I couldn't post on last thread so hope everyone finds this one!

Great pic annaB and what a lucky girl having four big brothers! I always wanted a big brother and not just because I imagined he'd have cute friends

AnnaR hope you're feeling better now. And glad everyone else seems to be doing ok. I turned 17 weeks a couple of days ago and so so so thankful that I'm eventually feeling much better! Absolutely wiped out by the end of the day but able to eat more now so I think energy will be back soon Smile

DH is off today, yay! Family coming for lunch and the sun is out...happy days

Been away for ages as had a bit of a nightmare time. DH lost his job - been there less than 2 years and no contract formally signed so apparently they don't have to give reasons or noticeShock Hmm. Luckily we have a friend who has set him up with work for the next couple of months but money is vvv tight and we need to get something permanent sorted before September. This may well include a house move too! I feel like I'm living in the twilight zone. Also need tit buy a few things - luckily not loads - but can't afford it atm Sad

I'm waking up around 1:30 am for about 3 hours- I'd forgotten that joyous side effect of pregnancy! So tired! Anyone else?

Everyone seems very organised. I'm putting in to start mat leave at 39 weeks. I can go earlier if I want but can't go later if I put in an early date. Last time I didn't pack my hospital bag until the night before I went in for induction Blush Must try to be a bit more organised this time round!!

We need to move DD to another bedroom but not sure it's worth it if we end up moving.

I used our sure start last time. It was amazing - lovely people who gave you tea, held baby while you had a wee, reassured you and have advice when needed and I had excellent BF support - much better than both he hospital and HV who all tried.

Anna so glad you got your uni place moved up.

Sorry all a bit me me me

MrsCeee · 24/05/2016 11:26

Oh AnnaBrooke you know your body best. I hope it's not difficult or you to get to the hospital because in your position I would simply keep going back until I felt they were at least taking me seriously (especially given your history).

It's good that you're looking into books. I'm sure there will be some online classes (even on Youtube) on preparing for labour and beyond. To be perfectly honest, although DH and I are glad we did the antenatal classes, there really wasn't anything new that we learnt. It was nice seeing other people in the same position and the classes were enjoyable but all of the information offered is already available elsewhere.

Shares I'm also considering the Chicco next2me simply because I want to co-sleep but DH isn't so keen as we're still co-sleeping with DS. I'm just wondering if I'll still need a moses basket for downstairs day-time naps (DS had outgrown it just before he was 3months old)

Lilliana I'm sorry to hear about DH. Mine lost his job a month before DS's due date with no warning and reason either. It was very stressful (for me) until I adopted his attitude and just focused on everything else. He ended up starting a new and better job when DS was 4 months old. The time we spent as new parents together was absolutely priceless and the best start for the 3 of us. I'm a firm believer in everything happening for a reason and yes it was stressful (for the first few weeks whilst my mind went into overdrive) but everything worked out and it was the best thing to happen to our family.

You're allowed to feel overwhelmed and stressed out by the situation but please stay encouraged. Try not to worry about the few things you still have left to buy. And feel free to vent away on here too Smile

Bobbycatz · 24/05/2016 13:47

Annabrooke I'm so sorry to hear the issues you’re having. i would defo push for further investigations, especially as this has happened before and therefore you know your body.

Lilli sorry to hear about your DH job. Hopefully he will start something soon and you can carry on with your moving plans.

I don't think I’m going to do the co-sleeping thing because I’m a little worried about stray blankets and also i have a cat which probably would think that the crib would be the perfect place to sleep as he already sleeps on our bed with us.

I have just purchased a sleepyhead, everyone seems to be raving about them so thought i would jump on the bandwagon. I'm hoping it will go inside the crib which will be next to our bed and then we will use a moses basket down stairs or vice versa as I’ve heard it’s good to have somewhere for baby to sleep downstairs.

