Loopy and Puzzle, how long were you told to fast for? Mine is just an hour before the lucozade and then another hour before the test - you sound as if you've been starved for hours or days! Wink I'm just on my way to my test now.

Elliz - no I'm not r neg. Good point though. I'm sure I'm fine physically - I was just a bit taken by surprise and slightly shaken (and a bit embarrassed to have caused such a spectacle and consternation in the office). Thanks to peeps for your concern.

All this house-buying is very exciting! Congratulations to you both, and good luck with the packing. I'm doing some boxing up too at the mo but it's just so we can put winter clothes etc into storage to make space for the baby - so less exciting! Hoping to buy next year - hopefully sneak in there before the London market shoots up again... Anyway, will keep fingers crossed that all goes smoothly for you.

GoingLoopyQuickly · 22/04/2016 09:34

Julfin. From 10pm last night. With just sips of water if necessary.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 22/04/2016 10:00

Mini DH wanted a BBQ yesterday and I seriously regretted the one burger in a bun I had. It made me feel so sick & gave me horrendous heartburn.

Tams you've reminded me I must book my whooping cough jab. Baby is moving loads here it makes me feel funny. I've never had such a wriggly baby before so it's something new to me.

Cookies I will probably regret saying so but I've not really had comments about my bump apart from mean ones from family. I want strangers to notice haha. I ordered some Emma Jane bras in the end from Jojo as they have 15% off code at the moment.

So many of you are having a GTT test. Is it the norm for your area. I've never had one in all 4 pregnancies.

I'm awaiting a Mothercare order today. I've ordered my nursing nightshirts, maternity pads, cotton wool, breast pads and a few other bits. I plan to get my bags for hospital packed next week. I was hoping we would get more sun so I could wash all the baby clothes and dry them outside but there is lots of rain predicted here next week.

Wow Loopy I'd have struggled with no breakfast! Strange that the instructions were so different Hmm** Just finished my test/appt now.

KayTee87 · 22/04/2016 10:15

beautician I'm having one due to a family history of diabetes Sad
julfin my instructions are to fast from 10pm night before, only water. Arrive at the hospital at 8.30am where I will have a blood test then drink horrible juice (!) wait two hours then blood test again. I then need to hang about until 2.45pm to get my anti-d Shock

GoingLoopyQuickly · 22/04/2016 10:22

Beautician - I was supposed to have the GTT with PG1 because my dad had diabetes. MW said they are tightening up process. Not sure it is an area thing. I am in Bristol but I get the impression I am billy no mates from this group here in the west country lol.

Julfin. My test consists of fasting from 10pm. Bloods taken at 8:40. Two cups of lucozade and a two hour wait in the waiting room (not even allowed to go outside), then more blood taken at 10:40. Then let the mw know I have had the test so they can che k the results from the lab next week.

TheMissingPieceToMyPuzzle · 22/04/2016 11:03

Julfin Ive fasted now for 15 1/2 hours!! Waiting on food in a café which no doubt Ill devour! So glad the test is done and now to wait on results which Ill find out Monday apparently

GoingLoopyQuickly · 22/04/2016 11:19

Missingpeice. I have just inhaled three pieces of toast. .

BelOfTheBall79 · 22/04/2016 11:57

Hope everyone's OK with the tests and the Lucozade! Thanks Beautician for asking about why people are having them, I was getting worried that my midwife had missed something! Does remind me that I need to phone up for blood test results as the midwife wanted to check my iron levels...will do that now.

Countdown to the weekend everyone! Can't wait.

Am 29 weeks today. It's getting scarily close now isn't it!

Cookiesandcoffee · 22/04/2016 12:25

The nurse taking my bloods at mine said she recognised me as being a fitness instructor an asked why I had been referred. I asked why such a fuss was being made of weight/BMI and she said just clamping down. So I think people are getting tested more easily. I'm semi west country going

Hope everyone's tests are negative! The drink I had wasn't lucozade it was FOUL. Not that I drink lucozade but this was rancid.

julfin I had to fast from the night before too. But I could have water. I weed so so many times during the test period where I was substituting food for water Hmm

beautician that sounds exciting! I've started packing throwing things into mine! Wet and miserable here too.

lula I had the white one like that one! Although I've given it away so now need to buy another one HmmI found it really useful

beckslovestimmy · 22/04/2016 13:00

Going loopy I'm from the westcountry!! I'm in Devon.

GoingLoopyQuickly · 22/04/2016 13:56

Lula i have that bin (i think) and when I ran out of nappy sack things I just started using pedal bin bags and an occasional rince with zoflora. It currently sits on my landing and is very useful.

GoingLoopyQuickly · 22/04/2016 14:01

Cookies - I am curious as to where semi west is. Is it on the M4 corridor.

Becks - devon is lovely. Nice to know I am not an island 😄

dats · 22/04/2016 17:06

Happy Friday :-)

Down here everyone has the Lucozade test as a potential pre-cursor to the GTT. Hour fast, 200ml Lucozade (yuck) and then bloods an hour after I think? And depending on results, you have a full GTT with the proper fast and then tests two hours apart. Last time they cocked up my results and said I was fine, then changed their minds and I had to do the full one. Got lots of knitting done in the waiting room, though Grin

DD moves up a room at nursery next week, so last day in current one today and it made me sad! I know she'll be fine but yannow. We have a lifetime of this, girls!

