I couldn't post on last thread so hope everyone finds this one!

Great pic annaB and what a lucky girl having four big brothers! I always wanted a big brother and not just because I imagined he'd have cute friends

AnnaR hope you're feeling better now. And glad everyone else seems to be doing ok. I turned 17 weeks a couple of days ago and so so so thankful that I'm eventually feeling much better! Absolutely wiped out by the end of the day but able to eat more now so I think energy will be back soon Smile

DH is off today, yay! Family coming for lunch and the sun is out...happy days

Annarose no! We're the more... experienced ladies!

I've been very lucky as I haven't suffered from any sickness or nausea throughout. Just always tired although that's definitely improved in the last week. I'm pretty certain I'm feeling bubs moving around now (18 wks) mostly when I'm trying to go to sleep!

We've fallen in love with the pricey oak furniture land nursery range that we looked at last weekend. I also think we've decided on a maxi cosi stella pram. It's so exciting!

Oh balls, I messed up the carefully ordered-by-date list. Let's try again and blame baby brain.

Hello everyone, can I join this thread? I'm due September 15th so 16 weeks now. I had just started getting over the truly awful morning sickness last week then yesterday came down with an absolutely stinking cold so I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself. I have a 2 year old so I don't get to take much time to myself to rest and feel better. I'm 'working from home' today while he's at nursery though so making the most of it! How does everyone else feel now?

Sharesinpampers · 01/04/2016 11:54

Welcome so, you're in good company. I was still feeling rotten at 16 weeks but now at 18 weeks and feeling much better though not 100%.

Gemma I didn't get a glider chair first time round, thinking I wouldn't use it for long. I'm definitely getting one this time though. I ended up going downstairs to the sofa to feed (wasn't comfy in bed) and then when DD was older I sat on an uncomfortable dining chair in her room. Even after 12 months I wished I had one for those times she was teething and needed cuddled at night.

We got an Uppababy Vista for DD which I love. I'll buy the second toddler chair for it and use it this time too.

Welcome so! I too have come down with a hideous cold and feeling very sorry for myself today - had lots of plans of things to do round the house today but struggling to breathe means moving around without becoming breathless/dizzy is tricky!

I've indulged in using some saved birthday money to have a pregnancy massage tomorrow morn which I'm really looking forward to (but not the 'preparing'/shaving my legs part Blush!)

I was very kindly given a beautiful, personalised rocking chair as a gift from my class last year so when I go on mat-leave I will be bringing it home to put in the nursery!

Oooh shares the Uppababy vista is the one we like the best so far! There's so much choice in the shops and although it's a bit bigger than others, it seems so user-friendly and being married to an engineer he likes how it's made!

Sharesinpampers · 01/04/2016 14:07

We really do like it sparkly, it's so comfortable for the wee one. It is a bit bigger and a bit heavy getting in and out of the car but very easy to manoeuvre. Copes well with kerbs and bumps. If you do get it, buy the baby insert. We found DD got fed up of the cot part quite quickly so it was great when she was able to support her head putting her in the chair part.

The cot bit is safe to sleep in overnight so we used it for naps. Have I sold it yet?!

Your rocking chair sounds very sweet Smile

Marvellous thanks shares! I haven't known/seen anyone with one so its good to get some real-life experience feedback!
I'm pretty sure we're 99% sold on it - just need to decide when to get it?!

Can you/anyone recommend a good lightweight baby car seat that clips in/out of car/buggy? Needs to be lightweight as I struggle with lifting/twisting at the best of times, let alone when it's got a mini-human in it too!

I've been hopeless at everything lately including posting on here. I'm just shattered all the time. Surely I should be glowing by now!! Will try to do better.

Lilliana · 01/04/2016 21:06

I had a vista for DD and will be using it for DC2. I love it. Used the cot bit to save buying a Moses basket that's only used for a couple of months. DD hated going out in it though so went to the seat quite early which you can do with the vista.

We have a maxi cost that clips on to the wheels and was v useful. Not sure how it compares for weight though.

Sharesinpampers · 01/04/2016 21:36

Same as Lilliana, we have Maxi Cosi pebble car seat as it would fit into the adapters which come with the Vista and gets good safety ratings from Which. I wasn't allowed to lift DD in it for 6 weeks after birth but they didn't know what car seat I had - just couldn't lift her in any car seat due to potential weight.

sparklystars20 · 03/04/2016 12:28

Thanks lilliana and shares - Seems like Maxi-Cosi are the most popular ones (when I'm eying up other people's prams wondering round!)
I don't want to over-buy things that will be used once and never again but also appreciate every baby has different preferences so... What should I buy for baby sleeping in the house?!
I like the idea of a 'next to me' crib as I hope to BF for as long as possible so would make it easier for night feeds? But then would I need a Moses basket for round the house as well? Or should I just get a Moses basket and forget the 'next to me' crib?
We will get a cot bed for the nursery but assuming baby won't be in there for a while so no rush for that! SmileThanksBrew

Lilliana · 03/04/2016 16:52

DD slept in the carry cot from the vista for a few months and then moved into a cot bed in our room - she was hitting the sides of the basket and waking herself up so I'm glad I didn't spend out on a Moses basket when she only used it for a few weeks. She co slept some nights when sleep regression was a nightmare but generally was fine in the cot bed with a sleeping bag. Every baby is different though so go with what feels right for you.

balalalala · 03/04/2016 21:51

How was everyone's weekends? We've been away with my parents and the pil which was really lovely. However I'm currently freaking out as my belly button has literally just half popped out. I'm only 18+3, is that even vaguely normal? I now feel like I'm having an alien as my belly button was moving. I actually have a phobia of belly buttons so this is really not cool!

