thistle - hope everything is ok & you are back home soon. I know hospitals are horrible places, I have downy far too much time in them both as an inpatient & outpatient, but they are looking out for you & your baby. I would definitely get your OH to bring in food etc.
jem - I hope the results are ok. I am really pleased that I had two days off and feeling
much brighter. I saw my mum & had a lovely
time.
fifi - your bump is so neat, I am due the same day & you look much neater than me.
I constantly need the toilet and feel swollen down there. The baby was breech at my last scan 2 weeks ago but have another scan on Tuesday, an early 30 weeks scan, so it will be intetesting to see if the position has changed.
Has any one on the thread looked at the bugaboo chameleon? I am still undecided but need to make a decision soon.

FifiRebel · 15/05/2016 21:10

Glad to hear we're all in the same boat with pressure / sore foof / constantly needing the loo Grin

Thom I have a second hand bugaboo Cameleon, I haven't got around to putting it up yet though (have done it once since I bought it with the help of a friend). It looks beautiful but I'm in denial about learning how to use it

GoingLoopyQuickly · 15/05/2016 21:41

AnnaT. The pain is a shooting type pain but comes in and out like a contraction ( whicj I know it isn't). It is right under the bump so I reckon it might be ligaments stretching but I will call the mw tomorrow for an opinion.

Thistledew - you seem to be going through exactly the same as I did with pg 1. I had an anterior placenta partially covering the cervix. I think it got kicked (headbutted) a few times too many and made the bleeding happened. But it moved out of the way by 36 weeks and all was fine. Better to catch a hemorrhage early than late.

If you have no spotting they should let you go home tomorrow but if you do get more blood please tell them and expect to stay in overnight. I definitely know about being close and wanting to self discharge but as your other half rightly says: it ain't about you, it is about the baby. Just try to rest and when you do get home, keep things calm. It will be all fine.

Rubytuesday2980 · 15/05/2016 21:50

Eek, must remember to catch up daily, so much happens!

Goingloopy and Cookies thanks for swaddle advice, guess this is a decision to make later and I can see what temp is like.

Also, cookies re:feeding covers, am trying the jersey infinity scarf style as my SIL had some and they look quite comfy and light. Have bought the fabric to bake my own (v easy and lots of videos on Pinterest etc) as was much cheaper than buying ready made.

miniegg completely get the unwanted advice thing, have been practicing my best polite smiles...

cheeky congratulations, take care of yourself x

bluebell would like to know more about the reusable nappies, have been tying to decide whether to go reuseable or disposable. Are they practice with not much drying space and no tumble dryer?!

Thistle try not to get too frustrated, it's no fun being in hosp, but they want the same as you - to make sure everything is ok and you and the baby are fine. Deep breaths xx

Thom we also have a secondhand Chameleon that we bought from done friends, they showed DH how to work it, I have no idea! I like the size of the carrycot for when baby is little, not too cramped. Fifi have you looked into replacement mattresses at all? It's been in an attic for a year.

We've spent this afternoon moving all the baby stuff we have so far into the nursery, which DH finished painting last week. So lovely to see it all in there and can't be bothered to go to work tomorrow, just want to go out and get the other bits we need!

Thank you all for the warm welcome xx

AnnaT45 · 15/05/2016 22:07

Hi ruby!

Forgot to say I never used a breastfeeding cover with DD. I did best under top trick. I know it's summer this time round but I'll prob not be out much for the first month as recovering from section so can just gave my boobs out at home ha ha! A scarf works well to cover up but I found the more layers the more tangled you become!

jem I hope your scab goes ok. I know so many people who have been told baby us too big/small and the opposite is true! I think it's hard for them to tell.

going I get those! I'm faulty certain it's ligaments but check with the midwife maybe?

We've got a Cameleon 3! Love it! It's a great pushchair and really easy to put up and down, just practice before you take it out. I had to get on YouTube with my mum in John Lewis car park my first time out without DH Grin I plan to get a double and keep Cameleon as I think DD may like a buggy board so going to try one out with her. Can use that for short trips to park etc and double for days out so they can both sleep.,

Anyone else keep forgetting how big their bump is? I've knocked mine twice today already underestimated my width!!!

