I couldn't post on last thread so hope everyone finds this one!

Great pic annaB and what a lucky girl having four big brothers! I always wanted a big brother and not just because I imagined he'd have cute friends

AnnaR hope you're feeling better now. And glad everyone else seems to be doing ok. I turned 17 weeks a couple of days ago and so so so thankful that I'm eventually feeling much better! Absolutely wiped out by the end of the day but able to eat more now so I think energy will be back soon Smile

DH is off today, yay! Family coming for lunch and the sun is out...happy days

It took me 5 days after Arabella was born to name her. I found it so hard, I have four boys and they have quite traditional popular names; i wanted something a little different for Arabella. I did like Erin,Eden, Mila and Arabella, dp said no to the first two and she didn't look like a Mila...but still I just couldn't commit to ara until day 5.

Clothes wise, with the boys I'd always wore leggings and jeans post birth i had packed the same this time not having an emergency c section in my head...even leggings felt uncomfortable and whilst I was in there i lived in my night gowns lol. Im now 12 days post section and jeans are ok but keep making my wound swell back up. So today I have a below the knee dress on...Lots more comfortable :)

balalalala · 24/07/2016 12:45

I love the name Olivia, but agree, it's popular. I was thinking maybe as a middle name it would work.

I'm planning to take tracksuit bottoms with a drawer string waist and a button down shirt - ever the height of fashion me!

Annarose2014 · 24/07/2016 13:42

I brought "lounge wear" with me the last time. From the sleepwear section but more daytime. A dark grey set with loose trousers and a top with buttons for BFing. I think even without a section leggings would be too tight around the middle as your tummy is big and uncomfortable regardless.

Sharesinpampers · 24/07/2016 16:14

Bobby I had a third degree tear last time and so I had the choice of birth this time round. Did lots of research and decided c-section would be the best option this time. I have my date (eek!) and if I go into labour early it will be an emergency c-section.

Anna I hadn't thought about leggings post section, actually hadn't thought about clothes at all! Think I'll get some night dresses and feeding dresses for after hospital.

Any other advice for a c-section?

My DP and I have also had a name since we found out it was a boy: decided to go for something Irish as my partner has Irish heritage, so he will be called Quinn Smile

Bobbycatz · 24/07/2016 18:56

insert Quinn is lovely!

Shares it's good to know you were given a choice, I always hear stories of people not getting their birth choice for one reason or another. Not long to go now then, exciting!

I think I'm going to invest in some black joggers that look half decent for after.

Can I ask how soon after having the baby do they let you shower?

Annabrooke90 · 24/07/2016 21:37

Shares, pants that come really high, some of the full pants I had come to the level my wound was at so I couldn't use them. Have a pillow or towel handy with you, I developed a cough after the section and in the early days it was painful to cough or sneeze, sitting and pressing one of those two onto the wound eased it a little.
Last night was my first night sleeping in my own bed too, it was much easier to sleep on the sofa whilst it was healing. Positioning lots of cushions behind my back and head so sitting up was easier.
Keep on top of pain meds too- I think initially they had given me morphine for when I woke up, but then they put me on tramadol for the rest of that day- i stopped taking it the day after as it made me sleepy so had paracetamol and ibuprofen and kept them regular on the earlier days.
Peeing was abit hard at first too for me, but not sure if that was from the section or the catheter- drinking lots of fluids helped and taking time which was annoying but it did get better.
Loose comfy bras that are easy to get off on and off as stretching about at first can be uncomfortable.
They also gave me stockings for prevention of blood clots, so things to wear that cover them lol and they also gave me 10 days of injections to inject myself in the tummy with to thin the blood...so you may also get these.

Bobby, they do let you shower straight away usually if the birth has been straight forward etc, ds4 i had him had my skin to skin etc, then I had toast and tea and straight into the shower.

MrsCeee · 25/07/2016 02:32

Hi everyone. I hope you're all coping with the heat! We're still sleeping with the fan on but I'm glad the temperature's dropped now.

Welcome, to the new ladies!

DiamondInTheRuff sorry to hear you're sorting out most things on your own. Have you spoken to DH about being more supportive now that Baby's almost here?

Annabrooke how is Arabella doing now?

Bobby, what Annabrooke said. I was in the shower minutes after delivering the placenta with DS and I remember my younger sister was the same when she had her son 6 years ago.
I wore regular leggings with a loose, long knitted top after DS and that was comfortable. I'll pack leggings again or go for a loose dress this time.

Balala we've decided on Olivia for a middle name. DH and I have been using the first name favourite with DS, just to see how it sounds but it could still change.

We spent the day looking for a moses basket without any luck. I hadn't realised how difficult it would be to find a pink one that is "pink enough" and also not a garish pink.

For those wanting to join the FB group, you can PM me your email address and I'll invite you to the group.

NisekoWhistler · 25/07/2016 02:43

I've been following these threads since the very start after I found out in February. Now that I'm 31 weeks I've finally had the courage to post. Please can I be added to the Facebook group?
Thanks

QueenEnid · 25/07/2016 08:12

Can I be added to the Fb group too please?!
What's it called?x

sparkleshine83 · 25/07/2016 08:24

Ditto again with the FB group :-)

Runningbutnotscared · 25/07/2016 08:28

Oh! Is there an fb group?

