twinkle I did see a doctor (actually, a doctor phoned me after I cried when the receptionist told me the woman in front of me had nabbed the last appointment for the day) and she advised me to come off my ADs. Although she was umming and arring for ages, saying how it's a really tough one to judge, so she called a psychiatrist who then said that yes, I should try and come off them...

I'm on 150mg of Sertraline and they make such a difference to my wellbeing that I'm nervous about coming off them. The psychiatrist said that I need to aim to be off them by the end of the second trimester because they're most concerned about taking them in the third trimester. So I'm starting to lower my dosage now and hopefully in a few weeks I can come off them completely.

Tbh I've read so much about this, so much that says it's really not something to worry about that I think it's just because I'm on a higher dosage than the minimum 'maintenance' 50mg that I need to reduce it.

It's so worrying! I've just kept taking mine because I know the withdrawal effects are horrendous and I can't deal with all that on top of all the pregnancy symptoms Grin

ANYWAY sorry for the huge braindump, it's just so nice to be able to talk to people about being pregnant! I just got my booking in appointment - 6th May! It's made it feel so much more real!

FuzzyOwl · 05/04/2016 17:42

onthemetro pregnancy is so worrying but hopefully you will be feeling more relaxed and less sick/tired etc by the second trimester, so in a better place to start coming off them. I have always found the very last bit of coming off ADs the worst in terms of side effects so hopefully you will be on enough of a dose to avoid that.

Just been called in to see my doctor about the urine sample I gave my midwife and I have a uti that has gone up to my kidney and that is why I have been having such bad pain on my left side (I haven't been able to lie on it and in my melodramatic and eternally pessimistic way I assumed it was because I was miscarrying that it hurt so much). Thankfully some antibiotics should clear it and I feel so stupid for not speaking to the doctor sooner. So glad my midwife insisted on me spending quarter of an hour in the loo to dredge up enough for a sample now!

Beedles Now you mention it I think they can eat pate, sausage liver pate (leverpostei if it's the same) is actually recommened as it's full of iron.. but also vit.A! I just follow all the NHS's recommendations, pregnancy wasn't as bad as with a baby though - I kept being told to use pillows and duvets and feed him lots of porridge. I just ignored them.

Poor you Fuzzy I've had a kidney uti, they are so painful! Hope the ab sort you out.

I've made it to the end of the day and the baby is in bed.. I can't work out how early is too early to go to bed. I'm thinking 8:30 shows willing to talk to DH and spend time with him while still giving me a good 11hrs sleep.

Fedupithink · 05/04/2016 18:38

Sorry to those of you suffering again today. I'm doing ok today, which always makes me nervous.

I have so much going on at work at the moment I keep forgetting to make sure I eat and I can barely keep my eyes open past about 2pm. I've actually had to have a secret nap in the toilets this week! Blush

FuzzyOwl · 05/04/2016 18:51

Ameilius thank you and it is never too early to go to bed!

Hope the secret naps helped Fedup.

Fedupithink · 05/04/2016 19:17

It really did! Luckily the toilets at work are very nice, like mini bathrooms all behind individual doors. I know some of the younger teams do it too but usually due to hangovers so I'm reasoning that it's fine!

Thurlow · 05/04/2016 19:18

Oh no, Fuzzy, hope the ab's kick in soon.

FuzzyOwl · 05/04/2016 19:19

That sounds much more civilised than what we have at my company Fedup!

Hi all... Found out 2 weeks ago I was expecting our second child. Total and utter shock!!! It still hasn't sunk in yet and I've been reluctant to ask if I could join in because I keep thinking... There's no way I'm going to have two children it just won't happen to me. You see our DD is 4yo and I was diagnosed with depression when she was 18 months old. I've had a pretty rough few years and having another child was just never really discussed as I was concentrating on getting better!! Me and my DH are both thrilled although I'm more anxious. I had an early scan and I'm 8w 5d today!! Due to my depression it's very easy for me to think so negatively so I'm finding it difficult to get excited!! I love how supportive you all are to each other and as a second time mum I'm happy to help with any questions from first mums-to-be if I can and hopefully some of you maybe able to help me along the way!!! Looking forward to getting involved!! Smile

FuzzyOwl · 05/04/2016 20:23

Congratulations Happyland and I really hope things go well and you are able to get excited about this baby. Great news that you have had a good scan already.