Hope everyone had good weekends, not long till some of you start Mat leave! Eeeeekkkkkk!!!!

GoingLoopyQuickly · 15/05/2016 22:21

Thanks AnnaT. It seems logical because I think I am starting to get BH too but they just feel weird and don't hurt. It is all change isn't it.

My bump is definitely in the way. I have now concluded I can no longer contort myself to epilate my bikini line and will book in a waxing. I have to add that it is only since I started epilating that I have been able to feel all over tidy because I only need to do it every couple of weeks. But I do need to be able to see what I am doing.

What I do find amusing is that my desk at work is the "aisle" seat in a group of four. So when the lady behind me is at her desk too the two with the "window" seat are struggling more and more to get by as I get bigger. We are starting to talk about swapping desks as soon noone is going to get by ever.

29+3 here and growing.

dats · 16/05/2016 00:55

Evening mamas!

Thistle and Thom are we due date buddies? I'm 31w today (it's still Sunday according to my body clock!).

Thistle so sorry you're stuck in hosp, how have you been doing today? Hope scan all good in the morning and you can make your escape.

GoingLoopy curious pains they sound. I've not had anything like that, hope midwife can shed some light. Does sound ligamenty.

Bluebell hooray for chucking out the chintz (I know it's not really chintz but it's such a great word!). It's such a good feeling getting stuck in. Ooh I've nearly gone and knitted a whole tiny hat!!! It's not a blanket, I admit but I'm having problems finding cotton yarn in a good green having finally favourited a few patterns on Rav. Hat is Rowan summerlite DK cotton in a really nice yellow but at £4.50 for about 2.5cm I don't know if I can justify a whole blanket! How are the hexagons coming on??

Fifi lovely bump! Natural to have first time nerves - I've got second time ones but they're a bit different this time round. First time I'd never held a newborn, or changed a nappy. I just kept saying 'all I've got to do is keep it alive, right? It can't be that hard' Grin It's all such a whirlwind that you just get on with it. Def practice with the equipment, though!

Anna how's DD's sleep, are you making some progress?

We picked up DD's second hand cot bed on Fri, it's great. Still got to finish her bedroom, though. One weekend, I said. It's now been three and finally at the point where we can wash all the walls down for some paint. Except now it's bloody Monday again! In a couple of weeks we're having some building work done and then a new kitchen. Which we're fitting ourselves (not the science parts). It wasn't meant to be this close to the wire but at this rate I might have to delay my mat leave because it'll prob be more relaxing at my desk than a building site! I feel for you guys moving house - the frustration of not quite knowing when it's all going to happen.

On the subject of feeding covers (or feeding tents as me and my NCT friend call them) I tried one out the first time I bf in public - which was an unexpected emergency as I was going to to go home (I was in a cafe) and something clicked and I thought, no sod this I need to get over myself. So my friend said to try her tent and we had such a laugh because it was flipping impossible to be discreet with this giant floral bib over me, plus I couldn't see her mouth (DD's, not my friend's!) my boob or what my crappy latch was doing, so no one was happy and I was flapping it all over the shop to the point where I was like oh ffs, get this chuffing marquee OFF MEEEE GrinGrinGrin

Scarves ftw!

Less palatably, my foof swings (so not literally #attractive) between feeling swollen and like the world is about to fall out and merely bruised. Still fairly sure from movement that the thing is breech so it's obviously got massive feet that it's booting everything down with. Second growth scan a week tomor I think? so will find out then.

Bum, I really need to sleep.

Oh Cookies don't feel down about your squats, I think you're amazing for even managing stuff still - truly! I about managed to cut the grass today (not a euphemism)!

