DP was shaking & got really teary this has been such a long awaited moment for us.

You're almost making me well up! That's great news. So glad it went well.

bobcat85 · 08/04/2016 13:38

If it makes you feel any better 5tardusty I've had spotting on and off for last couple of weeks. I've had two scans in that time and everything was absolutely fine.
It's normal to get a bit of spotting during pregnancy so my doctor tells me.

This might be TMI but I tend to get spotting after a number 2, had some this morning but all cleared up now.

MoreCakeMoreCake · 08/04/2016 13:51

fuzzyw I'm 6+6 so we're almost due date buddies!

I have NOT STOPPED eating over the past few days. Bland beige food, fizzy pop and sherbet lemons all the way. DH is impressed / appalled at the amount of crap I'm putting away!

Letters through today for booking appt and 12 week scan, eeeek! Scan will be at Kings in London where they are doing all sorts of fancy pants trials and research studies, so will be exciting to be part of all that (and might get extra scans too!)

Working / shirking from home today so just waiting until 4pm which I think is a reasonable time to log off on a Friday Wink

MoreCakeMoreCake · 08/04/2016 13:54

Important update - I just ate two pieces of fruit! Think my body is about to go into shock from the sudden rush of vitamins....

Thurlow · 08/04/2016 14:02

cake Grin I just had a vegetable lasagne. I tricked my body into not realising there were vegetables there by covering them in lots of cheese...

Got my meeting with HR at work this afternoon, can I remember what kind of things we should be talking about? Nope. I know I need to ask about how we pro-rata my holiday through the year. What I actually want to ask is about whether 1) I'm still eligible for the bonus scheme before Christmas and 2) they are going to pay the £243 in childcare vouchers on top of my SMP? I don't think they'll be answering those at 11 weeks Wink

FuzzyOwl · 08/04/2016 14:17

Cake Grin!

Good luck with your meeting Thurlow.

Thats great news fuzzywuzzy, really glad it all went well Smile

RainbowPickle · 08/04/2016 15:15

Cake - I ate an apple (pats self on back!) Am actually contemplating a salad for tea. I have to admit I feel so much better today for not bingeing on my usual carb fest. Grin

MoreCakeMoreCake · 08/04/2016 15:34

Well done and congrats rainbowpickle!

An ice cream van just pulled up outside my house - don't think I've ever moved so fast! A 99 with a flake has really hit the spot Grin

likeawestern · 08/04/2016 15:38

Great news Fuzzyw. I'm still grinning from mine too and that was two days ago!!

I'm glad you all agree that mw's pushing was off. Talked it through with dh last night - he's happy to have non invasive, low risk tests done but we'd have to revisit the amnio options when we have the results. It's not an option that I've considered before but I was a decade younger last pg.

Chat the risk profiling does seem like a waste of time. Low risk can still result in a poorly baby and high risk the opposite. It seems futile.

I had baked beans yesterday. They class as an f&v portion. It's the best I can offer arm!! I was enjoying ice cold Tropicana but it makes my kidneys and bladder ache so I've had to give it up Hmm

fuzzywuzzy · 08/04/2016 15:40

Really hope the nausea passes quickly for you all suffering form it.

Cake, I can't stop eating, and two different people at work have queried if I'm pregnant (not to my face). I'm completely off sweet stuff tho.

FuzzyO I had a woohoo moment this morning when brushing my teeth I gagged, I was like oooh a symptom.

Bizarrely leading up to today I was actually convinced the pregnancy is all in my head. Should have seen the consultants face When I told her I didn't feel pregnant. Dp was like, she did about twenty tests tho, so she is pregnant 😆

Do is really affected by it, on way home he bought me lunch and kept asking if I still had enough vitamins.
I'm considering milking it and texting him for cups of tea in bed like on another thread😆

Jamjar12 · 08/04/2016 18:19

Well done to everyone eating fruit and veg! Very impressive. I had a duck stir fry in a pub for lunch today. Pretty sure it was 90% noodle and grease but it was amazing nonetheless!

Good luck telling your folks 5tar! That's so exciting! We might be telling mine on Monday after our early scan.

Did a lot of gardening yesterday and carried a few bags of compost around. Didn't think much of it, carried them one at a time and they weren't too heavy (I carry shopping bags heavier than that lol). Today I literally can't move for aching muscles. Watching me go from lying in bed to sitting to standing made my DH laugh until he almost wet himself this morning. I'm now feeling really bad that I overdid it and hurt the baby in some way. I've had no cramping or spotting or anything that would indicate a problem but I definitely overdid it yesterday in hindsight :( Do you think I should be worried?

Ps. How retired old people do gardening so enthusiastically and energetically baffles me.

almondbutter · 08/04/2016 18:44

jamjar that sounds very uncomfortable. Don't have much in the way of advice other than to rest up and be gentle on yourself, I'm afraid.

