Think they schedule c-sections from 37 weeks as you are then classed as full term.. Not too sure on this though!

Sorry Ive not posted a lot, lots to catch up on! Been a rough weekend with having to be monitored in hospital and being told to rest, but thats been hard with moving back to OHs mums! I did take it very easy though. Been getting dizzy spells a lot more, and anyone elses throat ALWAYS dry?! I drink what feels like gallons of water a day and no matter what I always seem to have a dry throat that sticks if you get what I mean?

Went for a lovely meal last night for OHs nans 65th birthday, but that all decided to come back up later on in the evening Sad I am so ready for July its unreal, even though Im crapping myself about labour now! And Im also being hit with the inevitable puffiness/swelling, not too bad but noticeable! Almost couldnt get a ring off my finger yesterdayBlush

Also my bump seems to have dropped! Just wondered if this is a good thing? Will it mean I go into pre-term labour? FTM so no idea on what this means sorryBlush

Sorry this is such a selfish post all about me but got some serious catching up to do however from what Ive seen,is it Thistle?, Im sorry for what you are going through, seems so horrid and tough and I hope it picks up soon and your placenta moves for you (Im on so many groups I hope Ive got this info right or Im gunna look like a right twonk :L)

Ellizardo · 17/05/2016 22:04

Thistle - that was me about the plane trees. Good luck in London tmw! I live here and it's not too bad, I think I just picked a bad spot to wish my brother happy birthday. As for c section, I think anytime after 37 weeks. They're telling me 38-39 weeks for mine...

Cookies - sciatica here too and total discomfort trying to sleep. End up spread eagled diagonally across the bed, boiling hot and groaning! Bah.

Lula - love the fart/pee combo. Totally been there. And At least it wasn't a 'shart' (have put in inverted commas to save goingloopy's blushes)!

All bravado about whooping cough vaccine out the window. Arm blooming hurts now.

Thom80 · 17/05/2016 22:57

thistle - I am so pleased that you are back home & feeling brighter even with the hay fever. Fingers crossed the placenta moves up. I have seen the obsetrician and although previously it was likely I was going to have a c-section with the operation etc it is looking more likely. I told a friend today & their response was 'too posh to push', I don't anyone has called me too posh before & how rude! I hope you enjoyed the acupuncture, I am a massive fan.
cookiesandcoffee - I am so impressed that you are teaching a class, I am being so lazy! Hope that pain is better.
It made me giggle all the chat about the smell of breaking waters. It sounds delightful!
youandme - hope the scans goes well tomorrow and you find the insulin ok over night. You seem to be handling it so well.
lulabell - I just spat my drink out laughing. There is no dignity in pregnancy!
fifi - I mentioned on the thread that I am thinking of getting a bugaboo and a lot of people have said positive things.
mrsrolly - my work still haven't appointed a replacement and I told my boss today that I am likely to have the baby early at 38 weeks, so need to bring my mat leave forward from 39. He seemed very relaxed and I guess it is his problem if he doesn't have anyone but I worry for him. Time is flying by and I will soon be gone!
Thank you for all your support. I am feeling brighter today and feel better prepared for anything! Saw the obsetrician and we talked through lots of the problems and seeing her again in 2 weeks. This was followed by a scan, which they weren't totally happy with so have to have a follow up next week. I am not concerned at all as it felt like an over reaction, but great to see the baby again!
Sorry for the epic post!

Thom80 · 17/05/2016 23:01

puzzle - hope you are ok? It sounds like you need to be resting up.
I was told by my obsetrician today that they don't like to do c-sections before 38 weeks as you need to have steroid injections. Has anyone else been told that? I think most c-sections as 38-39 weeks, and are only earlier if there is real clinical need.

