Anyone else finding their brain has completely addled? Earlier on today I genuinely couldn't remember what day of the week it was, and eventually settled on Thursday. Disappointment to remember it's actually Monday!

34 weeks today!

BelOfTheBall79 · 16/05/2016 17:36

Youandme I wish it was Thursday! I am really struggling with words. I normally have a pretty good vocabulary but at the moment I start a sentence and either use completely the wrong word or can't think of the right word at all. Not good in important meetings at work...

BelOfTheBall79 · 16/05/2016 17:37

Thom you defo deserve a moan! And that's what this group is for Cake

BelOfTheBall79 · 16/05/2016 17:42

Sorry for multiple posts but am v excited that I ordered baby's pram today. We'd been deliberating for ages as DH has been quite particular! Then when we finally ordered I got a note from the shop saying we wouldn't get it until mid August and was that OK? Errrrrr NO! But went to manufacturer direct and they gave me the number of a shop they thought would have stock sooner and thank goodness they do! So all set now. I was NOT looking forward to going back to the drawing board with DH on that. It's basically my last purchase and we have all the other stuff sorted to arrive this week so now feeling pretty prepared stuff-wise and still feeling petrified birth wise and re what comes next!

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 16/05/2016 18:19

I also think I might have a baby foot wedged in my rib cage. Not fun.

Thom80 · 16/05/2016 18:31

speaknowords, tams, bel & coffee - thank you for your support & listening to the pity rant! I am feeling better. I will definitely give them a call. The drug about stays in your system for 6 months and restricts blood flow / blood vessel growth, which is why it is damaging to the baby. It is question of risk, so need to work out what is greater. Spoke to my OH as he was about to board a train to Manchester and he decided to come home given the news today. So I get my OH and my mum is coming over! Bonus.
bel - exciting about the pram, which one did you go for?

Thom80 · 16/05/2016 18:32

P.s I feel embarrassed as I cried at work when they asked me how my apt went! I am sure they think I am emotional wreck!! Although they were lovely and very sympathetic!

birchybaby2 · 16/05/2016 19:03

Oh bless you Thom, here's the place to have a rant and express your worries. Ultimately you need to be well to look after the baby. Hope you enjoy your evening.
Been a good mummy and had whooping cough jab today. Arm a bit tender, have to see if it gets worse. I also think little feet are moving under my ribs. He's been very active today and made me uncomfortable. Xx

Bluebell20 · 16/05/2016 19:13

Bel looking forward to the nursery pic! Sounds cute. And goodness me, well done on the organisation if baby stuff purchasing!

Jem mmmmm that cake looks soooo tasty. Loving the ombre icing! I have had an itch to bake today and that has just about pushed me over the edge!

Beautician the birthday party sounds fun! Thanks for the info about baby's head - I think that is what has gone on as I am not peeing as frequently any more. I'm not on the fb page because I don't have an account!

Cookies I can't believe you are still teaching those fitness classes. You are one hardcore mama!

Fifi sounds like discharge to me but if you are worried, ring the midwife!

Thom I am so sorry you have to deal with so much. I don't blame you at all for crying on the bus. The advice about checking about the drugs and breastfeeding risk sounds good. However, please don't beat yourself up if it does turn out that you can't. Plenty of babies are raised healthily on formula - myself included - and as an added bonus, formula fed babies tend to sleep through the night earlier! So glad that your OH is coming home.

YouAndMe that is hilarious! I am pretty spacey too at the moment, but that is a classic!

Don't think I said on my post earlier but I had a terrible night's sleep. Baby was quite quiet yesterday movement-wise, and then he barely moved during the night, when I am used to feeling him banging around down whichever side I'm lying on. I was awake half the night worrying, in two minds as to whether to just get up and go to hospital.

Anyway in the morning the alarm went off, I spoke to DH about maybe having to go to hospital first thing - at which point the baby starting kicking like mad, for ages! I was so relieved! But utterly wiped out. I was supposed to be editing a third of a book today and all I have managed is 25 pages because I had to have three naps! Glad to report that baby boy was very busy while I was trying to nap, too...

In other news, anyone else found that their constipation issue has eased? I never thought I would be so delighted by my ability to do a speedy poo!

GoingLoopyQuickly · 17/05/2016 03:59

Fifi someone told me waters smell like "spunk" (to quote them). I wasn't sure what they meant (I am little miss prude but a bit less so since having a baby) until my waters went amd them it was a very distinct smell. Also, waters are definitely watery and the plig is definitely a big mass of snot. This is why I have a good stock of tena pants. They beat maternity pads hands down for when the business starts to when the post labour bleeding stops.