Nunight!
dats 31w going on 86

Bluebell20 · 16/05/2016 07:30

Ruby thus is my first baby so I am a washable nappy novice too! I imagine it would be okay in summer for drying without a tumble dryer, but you might struggle in winter? What I would suggest you do is get in contact with your local nappy library. The one near me has a £10 joining fee, and then you can hire a set of nappies for another few quid to try out a range of brands and see whether or not they work for you. I was planning on doing this until my colleague told me she had a set of second-hand SmartiPants for sale - at which point I practically bit her hand off!

Thanks also for the info on the jersey infinity scarf - definitely going to whip up one of those!

Anna I am constantly knocking my bump! I am 12 inches larger around the middle than I was pre-pregnancy - and my brain hasn't got used to that yet!

dats top work on the hat! Post a pic when you're done! God yeah, quality yarn is so expensive. The blanket is coming on slowly, but my goodness those hexagons are guzzling wool - I need to order some more white before my holiday, as ideally I would like to finish it then!

tams13 · 16/05/2016 08:26

Wow I feel like I've missed so much over the last few days.

missing really scary situation for your oh's cousin. Glad they're all doing well now though.

cheeky congratulations! Really pleased for you and fingers crossed you have an event free and easy pregnancy.

Welcome ruby.

Glad you're reaching the end of your project now cheery. You must be knackered from it all! I've got seven weeks left in work (carrying on until 38 weeks) and it feels like forever.

bluebell good job on the clearing out. Sounds like a productive weekend. Know what you mean about the weeing and waddling though. My sister came to visit this weekend and told me I was walking like a pregnant lady.

thistle I've got everything crossed for you. Hope the bleeding settles down so you can go home soon. At least you're in the best place so they can keep an eye on you and the pesky placenta.

Gorgeous pic fifi!

BelOfTheBall79 · 16/05/2016 08:32

Thistle how are you doing today? Hope all is well and you can be discharged. But if not then as others have said, you are in the best place.

Jem keeping fingers crossed for your results.

I think I've hit the point of no return with uncomfortable sleep now. Even my big snake pillow doesn't seem to be helping! Ah well...it's good training for after the birth I guess (DH also made this comment). Has anyone been sleeping sitting more upright? Might try napping in the day which I've not really done yet.

Cookies don't be down about the squats. Can't believe you were still able to do them last week! I can barely climb the stairs. You'll be in great shape for the birth and hopefully ping back afterwards!

DH and I spent quite a bit of time in the nursery yesterday. We have a safari theme and we're sticking lots of monkeys on the walls. It's looking good although not finished yet. Will post a pic when all done!

Happy Monday...

minieggaddict · 16/05/2016 08:40

Ruby - I used washable nappies at home last time and do not have a tumble drier. I washed at 60 on a fast spin so they came out barely damp then hung on a couple octopus peg thingies (no idea how to explain what they are!) from Ikea. These hang off the door frames/curtain pole. Pegged them out when weather was good. Get some Napisan and good washing powder and they come out ok too 😊

Jem01 · 16/05/2016 08:56

Thanks cookie yes they measured baby at scan who is now larger than average and that's when they noticed the extra fluid. Expecting GTT results early next week so fingers crossed

fifi looking lovely!

Thistle sorry to hear you're still in hospital it's good they are monitoring you. Good luck for your scan today.

Anna that made me chuckle about the pram and YouTube! :-)

Yesterday hubby spent the afternoon getting the furniture set up in nursery and I spent it eating left over cake from my babyshower Grin

July 2016 Babies (8) - 3rd trimester here we come
Jem01 · 16/05/2016 08:57

Thanks Bel love your safari themed nursery! Mine has an animal theme t

Jem01 · 16/05/2016 09:02

Whoops posted too early! Mine has an animal theme, will post too as soon as it's all finished.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 16/05/2016 09:32

Cheeky congratulations. Fingers crossed for a super sticky bean this time.

Cookies thank you for the leg exercises it seems to be helping. Strangely my right foot is always a lot worse than my left Hmm

Ruby welcome and congratulations. I may swaddle baby if he isn't a great sleeper just in a thin cotton sheet but I've a feeling I'll get another hot baby so it may not be possible. I'm expecting ds4.

