/06/2016 07:01

I won't pack until last month or so. My earliest so far was 11 days early so no rush there.

I'm hoping to decorate pretty much my entire house before October so will be busy doing that!

Havetobecrazytolivehere · 12/06/2016 20:31

I don't usually start getting stuff ready until after 30 weeks but have just been picking up the odd bit here and there. I hate to run out of jobs and my babies tend to be late so I ration the washing and packing, getting all the equipment ready to one task a week, I am a obsessive list maker so have it all scheduled in.
This time however we are hoping to have the builders in to complete our loft conversion so my plans of decorating throughout have become lets just hope the house is ready so I can have baby at home!
Still on a massive decluttering spree so there is less to move for the builders, except for the loft full of baby stuff I brought in the last two months whoops!

Kariana · 13/06/2016 07:27

I haven't even thought about packing one yet. Still seems ages away! We're hoping to move house in the next couple of months though so I've started decluttering over the weekend. Won't be buying too much till after the move, especially not the big stuff!

Figgygal · 13/06/2016 12:46

24 weeks tomorrow just remembered not had the blood results back from my 16 week apt yet which were testing to see if baby was rhesus + or - (I am negative and so might need Anti-D) MW said it might be 3 weeks or so but its been 8 so going to have to chase them aren't I!!

I am still so not on board with this whole baby thing I fully expect to run late like I did with DS, we have to move house in next month or so and it wont be until then when all the stuff we have from DS comes out of the loft will I remember what we have and then what we need. I know we need car seats as a minimum as don't have either of the Group 0 ones we had last time.

elliej83 · 13/06/2016 23:02

Going to catch up on the thread properly tomorrow but saw the nub theory and thought oooo ill look at our scan... Turns out the baby is nubless! Oh no!!!

Kariana · 14/06/2016 18:04

I couldn't find a nub on any of my scans Ellie! He's definitely a boy though!

Alice1209 · 15/06/2016 15:42

Hi guys

Can anyone recommend where I can find out about aqunatal, Pilates and yoga classes in my area? Is there a thread on mumsnet that is more suitable?

Afreshstartplease · 15/06/2016 18:38

22 weeks today

I must have had a growth spurt as normal clothes which had still fit me suddenly don't!

Havetobecrazytolivehere · 15/06/2016 21:52

I went out and brought a really nice roomy maxi dress on the weekend and it's rained ever since!

TeaGirl3 · 15/06/2016 22:15

I know what you mean Fresh. My bump seems so much bigger this week (also 22 weeks) and my belly button is almost becoming flat!

LillianFullStop · 15/06/2016 22:36

afreshstart and tea - I'm 21+3 and I'm the same! Everyday looks bigger than the day before and my belly button looks like it's smiling!!!

Afreshstartplease · 16/06/2016 06:23

I'd love to wear Maxi dresses , unfortunately I am FAR too short.

My work clothes are the biggest issue this week I've had to give up on two pairs of trousers, so now I have leggings and elasticated waist trousers

Afreshstartplease · 16/06/2016 06:29

Oh and I'm now looking at starting maternity leave on 29/8 at 32ish weeks. I will gradually reduce hours until then. Reaching this date would be an achievement for me anyway TBH
But that gives my end of paid leave as end of May and then I'll have holidays built up I can use. I'm also contemplating asking about term time only hours as holiday care for four DC will be extortionate
