Greater good omeprazole or nexium is the only thing that has helped my heartburn. You have to remember to take one everyday. I missed one the other day and woke up at 3am in agony again. I've just been buying mine at £12 for 14 tablets as I've not had time to get to docs but need to see about getting safe antihistamines too so will kill two birds with one stone the same day I'm in for my whooping cough.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 21/04/2016 12:00

Eliz that sounds great. I would love a baby shower but I don't really have any friends here. We've lived here for a year in June and I think it's hard to make friends as you get older.

Urgh anyone else having pregnancy sickness. Mine has started this week. How rubbish to get so far. I've been sick twice this week but I feel sick all the time.

AnnaT45 · 21/04/2016 12:03

Thanks jem and dats super excited / panicked about it but I think I'll have about 8 weeks in the new house to get settled and the last 3 will be off work.

beautician I got a lovely Heidi Klum one from Asos that is pretty as well as comfy. I hate maternity/ nursing bras in general!

greater I have bought a rattle and that's it! I've decided what I want just need to order it but going to wait till we move. Most stuff comes really fast I think it's the deciding that takes the time!

kangaroo my 15 month old is an awful sleeper. I average 4/5 hours broken sleep a night. My ridiculously positive side says 'well I'm up already so may as well do it with two'
going that's interesting I've been considering a sleep coach so will look into it. I think DD is going through separation anxiety currently. Glad it's now and not when baby arrives though!

missing what a diddy baby. I have two friends that had babies at 25 weeks (twins) and 27 weeks and all are doing great now! The NHS is remarkable at times! Hope GTT goes ok.

Almost Friday!!!!

TheGreaterGood · 21/04/2016 12:04

Missing - you've set me of again now! The thought of my boy coming out now and being so little...sob! To be fair he'd have to stay in hospital since we're so unprepared there's nowhere for him to sleep!

Got omeprazole on prescription - yay! Totally hadn't sorted out my mat exemption form though so had to pay. Filled the form in now for next time.

Now taking daily aspirin, omeprazole, Iron and pregnacare.

Does anyone know when you should start monitoring movement? I had read somewhere that it is 28 weeks but that seems very late to me. I am keeping an eye on movement and have a feel of whether it has been an active day or not, but haven't been keeping a record. Is anyone yet?

AnnaT45 · 21/04/2016 12:24

thom have a look at count the kicks website. I think the 28 weeks is more a change in pattern as it's noticeable by then but I may be wrong, so someone correct me if so!

I think if you have days when you feel like bub is moving regardless of what week you are call the hospital. Things to do if you have this is lie on your side have a cold drink and something to eat (with sugar if poss). Babies often sleep when you're moving around so if you been busy then you can often not have many.

Are you not having much movement? X

Thom80 · 21/04/2016 12:41

Anna - on and off. I had a mini scan on Tuesday to check the babies heart beat and it was all fine then. I was hoping that my anxiety levels will go down after I started to feel movement but it hasn't been the case.

We are also trying to come up with names at the moment. We both like the idea of a Welsh name. My OH is Welsh and proud & I have no specific roots, so thought it would be nice. I know that that there a few people on the thread from Wales, so any suggestions? Both boys & girls names.

SunnyScot89 · 21/04/2016 15:13

I love Seren as a Welsh girls name.

KayTee87 · 21/04/2016 15:19

Thom I love Megan.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 21/04/2016 15:30

Thom I have no Welsh background at all but I love Welsh baby names. My eldest son is Evan. For a boy I like Evan (obviously), Gethin, Maddox, Iwan & Rhys.
For a girl: Cerys, Seren, Eleri & Arwen.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 21/04/2016 15:32

Forgot to say yes you don't count the kicks until 28 weeks. Sometimes you get lazy bubs. My first and third didn't move much at all so I had to eat chocolate (any excuse) , drink something cold or lie down and give them a prod.

GoingLoopyQuickly · 21/04/2016 16:34

Ladies with heartburn and indigestion. Don't forget to ask your docs about ranatidine. You have to get a prescription for it but i know plenty of friends who swore by it in their pregnancies. I am still on the low level peptic stuff but lucky to not have needed much more!

AnnaT - this sleep coach helped us deal with the whole seperation stuff. DS is a whole new kid in the daytimes due to having sleep. And he still has a nap in the day. Although if I wasn't pregnant and in need of the naps too I would possibly encourage him to leave the dattime naps behind.