Bluebell highly likely that baby was head down if you felt the need to pee more frequently. However, at this stage they can pop in and out of head being engaged all the time. At my last midwife appt he was head down but he's definitely moved.

Going loopy strangely the last place my tummy stretches is at the bottom (underneath) so I'm just starting to get a stretchy pulling feeling there. It's possibly that or baby could have changed position and be sitting low causing the pain.

Fifi another one counting down to maternity leave. Mine starts on 13th June. So only 4 weeks. Eek. What a cute bump. You look great.

Thom we have gone for a Bugaboo Cameleon 2. I bought second hand. When baby is a bit older I intend to swap to the Bugaboo Bee but wanted a pram to start with.

Dats I love your posts they really make me laugh. I too feel like baby is about to try escaping out my foof half the time. However, this week he must have moved as I'm feeling a lot more comfortable. I even managed to dtd with DH. Wink

Jem that cake looks amazing. I've eaten far too much over the weekend.

Thistle so sorry to see you are stuck in hospital. I really hope all is well and you get home soon. Maybe some baby shopping online from your hospital bed will help.

We had a big birthday party here at the weekend. It was ds2s birthday on Friday he was 10 and on Thursday ds3 will be 3. So we had a joint birthday BBQ on Saturday and ds2 had some friends sleepover. I have eaten so much I feel massive. Lots of cake and sweets Sad

Is everyone on the fb page now? It doesn't get very busy on there and I still can't keep up with who's who. Would it be better for others if it was made secret? I feel a bit nervous posting just in case.

32+3

Cookiesandcoffee · 16/05/2016 11:22

beautician I'm really pleased they have helped. I find they do I just don't always remember . Sounds like lots of birthday fun! You can't not have cake etc on birthdays. Even in our most health conscious state the Cookies Fam always indulge in way too much cake etc on birthdays! I think the Facebook group is private? But I'm a bit techno rubbish!

Talking of cake, that cake looks epic jem I can't believe some is even left. I would have eaten it all. Now I want cake.

Thanks bel I've gained a lot of extra weight/fat but I've been trying to keep weights going as long as possible to aid in a speedy recovery - from a fitness perspective as much as body. I don't want to feel like I've 'given up'. (I am still teaching a weights class that I'm now going to have to modify :( ) Your nursery sounds amazing, so cute. Can't wait to see pictures.

Talking of nurseries- mine is still a hollow wall/shell... Keep trying to point out to DH that baby is due 7 weeks today and I want it done YESTERDAY

bluebell those hexagons are worth it! So beautiful already, I'm beyond excited to see the final result.

dats really laughing at your grass cutting comment. Extra funny as when I cut our actual lawn the other day I made the comment that it looks about as good as my efforts of 'other' cutting! Grin it was about as hard work manoeuvring that mower as it was getting round my bump to even attend to my legs never mind anywhere else Blush

Also laughing at your breast feeding story! Marquee Grin so true, I can so imagine that happening to me and me flaffing round all over the place. I'm just going to have to suck it up this time. I nearly always fed at home last time as DD was very good at feeding and I could schedule my outings. I feel this time with a DS he's going to be a greedy little monster!! DH was!!!

going/anna I've had those too, once or twice. My chiro asked if I had had them and they do have an official name (clearly now gone from my memory) I hadn't even had them in precious pregnancies!

Jealous of all these Chameleons!

Thinking of you thistledew good luck for today.

33 weeks today.
And my bump is so big that I hit it on a door handle the other day... I now have a lovely bruise to show for it! I didn't even think to phone for potential Anti D at the time .. Hope MW doesn't see it and shout at me this week... Baby has seemed fine etc! Currently poking up under my rib at my desk!

FifiRebel · 16/05/2016 12:02

Ladies - def a TMI post but need some advice as I'm a little worried. Just went to loo and noticed I was quite wet down below. Would describe it as a similar discharge to when ovulating. I haven't noticed this at all during pregnancy - I've had plenty of discharge but not like this during preg. Is this normal?? Confused worrying myself that it's waters or something!