How are you all, especially Londoners, finding public transport?

Currently in back of an Uber and this close to being sick because driver is slamming brakes (have asked him not too) despite chugging Lucozade. Got the car because Overground rammed at this time of day and I couldn't stand up for 40 minute journey.
I find Tube the least sicky if I can avoid rush hour though options to get off/actually be sick are less good on Tube than car or bus.

FuzzyOwl · 08/04/2016 18:50

I've only eaten Maltesers today. I really need to find and cook something healthy for this evening.

OP posts:
fuzzywuzzy · 08/04/2016 19:08

Jamjar I have my hours adjusted so I avoid rush hour. Wandering if I should order a 'baby on board' badge. But as I'm feeling well in myself I don't really feel like I should.

FuzzyO can you make something quick and filling, like a Spanish omelette, curry (I just chick everything in and allow to cook), or order a pizza? I slept two hours straight this afternoon, had day off and so glad for it.

Btw my next scan is 10 weeks, 9th May.

FuzzyOwl · 08/04/2016 19:13

Ordering a pizza, especially on a Friday, is my cooking speciality! But we had a takeaway last night so DH might decide to be healthy and sensible (Confused) and cook something. I'll probably post later that I had mashed potato or something followed by more Maltesers! Blush

OP posts:
FuzzyOwl · 08/04/2016 19:14

Ten weeks for your next scan?! That seems like ages! Hopefully it will pass quite quickly for you now and you feel much more reassured after today's scan.

CakeAndChocolate · 08/04/2016 19:16

JamJar my understanding of the "no heavy lifting" advice when pg is that because your muscles are relaxed from hormones you are more like to cause yourself an injury. It's nothing to do with harming baby, just that you will feel a bit sore (as you can now testify!).
I have no choice but to continue to lug my 2st DS around and figure other people must continue to do this too.

CakeAndChocolate · 08/04/2016 19:19

Almond I get the Waterloo & City line, whilst rammed you can usually time it to hang back a bit and get a seat on the next tube. Because everyone gets on and off at the same place I don't find it too bad to be honest, the thing I hate most about tubes is the pushing to get on and off at each stop.
Hope your Uber driver starts driving sensibly soon, he'll regret it if not!

Thurlow · 08/04/2016 19:20

almond, I have my Baby on Board badge and I have to say I ordered it as soon as I got a positive test Blush The train is fine, the Tube is hit and miss. Luckily I'm on the Piccadilly Line this time (last time was the Northern Line London Bridge to Kings Cross at rush hour, oh it was hideous) and it is nicer. Still, some days people go out of their way to push me towards seats and then get me one, other days people just ignore it. The badge gives me more confidence though, I have to say. If I'm feeling fine I just stand in a good corner and don't make a fuss, if I'm feeling rubbish I manouevre my way to the aisle and so far someone has always offered me a seat.

I'd love to change my hours but nothing but my hours works with DD's childcare. Hope no one else is suffering too much on public transport.

Thurlow · 08/04/2016 19:25

I'm just ordering a dirty pizza with extra garlic sauce as I'm in alone tonight and so no DP force feeding me dhal and other 'nutritious' foods

I think there is pineapple on it. And tomato sauce. Does that count?

FuzzyOwl · 08/04/2016 19:32

That sounds like two of your five a day to me Thurlow. Grin

OP posts:
CakeAndChocolate · 08/04/2016 19:41

Now I fancy dominos crusts with garlic sauce Thurlow. Sadly I've got steamed veg on the go.....

Jamjar12 · 08/04/2016 19:46

Yes Thurlow, definitely!

Thanks cake, that makes me feel better! Yes I'm definitely feeling it today haha.

My friend had a Mind the Bump badge- I thought it was brilliant. I've got some unknown problem the doctors have never been able to diagnose where my belly bloats as if I'm about 6/7 months pregnant for an hour or so. I've always had very positive experiences of people giving up their seats and being careful on tubes (well, positive as in shows people are sometimes thoughtful but obviously awkwardly embarrassing for me until I learnt to just accept it lol). Sod's law will be no one ever does it when I get a real bump!!!

LemonShizzleCake · 08/04/2016 20:24

Congrats on your scan fuzzy! That's great news Smile

LittleGrey I am also on the prune juice and have found it much more palatable if it's ice cold, so try that if you're not already!

MoreCake not only are we matching NN and due date buddies, but I will also be going to Kings! I live very nearby, small world...I'll probably see you in a waiting room at some point!

Also struggling to squeeze veg into my diet at the moment, but have bought carrots, cucumber etc today so I can snack on those instead of biscuits. Sometimes. I also have a pack of gingernuts in my bedside drawer, can't get out of bed in the morning without one.

Welcome to all the newbies and Flowers as appropriate to anyone who needs them...apologies but my hormone addled brain can't remember all the detail, this thread moves so fast Blush

Happy Friday!
