Thom80 · 25/05/2016 19:32

fifi - congratulations! I am so pleased that you are out and recovering. Baby Luca looks so happy and content to have finally met his mummy. I hope everything is ok with both of you and that you have your family around for support. It is so exciting to have our first baby, and what beauty he is. Thinking of you both.
gnat - hope that your auntie is ok. I love my MIL to bits but there are moments when I have to bite my tongue!
cookies - I am so impressed that you have managed to go on for as kings as you have.
photographer - good luck this weekend. I am finding our move less than straight forward!
I can totally relate to everyone's work issues. I have an stressful but rewarding job. I am use to putting in 13 hour plus days, then being contactable in the evenings and on call one weekend In 3. My boss is used that too! After my little melt down last week, my boss has been very understanding. I am absolute workaholic but starting to listen to my body. This is partly led me to decision to start mat leave at 39 weeks only to find out I will have had the baby by then!

Thom80 I feel your pain. When I was pregnant with my first I went from 10+ plus days, always on call, flying bi-weekly to India or LA for work.. I love my job but my whole life was my job. I went on Mat leave a total wreck and only made it about 8 months into my year long mat leave before going back. Not that I didn't love every moment with my daughter and I even considered being a stay at home mum (I am very much a all or nothing girl) but I did really want to go back in the end as it was hard to switch off completely and we occasionally emailed (like everyday) letting me know how things were going.

I started to explore childminders and nurseries but wasn't right for DD, she is a very gentle child and I just thought the environment wasn't right for her. Out of the blue my DH offered to spend the next year and a half with her as a stay at home dad (hes a writer so still freelanced in the evenings) and look after we til she was preschool age.. Best decision we ever made. I went back to work but changed in a lot of ways. I head home earlier, I use my holiday and lieu days to spend more weekdays off to do things with my DD.

This mat leave is going to be interesting as I know I am back in December, DH taking offer another 1.5 years to look after the baby and my DD is starting Reception autumn 17. I am going to use this time really to spoil myself with the family and get stuck in to doing all the day to day stuff I miss. Also its quite exciting to let my DH get back into some serious work projects and get back to the land of the living.

Sorry for ranting just looking forward but also already missing work,
