Twinklelittlestar1 · 04/04/2016 23:37

onthemetro I meant to say, I too am still taking ADs. Did you manage to speak to a doctor? Last year, I became pregnant out of the blue (sadly MC at 5 weeks) but it was such a whirlwind and the doctor immediately said I must 'come off' the tablet (citalopram) I was horrified as I'd had them for years for GAD but followed his advice and quickly felt horrific.

This time because it was a planned pregnancy I tried many things in the months leading up to ttc to come off the tablet. I tried homeopathy, supplements and also changed my diet. In the end I've been able to reduce my dose but not completely come off the tablets. I was ready to be firm when I approached the doctor about this but he actually said that my dose is so low that it will be fine.

Us anxious peeps don't need more excuses to be anxious!

Twinklelittlestar1 · 04/04/2016 23:39

Speaking of being anxious, my Neice is coming for the weekend on Friday and has just told me she's been diagnosed with scarlet fever! She's on antibiotics and I've read it won't cause any harm but I'm a bit worried, anyone with a medical degree?!

ChatEnOeuf · 05/04/2016 07:11

If she's already had a couple of days of antibiotics, Twinkle, she will no longer be infectious.

Yes, Thurlow, nights start in a couple of weeks - I feel dreadful most of the day so goodness only knows what the nights will bring. S&V Pringles I hope. Thanks for the good luck wishes, I expect I'll need it!

Canters15 · 05/04/2016 07:50

Do nights affect you much chat? They make me feel ill at the best of times so goodness knows what preg nights will be like. I've got some the weekend after next but suspect they will be rather less busy then yours!

LeaningJowler · 05/04/2016 07:51

Thanks Fuzzy! The only extra scan with my IVF treatment is the one at 7-8 weeks. I've now been handed back to the normal midwife/appointment system.

This morning I'm got a terrible headache, but I really don't want to take anything. Hopefully it shifts by itself soon!

AlbusPercival · 05/04/2016 08:44

Leaning - I heard women more likely to get dehydration headaches, so try having a big glass of eater

CakeAndChocolate · 05/04/2016 09:09

Morning. Hello Katie and Leaning congratulations to you both.
I woke up feeling much much better after my day of total rest yesterday but now I've been up less than 2 hours the nausea and exhaustion are back in all their glory

Spottyladybird · 05/04/2016 09:20

My DH got home from a night shift this morning to me in tears 'I'm just so tired!'
He sent me up for a bath and he took charge of the toddler. Feeling a bit better now.

BeedlesPineNeedles · 05/04/2016 09:54

Hi all

I've been lurking for ages but was too scared about jinxing everything to post! I'm 9+2 after 5 years of trying, multiple IVF attempts and a few early miscarriages as well. But I've had 2 early scans so there's definitely a baby in there with a heartbeat (just the one mind you, no twins here!)

Sorry that so many of you are feeling really rough, I've had a bit of nausea but nothing too terrible.

My due date is 6th November, I didn't want to know the actual date yet but the dr told me after my 7 week scan when I was discharged from the fertility clinic. Was a bit late to say I don't want to know yet!

Oh and I'm another one not in the UK, though I did speak to the midwife in English when booking my booking-in appointment. Having said that I managed all the IVF stuff in the local language so not sure which language we'll continue in, probably a bit of both.

coppergrey · 05/04/2016 10:44

Hi everyone, hope you're all feeling as well as can be today.

The exhaustion is really kicking in for me now... I just can't work up the energy to DO anything! Which is quite inconvenient on a Tuesday morning. Someone mentioned salt and vinegar Pringles up thread and now that's all I can think about so might walk to the shop (oh god! WALKING!) and get myself some.

Anyone else just wanting to eat beige carbs and nothing else?

almondbutter · 05/04/2016 10:48

My tea for the last few days has been pasta with cheddar and a little bit of butter. I have been eating like a 5yo for the last few weeks.
DH and I went on holiday to India in mid-March. It was all I could do even to sit near him while he was eating all this delicious/suddenly totally disgusting curry while I had yet more rice and yet another chocolate milk.

coppergrey · 05/04/2016 10:52

Sounds about right, almond! The thought of curry right now... ugh. And usually I love it!

I'm going on holiday to the US in a month and really hoping I'll be over the nausea/tiredness by then... I'll be 11-12 weeks while we're there so maybe just about? Fingers crossed!

almondbutter · 05/04/2016 10:58

ha, me too -- friend's wedding in Midwest and then a road trip. Even if we're not feeling better by then at least there's plenty waffles/mash/carby goodness on hand and US has such friendly service that you needn't feel bad about asking for things to arrive a little sooner or a bit different if your tummy can't take something on the menu. What's lovely is that I am seeing a group of old girlfriends there (leaving DH at home) and will hopefully arrive with a bump-sized nice surprise for them all.