AnnaT45 · 18/05/2016 06:39

Morning everyone,

So much to catch up on! I'll do my best!

thom I'm sorry you've had a rough patch. Please don't be hard on yourself for getting upset, it shows how much you care. Please don't stress about breastfeeding, it really isn't the end of the world if you don't. The most important thing is healthy mum and bub. Babies also don't care they just want feeding! Plus so many advantages to formula! See what dr says though. Are you feeling brighter now?

thistle I'm pleased you're home now and feeling better. I know how you feel about a c section as that's how I felt when I ended up having one. But do you know what, no one asks you how you had the baby and it's only a day or two in being a mum! I figure Being a good mum comes after and not on how well childbirth goes. I don't know about when they do them but in general I think it's 38/39 weeks. I'm having mine at 40 as I wanted to go as long as poss and I went so over due date last time they're not concerned.

cookies you are amazing!!!

jem that cake looks amazing!!!! I want some!!! And yes, learn how to use the buggy before you go out!!

fifi ha ha to the weeing. TMI (are we passed that on this thread?!) I sneezed last weekend and wet myself so much that it dribbled down my leg!!! I'm now doing pelvic floor more lol!!!

In suffering awful hay fever too. Things that I do lip balm around nostrils-acts as a barrier, wash your hair at night as pollen sticks to it, wash your clothes after you've worn them if it's been bad that, I try not to dry clothes outside (annoying! But pollen sticks to them) apparently eating local honey helps too but I hate honey lol!

lulu thom how are you doing with moves? I almost lost my sht on Monday as developer casually told us we may be now moving end of June. I was fuming as they didn't give a reason or apologise. DH says I'm being over sensitive but I can't stand poor communication there is no exude especially when we are paying them a lot of money!! Anyway now they're saying mid June. Hope to find out more tomorrow. I've decided to be mega laid back now and go with the flow/stuff face with treats to chill out! Hope you guys are having less stress?

going how are the pains doing?

missing sorry to hear you're having a rough time. It's impossible to rest I find. Try chill out when you can!

dats thanks for asking! Sleep is up and down but getting better. Ripple keep asking me if we have a preference of sex for this baby. We just reply 'we don't care, we want a sleeper!' Ha ha.

On the sex thing I finally had a dream
I had the baby and it was a boy! So now convinced I've got a little man on the way. I get more and more excited everyday to find out. Going to burst by the time we meet!

Tesco has pampers newborn nappies on buy one get one free at the moment. I'm going to grab some packs now to make me feel organised lol! Was planning to sort all baby stuff when we move but may need to do before now. Ugh. Hate being an adult sometimes!

Got another wedding this weekend. Have told DH I'm not staying till midnight as its starts at 12 and it's too long a day. So he's getting a taxi with friends. Means I'll have evening buffet and come home lol!

Almost 30 weeks and can't wait! X

AnnaT45 · 18/05/2016 06:42

Sorry don't know why it's bolded some and ripple is people obviously!

tams13 · 18/05/2016 07:35

thistle Pleased that you're home now. As frustrating as the bf and c-section news is, like others say the baby won't mind and the main thing is a happy and healthy baby and mum.

missing Sorry to hear you've had a rough weekend in hospital. I'm finding I'm thirstier than before too. I also saw myself in a mirror yesterday and thought my bump looked lower. Does that necessarily mean the baby is engaging? Hope not as its still breech at the moment.

thom I can't believe someone called you too posh to push! That's so rude and absolutely none of their business. Glad you're feeling a bit more positive now though.

fifi I personally didn't like the bugaboo because of the brake on the handle. When dh and I tried it we found it sprang back up and hit our hands. Really painful but probably us being daft. Loads of people seem to love it though and you see millions of them out so it must be good!

Loving all the wee stories!

Does anyone know if bf is possible with a damaged nipple (split down the middle)?

Thom80 · 18/05/2016 08:23

anna - I don't even know where to start with the house move, I don't know where one stress ends and another begins! We had a phone call saying that there was an urgent issue last night and we tried to call back the person they had left for the day. Apparently no one else can help. I haven't slept. It seemed like a good idea to move at the time but beginning to regret it. I hope you are ok, you get so messed around by people when you are moving. Good luck! Also, hope the hay fever is ok. Sounds awful.
On the positive side I feel much better about the operation. My mum is going to postpone her holiday as the baby will be only two weeks & I won't be able to look after her on my own. Someone suggested a night nurse to help out because it could be over whelming having a c-sector followed by an operation but I am not sure how I feel about someone else looking after my new born. Also, not sure of the cost. Has anyone else looked into it? My whole family except me think it is a good idea!

Lulabells · 18/05/2016 08:48

Thom and Anna I feel your house move pain! I hope you both get some better news soon!