So impressed that people have names all ready. I have loads of boy names picked which isn't very helpful because I'm having a girl!

emcee56 · 25/07/2016 11:09

Hey all - I'm another lurker... I only found this thread relatively recently having been stuck on the heavily Americanized 'what to expect' board. Nice to see people talking about subjects I can actually relate to! Would love to be added to a fb group. Little boy is due 12 Sep - ftm.

Annabrooke90 · 25/07/2016 11:23

MrsCee- Arabella is doing amazing; she has gained a little weight back and is now 3ib 10. She's been moved to a cot from the incubator so is now dressed etc. Her feeds have gone from hourly to three hourly and the only thing left to do now is to establish proper feeds and get rid of the tube :)

MrsCeee · 25/07/2016 15:42

That's great news Anna! I'm so glad to hear she is doing so well.

Welcome to the new ladies!

leoniethelioness · 25/07/2016 19:31

PMed you, Mrs. Thank you!

Our little boy who is due 28 September will be called Theodore. We chose the name after our 20 week scan and it's stuck so I think it's the one.

Danni89 · 25/07/2016 21:44

Hi girls..

Hope everyone's ok, can't believe some of you are so close to the finish line!

Been suffering with some dull period type pain over the weekend, anyone had this??

Had my last NHS birthing session today which was good.

My last day at work before mat leave is next Thursday, so my department are planning a meal for me this friday. Really looking forward to finishing and enjoying a bit of me time. Then my baby shower is next weekend, lots happening!

Oh and pink I had my massage last week- was on my side and then back, but raised with pillows- it was lovely.

Sharesinpampers · 26/07/2016 12:28

Bobby I think it was easy for me to have the choice because the c-section was recommended by my GP and midwife and the official guidelines say the patient has the choice in this particular scenario. Because I ended up in theatre I didn't get a shower until I think about 30 hours later. I was in the ward by that point and no DH with me (they're not allowed to stay in my hospital 24/7). Crazily I left my baby and went for a shower, of course she cried. I still can't believe I left my baby on a ward with no one looking after her Blush I think I just wasn't with it at all and couldn't think straight. I could have easily waited until my DH was there.

Anna thanks for the advice, I'll be packing appropriately! Glad Arabella is doing so well.

Womenareliketeabags · 26/07/2016 18:43

Hi everyone!

Firstly congrats Anna can't believe there is a baby already!

I'm in need of reassurance. I'm in no way prepared for this baby. I've done nothing! I'm 34+2 today and although I have everything I need (all saved from DC1) it's all still in the loft, DC1 is still in the nursery and I need to turn the spare room into his new room and move him in, hospital bag isn't even a bag yet let alone packed and house is a mess! This time last pregnancy EVERYTHING was sorted and ready. In just over 2 and a half weeks I will be considered full term. However in reality it's probably more likely 7 weeks til baby arrives (DC1 was 16 days over) but I've been feeling panicked and stressed about it all. Don't know whether it's because I've started mat leave now. Anyone else unprepared?

13loki · 27/07/2016 03:22

Hi. Can I join in? I did post ages ago at the start of my pregnancy, but then we had a scary test result (all ended up fine) and my SIL lost a pregnancy (due a month after me and lost to the same reason as our scare) and I just felt guilty and so haven't really connected as much with this pregnancy, or talked about it much. I am 32+3 with my 4th child. I am from Australia, but hd my first 2 children in England before moving to Sweden, where I had my third child.

Currently freaking out over having to have another glucose tolerance test - I had one 3 weeks ago and it was fine, but I had high glucose in my finger prick test yesterday at the midwife, so back in the morning for another 2 hour GTT. I hate the sugar drink and last time I cried because it was so horrible.

user1469477657 · 27/07/2016 10:08

Hi there,

Can I join please? Baby boy due 16th sept I'm 32 +4 now. I'm sort of getting ready but agree with other posters who say they're kind of not fully getting into the prep groove. Would like to join the fb page too.

rosegoldie · 27/07/2016 11:12

Anyone else's baby in transverse position?

I'm 31 weeks so plenty of time for baby to move but am now scaring myself reading about being admitted at 36 weeks in case of cord prolapse etc

Confused
sparkleshine83 · 27/07/2016 15:50

teabags I hear you - our proposed completion for buying our house is in 3-4 weeks which is a nightmare situation as we are still stuck on the sofa bed at my mother's and I have nowhere to put any baby items so have next to nothing. Infinitely stressful but I am trying to look at the bright side - I live in the first world, can afford a house and post of who you are is how you handle adversity but I won't lie, I've shed a few tears and I do feel a bit guilty as I know the baby reacts to my stress (they kick a LOT when I'm upset).

On the plus side! 😁 I just had my 32 week scan and finally found out the gender, it's a girl! We probably will call them Isabel Persephone😀

sparkleshine83 · 27/07/2016 15:52

Also they have been cephalic most appointments for a while now but back to back... I am really hoping they, wait, SHE turns!