Thom. I am sorry you have these decisions to make. But remember you are no good broken. So put your gas mask on first.

Thistledew · 17/05/2016 08:57

They let me come back home yesterday, which was great. I pretty much flaked out for the whole afternoon, so apologies for not updating.

The negative news is that they are concerned that my placenta is still very low lying. The Sonographer said it was 'borderline', but wasn't clear as to whether it is still covering the cervix or just very close to it. Baby's head was in the way so she was struggling to get a good view.

The outcome is that I will have to see the consultant for a scan next week, and a decision will be made then whether I will have to have a c-section. I'm really hoping that I will not have to as I have strangely been looking forward to giving birth, but of course the priority is a healthy delivery for both of us, whatever the outcome.

I'm just 31 weeks now on the official dates, and 30+4 on my own calculations. They say the placenta is unlikely to move after 32 weeks so I have still a small chance that it will shift the final bit. I'm off for some acupuncture later - I have no idea if it will really make a difference but have reacted well to it in the past for various things and at least it makes me feel I am doing all I can.

The other news is that my hayfever and asthma has really flared up in the last few days, so I need to work at getting that settled, which will hopefully make me feel a little better in general.

Ellizardo · 17/05/2016 12:51

Thistledew - so pleased you're out and about now, and crucially, on their radar for being checked regularly. You seem to have it all in good perspective too re: c-section. At least there's time to prepare yourself for that eventuality vs. a sudden emergency.

Sorry to hear about hayfever. I too came down with a massive coughing fit on the phone to my brother this morning - turns out I was standing near a plane tree and their pollen is a total bloody nightmare for wedging in your throat and choking you. Can we take oral antihistamines when pregnant? (Just being lazy and not googling, sorry!).

Jem - that cake looks well nice! Bluebell, like you was inspired and made some fresh pear gingerbread which mainly tastes ok though slightly overcooked on top (following the recipe time - it really annoys me when recipes haven't been copy-edited or fact-checked properly, grrr).

Thom - hope you spent a lovely night together with nearest and dearest. What a rigmarole to have to deal with, poor you! As bluebell also attested, formula ain't all bad: I mix fed Teddy and could not recommend it enough.

Had whooping cough vaccine today too. After the Anti D behemoth, this one was a walk in the park!

thom don't be embarrassed about crying - all pregnant women do it at some point! Glad it worked out in the end last night. Re breast feeding I didn't BF DD1 and she's never poorly, has no skin condition or allergies/asthma (something I've always suffered with so was really conscious about trying to prevent my children from suffering from). It was due to complications post birth and having surgery and I felt like I failed. But it's made no difference to her heath etc. I don't know if this helps but honestly I don't worry about it now at all.

Thanks bluebell I don't feel it, just feel v tired! Well done for napping, sometimes you just need to and if you can then you must! Dd2 has other ideas this afternoon and i'm devastated. Always happy to hear about victorious poos! Mine has gone also, but I'm sure it's because I sacked off my vitamins Blush but I'm so regular again I can't give that up!

going haha absolutely brilliant. Waters do have a specific smell but given it was several years ago I've forgotten the specific. My plug was a huge 50p size blob of snot. Gross gross gross. I think I'm tempted to treat myself to some Tena pants this time!

Very tired today. And sciatica is back. I don't think I'm visiting the chiropractor frequently enough as the results slip every time before my next appointment Sad which is really upsetting. But work doesn't allow the correct appointment schedule Sad

thistle best of luck with your acupuncture, and that the rescan shows some movement. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry if you do end up needing a section. Sometimes the decision does just get taken out of our hands, and you have a great attitude towards it. Hope youve managed to get some rest.

elliz I'm not sure about antihistamines. I have a feeling I have had some before during pregnancy but they were prescribed if I did

GoingLoopyQuickly · 17/05/2016 14:10

Thistledew. I am suprised they are making a decision this early. Perhaps ask for a check at 36 weeks to confirm. 36 weeks is the time where secer4of us had the double check from my mn group in my last pg.

But c section isn't the end of the world.

FifiRebel · 17/05/2016 17:17

Tube has only loaded half the thread so I have a bit more to catch up on. Want to discuss bugaboo with whoever brought it up before!