We are hoping to move on 10th June but yet to know an exchange date. I hate not knowing what is going on. Luckily my DP is an estate agent and we are both buying and selling through him so we can keep an eye on things. Unfortunately we are at the Mercy of everyone else's solicitors etc!

I don't know about you guys but my nesting urge has kicked in. I am desperate to move to make the new house "home". I hate not being able to do much so I can back from work yesterday and just bleached a load of stuff! Lol. My bathroom and kitchen are now sparkling! Wink

AnnaT45 · 18/05/2016 08:58

lu that sounds positive! We've had that date mentioned too so maybe that will work out. Trying to not get my hopes up though. Handy your DH is a estate agent! We should exchange in a week we kicked up some signatures on the deed so it's delayed it. Whoops!!
And yes to the nesting!!! I need to deep clean my house but keep thinking what's the bloody point?! DD just trashes it too! Have you got much to buy for the new house? Luckily we don't just washing machine and tumble dryer are of priority but then going to take our time with other bits.

thom that is awful. I wouldn't have slept either, hoping it's nothing serious just a question or query on paperwork? Let us know what it is!
Great that your mum can help. When after the section is the op? And don't feel like you need to divulge details but is it going to take some recovery? Is it near tummy? In terms of c section I had crash after getting an infection and felt horrendous for two weeks but after that was up and about ok. In the night you'll have baby next to you in a basket or whatever you choose so I used to get DH to pass bub to me when she wanted to feed. Would he be able to get bottles for you do you think? A night nurse may not be a bad idea if you don't end up breastfeeding. Sending you a hug x

photographerlady · 18/05/2016 11:53

You ladies move fast. Took an hour to catch up on the thread :)

Anyone else completely fed up already? I am 33 weeks with my second but honestly the last three/four nights have been rough and I am achey.. can’t sleep, pelvic pain, size of a house. I have over a month left and just want a painfree night of sleep.

TheMissingPieceToMyPuzzle glad to hear it was a false alarm

Thistledew hope you are feeling better. Sorry to hear about the placenta news.

Fifi lovely bump pic and sadly discharge is normal. I would bring it up though at your next appointment.

Cookiesandcoffee door handle ouch… we have all done it.

Thom80 hug…. sorry its a bit difficult at the moment.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut yeah my brain is mush

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 18/05/2016 12:14

Becks I would add:
Going home outfit
Snacks for you & Dh (jelly babies are good for energy)
Water bottles
Clean top for DH
2/3 dark towels
Sudocrem for baby
Camera
Flip flops (great for walking to & from the shower)
Carrier bags for dirty clothes/pants

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 18/05/2016 12:32

Thom the fb group is mn 07/16. I hope you can find away around the medication to breast feed. If not formula feeding isn't the end of the world. If you have good supply maybe you could express loads leading up to the operation then afterwards you could express and not use that if it's not safe but top up with formula. Expressing will keep your supply going.

Tams just search for mn 07/16 on fb. We don't have a nursery for baby as he will be sharing eventually with ds3 but we will probably keep him in with us for about 9 months. But in ds3s room we have jungle stickers. So monkeys on trees and a giraffe which everyone comments on.

YouandMe my brain is addled to I don't know whether I'm coming or going half the time. I forget to do everything all the time.

Fifi my babies movements had settled down quite a bit and I was getting a little worried. However, this week he is making up for it. Less small movement its larger obvious movements like he is shifting around in there. Makes me happy that he still has room as I panic about him being really big as my previous three were quite small.

Lula hahahahaha get doing those pelvic floor exercises quick.

It's ds3 Birthday tomorrow. I'm keeping him home for the day but can't decide what to do. The weather doesn't look like it will be the best. I'm thinking of doing a nice tea in the evening and we have got him a gruffalo birthday cake.

I had a panic about the bank holiday coming up I need to do something as I want to fill up all our time before baby arrives. We have decided to go away for the weekend only to Skegness so I'm hoping the weather will be kind.

32+5

Cookiesandcoffee · 18/05/2016 12:37

becks I recommend lip balm! Water bottles go for sports lids! I had a super thin cheap dressing gown from Primark last time. And flip flops like beaut said! I'm thinking about a tankini top for use in a birthing pool also.

Waiting for chiro appointment will catch up later! After midwife app .. All the appointments today!

33+2

Managed a gym session and then taught a kettlebell class last night.. and a swim to relax this morning, feeling great! Why are our bodies so up and down?!?