Lulabells · 21/04/2016 17:23

What a day!! Got our mortgage offer today! Anna we are in the same boat of moving before baby arrives but doesn't give us long! Actually going to start packing now as I feel a lot better about it all.

Ordered a load of stuff off Next website yesterday in the sale as they have loads of the first sizes of things so got some bargains for when it gets colder! Also bought some cot bedding!

Just sat on the bed surrounded by my little boys new clothes etc thinking shit I have bought loads!!! First boy and last child being my excuse! Wink

Got a few bargains recently;

  1. Swandoodle (giant muslin square to be used as blanket, breast feeding cover, sunshade, etc etc. Usually £23 but I got a second off their website and it was only £6!

2)Tommee Tippee hygienic bin reduced from £31 to about £13. Might to hold lots of nappies and keeps smell locked in. I needed a bin anyway so thought I would give it a try!

3)Super cute rudolph booties from Next reduced from £7 to £2. Totally not needed but so soft and cute!

4)Tommee Tippee 6 decorated bottles (they have bees on them) from Kiddicare normally £30 ish but went to £14 I think (bought them a few weeks ago!).

I hope everyone is getting on OK. For those suffering, not long to go now and this will all be a distant memory!

P.s sorry for long post!!

minieggaddict · 21/04/2016 18:53

Beautician - not got full blown sickness but have started feeling a bit nauseous again espec. evenings. Stopped drinking tea again and eating less at night helped yesterday as the day before I ended up seriously regretting the mars bar i ate (I found that really depressing!).

Lulabells where did you get your bargain bin from? We used an ordinary Brabantia bin last time but that nappy stink is grim!

AnnaT45 · 21/04/2016 18:59

Hurray lula congrats!!! Do you know when you'll be looking to move? Our buyers are ready as in rented but were buying a new build. They say it should be done by May but we are telling ourselves early June as I know what can happen! I can't focus on baby till we move. I've become obsessed with lighting and rugs lol!

thom it's such a worrying time, don't be hard on yourself. I'm really laid back but in pregnancy my anxiety is too much for me to handle. I've been a bloody nightmare with the house move! The best thing to do is just remember your chances of everything being ok are far higher than not. When you're worried about movement just rest up and baby should get moving eventually. I think we all feel the same in terms of the worrying so you can always talk to us and we can all reassure each other. Thanks

going yes to the afternoon nap! I'm hoping DD will keep it till 2 so I can a few months where I pretend I can get us all down for a nap st once Grin that is good to know thank you. DH and I are huge softies and just go to her when she cries as she had a rough start with health problems and we have it in the back of our minds that she may be unwell when she cries. We are probably the problem at this point!!!! But good to know it worked as I may give it a whirl!

Chilli for dinner! Yum!!! What's everyone else got?

I'm getting sodding hay fever Sad had it so bad last time I had to get some stuff prescribed. Hope I don't have to this time round!

tams13 · 21/04/2016 20:06

lula that bin sounds like it could be good. Where did you find that?

thom some lovely Welsh names mentioned already. The only thing I would suggest is that you make sure people can pronounce them where you live. I never thought Geraint was unusual or difficult until I moved to London from South Wales but nobody I knew there could pronounce it! Girls name options: Cerys, Bronwen, Siân, Seren, Carys among many others. Boys name options: Ioan, Ieuan, Gethin, Ifan, Rhys and lots more. There are some good websites with lots of Welsh names if you google it.

Had my 28 week appointment today and didn't realise that midwife couldn't do the whooping cough jab. Oops. Booked in with the nurse in a couple of weeks for that. Movements had changed for me - pressure rather than kicks or jabs now. Midwife said that baby was facing my spine so that would probably stop me feeling kicks. Still felt some movements though so wasn't worried. Nice to know why I'm feeling different things now though.

Cookiesandcoffee · 21/04/2016 20:11

Great pic kaytee ! You always sound like you have a great maternity wardrobe. I've been angry and hot this week! bluebell I don't blame you for a clothing splurge at all. I treated myself to some new flip flops today as my feet seem to have started swelling Hmm those pants will make you very happy post birth! I've done it with both of mine. And then you can just throw them away. But so comfy. And good for maternity pads too. Is that your whooping cough vax you have tomorrow? Mine was completely painless if that's any comfort.