I'm doing the NCT classes so am probably going to just get some hypnobirthing CDs otherwise the cost of all the birthing classes could be a bit overwhelming and I’m hoping that the NCT will allow me to meet more people in the area.

ohidoliketobe · 24/05/2016 19:37

Bobby we used the bassinet section of our pram for downstairs naps then just folded it up and put it in the car when we we needed it out and about
lilli so sorry to hear about your DHs job. What an awful situation! Must be such a shock, really hope everything sorts itself out for you.
I can't believe the difference in products since I had DS 2 years ago - next to me crib is very appealing and I've heard great things about sleepyheads. DH not so convinced. I am 100% buying a perfect prep machine closer to the time though, my friends who have had babies in the past 18 months (and ff obviously) rave about them. Always seem to be on half price offer somewhere so will hang on until mid Aug, think there's no point buying too early as you're having it sat there not being used and it eating into the warranty period.

balalalala · 24/05/2016 19:55

I ordered a chicco next2me at the weekend from tesco using their clubcard boost. Having used my vouchers ended up just paying £69 and it's due to arrive tomorrow!

Danni89 · 24/05/2016 20:09

I have the chicco next to me too -bala, arrives next Tuesday. Thinking about getting the sleepyhead too though, which we can put inside the crib and use elsewhere in the house

0hCrepe · 24/05/2016 21:11

Eek! My youngest will be 10 so I've never heard of any of this stuff! Having fun googling!

Dilligufdarling · 25/05/2016 09:06

Arrrrrrrrrgh SPD can do one right now!!!
Cannot do another 17.5weeks of this getting worse!!!!
Arrrrrrrrrgh!!!

(That is all...)

Annarose2014 · 25/05/2016 09:11

Oh the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep! I am evangelical about it! I got it half price in the Asda baby event. If any of you are planning on formula feeding you MUST get it. You go from having nothing to a perfect bottle in 2 minutes and can do it one handed. Essential with a baby in your arms who has suddenly (and loudly) decided he's hungry a good half hour before his next feed is due!

Some people bring it up to the bedroom every night but I didn't. It has a very loud beep when it finishes a bottle though some people but gaffer tape over the wee hole to muffle it a bit. I made up as many bottles as I needed and put them in a freezer bag with a couple of freezer blocks and brought that up. I never bought a bottle warmer either as didn't want to be stuck with a baby who would only drink warm milk! So he drank cold at night.

I breastfed for 3 months but then he was diagnosed with CMPI so had to go on special formula. I can categorically say that breastfeeding is easier at night, but bottles are easier in the day. So my nights got a bit harder but my days got easier! So I had conflicting feelings about it! But on the whole I think my stress levels definitely reduced when I had to switch to formula.

Dollface136 · 25/05/2016 12:49

Sorry about your bad luck lilli. You have a lot going on so no wonder it is a bit overwhelming. Glad your DH has a couple of months sorted though. That should give you some breathing room. Just take things one day at a time.

With regards the sleepyhead, I have heard great things but am really confused as some advice says you shouldn't have any bumpers/babynests etc in the cot due to suffocation risks or overheating? I just don't know what to believe really. Confused

I love the look of the chicco co sleeper but can't seem to find any deals on ebay at the mo and it is an expense we will have to do without it seems. I've got a bid on a snuzpod for £50 so fingers crossed that comes in.

Is anyone getting a Babybjorn Bouncer type chair?

Misshyip · 25/05/2016 19:17

Just wanted to share that I've been quoted £362 for the NCT signature antenatal course... I'm not on benefits so can't get the discount. But I'm not made of money either. Jeez, it's extortionate!

Bobbycatz · 25/05/2016 22:18

Wow Misshyip that is extortionate, we're doing the essential course as it's the closest to our house and it's costing us £125.

Dilligufdarling · 25/05/2016 22:54

That's crazy miss h ours was around the same as bobby's is the "signature course" something special I wonder?

sparklystars20 · 26/05/2016 07:11

Morning all, had a busy few weekends/weeks so been trying to keep up but not had a chance to post!

We've booked on the NCT Signature and it is £245 - I was surprised how pricey and it's certainly not money we have 'lying around' but a close friend highly recommended the course having had a LO recently so thought we'd give it a go! I think the price varies depending where you live as their costs differ due to venue cost, amount of sessions, cost of trainer etc...? But £365 does seem extortionate!!