Annarose2014 · 03/04/2016 23:51

Yeah, belly buttons go earlier than you think. Mine will only last a couple more weeks and I'm 16 weeks.

Oh by the way, today I was working on a ward I dont usually work on, with people I dont know. Halfway through the day I mention something about being pregnant and another nurse had no idea and was astounded. This despite my being twice as big as last time round cos of shit post-baby stomach muscles and bursting out of my uniform. I joked "did you just think I was fat?" and she answered.........WELL YES FRANKLY! Shock

Embarressing!

Annabrooke90 · 04/04/2016 08:04

Annarose :o I'm sure people just think I'm gaining weight, barely anyone knows not even my mum lol and all my clothes are now tight, no ones asked though so they probably don't want to offend me. Although it's not really my belly it's just all over. I'm 17+4 and gained more than a stone just not sure how much more than a stone haha. Oh I'm going to be huge.

Yes belly button popping is quite normal :) mine is definitely starting to change now.

balalalala · 04/04/2016 14:17

I'm glad it's normal but I'm still wierded out by it.. Lol

annarose how cheeky she was! At least you know she tells you what she thinks!

Aceberry · 04/04/2016 16:38

I remember being freaked out ba and putting a plaster over my belly button so it didn't poke through my top lol

SockQueen · 04/04/2016 18:50

So far only one of my mum's friends has guessed without being told, nobody at work realises until I tell them! But a)I have only put on 1kg so far, and am a bit fat anyway, so my bump is well cushioned and probably not noticeable and b)I wear scrubs all the time at work, which hide a multitude of sins!

Belly button still remains firmly inny though.

Lilliana · 05/04/2016 14:48

My belly button stayed in for the whole of my last pregnancy so hopefully will again.

I don't know if anyone has guessed but DD tells everyone that mummy has a baby in her tummy 'look' and then tries to pull my top up Blush

Ended up calling the ante natal ward as I still haven't had my results from 12 week scan. Apparently they sent them a month ago but have had several phone calls from ladies that haven't received them Hmm According to her all is low risk although I don't have any numbers.

Sharesinpampers · 05/04/2016 22:03

Another outie belly button here too! 1st time round it didn't pop out until 30 something weeks. This time it's been edging out since about week 14.

sparkly, I bought a Snuzpod as a co sleeper. I wanted the Chicco 'next to me' crib but couldn't get it before baby arrived. I LOVED having DD in a wee crib beside me and will be doing the same this time. The Snuzpod only lasted until about 4 months as it's quite small. DD then went into cot (and I slept on a mattress on the floor beside her until she was 6 months).

I used Uppababy cot but for putting her down downstairs to save buying a Moses basket. TBH she rarely went down preferring to nap on me instead until she was 9 months

Have fun choosing Smile We felt so overwhelmed with choice first time round but then it was lovely choosing things for our wee one.

PeppaPigStinks · 06/04/2016 08:39

Can I join you? 18 weeks and due the 6th September Smile

Only a few more weeks for my 20 week scan and still can't decide if I want to know.

sparklystars20 · 06/04/2016 09:15

Thanks for the advice lilly & shares and welcome peppa!!

Still got an 'inny' on the belly button front but my stomach is getting huge!

Anybody feeling movements yet? I'm sure I've been feeling wiggles for a while but now think I'm feeling more definite thumps Hmm

20 week scan a week tomorrow! Hopefully baby is not shy so we can find out gender Smile

Annarose2014 · 06/04/2016 09:25

We got gifted a Moses basket my BIL was finished with. Tbh I wasn't mad on it. It was on a rocker base but when you rocked it it travelled across the floor!

Then we got given a cradle that had flat feet on the floor but with hinges underneath that let it swing from side to side. Much much better as it didn't move on the carpet.

But then at around 4 months he'd grown out of both! But he was still too small to go into his own room so we ended up getting that cot from Mothercare that's the smallest one you can get (no room for anything bigger). We only used that for 3 months and then moved him into the big cot bed at 7 months he went into his own room.

Downstairs we bought a travel cot with changing table. He didn't nap in there for months as they want to nap on you but eventually he did. But in the early months the changing table was the greatest thing in the history of the universe! Now we use it as a ball pit lol.

If I hadn't been given anything I'd definitely have bought something to attach onto the bed.

Lilliana · 06/04/2016 18:24

Yes during the day DD would only nap on me until 9 months! I watched a lot of Netflix Grin