Cookies - you teach a weight class?! That is so impressive particularly at this stage too! Hats off to you - you'll have to give us all some tips on exercises when we've had our babies

Speaknowords, beautician, dats, cookies, bluebell, loopy (v amused at spunk comparison) - thanks so much all for reassurance on my waters issue. I only had one episode (if that's the right word) yesterday and another today. I think it's discharge too but I'm such a worrier. I'm in London atm which always makes me panic more as I hate the thought of needing to go to hospital here for anything (got admitted v v early on for suspected ectopic and it took ages for anyone to come and keep me company). I am going back home tomorrow afternoon so will call assessment unit if I'm still concerned.

Thom - not a pity party at all, sounds like a tough situation. It must be tough not being able to BF when you'd like to but most important thing is your health. I have cried on the bus in London many times when not pregnant (and when pregnant actually!) if that makes you feel better 😀

Bluebell - yep no constipation here either but definitely have the opposite problem now!! Think I prefer that though

Thistle - really glad to hear you're back home! Sounds like you have a good attitude to the c-section despite it not being ideal.

What are everyone's movements like at the moment? I've definitely noticed a difference the last week or so. I feel more general movement but less specific kicks and jabs. Just feels like something is happening.

29+5(can't wait to join 30 club)

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 17/05/2016 17:25

Obstetrician told me oral antihistamines are fine. Loritadine for preference (Boots own brand once a day are this) but cetirizine is OK as well. May not have spelt either of those properly!

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 17/05/2016 17:28

In other news from me, I've got my growth scan tomorrow (although consultant didn't seem very concerned about bump size as it is only 1.5-2cm over). I've also been started on a very small amount of insulin from bedtime tonight: my fasting blood sugars are borderline and keep creeping over the acceptable level, even with metformin. Bit of a pain, but I'm not really bothered. Whatever works. Still on track for an induction at 39 weeks.

34+1

FifiRebel · 17/05/2016 17:31

I didn't know that typing things with asterisk either side makes it bold!!! Blush

Lulabells · 17/05/2016 18:28

Neither did I Fifi! Thanks for the tip!

This third trimester is becoming a bit of a struggle now as my back is becoming really painful especially at night. Can't believe I've still got 10 weeks to go and a house move in the middle of it all!

In other news I farted last week and wet myself (no idea how ... I didn't even need a wee!). Oh and I came home from work to find a spider in the kitchen and cried for about an hour afterwards when DP refused to come home from work and evict it for me. Pregnancy is all its glory!!!

FifiRebel · 17/05/2016 18:47

Aw Lulabells that's awful!!! I must admit I am giggling slightly but what a pain. Pregnancy has so many wonderful surprises eh.

I am exactly same with spiders. Found two in my flat the other day and had a meltdown. Had a sob and had to wait until my mum was free to come over and deal with it before I could go to sleep Blush

FifiRebel · 17/05/2016 18:49

I also ordered a load of stuff off amazon that's supposed to repel spiders. Peppermint oil, citronella candles, a fly screen for vents...then one crawled right in front of me when I was on the loo. It was a daddy long legs type rather than thick spider so I managed to whack it then Hoover up!

MrsRolly · 17/05/2016 18:53

Hey ladies,

Thistle glad you are home!

31 weeks here and hit a wall of exhaustion today! Busy weekend so not much rest and work is still very full on, slightly regretting my decision to work until 37.5 weeks. Was supposed to have had a 3 month handover for maternity as requested by SLT but hr delays mean we are only interviewing this Friday. Have my fingers crossed there is a surprise gem in there as application forms not giving me greatest confidence Confused how is everyone else's maternity covers coming on for those that need them?

Does anyone have a Tula sling? I have seen a lovely second hand one for a reasonable price and I know I can't use it straight away but it is oh so pretty.

Thom that sounds really tough. Think I would have had a little cry as well so don't feel bad!

Our nursery is nearly done been a hectic month full of workmen but out the other side now good luck to those that are moving!

Thinking about packing a bag for hospital soon, have to go away for work week after next only overnight and will be 33 weeks so should be ok! Will terrify my colleague if I rock up with a hospital bag but not sure if it's irresponsible not to take one!

Thistledew · 17/05/2016 20:30

I would check antihistamine tablets with your GP or Pharmacist. I think they are generally not recommended, but if you are desperate Loratadine is the least risky, which is a bigger for me as I have an adverse reaction to it. I am trying to make do with nasal sprays and eye drops. I agree with whoever said about the Plane trees (sorry, I'm on my phone and can't scroll back)- the pollen is vicious. I'm not looking forward to the centre of London tomorrow.

Thistledew · 17/05/2016 20:40

GoingLoopy - that is useful to know regarding the C-section. I might push for a rescan later on if things are at all borderline.

Does anyone know what week they would normally schedule a c-section if they really don't want you going into labour? I might need to think about ending work a little earlier.