We are also looking to get a Chicco Next to Me crib for the bedroom and seems to be some good deals on eBay!

For those with SPD, I will post about the physio class I did later... SmileBrewCakeFlowers

Misshyip · 26/05/2016 07:38

Thank you for agreeing with me! I do live in SW London so I anticipated it being the most expensive, but there are none of the essentials classes within 8 miles of me, which in London is really far. So needless to say, we're looking into cheaper options. Perhaps not as in depth or as social, but hey, what can ya do?!

sparklystars20 · 26/05/2016 15:52

miss the NCT have lots of local 'bumps and babies' groups that may be worth going to for informal chats before baby comes and support for post-birth? I haven't been to one yet because of work but intend to in the Summer.

Those with SPD - it really seems to depend on your local health trust as my doc/local midwife referred me to physio weeks ago, I had a 1:1 physio appt but was told they don't give out support belts anymore so buy one online and to come back again if I needed to. Not very helpful.
However, When I saw the midwife for the hosp I've chosen for birth (different county to my GP as I'm on a border) - she gave me a referral for the physio at the hosp and they booked me on a 'managing pain in pregnancy' group class which was actually really useful, we all got advice & techniques to do & a support belt and crutches if we wanted them! Also can go back any time in the next month (without another referral) for a 1:1 if we need/want!
I seem to be quite fortunate and have some good days & bad days so hope those suffering get some good days too!! Flowers

Sharesinpampers · 26/05/2016 17:07

We did NCT first time and the course was good but haven't actually kept up with anyone beyond the first year. However, I met some brilliant girls (some I'd count as my closest friends now) at a post natal group run by our health visitors. It was free to attend so might be worth asking your midwife if there's anything local.

shabbychic1 · 26/05/2016 21:00

I'm doing the NCT for social reasons mainly- think it was about £250, start mid june.

I'm 24 weeks tomorrow- 6 months!! Wow, although it seems like ages to go looking back its flown!!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 27/05/2016 07:21

I've not even looked at nct this time. Can't remember how much it was but I do remember laughing hysterically when I was told! Like shares I made some lovely friends at a free post natal group so hoping there'll be something similar.

Only 14 weeks to go for me and tbh feeling really apprehensive. DS is being really difficult at the moment and I just can't see how I'll manage with 2. How the hell do you manage bedtime with 2? Or cooking food?

Also found out my job is probably going to be scrapped whilst I'm on mat leave so no idea what I'll be going back to.

Bobbycatz · 27/05/2016 08:38

Just a quick message to say that the NCT online shop has 20% off this weekend. They sell sleepyheads, snuzpods etc if anyones interested.

Danni89 · 27/05/2016 10:22

Thanks for letting us know bobby... Do you have to be an NCT member to get the discount, I'm assuming that's the catch?

MrsCeee · 27/05/2016 11:51

Thanks Bobby. Yes, I'm wondering the same about having to be a member to use the discount.

Cupcakes Your post made me laugh! DH also laughed hysterically for Months after I told him how much the NCT course was when I was pregnant the first time round. We stuck to the free NHS antenatal courses and by the time DS was here I had met one of my lovely neighbours whose youngest is a year older than DS and she kept us pretty busy.

I'm 23weeks tomorrow and I'm also finding myself asking DH how I'll manage with 2 when he's at work all day (12hour shifts). At this point I'm just hoping DS will still have his afternoon nap going on haha.

Plus I had grand delusions (again) that I'd learn to drive before the baby arrives but it's looking like that won't happen. I have Zero motivation to actually find an instructor and get on with it.

MrsCeee · 27/05/2016 12:00

Also, sorry to hear about your job worries too Cupcake

Bala I'm very jealous of your bargain on the Chicco next2me!

Dollface136 · 27/05/2016 16:32

Looks like you just enter a promo code at checkout for the NCT sale.

I too am jealous of any chicco deals. Do you think £100 is reasonable for one?

Danni89 · 27/05/2016 16:51

Yeah I think so too dollface, going to order ther sleepyhead when I get home