I had loads of other things to say but I'm currently on a bus so I'll be back later for a proper catch up (after pizza and Gardener's World!!!)

dats 27+5

Lulabells · 22/04/2016 17:15

Becks I'm from Devon too so another Westcountry lass Going loopy! On the very beautiful English Riviera.

Beautician I am doing a similar Mothercare shop for maternity pads, nighties etc on Sunday. I too want to pack my hospital bag soon even though I'm not even 27 weeks yet! Got a funny feeling I might be early (probably just jinxed it!).

Thank god its the weekend. Another week of work done and 8 to go! Have a lovely weekend everyone Grin

Bluebell20 · 22/04/2016 17:21

Aw look at all the West Country-ers! I'm Somerset!

dats you have reminded me that I really must crack on with the crochet - whoops!

Absolutely exhausted today, ladies. I worked until 11.40pm on a book edit last night, then was in class teaching all day today, and all I want to do is crawl into bed and pull the duvet over my head! But I am ravenous, so I have to go and cook dinner... Where is a kitchen maid when you need one?!

MrsRolly · 22/04/2016 19:14

Westcountry as well right down the bottom in Cornwall.

I'm hoping I don't have to have the test - midwife next week so we'll see I have really bad hangry attacks as my DH lovingly calls them so may tip me over the edge with the fasting!! Would have to stay by myself and not come into contact with anyone till after ha.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, apparently the weather is clearing up so may get some washing outside yet.

We have had to have asbestos removed today from our ceilings and they have done a shoddy clear up job and ripped up two kitchen tiles, now have no ceilings till weds have been assured it would be safe but not feeling do reassured with the green stuff we can see left in the corners.. Perfect excuse to not cook for a day or so till I can get it checked Monday Grin

Cookiesandcoffee · 22/04/2016 20:31

going I'm officially south west but only at a push. Wiltshire lass here. I don't even think I have a country-esque accent (my London friends disagree WinkGrin)

bluebell make sure you get some rest - sounds tiring just hearing about your busy days.

Managed a little gym and swim session this morning and then my chiropractor consultation, which was good. Am booked in for a proper appointment next week. Sounds like it will be really beneficial .. Even if it is pricey. My poor body needs some TLC!

TheMissingPieceToMyPuzzle · 22/04/2016 20:59

Ladies, Ive had about 9 or 10 BH in the last 1 1/2-2 hours, no pain just tightening and uncomfortable.. Is this too many? I did ask my mum but she says its normal, but cant help but think theyre too frequent! (My mums a nurse)

GoingLoopyQuickly · 22/04/2016 21:50

Cookies, Wiltshire is west enough. You probably have more of an accent than me. I am adopted southwest. I moved here to go to uni and stayed. It is almost 20 years since that glorious time I left home.

Headline of the day in my house is no longer GTT but chicken pox. DS seems to have it. We had that dreaded call from nursery. I am in denial mostly but the adult in me knows the truth. Annoyed as we were due to go to a softplay birthday party at a really great venue (they have refurboshed, a large outdoor sandcastle and animals, includingca baby pigmy goat born a few weeks ago). The boy whose birthday it is was born the day I found out I was pregnant with DS.

GoingLoopyQuickly · 22/04/2016 21:51

Missingpeice - if you are worried call your assessment unit for advice. I am not sure you have anything to worry about though. BUT I am not in anyway qualified to make that assumption. Go with your gut.

TheMissingPieceToMyPuzzle · 22/04/2016 21:54

I had one more after I posted and thats been it, I wasnt really worried as such because it came with no pain and I havent had a 'show' but just wondered if it was too frequent, little man is okay as hes being very wriggly so thats put my mind at easeSmile

minieggaddict · 22/04/2016 22:36

Oo err I'm a Devon lass too. Proper west country! No gtt here unless mw is concerned with wee sample.

Loopy - chicken pox is a pain but better to get it out the way. I gather it's not very nice for little babies but dd had it at 3 and wasn't very ill. Hope he's better soon.

Been introduced to heart burn today. Gaviscon did bugger all but water helped....and ice cream!

Cookiesandcoffee · 22/04/2016 23:12

missing they can be really painful but if they've stopped and little man is wiggling I really would try and relax. If you feel concerned in any way come morning then give them a call.

going sounds really rubbish but trying to see the positive it's better now than when with the added worry of a newborn. Sad news about the party though. Does sound like a great place. Wish I was closer to you to check it out!
Neither of mine have had it (6 and 3) so I always worry, and every rash they're ever had I've not known and panicked. Annoying.
I'm very much on the boarder but yep my address says Wiltshire.

mini sorry to hear about your heartburn. Was there anything in particular that set it off? Hope the medicinal ice cream keeps it at bay Grin I've been all about the ice cream and milkshakes recently. Yummmm.

KayTee87 · 22/04/2016 23:17

Missing just saw your posts, you could be dehydrated, apparently that can cause Braxton hicks try drinking plenty of water and see if that helps. I know I had a really intense Braxton hick that woke me up in the middle of the night after I'd had a tummy bug and I put it down to dehydration caused by the bug.