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 18/05/2016 12:58

Agree with cookies lip balm is a must. DH put mine on me loads during labour last time as gas and air really dries your mouth. I've packed my tankini top too as hoping to try the pool

Bluebell20 · 18/05/2016 13:56

Thistle so glad you are out!

Ellizardo pear gingerbread sounds lush! And I am with you on hating poorly checked recipes. I wonder if I could get a job copy-editing cake books? Now there's a thought....

Cookies I've been missing about one in four vitamins and that seems to have been enough to sort me out. Maybe try taking them two days in every three or something?

Lula I went bleach-mad in the bathroom yesterday too, and I'm normally a vinegar and bicarb kind of girl! Also scrubbed our stairs (they are painted white with yellow risers) so they are now gleaming. And I have at least six bags of stuff on the landing waiting to go to a charity shop. I'm so nesty at the moment I'm surprised I'm not gathering twigs and moss at the roadside!

Thom a night nurse sounds like it could be a good short term solution, but you have to feel comfortable. It's your choice, not anyone else's. Hope the house move issue is easily fixed, too.

Well, I've just got back from the eye hospital for another dilation test and my eyes are fine, which is what I thought. More worrying is the fact that a theoretical 45 minute journey took nearly 2 hours - and this is really near the hospital I am planning to give birth in! Argh! Every hospital is at least 45 minutes away from us, but I'm worrying now that I may have made the wrong choice! Baby, please come in the middle of the night and not at rush hour! I do not fancy pushing you out in a traffic jam to an audience of commuters!

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 18/05/2016 14:15

I find taking my vitamins makes quite a big difference to how I feel as well Bluebell. If I forget them for a few days I get (even more) knackered!

Jem how did it go with your repeat GTT?

Kaytee have you had your growth scan yet? Hope all was well.

I had a growth scan this morning. All went well - baby is average sized, amniotic fluid levels look fine, and previously slightly low lying placenta has moved. My tiny dose of insulin had bugger all impact on my fasting levels today sadly. Not surprising - I think it will need to be increased a few times to find the right dose. Some people never manage to control fasting levels and chase them all through pregnancy, but I'm hoping that won't be me!

Lulabells · 18/05/2016 15:29

That's good Anna that you don't need much. The only thing which is urgent is a cooker because the one they are leaving "doesn't work very well". Saying that we plan on getting new sofa, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher at the same time! Lol.

Beautician I second the jelly babies! I haven't even got my hospital bag yet but I have already bought those bad boys! Lol. And yes must start pelvic floor exercises!! I don't want to piss myself in public if I can help it!!

Bluebell isn't it satisfying to have a good clean?? I wish I could bottle this feeling for when the birth when I lose my cleaning motivation!

beckslovestimmy · 18/05/2016 15:54

Thanks ladies flip flops now packed and will get some lip balm. I didn't even get the chance for gas and air last time!!! I'll pick up some water bottles next shop and put in a top for DH.

I've not got a particular going home outfit but I've got the same babygro's we had for DD. I thought it was sweet that they'll wear the same.

Our hospital provide towels (I work there so I have inside knowledge!) I'll use there's so I don't ruin mine or fill up my bag. I've got 1 medium size hold-all for everything. I'll put together some other bits for if I'm in longer than expected. This is number 2 for me so doubt they'll keep me in for long as long as all goes well.

It's all coming round quick. If this one is born at the same gestation as DD I've only got 3 weeks left!!! I've just put the absorbent sheets on the bed and put one in the car! Trying to get organised!!

beckslovestimmy · 18/05/2016 16:04

Thistle glad your home and home that's an end to the bleeding.

Sorry to those suffering with hayfever, DH gets it really bad. Be careful because I don't think you can take many oral remedies when pregnant.

Anna enjoy the wedding, I wish we'd been able to stay at the venue of the recent wedding we'd gone to. I'd have left DH to it at about 10pm I was so uncomfortable!! As it was i was doing the conga, and a girl v boy sing off way past midnight!!!

Tams is it the nipple+ areola? If just the nipple and it's not sore I think you'll be fine. The milk comes from all over the areola not just one 'hole' so to speak. Also i think some women have successfully fed from just one breast. Worth discussing with the midwife.