FuzzyOwl · 05/04/2016 11:03

At least you got one extra scan Leaning.

Welcome Beedles.

For me the tiredness is only just properly kicking in but then I am not working at the moment, so things are probably easier (even if I do have a baby to look after, at least she likes naps as much as I do).

I don't feel sick or particularly have any cravings but no food really appeals and I don't have much of an appetite. Rich Tea and Nice biscuits seem to be my main diet at the moment, along with water or lemonade.

My boobs don't hurt but they are a fraction fuller, which I am also claiming as a symptom. If I try for another baby, I am going to delay testing for as long as possible as time is just dragging so much at the moment.

CakeAndChocolate · 05/04/2016 11:34

Hi Beedles and congratulations.

FuzzyO time is dragging for me too, but holiday time went quite quickly so hopefully yours will too. I'm currently contemplating getting a private scan before the 12 week one (even though I've already had an NHS early scan) just to try and help the wait, but I think it's a bit OTT to spend the money in the absence of any worrying symptoms.

Spottyladybird · 05/04/2016 12:14

Yes yes to pasta, butter and cheese. Food of champions! Although I upgraded to stuffed pasta yesterday.

Ameilius · 05/04/2016 12:17

Beedles We're due date buddies Smile

I'm curious about where all the non-uk'ers are. I'm in Norway (I don't think it's especially outing to say it since I'm pretty sure I mentioned it on my last ante-natal thread and those are the only ones I really post on).

I had s&v pringles the other day but they were so salty - have they been made saltier recently? They actually hurt my tongue after a while! I'm addicted to anything in breadcrumbs - just had a fish in sauce and breadcrumb thing for lunch. Just the idea of salad makes me feel sick..

BeedlesPineNeedles · 05/04/2016 12:33

Hi ameilius I'm not far away from you at all, I'm in Sweden! Is pate allowed for pregnant women in Norway too? I was really quite shocked when I read the advice for here, and my pregnancy vitamins contain Vit A. I think that is top of my list of questions for the midwife at my booking in next week!

Time really does drag, I said to the midwife when she booked my 7 week scan after my BFP that 3 weeks was ages away! As it was I had an even earlier scan at 5+5 as they were worried about some pain I had. I wasn't hugely worried but I wasn't going to turn down the opportunity of checking that something actually was happening in there.

I have also thought about another scan before 12 weeks but 3 early scans really would be over the top!

findingmyfeet12 · 05/04/2016 12:48

I'm in France.

I've been eating salt and vinegar Pringles almost daily. I can only manage bland food aside from that.

I bashed my stomach a bit against the turnstile in the entrance to the underground today. It wasn't too bad but it scared me and I had a few twinges of pain afterwards. I hate things like that because I can't stop fretting about them.

coppergrey · 05/04/2016 12:58

Hope you're ok findingmyfeet - every knock and bump is terrifying, isn't it?

Enjoying all the Pringles love today - I've eaten half a tube since my trip to the shop earlier!

FuzzyOwl · 05/04/2016 13:00

I had a big s&v craving at the start of pregnancy but now I also find it hurts my mouth to eat too much. Love Pringles though!

CakeAndChocolate · 05/04/2016 14:13

All this food talk is making me queasy! I usually love food programmes on tv but just can't watch MasterChef at the moment.

Hope you are ok finding I worry about every bump and knock too.

BeedlesPineNeedles · 05/04/2016 15:49

finding your little bean is still really well protected deep inside you, I'm sure you haven't done any harm. But everything is so worrying, I'm amazed pregnant women don't go completely mad with the worrying!

I'm home now on the sofa and its great, I was feeling so tired this afternoon.

Thurlow · 05/04/2016 15:49

Afternoon all, hope everyone is feeling ok today and hello to all the newbies, especially our new IVF ladies!

I'm checking in trying to be more positive today. Made it to the doctors about the fainting and he thinks it's sinuses, so I have something to take (for anyone who has sinus issues, apparently the steriod-based sprays are fine). I've also taken today sick and will stay off tomorrow to give myself some time to rest and for my sinuses to start getting better.

So! positive mental attitude. I'm not as bad as last time. I'm not suffering as badly as many of you are. Yes, I've got a long commute and all that but at least I have an easy desk job. And a husband who cooks for me every night and, surprisingly, the curries are going down quite well. Plus DD is 4, not 2, so she's much easier to look after than those of you with babies and toddler still.

Happy Thurlow! not at all created by spending most of the day playing computer games Blush

FuzzyOwl · 05/04/2016 16:49

Glad to read that Thurlow and hopefully you remain positive and happy.

I think our stomachs are quite tender with all the stretching going on finding so the after effects of a knock feel much worse than they really are. As already said, your baby is cushioned safely away.