Have a great time in Mallorca elliz. We took our DDs last summer and we made such great memories for life. Have a lovely time and can't wait to hear all about it. Go for the 4th! It's my due date and so hoping he comes that day. My last DD came on her due date and her birthday is 12/12/2012

bel your nursing chair sounds great! I would love to get one but can't justify. I think sharing the leave like that sounds really nice. Good idea! Unfortunately not a financial option for us as DH is only taking annual leave.

going good luck for your GTT tomorrow. Hope it's not too horrific and you get some good news back soon.

julfinhope you're ok. I'm increasingly more clumsy but look after yourself! In my experience I would ignore bump measuring all together. I think you should measure roughly as many weeks as you are but ladies carry so differently I don't agree with it.

beautician I think you mentioned bras- I've gone from a 34 and now I need a 38 too. Depressing. Last time I bought some nursing bras from M&S (to wear in late pregnancy and then get double use out of) and they were more supportive/shaping than those S/M/L type ones. They had light padding and I felt 'smoothed' everything. £30 for 2 I think. I'm trying to put off and keep with normal bras for now...

anna congrats on the mortgage! So exciting!

Trying to catch up with everyone but so tired so I've probably missed half of you. Super sorry. So so tired. DH has been out/away and really feeling exhausted having to do everything. Back (lower) has been so bad it kept me awake half of last night. Phoned a chiropractor this morning and they offered me a free consultation tomorrow to see if they can help. I hope so! My support belt from JoJo I will recommend as it really has helped since wearing it this week.
Had my whooping cough vaccine but nothing to report but a slightly sore arm.
Bought some breast pads and bits for hospital bag today.. Starting to feel more real...

29+3
(but people keep asking when I'm due expecting me to say in a couple of weeks)

Thom80 · 21/04/2016 20:53

Thank you for all the name suggestions. I am going to mention a few of them to OH this evening.
Anna - thank you, I feel like all I do is worry about one things or another. I haven't found any of my MWs reassuring. I have never seen the same one twice. Who knows who I will see next.....
I have left over lentil curry for dinner tonight. Looking forward to it. My OH works late so won't be eating until 9:30. I am currently sitting on my sofa eating pickled onions!!!!!!

GoingLoopyQuickly · 21/04/2016 21:01

Thanks cookies. Not looking forward to the fasting bit, lucozade or sitting in the docs for 2 hours. But quite nice not to have to go to work. A negative result will put me one step closer to my home birth.

AnnaT DS wasn't poorly as such but did suffer badly from wind trapped bowels (coleif was our saviour), and it seemed he worked out how to get me to just want to be sure he was ok. He is now 28 months and I can explain more to him about staying in bed until the sun comes up (on the gro clock). We certainly don't head for the paracetamol as much thinking there is something wrong.

Lulabells · 21/04/2016 21:58

Minie and Tams, the bin is from Mothercare and comes with two refills of nappy sacks. I think refills might be quite pricey but can still use it without. I think the blue and pink ones are better value than the white one.

Anna that sounds like a very exciting move! New house and new baby!! My fingers are crossed it's May for you. We are looking for first week of June (maternity starts 24/06 and baby due 26/07) but our first time buyers are still waiting for their mortgage offer. The ones we are buying from have very kindly offered to move into their caravan to break what was becoming a ridiculously long chain!!

Lulabells · 21/04/2016 22:02

This is the bin I bought guys Smile

TheMissingPieceToMyPuzzle · 22/04/2016 06:52

Glucose test today, Im already sooo hungry and really upset I cant have my morning cup of teaSad today is gunna be a longggg day...

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 22/04/2016 07:11

Hope it goes well for you missing! I'm not finding the GD too awful at the moment, but I wouldn't wish it on anyone! The main thing I'm hating is the amount of headspace it consumes: I feel like I'm constantly thinking about what I should eat, and when I should eat it. It feels very rigid, and I'm depressed about how difficult it is to eat out. But it's not forever.

GoingLoopyQuickly · 22/04/2016 08:55

Missingpeice i have just done part one of the GTT and am now drinking the lucozade. I am so thirsty and hungry that I can't taste how horrid it usually tastes. I am actually quite enjoying it!

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 22/04/2016 09:23

I remember being so thirsty I was glad of the lucozade too!