Thurlow · 05/04/2016 20:30

Hi Happy, sounds like we're going to have the same age gap between DCs - we can hold hands in September when they start school Grin

Happylandpirate · 05/04/2016 20:43

Thank you. Yes if I could have picked a perfect to have my second it would be when DD started school. I work full time shifts, as does my DH. This way, providing everything goes to plan of course, I can take her to school and pick her up every for her first year!! So the timing is perfect, I'm just willing the time to pass now.. Every week closer I get to 12 weeks feels a bit more real!!! Smile

Thurlow · 05/04/2016 20:53

Ditto! All my friends thought we were silly to leave such a big gap, now they have realised I'll be at home alone with a baby rather than wrangling a toddler as well.

And yes, we also both work f/t, DP often doing shifts too, so it will be nice to have at least that first year off. Can I ask what you do with the shift work?

Lucymoomoo · 05/04/2016 20:59

Hi all I am hoping I can join in the chat! I am due my third on the 30th November (or there about) I have two sons already. My eldest will be 4 in May and my youngest 1 in May.
Excited to get to know you all and congratulations xx

St4r · 05/04/2016 21:04

Thanks for link fuzzy

FuzzyOwl · 05/04/2016 21:06

Welcome Lucy. My DD will be 1 in May.

Glad you found us St4r.

Thanks Rae and FuzzyOwl Smile

FuzzyOwl hope you're starting to feel better now you have the antibiotics.

Happyland and Thurlow one of my best friends has a very similar age gap and the boys have a lovely relationship-the older one was so sweet with the younger one, always making the baby laugh Smile

St4r · 05/04/2016 21:22

Hi all. How bad are your aches and pains. My back and neck is so bad it hurts when I walk, sit, lay down. Haven't felt this bad since I pulled a muscle in my back. Does this sound normal? Like most of you I'm terrified I'll mc

JadeT2 · 05/04/2016 21:59

My back pain is awful too, I've just bought a pregnancy pillow in an attempt to help it as it's terrible at night and after standing/walking for long periods. My GP was useless unfortunately but I would advise you to go see yours or mention to your midwife if you've started antenatal care.

Is anyone else still waiting on contact from a midwife? I'm 8w4d now and still haven't heard anything?

Twinklelittlestar1 · 05/04/2016 22:13

Onthemetro I know exactly what you mean. My tablets allowed me to feel 'normal' so it was so daunting to think of being without them. Maybe try to read up about withdrawal from them because as you start to come off you Could have a few mild side effects so it's probably best to be in the know. On my tablet I get a kind of 'head rush' which kicks in after about a week of reducing them. The first time it happened it terrified me but because I was in the know the second time, I just rode it out.

Also, do speak to your doctor if you feel overwhelmed. I've made the decision to stay on my tablet at a very low dose. It's not a decision I've taken lightly and I've done a lot of research but in the end I'll be no good to anyone if I can't actually function!

St4r · 05/04/2016 22:16

Thanks I'll try that. It's consist. Hasn't eased off for 2 days. Midwife doesn't want to see me untill 11 weeks. They don't seem to pay much attention untill 11/12 weeks. I'm going to book an appointed with my GP about my back ache. Have haven't felt nauseous for 2 days either so I'm really worried

FuzzyOwl · 05/04/2016 22:20

That back pain doesn't sound normal for what I have experienced St4r. I am glad you are going back to your doctor to have it checked out (in case you have pulled a muscle) but also see if you need a physio referral. I know it is easy to say but symptoms really do come and go and after a couple of days without nausea, you might feel awful again later in the week.

OP posts:
St4r · 05/04/2016 22:23

I'm really worried fuzzy. It sounds daft and as awful as it feels at the time. I hope the nausea does come back soon. It makes me feel pregnant and stops me worrying so much

FuzzyOwl · 05/04/2016 22:46

I'm like you St4r in the sense that when I feel worse I feel better because psychologically I assume things are ok, even though that really isn't true. It might be worth asking your GP for a referral to your EPU if you are that anxious, or else look to book in a reassurance scan at a private clinic.

BeedlesPineNeedles · 06/04/2016 06:48

Yes ameilius leverpastej och knäckebröd is considered an ideal pregnancy snack. I think other than that the guidelines are pretty similar for what foods are ok to eat.

St4r that back pain does sound nasty, perhaps you should see a dr incase there is something they can do to ease the pain. I don't Think it sounds like something is wrong with the pregnancy, but I do understand about worrying about symptoms coming and going.

I had a lovely nap on the sofa yesterday before dinner, I felt sooo much better afterwards. I don't know how those of you with toddlers can manage!