Photographer I'm with you on being uncomfortable. I've started using my yoga ball to lean on or sit on. I'm worse at night with my PGP/SPD I don't think I get more than an hour of unbroken sleep.

Good luck to all of those moving soon

Cookiesandcoffee · 18/05/2016 20:42

Agh phone deleted post- grr.

Good advice bluebell I will try reintroducing at a lower dose as I do feel like I could do with a boost. Glad all is well with your eyes. With reference to time to hospital, I would just take that into consideration when calling hospital. Speak to your midwife but maybe don't leave it as late as contractions being 5mins apart like I think is advice.

youandme glad growth scan went well. I'm sure you will get there with your sugar levels, as you say this was a really low dose. Great news on placenta too

beautician hope ds3 has a lovely birthday tomorrow. Gruffalo cake sounds amazing! I can't remember how old he will be but hope you have a great day no matter what the weather.

Ladies who are moving I really don't envy you at all. You are very brave. Really hope everything falls into place and happens before baby etc. We chose to hold out last time until baby was 4 months but life was VERY cramped

anna I also took advantage of that offer, kinda wish I bought more now! Helpful to have extra in stock before hand.

So conclusion from chiropractor appointment was to give up teaching my classes with immediate effect and that I'm doing more harm than good when it comes to pelvis. Gave me a speech about how the angle of my pelvis (where it keeps going out of line)could damage baby as he comes out. Eg jaw and neck problems. Result : me freaking out and feeling terrible. Spoke to my manager - who has a lot of pre and post natal experience in fitness, has 2 children herself and is pregnant with 3rd - and said I won't be harming baby at all and disagrees with advice given, and was cross that they worried me like they had. Don't know quite what to believe. Don't want to take any chances really..

Secondly my belly has grown from 31cm to 37cm in 3 weeks. So now booked for growth scan on Friday. I'm not particularly worried but a faff to fit in with DDs. So all in all feeling pretty drained. Trying to stay awake for One Born and will reward with Chocolate

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 18/05/2016 20:56

Cookies thank you ds3 will be 3. He's so excited although he is a little confused and thinks it's Christmas tomorrow. Re: SPD I would get a second opinion from GP maybe. I have to agree though that what the chiropractor has said makes sense. I only have pgp this time last time I had bad SPD. Last time I was advised to give up exercise at 30 weeks and to be honest I could hardly walk. This time even doing a few floor leg lifts causes discomfort so I don't know how you've continued. All I know is that last time with SPD the GP said all the joints in the pelvis are so soft and loose with the condition that just one wrong move could cause permanent damage. Luckily my SPD went a few months after birth.

I too will be settling down to watch one born.

GoingLoopyQuickly · 18/05/2016 22:30

Good luck with the house moves. We are trying to get our extension to a livable state before the baby comes. But don't plan on finishing it with any urgency as we are trying not to borrow any money for it!

Anna - the pains did seem to settle although I get some now and then. I am sure it was ligaments.

For those of you with sciatica, I seriously recommend going to a chiropractor. I went a few weeks ago after being so bad I could barely walk and she almost instantly "cuted" me. It took a couple of sessions to straighten me through the spine but I actually feel straight now and haven't had any sciatic pain since.

My bump however is getting heavier by the minute. I can really feel the baby pushing down and it gets really uncomfortable. Especially at work when I am based on a chair either in meetings or at my desk. I have taken to standing in meetings now which I feel really self conscious about and get achy feet. But less pressure on my bump.

I panicked a bit this week realising I have less than 8 weeks before my mat leave starts and less than 9 weeks before i get to the gestation my boy was when he arrived! I need to do more with my hospital bag and pool than look at them!

tams13 · 19/05/2016 08:36

Wow! I feel like I've missed so much and it hasn't even been that long.

becks thanks for the reply. It's just the nipple and not sore. It's been like that since I was a teenager. Fingers crossed I can still try bf.

Hope all the house moves and building work is coming along and getting less stressful for you brave ladies trying to finish it off now.

Hospital bag things are useful. I've got this list from my NHS antenatal classes but have added a couple of things from what has been said here too. It's assuming that you and baby will only be in for one night at the most and assumes that your partner can stay (with us they can stay with you 24/7 on the midwife led unit but can't stay overnight if you're consultant led or transferred to the ward).