SpeakNoWords · 16/05/2016 12:24

Waters apparently smell like straw, or a sweetish smell, definitely not like wee but not odourless like discharge. A midwife would probably ask you to go for a wee, and then put a pad on and check how much there actually is. It's unlikely to be waters, and I think lots of discharge is fairly normal.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 16/05/2016 12:45

Fifi my waters have never actually gone until the pushing stage of labour so I can't tell you too much. But from what I've read like speak said they smell very sweet completely different to urine and you either get a gush or a slow trickle. For what it's worth I lost a big unusual for me tmi snot like lump of discharge this morning. Confused

Thom80 · 16/05/2016 13:03

beautician - my left foot and ankle is more swollen than my right. I reckon it is because I broke that leg about 5 yrs ago. How do I find the Facebook page?
I can't wait to see all the nurseries. I was taking to my OH last night and we are goon to get some animal themed stickers. Still waiting on a moving date but it is likely to be end of May.
Sorry, this is going to be a bit of a pity post. My OH is away for work tonight and overnight. I have seizures so can't sleep alone in the house because of the risk to the baby & me. I usually don't mind sleeping at my mums but I feel very teary about it today. I usually look forward to but I just keep crying when I think of not being at home with my OH and cat. On top of that I have been to my consultant apt today and I need to have an operation on 1st August shortly after giving birth. The drug they need to give me before the operation has risks for BF so I go ahead without and there are risks to me in the operation or have it and not BF which I desperately want to. Now I am crying about that!! Not having a good day and sorry for the pity post!!!

Thom80 · 16/05/2016 13:12

Also, just hit a new low as I have been sitting on a bus crying in central London! Lots of staring people.

SpeakNoWords · 16/05/2016 13:13

Thom it's worth checking with the Drugs in Breastmilk helpline about the specific drug that's been suggested.

www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/detailed-information/drugs-in-breastmilk/

Often, the surgeons/doctors are being cautious in what they recommend, when there is not as great a risk as you might think. Also, you might be able to express to maintain supply, and then get back to direct breastfeeding once you're not taking the medication any more (if that's an option).

FifiRebel · 16/05/2016 13:21

Thanks for reassurance ladies - will read up on thread properly later X

tams13 · 16/05/2016 13:36

Loving all the nursery decoration talk! We're picking up a second hand nursing chair tonight. Looking forward to the furniture all being in so we can put our stickers up (bears and chicks).

beautician I wasn't aware of a Facebook group (probably me being dozy and missing talk of it). How would I find it?

thom Sounds like you're not having a great day. No need to feel bad though - it happens. I think the advice speak gave is good. Look into the drug a bit more to find out the problems. Expressing could be a great way to go back to bf after. It might take a bit of work to transition back to breast but at least that way baby could have your milk when the drug is out of your system (either direct or expressed and given with a bottle). Can you talk to your consultant/midwife a bit more about this?

fifi From what I've been told at antenatal classes waters should be like water, so fluid rather than mucusy. If you're worried, I'd pop a pad on, keep an eye on it and contact the hospital if you're worried. You could always phone the antenatal ward for advice too. They were lovely when I phoned a while ago (if you're in Cardiff at the moment).

Cookiesandcoffee · 16/05/2016 13:42

fifi my instinct says its discharge.. Hormones do really effect and I find my varies a lot between weeks/days. Advise to go for a wee then pop a pad in to monitor. My waters did go at home last time but I was also having mild contractions at this point. Gross I know but I do think they smell different as others have said. I've also lost heavy 'lumpier' (sorry!) kind throughout pregnancy, thanks again hormones. If you really are worried give a midwife/ward a call

thom you totally deserve a moan. Sometimes it all gets too much and you need a pity rant and that's exactly what we are here for! Hoping you have a lovely eve with your mum, can you get a tub of ice cream or something and a good film to watch together? Mum time is usually good therapy. Sorry to hear about your op, did they give you much information about the options / meds etc? Sounds like you need a bit of you time and some treats - take it easy, I have days where hormones just take over everything.. But then a few days later things don't seem quite so bad? Sending virtual hugs CakeChocolate
